Container has gone. Most probably washed away. Will not replace due to the risk of plastic containers being washed out into the ocean.
A shame, I think I found where it should have been but definately nowhere near by.
Came out this way to grab an Earthcache with Riser5 and got a few other caches along the way.
swapped penguin for a panda
Had a lunch stop here on the way back from looking at the Kauri trees. Nice little spot. Thanks for the cache. From Brisbane.
Found with PirateLinda. Followed in behind a rain shower so getting down low had its challenges. easy find. TFTC
lucky I had my grand children with me as they crawled under and found cache, but then decided if we had looked properly we would have found it and saved the crawling. TFTC
2.00pm. A day trip in the rain from Maungataroto taking in a few not visited before places and ended up at Dargaville for a late lunch. This was not far from where we parked in the main street so while the girls looked at the shops I went to the wharf. Soon spotted but then had to find a long stick to get it out as I didn't think much of the idea of crawling under when everything was so wet and muddy. I suspect the container was not in the original position but I returned it to where I found it.
Thank you. David.
Thank you. David.
This was a nice fun find!! The kids and I went out to find it as part of Coservation Week 2016. It was the first time I had taken my children geocaching and they loved it. We will endeavor to visit more sites around Northland!!
It was about 2pm by the time we arrived in Dargarville and parked quite close to the Northern Wairoa River - time for a late lunch before we look for any caches. We then walked along to the wharf and found the cache in the first place we checked. Thanks.
Coming up from Auckland I was planning to stay just up from Parahaki marae at some work mates I know for the weekend, so I thought I might divert to Dargaville first to see if I might be first to find this new cache and 2 others put out by DOC today. Upon arrival about 4pm, it was blowing a gail big time! I parked parallel to the river and was about to start looking for the cache, but the wind had other ideas, so I had to duck down beside my car or I could almost have been blown into the river! So I waited a minute then made my move to find the cache. It was an easy find with a good hint but I see that I wasn't first to find, how sad. It would have been nice if the person who got the FTF logged their entry *straight away*!!! At least then, we could see if it was worth chasing after!! Never mind, that's how it goes I suppose. Thanks DOC Whangarei for the cache and the accurate co-ords. (I have been on DOC caches before in Auckland with co-ords over 1km out!)
Oh yes for another FTF this morning while in town for school drop off. Did over the flax bush and nope not there. So where else could it be. Oh yes looks more like it. Very nice empty log book just fo Max and I .
