Fairly easy find although my co-ords were 7m out. This cache needs a visit from the CO, the lid is missing and it was full of water. The log was really too wet to sign. TFTC and the jewel!
Found on my trip north enjoying the caches. On and off rain all day so not getting all of the caches. Aiming for a certain total then stopping for the day. Nearing the end of my trip now.
Day Seven of a 12 day, 3000 km road trip around the North Island with the primary objectives being the Taupo Ultra Marathon on the 13th and my first ever caching Mega event in Wellington on the weekend of 20th & 21st. With thousands of possibilities for caches to look for on the way, I had to be very selective and decided to concentrate on special types, solved puzzles, ones that would fill missing spots in my statistics grids and those with good numbers of favourite points, plus maybe a few extras that were close by those.
Today while the other half went shopping in town, I did a tour of the roads around Palmerston North. The weather was great again, with no sign of any rain to interfere with caching activities.
This one was en route to some other special caches on my list. Once at GZ, the cache container was soon located, the log signed and all returned, safe and secure. TFTC

A last few caches in the area before heading home to Auckland. A nice quick find here with darthcacher1 and purply.

Road trip time! This weekend Team BOP consisted of Davidson Clan, TNXPro, Squirrelnutcase, FapAndGap, McJandals, NZFlossy & myself. We'd had this trip on the cards for a while but only recently had we locked in all the details. We were off to central Manawatu and we had a very narrow list of ‘must gets’ so this trip was essentially a numbers mission. We had a great time and managed just over 200 finds. Most of the caches were found quickly and in good condition thanks to accurate coords and straight forward placements although we replaced a lot of logs and a few containers as well. A huge thank you to the CO’s as this was a beautiful area to visit and there was certainly an abundance of geocaches!!
Signed Teambop. Came down to Fielding for the weekend with Philip.Perry, Tnxpro, Nzflossy, McJandals, Squirrel Nutcase and FapandGap . Staying at a farmhouse down the road from here.

Team BOP on tour in the Manawatu-Whanganui Region... With Gap (of Fap and Gap), (Mr) Davidson clan, McJandals, NZFlossy, Philip.Perry, and TNXPro.
This weekend had been in the pipeline for ages. It was always going to be a mission for various team members to get coordinated leave passes... We secured accommodation in the rural heart of the Manawatu. This placed us well within reach of a massive trail of caches... We travelled in one vehicle, so our journey was filled with lots of laughs, and good times... Fortunately, the majority of caches were in place and were fairly quick to locate - thanks to straightforward hints and great coordinates. Many of the caches had not been found in a while, so containers were waterlogged, and logbooks were wet... Thank goodness for waterproof paper. A huge thank you also, to the various COs who made our weekend worthwhile...
Cue the music... TFTC.

Team BOP were still going. Its well after nightfall, but luckily (or not) David Bowie was blasting through the van which spurred us on.
Thanks for the interesting themed trail.

On a road trip with Team BOP to Feilding. Set off Friday night and back home Sunday. Lots of caches and lots of laughs with great weather and great scenery. Thanks to all the COs for giving us a awesome trip
On a road trip with Team BOP, having a blast and gathering a few smileys along the way. Please excuse generic logs in advance. Many Thanks to all you cache owners for the placements. Cheers
I took a day off work to do some geocaching up in the Rangitikei area. Mostly to bulk out my numbers for the Hidden Creatures, but to also finish qualifying for a couple of challenge caches, plus a few other geocaching tasks. All good here. TFTC
Out and about with Taybee, Taybee NZ and Team Geocacher Mr. T finding caches. The plan today was to get 50 or so finds towards the Hidden Creatures Souvenir Challenge. For most of the day we had fine weather, but for some of the time it was rather wet. This did not dampen our spirits. To save space (and time) the logs were signed TB/NZ/FD. Thank you to all the COs for placing the caches. My apologies for the generic log.
three more to do to get the 50 for the day

We have been fans of David Bowie's music throughout the many changes during his long career, and are familiar with all but a couple of the songs used in this series. So we were keen to pick up this trail this morning before heading back home to Auckland. We had the promised quick Park'n'grab finds at almost all of them. Thanks
Quick find on the way to car racing at Manfeild. Nice to get out into the countryside again. TFTC.
Should have saved offline as had no information as no internet. Went by the gps only and was a quick find thanks.
Home for Christmas! Well, sort of. Anyway, first priority is cache maintenance. So I headed off to feilding, fixed a couple there, and now off to Halcombe.
I love David Bowie's work too. Especially his famous pieces. Cache container is getting rusty, although the lid is still good - for now.

I got very cheap flights to Wellington and back for the weekend, what a perfect excuse to come caching and find some that have been sitting on my to do list, and some more! TFTC!!
#9434. Park and grab on Managhs Road in Halcombe. The place was all quiet when we visited. Despite the coordinates being out somewhat, it was still a quick find. The cache was in good condition. Although the log was rather wet, the weather proof paper log did its job. Took nothing, left nothing, signed log.

Nice and quiet at GZ. Took a bit of floundering around in the water as the container was completely submerged. You couldn't get more water in the cache container if you tried.! Thank goodness for the waterproof log - so it was still perfectly signable.
I replaced it around the other side of the hint object where hopefully it will stay dryer.

Great afternoon with lil_taurus checking out the area... Thanks for the cache..
A quick easy find of another David Bowie cache. The suspiciously heavy cache was literally completely full of water. TFTC
Time for another geocaching trip with my matey 2 Bulbars, having just lost our good geocaching buddy Priceless Time (Michael Price) we decided that the best thing we could do was a weekend out caching in his memory. RIP Priceless, our thoughts are with you on your caching journey. So, after a quick drive down from New Plymouth we got into the caches: on Day 1, first to the west of Bulls then to the East and South finally into Fielding for the night and a few urban caches. Day 2 work our way back north and east to the CITO at the Rangiwahia bush track. Then back out to civilisation and home. So for this one it’s mission accomplished, this one is a wrap.TFTC! Have dropped off travelling companion spudnz and I still have a little bit of energy (and petrol) so might go and grab a few m&k caches whilst the mood takes me. I'm hoping/intending to get up to tripe figures of their caches for an up-coming Challenge cache placement that I also should qualify for before setting.. . . . . . . Grabbed some cars, colours, Bowie hits, planets . . . .
Today starts with daylight saving coming into effect which really means an extra hours caching, yay. I told my daughter I would be up and out early and was true to my word, was in the car and gone at 0600 just as light was breaking. I had a few targets for the day; do the zig-zag/ridge road power trail in Pohangina Valley with caching buddy spudnz, try and grab a D/T for my second lap around the track, try and get finds by a certain Manawatu cacher up to 100 finds for a Challenge cache I'm planning on setting, a big day is planned today. I ended up in triple figures, and even finishing at 4.30 while the day still had light in it, virtually unheard of. Still, 7 hours caching can take it out of you! Thanks to all of the COs whose hides I found today; some awesome caches out there and not easy to maintain for others - well done everyone

While I am not a huge fan, I do enjoy some of David Bowie's music and I have the Best of Bowie CD in my collection. I have been aware of this series for some time and today seemed to be a good one to make a start. The cache was very wet but I have a pen that deals admirably with these sort of situations.
This was always going to be a bit of a caching trip in the company once again of HKCB. Having though about it and done a fair bit of planning over the past couple of weeks this was a chance for a reasonable clean out of an area that we don't normally get to. So with families in mind, rather than setting out on the Friday evening we left home at 2am on the Saturday morning to make our way south before either the heat of the day or there was too much traffic on the road.
Some stats for the weekend
- Distance Traveled = 1457 kms
- Petrol = 3 x Fills
- Time Away from Home = 42 hours
- Straight Driving Time = 6 hours
- Sleep = 4 hours
- Caches Found = 250
- DNF's = 3
So after a straight forward drive down here this was the first that we located of what was going to be a very long day, and followed by another very long day.
While I apologize that these are 'copy & paste" logs, I would just like to say thank you to all the CO's that have have put out and maintained these caches for us out of 'non-locals' to find. It was a great weekend and we traveled though some amazing countryside.
A key learning from the weekend was that a Mazda CX5 is not designed to ford rivers.
So thank you for the placement, thank you for the cache.

On a weekend mission with Cats&Dragons, for a bit of a numbers run along the new trails around the Northern Manawatu area, and anything else along the way. As usual these types of trips mean maximizing caching time and minimizing sleep time. So with a 2am start time Saturday morning we left home and headed South, and not getting back home til 8.30pm Sunday night. Some numbers for the trip as I know we all like caching stats are:
* 1450km traveled.
* 286 caches found (192 on Saturday, 94 on Sunday) with only 3 DNF's
* 4 hours sleep
* With a 3 hour each way drive to the Caching area, so about 32 hours of caching in the 42 hours we were away at an average of nearly 9 caches per hour, this isn't including stopping for fuel and coffee!!!
So a huge thanks to all the CO's for the placements, and for the reason to see some more of our wonderful country, we saw some pretty amazing places. Sorry for the copy and paste logs. We signed the log books HKCD, or HKCBC&D.

It wasn't so much a case of “Trains and Boats and Planes” today, more one of Cars and Songs and Colours, with the odd Planet thrown into the mix. I enjoyed a nice day in the country with the sun on my back. Cheers and thanks for all the caches. TFTC
A quick park and grab while passing by this way from another cache. There was a bit of water in the container and in the bag with the log, however the waterproof paper was fine. Dried everything out as best we could and returned container to hiding spot so that hopefully it will be less likely to collect water in the future. TFTC.
#1160. A group of us had just finished returning the Devils Knot to it's hide so were passing this one on the way home. We needed a quick easy find after the previous cache so couldn't pass this by. Made the quick find and returned the cache after drying it as much as possible. Thanks marisa & kaleb.
quick find with a group of like minded individuals after a collective exorcism of the nearby Devil's Knot.

We are setting a personal geocache speed record I'm sure. Very satisfying being so successful for once. TFTC.
Headed out with Popmac to make a few more finds to assist reaching my goal of 3000 by the end of the year. No problems locating the cache today. Thanks for the hide.
Another Saturday trip planned by D6NZ, this time joined by KButterflyNZ, starting at the Rangitikei river bridge in Bulls and skirting inland to eventually pop out on the northern side of Fielding.
Quick find along the way. All good.

Collecting another David Bowie cache, and being reminded of some great melodies. Thanks m&k.
Out with MissT to pick up a bunch of marisa&kaleb caches. Had MissT doing most of the finding and some of the signing. Nice drive through the country as we go. Thanks for the placement of this series marisa&kaleb and apologies for the repetitive logs.
Out looking for marisa@kaleb geocaches with LGLNZ. This was a fun experience with my Poppa. I found most of the caches, some with Poppa's help. I signed some logs too.
Located these power trail caches as I returned from a joint caching trip with Jono and MJMNZ from Whanganui looking for 'cars' so as I past these power ones I thought I should take advantage of them while I was passing.. They were all straight forward caches , with co-ords reasonably right and excellent hints . But I did discover it is a lot easier to locate them when travelling toward Halcombe rather than away from Halcombe.
Took the wrong turning after the Mega so taking the long way home. Finding new caches in area not been for a long time TFTC
Back on this trail which evokes many memories. This one sure lived up to its name - as it was a bit of a rebel as we found it partying down the road quite a bit. TFTC #9547
It's not shop til you drop today - - - it's cache til you drop. Almost time to call it a day. We're not going to reach the heady heights we dreamed of - - - but we're going to reach our Level 1 goal (180) with a few in reserve. Thanks for your major contribution to our most excellent day caching . May you have lots of awesome caching adventures yourselves .
Heading towards the Mega. Thought it would be impolite not to grab a few on the way through. Thanks all for the hides.
Sanson to Fielding
How do you take 4 hours to get to a place that a local has told us should only take about 10minutes.
Thats easy, when your out searching for flashy motor cars, along farming country roads while completing not a power trail, but as I would have called it a TributeTrail to David Bowie.
This was great way to see the area.
Thanks for placing this cache marisa&kaleb

We set out on a short geocaching expedition this morning to clean up a few of the newer caches between Palmerston North and Halcombe.
#8 Quite glad to get off the rather busy road onto this quieter one. Good parking again, and a quick find. There is quite a deep, water-filled hole not far from the cache, but it is okay. TFTC

A quick find on the way home after grabbing some mystery caches for this weekends souvenir. I need to find some time to collect the rest of this series and the other new series around here.

With two more new caches up this way, I loaded onto GPS & decided to re-visit the area. This is another of the caches that I couldn't get on the phone yesterday. A quick park & grab. Last one for today. Thanks for the cache, marisa&kaleb.
As the day progressed we watched Popmac ticking off the newly published caches but some appeared to be skipped? What's with that we wondered? Being a part timer that finishes at 2.30pm it appeared there was still a possibility to get a few first to finds. I am new to first to finds and needed five more to get my bronze badge. So I went and got petrol and my wet weather pants (just in case) and then teamed up with Push 'n East and off we raced. Bingo! A joint {FTF} on this one. A nice quick park and grab. TFTC
Wow, a lot of notifications came through this morning. It was a slow day at work and by mid afternoon I was over it. I've been pulling some long hours over the past few weeks so made the call to knock off a little early to try and grab some first to find to earn the project GC badge. meet up with sunju and made a note of the ones still up for grabs that popmac had missed so we made our way around. Thanks for placing these new runs and the joint [FTF]
