Was pleased to find a new clean logsheet. No one wanted to rest so luckily a quick find
We had the same luck as the last person as we approached everyone cleared out! Made it easy for us. We are here for the weekend for Floriade and are scooting around the town collecting smilies. Thanks Tankengine for placing and maintaining the cache for our enjoyment.
A beautiful spot to sit. Lucky its early in the morning, not too many muggles around.
Bisoutje and I are on a roadtrip with a campervan between Cairns and Adelaide and have now touched ground in the capital Canberra. We scheduled for 1 full day here to be able to see and experience the city. It was a cold day but the many interesting Geocaches we found during the day made up for it. We saw many interesting buildings and enjoyed walking through several parks and along the river. This was a quick find.TFTC!
Today I was going to try and make a big indent on the caches needed for Geosportz. The Olympics are half over and I have only made a quarter of the claims that are on offer. Unfortunately things didn't work out quite as planned. With 9 caches on the list I started well but #2,#3 and #5 were all DNFs. Thank goodness things then improved but I admit that I then avoided some COs caches.A family was sitting on the grass very close to GZ but a young fellow I had taught over 40 years ago pulled up on his bike and by the time we had finished chatting the family had moved on and I was able to finish signing and replacing the cache. This obviously was not one that deserves a DNF so many thanks TE for placing and maintaining yet another cache for our game. SL
Another great scenic spot while having a lovely walk around the lake. Thanks for placing!
After I had searched most of the immediate area Mrs SKI took a seat where I was yet to get to and found the cache. There was a bit of a break in the cold spell today and the sun was out much earlier and things warmed up, even though the temperature only got to 13 degrees. We had been keen to ride our bikes round Lake Burley Griffin so today was the day. We only made it to the Farmer's Market on our first attempt then had to return to the van with our purchases! With that done it was back out to firstly catch the tram into town and then the ride round the lake. On our way round we picked up a variety of caches, trads, multis, puzzles and quite a number of Virtuals. Some were straightforward while others challenging.Lunch at the National Portrait Gallery was welcome. We made it home just as the sun was settingThank you for your efforts in creating and maintaining the cache Tankengine.**SKI Pair****
Having had a lovely night-time walk around the gardens, Ive picked this geocache up as Ive headed back to the car. Its been fascinating to see how the garden beds are being marked out and planted with seedlings ready for Spring displays! Thanks for the cache, Tankengine
Great micro hide beside the lake, in the gorgeous light of an autumn afternoon. TNLN. TFTC.
Full time Nomads, travelling around Australia since 2014. Back in Canberra for ANZAC day. With a late morning start we were on the bikes through EPIC to the light rail then the plan was to ride between the bridges of Lake Burley Griffin but alas too many caches and too little time so another day at least to finish that task. Bit of a breeze today so whilst sunny it was still a little cool. some lengthy search didnt help with our time management. We saw at least 2 school groups cycling around the lake, lucky for us they were going the other way, whilst we were stopped having lunch. TFTC Tankengine
What a lovely spot!Nearly got run over my joggers and cyclists, but I am of the opinion that may be worthwhile for this seat.TFTC
With a D1T5 CITO on in Canberra I decided that today I would do a day trip over. Johno, why didnt you just stay a little longer over there after the Geobash? Because I had things to do at home and wanted some time with my [muggle] family and friends during my annual leave. So I made my way over there and after having breakfast, I headed off to go Geocaching. Due to the bad weather, I decided it was going to be a great day to find those caches within high muggle areas. It was a great idea because there wasnt any muggles around. Yes, I got very wet throughout the morning and once it was about 1pm I started to dry off, because the rain stopped. I then found a couple of more caches before heading to the CITO. Once at the CITO, it was great fun cleaning up the pond and catching up with everyone. I then headed off to get dinner and afterwards headed home. TB visit. A big thanks to the CO for adding this cache to game for the Geocaching community to enjoy. TFTE & TFTCs! While it was still raining walked round Commonwealth Park collecting the high muggle area geocaches. All of them were quick finds and have been replaced ready for the next finder. This one is in a very exposed spot and I am so glad to add it to my list. Now off to the next one.
Up in Canberra from Melbourne to attend the Capital Geobash over the Easter long weekend. Our last full day in Canberra before we head towards home tomorrow. Found after visiting the Information Centre.TFTC
Since I'm in Canberra for Mega, I've enjoyed seeing many places as well as the warm weather. Here's one to find today.Thank you for placing the cache ?? Tankengine.
2/4/2024 Find #6973The final day in Canberra for KBreeAHH, Captain Terror and me, and we were going to pack it with caching before handing the hire car back and relaxing in the lounge at the airport. Having been up as far as Murrumbateman and then Yass this morning, we were now back down in Canberra for our final caches. We had decided to do a walking circuit around here to complete our mission. We were almost back at the car now but had just a couple of caches left to grab. KBreeAHH did that geocaching thing again - this is becoming a bit of a habit for her. We had just walked past here and she stopped, turned tail and wandered back to GZ having noticed it and our proximity on the map. Im beginning to wonder just who she is. We had difficulty extracting the cache here, but got it in the end. Thanks for the cache Tankengine.
Trying to search for this one discreetly with all the exercise fanatics wasn't easy lol..but the rest was nice
Found during the Mega event. Tankengine, thank you so much for placing it for everyone to enjoy and highlighting this area.
Over here for Capital GeoBash Mega. The first of many daytime hidden caches all over the city - after the Mega event (closing ceremony). A fantastic Easter Monday. TFTC
Found strolling along Reg a Regatta Piont. The muggles never saw a thing! TFTC TankEngine.
Found 31 Mar 2024 at 12:06:45pmOut and about on a cycling tour of part of Lake Burley Griffin with Team_Crumble in a beautiful sunny day. We cycled about 20km today, picking up a few caches as we went. Many thanks to Tankengine for placing Regatta Rest for us all to find
Massive caching days continue. My online logs do not match with days found simply because I cant keep up with online logging sorry. My alliance of 5 all from WA are three young fit boys and two less young ladies who try to keep them honest. We have been up trees and ladders way more than I like and, like all geocachers who insist on wearing shorts in hot weather, our legs are ripped to shreds from hiking. Logging WAC since the three boys usually cache with a fourth called the Cockburn Crew based on their LGA. Having an almost totally cleared map locally, its difficult to explain the excitement of having a map that has caches literally everywhere. Ive cached in Canberra once with my partner and also at the Queanbayen mega but theres still so many to find. Long days and during the few hours allocated to sleep Im so sore I barely sleep anyway. Thanks so much for your contribution to making the days so exhausting and enjoyable. Much appreciated!
We heard about a Mega in Canberra a year ago. Having never been to the big capital, we booked our accommodation and the planning began.Which caches shall we do? Wow they really love their mystery caches in ACT! Ok, we need to get our thinking caps on and solve some of these puzzles pronto. We have made the trek from Adelaide to be here and appreciate the efforts of all those involved to make the Capital Geobash happen. We have hired bikes to ride around the lake today.
As part of the tour group, we walked a ton of miles and signed all the caches as LT2. This was a quick and easy find, just the way we like 'em. Thank you for the smiley and the fun!The day:Today was day 3 of my time in Canberra for the GeoBash Mega from the U.S. and getting to spend time with my friends. Hooray! It was another day that started with an awesome tour around Lake Burley Griffin. The weather was warm and the cachers were friendly. We were led by tankengine, one of the cachers who had a hand in the gadget caches at the mega, has awesome mysteries and other caches in the area. He kept us moving the entire time and we were able to get all the caches on our list. Then I attended the mega which was a lot of fun. There were so many people! The gadget caches were amazing, the adventure labs were fun, and the evening get together for trivia was a blast. Many thanks to all the geocachers who placed and continue to maintain their geocaches for folks like me to find. I know it's not always easy, but know that I appreciate you.
While attending the Capital Geobash with scramping we participated in the 3.5hr Walking Tour around Lake Burley Griffin with Tankengine. Exciting times over the next couple of weeks as we takeoff for the Capital GeoBash in Canberra! Its going to be a flood of Sandgropers over east, with a host of West Aussies making the trek east for the event. Im travelling with fellow Cockburn Crew members Leg5 and Barnzy12, starting in Sydney and hitting the road to Canberra, before returning back to Sydney. Honourary mention to our fellow member, Cravo10, who couldnt make it after recently introducing a new geocacher to the world the week prior. Once in Canberra, the agenda is set, well team up with a host of Western Australians to conquer caches. Collectively, were hoping to make it the biggest ever weekend for cache finding. Following the event, the journey continues back to Sydney, with a mission to clean up caches and new Local Government Areas (LGAs), ensuring no cache is left unturned in this epic geocaching adventure. Something tells me that well need a holiday after this, well, holiday. All logs have been signed as WAC to save space, abbreviation for Western Australia Crew. Cheers Tankengine! Join us in Augusta, in Western Australias South West, for WA Goes Big 2024 (GCAGV8Y) on Friday 20 to Sunday 22 September. Log your will attend now!
Cockburn Crew on tour to the Canberra Mega. Day 1 involved a bunch of caching around Sydney before making our way to Canberra for the Capital Geobash. We found a huge variety of caches, and its great to cache in new territory that we havent explored much in the past. Unlike our home state of Western Australia where we have found just about anything and everything.A beautiful day with great weather and even better company. Thank you to the local COs for a great day in and around this great country of ours.
Out and about again, headed over to Sydney early in the morning, grabbed a hire car and got some local hides before driving to Canberra for the MEGA.
