Logs
Had me going back and recalculating a few times. Overlooked the cache a few times! Log a bit damp but dried for a while, signed and packed away as best we could! TFTC!
I remember when this bike park was first installed, and all the trees were mere saplings. Not so much of a view from the top car park any more. Can’t see the chimneys for the trees!
Fabulous to see these tracks so well established.
After crunching the numbers, this hide was a relatively easy one to uncover. Though I think it helps somewhat to understand how Bushfire prefers to hide things.
The container was a surprising choice. Somewhat vulnerable to a future CITO event. The log pages are a little moist from previous signings, otherwise notes and container still airtight. TFTC

After cooking the books I got a possible number. The location and container were a bit challenging, but everything worked out!
I've had the coordinates saved for sometime so very happy to finally get the smiley face here.
After searching high and low and sorting through the handfuls of rubbish, I finally came up with the goods. For some reason I feel like a sausage in bread right now!!

I'd collected the clues for this one a couple of days ago but couldn't massage the numbers into a meaningful GZ. Two hints, both inside and outside the game , and the check numbers finally confirmed my initial suspicion of the final location so I mosied on down today to test my hypothesis.
It still took me a few moments until I finally spotted the stash right on noon. The log was absolutely saturated but it must be waterproof paper so it took my moniker without any issues.
TNLNSL, although our BYO pen geocoin had a visit to mark the occasion. Thanks Sims_family.

This seems strange to be logging a cache that I have visited so many times since placing on the 16th August 2016.
Boy has this area grown I think the roots of the trees must have got down to all the rubbish that is underneath this whole area.
This cache along with over a hundred others have been adopted out to other folk who are happy to look after these guys as the ageing Bushfire has developed a health problem that will only get worse so big thanks to all these great friends.

Thanks heaps, Bushfire!
And again after caching my car is filthy, lol. Most of the numbers were easy. The chimneys and wood bits gave me a bit of grief as they're either covered with dirt or trees. A little logical guessing meant I could get the sums and checksum to work. Off to gz and I'm feeling lucky I didn't come here on a Saturday. Found one red herring as pictured, then the cache soon after. It's very wet, but the paper is holding ok. I could still sign. Tftc for this calendar day.

Chasing a few caches with The Empire after attending the **DO YOU HAVE ONE OF THESE!** events
A fantastic day to be out in the fresh air and sunshine. It was great to be back in the area again and able to swing past, gather the required information and make our way to GZ?
A nice straight forward find here. Left my mark on the log and replaced as found.
Thanks for the cache Sims_family. Appreciate your efforts.

After hanging out with everyone at the event, including the man himself, Bushfire, we spent the rest of the afternoon caching around this part of G-Town. A wander up and and some quick maths and a little search later we had this one in hand. I remember find REDPAW64 caches all around this part of Geelong back in the day. I've been around a while, so I can say 'back in the day'. Thanks for the cache Bushfire.

After attending the Bushfire Community event, SedgwickDave, BeckNmonts, Manfred Wolfgang and I headed out on a mini tour of Geelong area, targeting multis, Mysteries as well as an adventure lab and a virtual.
Nice to be able to find a trademark Bushfire hide.
Thanks to Bushfire for this smiley.

Finally got around to this one after missing out at the CITO. Got some workings that made sense, and went to where everyone was forbidden to go in these times! Managed to get the cache fairly quickly as I had an idea what sort of hide it was.
The first time I looked for this one was back in October last year. That time I had no luck. Just yesterday though, I thought I'd give it another go. Unfortunately I'd lost my workings out for GZ from last time, so I had to start from scratch. First time round, I'd assumed looking in the dark was making things significantly harder, so thought it would be much easier the second time. Wrong. After another decent search in daylight I was still empty handed. Completely baffled, I caved and sought a hint from CO. As soon as I got the reply the penny dropped. I in fact remember seeing it the first time around, as well as yesterday, but had dismissed it. Incredible, how something like that can fit in so well while simultaneously being so visible. 3rd time lucky, I came back today for a quick find. TFTC Bushfire. Very cheeky...
Not sure how I missed finding this one during the recent CiTO. Maybe because I was late to the event! Needed a cache after work today and headed here to the previously solved coordinates. A little hunting and the cache was in hand. TFTC
Thought we would pick this one up on the way back home. Had solved the first steps a while back so we were quick to GZ. Nearly regarded the cache as Rubbish but RedGeoDevil wasn't as easily fooled and we both signed the log book. TFTC
Sitting at my computer during these Covid lockdowns, I am trying to catch up on a few logs that I haven't sent in yet.
Over the years, geocaching has taken me on many adventures, including interesting destinations all over my home continent of Australia and many overseas as well. It has also introduced me to a diverse group of like-minded caching tragics, many of whom I now call close friends.
Today, I was lucky enough to be out and about searching for caches, something I do on almost a daily basis. This was one cache that was targeted and found.
Sorry for the late log, something I am notorious for. Thank you for adding to the adventure that is geocaching.
Thanks Bushfire (F=9279 H=184) for the cache.

I only know one cacher on the list and must admit that I haven't even heard of all of them. Lucky to be with the CO when he went to check that this was still in place due to the CITO happening in this caches vicinity. Thanks for the cache.
This was a nice quick and easy find. Definitely helps when you are with the CO, who, due to the CITO, needed to do a welfare check. Thanks for the cache.
Located this one in the company of the lovely CO whilst attending a nearby CITO.
Certainly a tricky hide Bushfire, one you will see but just as quickly discount.

So I initially decided to drive to Geelong for some R&R, well, maybe not the "rest", and on second thoughts not really the "relaxation" either...... but the aim of my time away was to enjoy time with friends; spend some time in the outdoors and try to bring some balance back into life. The laughter was great, the company wonderful and the crazy conversations were just that! (crazy) Oh and I even got to have fun playing Pokemon during a special December event - over the weekend, woo hoo! Not only did I visit Victoria, but I also made a side trip to Hobart during my time away. Before long my buddy flew over to join me and we made the trek back to Adelaide (should have been an 8 hour drive, but we made it a 14.5 hour adventure).

What this? A cache you say? Quick find at the CITO as the CO had it with him (my sort of multi cache)! Many thanks
I DNFd this cache more than 3 years ago.
This morning, after the Chrismas CITO nearby and with the CO in attendance, it was so much easier to locate that container !
Actually in those 3 years since the bike park and the cache have been here the vegetation sure has grown a lot. Were it not for that 160m saturation rule we could have a lot more caches here .
I remember some of Redpaw's multis. He liked looong multi calculations with A,,B,C,D,E,F,G... I recall one multi of his that I did that I think had all the letters from A-Y, and I was disappointed it missed the alphabet full house by just the one letter !
Thanks Bushfire.

TFTC. You could call this a lucky find. The container nearly found it’s way into a rubbish bag during CITO in the area. Luckily the CO was on hand to rescue the container. It did mean that several teams were lucky enough to sign the log with the CO in attendance.
Down this way for the annual Christmas events and after attending the first CITO I managed to find this one.
These names are all well before my caching days but their efforts helped to get our Hobby to where it is today.
Well done Bushfire for honouring these cachers.
Thanks Bushfire TFTC.

After doing the CITO nearby a group of us set out with the CO to check on the final for this cache which was quite close to where the CITO had been. The cross country bike track was very interesting. I chose to not cross the ramp . I don’t do heights, even low ones like here, very well. It’s a great concept, but no cyclists were using that part of the track while we were there. The cache was found in good condition and several teams signed the log before replacing it in its hiding place.
Found during the CITO.
Nice bike park here and some great camo.
We have found a lot of redpaws caches especially during the beginning of our caching.
Thanks for the hide.

So glad not to do all the counting and maths!

This is a perfect place for th kids to come and play. While we were there there was a father with two small boys, they rode he ran beside them. The information was easily found and calculated and the cache container gee we wish we could tell you but that would spoil your fun. SL TFTC
Found the info needed and made our way to GZ. Unfortunately had no luck. It was pretty dark by this time so the probably didn't help. Will have to come back with some daylight. Thanks anyway.
I counted and I calculated and I was eventually rewarded with a hide that I like to call a “Bushfire special” I was able to complete this multi quickly today as nobody was using the facilities. Thanks god as I was worried I would get mowed down! Thanks for the multi Bushfire
Thanks for the cache Bushfire and Redpaw64. Nice wet day to get back on the trail. TNLN
Well, I'm back from Melbourne and that means that it's time to find some more geocaches. I still prefer caching in Geelong as the GPS is much more stable than in Melbourne because you aren't caching next to skyscrapers. Anyway today I was dropped off at Kardinia Park, walked down to the mountain bike track then took a mild hike down to Belmont.
This one was third on my list and after my previous DNF I was armed with a hint from the CO, I just had to wait until we were down there again. This time I had much better luck, my GPS was taking me somewhere entirely different than last time. Log signed and replaced as found. TFTC, TNLNSL

Returned here again today, as with another nearby cache with a little advice from CO under my belt. As it turns out, I had the cache in my hand the other day, I just didnt realise it. Expect the unexpected.
On the way to the area to hopefully finish another multi I decided to stop by here. Got the numbers I needed at WP1 and 2 fairly quickly. Came unstuck at GZ, will return for another look another day.
After not a nice day yesterday DAB and I were keen on getting out and about locally today. We headed off early to find a few caches before the local event, some chores and a walk later.
I have been able to do a few of RedPaw 64's caches in the past. This multi had us in a spot we had both been near before and with some workings out, the final hide was found after a, is it that! Yes it is
**Thanks to Bushfire for hiding this cache for us to find and enjoy**

An early start with Na'wal this morning, up at the crack of dawn. The plan was to grab a few hides, before a local event. Luckily we were successful with all of the hides this morning.
I was lucky enough to adopt some of REDPAW64's hides. We had no trouble with this multi, another one off the list. TFTC Bushfire

I had no idea this facility existed until I was enticed here today. It was being well used today as school holidays allows the young to expend their energy in places like this. Almost run down near WP2 by some very fast moving silent assasins Another sneaky Bushfire hide. Thanks

Today I headed off on another road trip, this time to Geelong and then on to Ballarat to attend a couple of events but there are also other caches to be found in these areas.
I had a bit more time before the event so I tackled this one.
I checked out the area and gathered the required info and shortly after I was at GZ having a look around.
As I was looking I noticed a bit of rubbish around the area and one particular bit caught my eye as I had seen it used before by this CO and sure enough it was the cache, the log was signed and off I went.

Found by Mary & David at 1335. Mary had a Pampers appointment, so David headed to this park to do the multi. Gathered the first numbers, then decided to walk up the hill to the second sign for a bit of exercise. Missed one chimney, so had the wrong value for H, but that soon became obvious, and the extra one was quickly spotted. No problems with the counting task, and GZ was close by. Discounted the camoed container on the first pass, but not the second. Sneaky! Then it was back to Newtown to collect Mary. Our thanks to Bushfire.
Another multi to do without my geopal, I walked around, up and over this great course scouting for the information I needed to get to GZ, I came across some very interesting insects, one In particular that I had never seen before. Then took in some spectacular views from the ramp and made it to GZ, I looked for a little, got a bit stuck so read through some logs fishing for some clues, definitely helped here, I would never have looked and that, however I believe it's not bushfire a first cache of this style!! Cheeky lil fella. TFTC
With a couple of free hours and some treasure needing to be found for Mary Hyde, hubby and I set out to pick up a couple of multis.
This was our second cache and embarrassingly we didn't read all the info correctly...
After a quick phone call to the owner we realised our error and set about fixing our numbers.
We made it to GZ and made the find.... or did we? Wait... I'll open it up - HA!! very saucy Bushfire!
Another find by the McPhail family.

*Motivated by the machinations of the Mary Hyde Mystery, our mission was to navigate our way around some Geelong multis.*
As with our triple bogey at the nearby "19th Hole", our riding the new track, took a bit of a tumble. Picking ourselves up we recounted and rechecked and reworked a few numbers. A coupleof sneaky questions and nearly got runover by a fast travelling bike at one spot - not sure we should have been there; we were eventually heading to GZ where we were not sure which brand to choose. It took a couple of tries before we could add our name to the log. FP for the fun and tricky questions.
PS: We knew we were following cachers when we got to the ramp - Good work McPhail family!
Thanks Bushfire for placing caches for everyone's enjoyment.

The first bit of this was the easy bit, but actually finding the cache was much harder than expected with all the under growth
Thank you for placing and maintaining the cache.
Thank you for placing and maintaining the cache.
After a report that the log was damp a trip there confirmed that to be true so it now it has a nice new log in a plastic Zip lock bag.
MaggieDot and I were out today on this wet and humid day. We had already tried a cache down the road but had failed to find it, so thought we would try this one. Did the maths easy enough but struggled with the cache. We seemed to be having a bad caching day. Called Bushfire for help as they are both his caches and he gave us a hint. Turns out that I had inadvertently put my hands on this one already but didn't know it. So MaggieDot thought we should pop and and grab it to help fill in our calendars, so we did. Thanks Bushfire.
After last night's successful finds, AutumnTree and I were keen to change another '0' to a '1' (or more) in our respective calendars. After ditching the GeoKids at school, and a quick and not very nice actually coffee, we decided to tackle a cache down the road a bit from this one. We managed to find the GZ ok but not the cache and we were wet and disgruntled and gave up and came up here to this one instead.
It started to get a bit misty as we got the required information at the bottom carpark, and then started to drizzle while we did our counting at the top of the hill. We calculated the coordinates and as we started to look the weather got a bit more serious. We were a bit put off by all the rubbish in the GZ - it looks like people spend a bit of time up here - and we disappointedly also put this one into our come-back-another-day basket.
AutumnTree messaged Bushfire about this one and the previous one to ensure we were on the right track. Apparently at this one AutumnTree had put her hand on the cache but hadn't looked closely enough. So back we went a couple of hours later and finally put our names on the log.
Log is quite damp and deteriorating a bit.
Log signed and all replaced as found.
TFTC!

Geelong Day 4, last day in town. Caching with Roostaman
A few caches around the town area, visited many places we have not been to before.
Traffic is always a problem when you don't know the roads.
What a great bike park they have placed in close proximmity to the city.
Loved the hide. Favourite point given

Another day of great caching in Geelong with Di Morgan.
We searched around an area we both had not been before.
A quick multi and a good search at GZ after we first didn't search close enough.

Finally managed to bring the boy and his mate with bikes so a multi cache is perfect to pass the time. Nice walk up the hill to look for chimneys and got all the right numbers. A quick search in the bushes and the cache was located under a dubious piece of clothing. My kids love this stuff. The log was quite damp and fragile, I have rolled it up and removed the damaged section and the paperclip that was rusting the whole thing. TFTC and bringing me here.
Whent to the bike park for a ride and answered the questions.then came back a couple days latter having gotten the cords for GZ and found it. Fun cache TFTC.
Found while in Geelong for the events. What a great bike riding facility and it was quite busy today. A great view at Park 2. Obviously I haven't done many of your caches as it was a surprise to me. TFTC
In Geelong socialising today, there was an nice break in between to target a few multis. I had done earlier homework on some but this was my first crack at this one. Counting, counting, counting.....I was pleased for the check sum. The area around GZ could do with a CITO but I managed to find the camoed cache tucked away. Thanks Bushfire, time for a pie now! I too have found some RedPaw64 caches and I love this tribute series, I hope there will be more.
A great idea for a tribute to the original cachers in the Geelong area. Pulled up and did our collection of numbers in the various spots and came up with a GZ that was not too far away. The only stumbling block was my interpretation of the 'three angles' but that was eventually logically solved. Having seen this hide before from you it wasn't too hard to find the right object.
This is a wonderful area for the bike track and it was certainly being used today.

I had a bit of time to kill from knocking off work and my work party starting at 7pm - so made my way down to the river to collect a cache and read a little of 'Best American non required reading 2016'.
I have left this local aside many a time, as wasn't sure if it were a LAM (Long ass multi) that were better saved from when I had more time than a fleeting drive by allows.
I casually collected the information and did the maths, taking in the views whilst I was here. I arrived shortly at GZ, and tenderly stepping around the rubbish and junk, started my search. I eventually resorted to a PAF - and found the appropriate hide for this area
A nice spot with the views here - shame about all the rubbish laying around. I do remember the old RedPaw caches - multi's that went along the lines of - now whats 1 + 2 +1 +3 +4 +1 +2 + 1. Ok take that and minus 1 - 3 - 4.... Always did have nice spots however!
Cheers and thanks for another cache for us - seems like they have slowed right down in Geelong as of late!

We remember some of Redpaw64's original caches and met him at events a couple of times. What a nice idea to honour some older cachers in your new series, Bushfire! And to showcase this amazing bike park that we had so far only admired in passing!
Intelligence was quickly collected at WP1, with a few families riding their bikes around the tracks. At WP2 we had to jump out of the way of a few older riders. Luckily, they were not riding at breakneck speed and did not stop to tell us off for being in their way.
The counting job near the end of the task did indeed remind us of counting steps, rungs and slats for some Redpaw64 caches. We noticed with some relief that the number of tree-protectors were not part of the equation. The cache was found in a typical Bushfire container, after a brief search.

Joined up with The Sims Family and Neville Devil to grab a few caches. Looked like there was a birthday event at the park so I jumped out to gather the information rather than three men unaccompanied by kids and not on bikes, but alone I still came under curious eyes. At wpt 2 I thought we were safe but having to go against the parks rules to gather information only one person went out to gather the info. With the required info we made our way to GZ to make a quick find, signed and replaced as found. The log is getting damp but ok for now. As we returned to the car we disturbed a young boy reliving himself which was our cue to leave before drawing any more attention to ourselves.
Thanks for the Multi cache Bushfire

Today the Sims_family needed to make a find to colour in a needed spot on our calendar but all but Sims_family dad were overwhelmed by a cold/flu that has them all feeling miserable. With a messaged and a call to Ausfox and the same to Neville_devil we had a three will cache hunters.
To start of we did all the ground work for Early Highton but were stumped some what at GZ so we had a bit of a break from that and moved onto this another one from the same CO.
With some many kids on bike it was a little disturbing without any of my children as cover and no bikes either. I will have to bring the kids bake to this park as I think they will all have a ball here.
Anyway finding out the answer to one of the question was not possible with out breaking ine of the park rules but with a quick dash Ausfox got the info required as quick as possible.
Back to the car and we calculated the number to find GZ.
Hmmm down there. I went one way Ausfox and Neville_devil went anther. GZ was reached easily both ways. The cache was found and signed nice and easy.
On the way back to the car I did manage to scare the life out of a young lad relieving himself in the trees [:o]
Thank you Bushfire for the cache now back to try and find Early Highton

We just had to grab a cache for International Caching Day and this was the closest unfound to home. The course was getting plenty of use today with muggles galore. We dodged cyclists from 3yrs to 33yrs to grab the information at the second sign before moving to the quieter carpark at the top. Fortunately we were here during daylight hours and could solve Q5 after making sure we had a good 360 degree look. The counting of the ramp definitely reminded us of a RedPaw cache. GZ was a short stroll away with access pretty easy with a recent mow. Coords were spot-on and we soon spied something that looked out of place. A neat container that's popular in our household. The log was wet at one end so hopefully it holds up in the rain. TFTC Bushfire and great idea for a cache series.
Today was a bad day, theirs no other way to say it. School was out and it was cold, rainy and miserable. Well Rampske dosent mind a bit of wet weather so after much umming and ahhing, it was on the bike to check out this new guy.
At all the WPT's the required information was easily found and after a hard ride up the hill, I had all the required numbers. Did the maths and found myself at GZ. There are many geotrails running through this area now and after 30 minutes I had no luck. I guess my caching eyes are starting to fade due to the very low amount of caching I have been doing.Well just as the rain started again, I was about to give up when I saw something and thought theirs no way that could be it.
Upon closer inspection it was a very well made cache container which has been very well thought out by the CO (TLB). I dont personally know RedPaw64 however I have had the pleasure of finding some of his hides including the water basins one which certainly has a lot of counting involved with. I cant wait to see what the rest of this series involves and I eagerly await your next cache.
Thanks for another great cache Bushfire.

They've done a great job with this new bike park.
I thought I would find this cache 'quickly' before the local parkrun this morning, but it turned out not to be. I collected the info easily enough but then had just 5 minutes for a search at GZ before having to make my way to Balyang Sanctuary.
I'll be back with more time for this sneaky cache.
Thanks anyway, Bushfire.

Out and about late this evening we decided to hit this new multi approx 400 meters from our doorstep while there weren't any bike riders around to wonder about our interest in their signs. All the information was collected , excepting one, as the darkness prevented the counting of the red chimneys. Some guess work here came off in good stead because we found the sneaky container right at our new set of coordinates. Thanks Bushfire for the multi and highlighting this new mountain bike park here for all to enjoy.
What a great location for a cache. A brand new cycling facility and now I know all about it. Just have to ride it now. Another sneaky hide from TLB. The geotrail had me fooled and had to unlock the secret with a PAF after a long search. The old bugger keeps putting up favourites for me. TFTC
Used to be Farmer's Market here around here.
A lot change here ...
Found a great cache and great hide.
Thanks Bushfire

As it turns out I was actually riding around. This track today so if I had of had my phone on me I might have had a go at FTF!! I had made up a container to place at this track but it will be interesting to see where this much more experienced CO choose to place this. Will hopefully find this in the coming days.
FIRST TO FIND SUSCOE
Well there are a number of things about this multi which we found to be most interesting and enjoyable.
Firstly, we were at home when the notification arrived in the emails and not being too far away we were hopeful of getting to the listed co-ordinates quite quickly.
We also remember starting out in Geelong with our caching past time and in those days you had to check the maps to see where and when new caches had popped up.
REDPAW64 was one of those cachers who helped us to get started in Geelong with a number of terrific caches for us to find and we learned lots about this caching and the multis requiring number work.
So today was a nice walk down memory lane.
The area for this multi was also one we have watched for a while as it emerged out of the old tip site, great to see a recreational park grow out of this space. We remember seeing the fire brigade turn out here to put out fires burning below the surface at times back in the day.
A big thank you to Bushfire for bringing back the memories of those cachers who helped us learn this past time, a terrific concept and we are looking forward to seeing how the Red Ant reinvents each one.
A favourite from us for all of the above.
