26 October 2024 08:23 An enjoyable walk with dalerious brought us to a most splendid place to sit and take in the beauty of the area.We cant talk highly enough of the track leading to the caches along the entire stretch. All The caches here are doable, and you are missing out on witnessing a part of the Victorian Alpine Park that should be seen, and with so many awesome caches here to whet your appetite Big Grin. Thank you Jamin Appleford, another favourite point given.

26 October 2024 8:32amFound with catnap777 on a days adventure that proved more successful than we believed possible and a lot less problematic than we had anticipated. Big GrinHaving read a few logs on a few caches around here, we had almost put them all into the too hard basket. I am so glad to say we were wrong.I wont say it was easy, but at the end of the day, we were amazed with what we achieved up on this range....and we still managed to find time to visit Paradise Falls. WinkAssuming we get the nod for the EarthCache, we had managed to pick up every cache along this escarpment including this first one for the day with over 5 years unloved on it. TwistedAs we walked along this very easy, very pleasant MVO track, we knew there would be quite the view to the left the whole way if not for all the trees. Razz It wasn't until the end bit where we crashed far enough off the track to reach GZ that we caught our first glimpse and found out just how good the view is. SurprisedWow!! Everbody! Come here and check this out! Big Grin This place is just So Cool. Cool [^]TFTC Jamin. Sorry it took so long to get here.Red Face Fav added. Big Grin

Great spot!!

It was the holidays and with nothing planned for this day, I started convincing those family members who are old enough to drive that we should go caching for the day. Eventually, the nagging payed off and a trip to paradise falls and powers lookout was planned with hiking, bushbashing and riding with Bulldog! Only condition, I have to choose what caches to do.

So this one was the next because we had to make a choice out of the Earth one and this one and because I'm not so good at earth caches, we decided to do this one. Headed through the scrub, and more scrub, and even more scrub until... Wow, amazing views of the valley all from a vantage point that I wouldn't even know existed. At GZ, the cache was found straight away. Now for the ride down to the valley. TFTC Ben.

Just another great little find with pigwigeon today! What a day we'd had, and after we thought we bashed all the bush we could, we were up for it again. Continuing through the scrub, we finally reached the end and the cache! Nice little hide. TFTC

My how things have changed.
Last time the bananas were here, acting like disgruntled Richmond supporters, all the favourite points were taken off Jamin Appleford.
We were more upset than when...
Richo was dropped before almost winning the Brownlow.
Flea Weightman was reported. That punch wouldn't have knocked my grandma out.
But they are a thing of the past and those grudges don't carry as much weight. 37 years have been turned on its head.
Just like the coordinates here.

So with the changing times the tears no longer fill the waterfalls as success is finally here, and, not over the edge as previously indicated.

Thanks to benpmorgan for these updated coords.

coordinates have been updated.

Looks like the 1 and 3 were transposed in the eastings. Corrected coordinates attached.
I'm pretty sure finding the cache would have been very straightforward with these coords (I was getting an average of .539/.013 over a few readings all at the same time).
Cache itself is fine.

[FTF] at 5:58pm.

Walked in from Paradise Falls, left there around 3:15pm. Nice walk in, especially when there was a view.

I decided to attack this cache first out of the group of three here, as it looked like my best chance of success. Bush-bashing to GZ was a little difficult and a little painful. As I got near I noticed the wind pick up and at GZ there was constant (though not strong) wind. Quite refreshing.

Once at GZ hunted round and round. It was good to know not to go off the cliff edge, as the GPS was gently trying to push me a couple of metres off the edge. Oodles of potential hiding spots.

Every so often I looked up at the view, which had a restorative effect - great view from here up the valley.

Finally I thought I'd go look at the Windy Point itself (~27m from the geocache coords), as the geocache description seemed to indicate. Nice view from there. There I found the cache, and the log was happily empty.

Thanks for the cache, I enjoyed the adventure and great views.

Frustrated Richmond supporter...

That is why the bananas are carrying on like they are.

We are taking back all our Favourite points off Jamin Appleford. Everyone given is now being taken back.

Reason

Over 12 hours on the mountain for no reward.

Usually at 4.5 terrain is possible without equipment so this easy one was sort first. But no way.
On the cliff edge the satelites pointed 9meters over and down there. One hour later that point was another blind cliff edge with a twenty meter drop. The rocks were wet, slippery and just plain dangerous. A return with climbing equipment still found nothing.

Solid as a rock has a new definition here. With fear the bananas had either the strength of superman or nothing is stable.

But we didn't give up straight away, as 12 hours would indicate, and other areas were investigated with ropes and harnesses all with no luck. We were so annoyed not even the view was discovered.

And to top it all off in darkness as we left it took another 25 minutes to find our passage home through the nearby impenetrable bush.

Our tears would fill the nearby waterfalls.
