A super quick find with frmen1. Used the geo-vehicle as coverage from muggles. That cache is very secure. Had just seen the new The Ghan...I prefer the old livery. TFTC
This was our first cache in Alice Springs. We took photos of the locomotive and could easily find the container. Thanks for this cache. We really liked it.Kind regards. schuhlstroo
The Ghan and Alice Springs have their own special history. So thank you for this cache. Greetings from Switzerland
I surprised myself and got it in the first place I looked. We are supporting our mate who is running to Darwin (@curlyrunsnz). We camped overnight at the Owen Springs Reserve Drive turn-off and he will run to Alice Springs. We have a few jobs to do in town before we head north.Alicecaching, I found Train spotting today. Thanks for placing and maintaining this cache.
What a great opportunity for a fun find. A definite FP from me. Cheers for the help from my team mates. Cheers
What a great cache.Going to come back and have another look at the train.CheersFP for a great placement
Easy find, restored my faith in train caches! Taken an Alice Springs travel bug for a journey south. TFTC
Day 254 of our streak!
Having arrived at his destination of Alice Springs, Australia, Mr. Revutin set out to find a cache today to extend our streak.
Mrs. Revutin-5 had placed this cache on the list of available and ideal options for Mr. Revutin-5 to find. This cache stood out as interesting but not overly challenging with Mr. Revutin-5 being quite tired from his travels.
The train locomotive looked to be a challenge at first; but then the cache presented itself
In fairly short order. This was also an interesting exhibit to look over while enjoying the peacefulness of the locale.

After arriving in Alice yesterday , today was a 'rest' day before heading out of town to explore the surrounds - which also meant an opportunity for some caching .Looked around here for a long time, but it was too good for me today - one we'll have to come back for .Thanks anyway Alicecaching.

On our travels we stopped to grab this cache, our first thought , oh no not a train, that are up there with cannons, but the coordinates were spot on and bingo the cache was in hand, thanks for placing it
A return visit to this old girl on our way back from Yulara. Success this time! Name on the log and cache returned to its hidey hole. Tftc!
Day 33 of our greynomad trip up north and after a the JLWEvents, a tour of Maralinga and caching to claim LGAs in the Eyre Peninsula, we are attempting to escape the southern weather that has been wet and windy.
Stayed in few nights in Alice Springs to catch up with some washing and shopping before heading north. The sun tried to come through this morning, and not quite as cold (I think), but at least the rain has settled.
Searched for what seemed like ages then took a PAF option, which was not particularly helpful, but at least I managed to find while geohubby was busy chatting on the phone. Later in the day we had to wait for the Ghan to pull into the station before we could continue our journey, so a good day.

The Old Ghan railway line was a great 4wd trip for us a few years ago. We didn't know this was here or we would have been here sooner. Great cache, thanks.
We decided on a bike ride to look at the planes in storage snd on the way we came to this cache. After a bit of searching it was located.
Thanks for the cache

Visiting from Wisconsin, USA. I approach train hides with great trepidation. I often end up dirty and frustrated. Today I had better luck, but only after checking out what a Pelican case looks like. Thanks for the dirt- and frustration-free fun.
A trip to Perth checking out some of the awesome places along the way in ACT, NSW, Qld and NT. Grabbing some old caches and missing LGAs. TFTC.
I would love to do the Ghan. I feel now that I have been pretty close.

Continuing our trip from Melbourne to Darwin and back, we are now on our way back home and spending a few days at Alice Springs to see the things we missed on the way up. Today we are visiting the Telegraph Station and the National Transport Museum.
Quick find but my iPhone said it was east of where I found it.
Discovered TB

On a trip around oz with the family, grabbing dinner caches as I go! Nice quick find here, tftc!
Pretty cool place to be. The Ghan is an important feature of this area. We lined and looked and it was eventually found by the muggle who collected us from the airport.
Spotting this one on the way into town, I made a note that we would have to come back because I cannot resist a train cache. We thought we might have been in for a long search but Mr Winglen was super quick on locating this!
A nice hide and a favourite point from us, thanks.

We were lucky enough to see the Ghan train pull into Katherine Station about a week ago. Thought we would have a go at finding something larger than a nano on a train, and success was ours! SL at 2.49pm and replaced where found. #8686 TFTC Alicecaching
Knew what to look for (pelican container, AKS tactic in VIC) and the GPS was spot on. Happy to put my hand in there with a phone torch. Not too hard a find. Big lizard was hiding under there too. TFTC at 2.49pm with Harrowang. Find #1727.
Thank some one the co ords are good. Found a hint in the logs to recheck where mogni had all ready checked just didn't look deep enough. Was surprised to find a cliplock container, was expecting something smaller. fav point for not putting a nano here.
Mogni and myself went to the Northern Territory for a 10 day holiday. We drove 5478 km's in those 10 days. The plan was to go up the Sturt highway and then go via Ayers Rock, King's Canyon and then through to Alice Springs stopping at the gorges/chasm/gaps along the way. As you can expect nothing goes to plan. Day 1 Adelaide to Cooper Pedy, made it just before the Roxby Downs turn off and blow the side wall on the tire of the 4x4, 193 km detour just to get a tire and even then it was the second tire place that had the tire the correct size. We had camels come in to the campsite in Erldunda Roadhouse, they even left hoof prints 1/2 a foot from the tent, at King's Canyon we had dingo's come through the camp ground both nights we where there and at Alice springs we had a mouse move in under the tent in their campground. Some of the aboriginal towns we passed where in lock down because of covid 19 so no going in to get fuel there, that changed some plans. The floods where way worse up in Northern Territory than i realized. Some creeks/rivers i could see the debris over 2 meters from the river bed and down one 4x4 track it washed the road away completely, the hole was 3/4 the length of the 4x4 and over 6 foot deep. The temp was 33 to 36 for 9 of the 10 days and finally cooled down for the drive home. We got 7 different caches types in the N.T. plus every different cache size. It was a good trip but not the one we planned. To many of the roads in the N.T. where damaged and not repaired ( still closed ) so that cancelled plan A but that's just a excuse to come back isn't it. Come back and see what you missed last time when the roads are fixed. We came with 19 regular " geocaching size " containers and a milk crate of small containers by day 7 all the regulars where used as replaced caches and by day 8 the smalls where gone. It was the UV rays a lot more than the floods that killed the caches and almost all the log books where saved, the micro containers seemed to have constantly full log sheets so they where replaced too.

Sir_spectre and I went on a long overdue holiday to the Northern Territory. We had some great experiences and saw some amazing natural wonders. Not all went to plan - covid closures, flood effected roads, renovations, hot weather, some car troubles and not forgetting the huge jump in fuel costs
Any caches that needed repairs were fixed and numeous logs were replaced or added too.
Thanks to Alicecaching from mogni

Perfect day in Alice to find this cache! Was a quick find thanks to the coordinates, and definitely worth a favourite point. TFTC!
My husband and i are on a 8000km plus geokms trip from Brisbane to Uluru and today we are making our journey back home from having a great stay at Uluru Sails. We had plenty of time so we stopped to pick up some smileys on the way to Alice Springs. What a great place for a cache. we did circle around for awhile before my husband read some previous logs and then he went straight to it. Great hide. THanks for taking us here and for placing this cache here for us to enjoy
Left Cunnamulla after QOGM 2021 heading to Sth Australia, stopped in Mount Isa for a little spell and to catch up with new friends drrnrchr and attack all the caches here. Then WA then back to Cairns June 2022. 20 October 2021 12:17 pm Tyfc Alicecaching total caches now 2895
Found on our way out of Alice Springs. Have been in the area for 3 weeks including 2 weeks on the Larapinta Trail. TFTC
Found during a trip from Adelaide to the northern tip of Australia and back. Traveling up solo along the Strzelecki Track to Innamincka, then through central Queensland to Quilpie, Blackall, Barcaldine, Hughendon and Ravenshoe to Cairns. In Cairns I met up with e.gregory1 and a non-cacher friend and spent three weeks on Cape York Peninsula before making our way back to Cairns and Mareeba. From there I headed on my own back home via Normanton and Karumba, Cloncurry, Mount Isa, Tennant Creek and back down the Stuart Highway through Alice Springs to Adelaide. All in all I spent six weeks on the road, visited many out of the way locations, enjoying the scenery and finding caches along the way. Thanks for the cache Alicecaching!
Thank goodness it wasn’t a nano. A quick find for me. Signed the loose piece of paper before realizing there was also a proper log. Thanks Alicecaching.
Travelling to Alice for a family 80th.
Enjoying the sights and sounds - and peace and quiet
