Nothing here but old power poke which is about to be replaced. Maybe pillbox has been discarded
We had been visiting in Upper Hutt and decided to pick up a couple of caches before heading home. This was the first one we looked for and expected it to be a quick find. It wasn’t. Maybe we overlooked it but, if it’s still there, it certainly eluded us on the day!
We were staying in Upper Hutt for two nights before heading to South Island. This cache was very close to an eatery that had been recommended for family dining. What a pleasant dinner we had there: finally, a place that served real vegetables instead of the standard chips with every meal.
After dinner the rest of the family headed back to our accommodation and I walked on down the road to make the find. Not too many places to hide a cache at GZ, and I soon had the container in hand. After completing logging duties I decided to go look for a few more caches in the area before heading back to the motel.
I found one of the other two, and one remained elusive. Ahh well, it was a very pleasant walk that evening; the number of caches was immaterial.

#7002. Needed a few caches today. Been flat out at work so had to head out after dinner to do some night-caching. Not a fan of night-caching in suburbia. Always looks dodgy hanging around street corners after dark. Interesting little dip in the road here off the main road. I agree you don't think of the valley floor having hills. Headed to GZ and the cache was in the first place checked. Signed the logbook and replaced the cache as found. Thanks Newzealandtrips2001 for the cache.
The site had some very useful attachments for hiding a cache but it didn't beat us. Our third for the day, in lovely sunny calm weather. We met two other geocachers from a nearby house who helped us to get our mojo back. Selesi knows what I mean! TFTC
Got this one at last every other time I thought I would go for it the cache went awol Gilgul grabbed this one TFTC
# 255 Haha Mum tried to do the GSAK thing and stuffed it up! This is my actual bulk uploaded log! I would have found this one with my mum Gr33nslime! Im sure I had fun, i especially like finding toys. I hope to have more finds than weeks alive! Thanks to my mums obsession for geocaching... Cheers for the cache.
# 1491 I had visited this cache previously in the middle of the day but lost my nerve on approach. Despite parking right next to it I couldn't see it to make a quick find. Today I came back under the cover of darkness and was able to have a good look with seeming invisibility. Had to use my torch but otherwise a quick find. I wonder if with a change in groundspeak rules if this one is still viable due to its vicinity to power cabling? Time will tell.
DNF'd here about a year ago but it turned out to be missing at the time. A quick find today in exactly the spot where I expected it to be. Yes a rather interesting, and unexpected drop off from the main road.

Visiting this area of Upper Hutt tonight, stopped by here for a quick find. All safe and dry. TFTC.
Find #2948. An epic day of cycling and geocaching in the Upper Hutt Region, attempting to capture as many remaining Traditional caches as possible to clear the map. Started at Petone, catching the Wairarapa train with the bike, for a pleasant 25min and inexpensive $6.50 journey, alighting at Maymorn Station. Cycled some 40km in often 26 degree plus heat, returning to Petone via the general route of the Hutt River Trail but with many deviations. Particularly enjoyed the upgraded sections of cycle trail, smooth asphalt where once there was gravel.
Very hot here so parked in the shade, located the cache as quickly as possible and signed in the shade. SL TFTC

Almost gave up but just needed to explore from another angle. When filling out log, very exposed to residential muggles!
Over here this weekend for what is now an annual treat to Te Horo. Unfortunately this year my friend was quite unwell with a recurring irritation so we ended up back at her place this morning for her medication. I decided to come for a wander down the road to find this cache that we had both tried looking for earlier in the year when it was missing while she was sorting herself out. Just as I arrived a car pulled into the adjacent driveway so I continued down the hill for a bit before returning for a quick find. Took a while to unwrap the various logs and still haven't found one with any names so in the end put my name at the top of one and returned them all. TFTC # 13,192
Trundled down from the 'Naki via the Wairarapa on a couple of days before the Mega WENZ. With the great weather for the meet we were able to visit many cache sites and enjoy the places we were taken to. So thank you to all the cache owners who made the trip so much more enjoyable. Logs will on most occasions have the initials TT (TaraTed) BB (Blenheim Bear) and some 2BB (2Bulbars) beside the date to save space during this busy period. Extra notes are added where required with individual caches.
This cache place was quickly spotted but took a little while before it was extracated from its hiding place.

We are up and on the road at 6.30. Time to check out some local caches before joining the Etherlord Clan. Another quick snag and tag. Cheers
The Seagnoid, Zara and I are on another epic caching adventure for the next two weeks, starting with the Wellington Mega, then East Cape, Taraunga, Waihi, Rotorua and back to Wellington. Its been an awesome journey, over 2500 klms later, visiting many amazing places. Thanks to all COs

Almost 9am now, so time to stop geocaching and make our way back tot he Mega venue. What a weird street! An old river terrace? A earthquake face?

Day 3 of my Mega trip: Upper Hutt, the day after the Mega. Two weeks of travel with Taybeedragon, from Blenheim to the 2018 mega event, then on to my mum's eightieth birthday in Rotorua via the East Cape and Tauranga and the hole in the ground that is Waihi, Dropped the dragon off in Wellington while I continued on to Motueka for more family time before at last arriving home. We may have only found 230 caches over that 3000 km, but I qualified for 4 badge upgrades, hit the 10,000 cache mark, and even have a missing month ticked off! Throughout most of the trip we targeted special caches - earth caches, virtuals, wherigos, etc, although there were a lot of traditionals too. On the cache maintenance side about eight caches were replaced, and many more logs were added to or replaced. Many thanks to everyone who made this an awesome trip!

A bit of heavy handed extraction in evidence at GZ. Care needed in replacing and retrieving.
Another Mega and the inevitable list of cache finds to log. Not really a chore, just time consuming for this old geriatric. My apologies for the repetitive logs but I will attempt to add a few additional comments as I go. Had a great two days. Catching up with other cachers is always great. Day one was mainly a solved puzzle collection with little blue hen and Kiwicouple. We also squeezed in a few adjacent traditionals and a couple of multis while participating in the CITO event in Trentham Memorial Park. Quiz night was a fun event after a very tasty roast dinner and we were happy to finish only 4 points behind the eventual winners. Day two little blue hen and I gathered a few more traditionals that we hadn't done close to the Mega centre. A few coffees, a favourite point or two, some frustrating searching at one or two and then off home for a rest. Thanks to all the COs for making it another fun weekend. Now to prepare for the Melbourne Mega in November. TFTCSL

Down for the MEGA in Upper Hutt, Wellington, with NZTravellers, caching around the area.
Logs individually signed as "stik-a-crane" or "SAC" if space/time was short .
Time for the official photo celebrating the MEGA..
..thought the events were well managed considering a good sized turn out to the MEGA.
Thanks to all the CO"s for maintaining their caches ready for the onslaught...…

Day two of our MEGA wellington adventure! The weekend was great and the Wellington caching community did a fantastic job of hosting the event and maintaining some great caches and the weather was perfect for caching! We started in Johnsonville and ended the day in Upper Hutt and the back and beyond caching to all hours of the night.

A very pleasant morning when I woke up in my hotel (Hawks Inn) I pulled the curtains, yes across from my room, I could see Rebel and rusty still not up yet, so I decided to pick up 3 caches by walking around the hotel. This cache was the first for me this morning. No probs finding it and thanks for placing it!
Hmm very obvious spot found, but no cache.. either its hidden better than I thought or it's gone again.

Team BOP have descended upon the Wellington region for the 2018 WENZ MEGA. We have a lot of caches to get through so there isn’t a lot of down time but it's great to meet the locals, CO’s and fellow cachers. My online logs are largely cut’n’pasted because my memory has started to blur many of my finds together so apologies for that. We’ve signed logs as ‘TeamBOP’ or individually depending on log space and time. Lastly a big Thank You to the Team - TNXPro, Davidsonclan, McJandals, NZFlossy, FapandGap & Squirrel Nutcase and to all the CO’s that made this a memorable trip
The first stop here was a DNF but we returned and I managed to get my fat fingers where they needed to be.

Found while either going to the Mega or attending the Mega or coming home from the Mega.
We left home mid day on Wednesday heading for the Mega and arrived at the Cossie club car park late Friday afternoon where we stayed all weekend with kind permission from the club. It was a great weekend meeting others and going out geocaching including a trek up into the hills above Nae Nae. I really enjoyed that trek as the caches were placed usually within 200 m from each other. It was great to get to the top of the ridge and return most of the way down via another track. Unfortunatly we didn't have time to stay and ride the river trails but we will be back
Many thanks to all the C.O.s who place caches around the country for us to find and enjoy this hobby/sport. with out people like You Caching wouldn't exist

yes we went down this 'hill' What an elongated weekend with firstly an over night at waikanae and gatherin g in a few caches around there, and then onto the Hutt valley, travelling through to the Wellington Airport to pick up geo son and head to Karori where we stayed for the weekend and I stayed on for a further day or two before heading back up north again. At least the SH 1 was open going home and I I didn’t have to travel over Paekakariki hill which I did on Friday.
I managed several caches around Hayward/ manor park area, Avalon, Lower hutt and then around the coast to Breakers bay etc etc before going to rongotai and then south to Moa point etc. before heading to the Airport.
Saturday we picked up a couple of challenge caches and others on the way up to the Event, getting there in time to register and head to the CITO event. Then a few more challenge caches and trads before heading to the Flash mob. Back to the venue where we had tea and got ready for the quiz night. Which unfortunately went on a little long.
Sun day saw us pick up a long over due mystery cache on tinakori road before heading to Petone and then up to Upper Hutt where we completed the Lab caches some puzzle caches and thee wherigo before heading back yo Karori to have tea with grand chn and family etc.
Monday we went to Zealandia where we completed two more caches before taking geo son back to the airport. I then drove home the next day after the bulk of the traffic had gone.
It was a great weekend and a great Mega event . thanks to the organisers and ALSO thanks to the REVIEWER who alerted CO about the status of the their caches etc so most caches were actually there and not missing. This was a truly amazing effort on the REVIEWERs part. Thank you.

Found with Injeanious as we explored the area during the Mega weekend. We signed some logs as team JeJe to save time and space. We strolled down to find this as we were waiting for our dinner to be ready. TFTC!
Found in a little pocket of sunshine despite the looming dark grey clouds to the east. TFTC
I have had this come up on my GPS several times when driving past. But a long list of DNF's now including by very experienced geocachers over the past year. Suggests its gone. Needs checking, adopting out or archiving.
Sitting waiting for our takeaways we looked to see if there was a cache nearby to see this on the map. So we walked over, made a quick find and returned in time for our dinner. Cache better than the dinner! In the area to attend a weekend workshop and our cache finds are a bit random. Not likely to be back anytime soon so nice to get this find before it is potentially archived. Thanks Newzealandtrips2001!
I was doing a bit of work for some people who live around this area during the week. I had to come back out this way today to drop something off, so I came down here to have a look for this one. I had to wait for quite a while for a man to s-l-o-w-l-y walk past. Then it was a quick dash to the likely spot for an instant find.
The cache is in good condition. All nice and dry inside.
Thank you

We hadn't been to Wellington for a while but today was the day for a visit we havn't got many caches in our area now to get so we need to go further afield. So Upper Hutt it is for us today. A nice area to visit not as busy as I was anticipating, so it was a nice quick find here sign the log and placed it back as quickly as I could before any muggles appeared, Thank you for placing a cache here in this out of the way type of street. TFTC
I couldn't see many hiding options within a small radius of the apparent GZ so I found it in the first place I looked. I wasn't parked very close so I didn't retreat to the car to sign but the street was quiet and there is a convenient light source to see what I'm doing. TFTC.
To those who follow; Do not hesitate. Be strong. Kia Kaha!
When a small hill becomes a thrill you know you live in Upper Hutt. I stood at the top with vertigo rising and stared down the unexpected slope. Is it safe? What if I start and am unable to stop? Surely these geographical anomalies should be flagged with warning signs or flashing lights? I decided on a cautious approach and got down on my hands and knees. Crawling backwards and keeping my gaze fixed on the GPSr I approached the cache site. Under other circumstances I knew I would seem conspicuous, but surely locals must be used to an approaching visitor's reticence.
Sweating and shaking I was relieved as the slope eased and I sat with my back to a power pole recovering. The cache was a quick find and I took my time filling out the log, dreading what I knew was to come; the ascent back UP Heldreth hill. The sound of commutor traffic whizzing past the top of the rise felt reassuring, an anchor upon which I could fix my insecurities.
Log dry and returned to it's nook safe and sound. Be careful out there my friends.
