Wahoo the new bridge is coming https://www.odt.co.nz/regions/south-otago/work-beaumont-bridge-start-end-year

Now based on the area of work in and around the area I know the area this cache has been placed will be impacted by the works - so I am going to remove this cache this weekend.

For information on Geocaching during Covid19 in New Zealand please visit www.wiki.groundspeak.com/display/GEO/New+Zealand .

Note: geocaching is not allowed under Level 3 or 4.

Please note, not everyone logs as they go, so please approach this cache as if it has just been found, take care and keep up good social distancing and hand hygiene.

As the country enters a 4 week lockdown, it is strongly recommend that whilst we go for a walk for exercise, we need to take care on shared surfaces by avoiding them (this includes cache containers).... to remove temptation, I am disabling this cache. Remember there is more than physically finding a cache, there are plenty of puzzle caches you can do at home. For more info or connect with wider community see Geocaching New Zealand on Facebook.
Stay home, stay safe and save lives.

Apologies for the late logging and cut 'n' paste but now Mr & Mrs Castoff are back in the UK at the same time we're catching up on the Geocaching adventures. We took hundreds of photographs but were too busy looking at stunning scenery across NSW and New Zealand to make copious notes. SL. TFTC.

Happy to find there was a cache here as we all needed a car stop on our way to Queenstown. A little apprehensive with the amount of evidence of creepy crawlers but using the hint and some common sense meant we could quickly locate the cache and some welcome distraction. TFTC

Tiny but fun to find!!! Look hard

11-Aug-19
Headed out today to pick off a bunch of caches alongside the mighty Clutha, as part of a last-minute effort to grab the final souvenir for the Museum challenge. Just as I found the cache, a pair of muggles with rather loud speakers in their car apparently decided to swing by and have a rest stop. I wasn't too bothered, I took the cache aside and signed it out of sight, then waited until they'd gone to stop pretending to be a tourist and put the cache away. Cheers!

Found with RowenaD on a mystery at the museum series jaunt. Looking very wet around here today. Tftc

06-May-19
Having ridden our e-bikes from here to Miller's Flat and back on an overcast Autumn day, the sun came out just as we arrived back at the car park so I grabbed this one while Mrs KC went back a little to get some pix of the river in the sunshine. (So much better than the earlier ones).

Hate these nanos -- difficult to get the log out, even more difficult to replace log, but I guess that nothing else will work in a place like this.

TNLN. TFTC.

26-Apr-19
Empty the geo dogs and gained a geocache all in one spot

25-Apr-19
Found with StreetWalkerNZ on day 8 of our extended Easter break, today we are travelling from Clyde to Dunedin via Lake Mahinerangi on a beautiful Anzac day.
We pulled into the parking area and had an Anzac biscuit for morning tea, then strolled over to GZ. Nicely timed, as found the cache in Mrs Daywalk's hands, so quick find Wink. Good to catch up before continuing on our journey. TFTC.

25-Apr-19
#17065. Paper work was quickly done, as daywalk had cache in hand when we arrived. Good to catch uo for a chat before we headed off in opposite directions. TFTC.

25-Apr-19
Found on a sunny ANZAC day cruise.

25-Apr-19
At last! We unpacked the bikes, scurried over, ther it is! An instant find! And then a call from across the car park, have you found it yet? Troodles and Streetwalker just in time to share the signing and a short chat. Then they left to go to the OPQ Battery and we biked off to do some cache maintenance at the Teviot Woolshed.

27-Mar-19
Over here today for a quick bike ride to Lawrence- had previously looked and not found so pretty determined today.
TFTC Natalie and a quick find

25-Mar-19
New one in place in bottom corner of roof. Please put back as found.
Passing by this cache as I headed to Alex to go to some maintenance on discovering gold, then the plan was to go back home via clydevale to check on some of those caches on the trail.

This one we did not find on a cycle ride down the Clutha Gold Trail Roxburgh to Lawrence. A lovely ride with vistas of the Clutha River, the soft spring green growth on the willows and snow on the tops TFTC

31-Aug-18
Quick find, by this stage we are just doing left hand side PnGs only, so all good here. TFTC Natalie247.

Day three of a week on the road, Wanaka to Dunedin.
As we had a late arrival into Wanaka the previous night, it would be a shame to leave this town without checking out the views. So a cool morning and a walk around the waterfront to get some caches and photo ops, then after that a visit to Puzzle World, where Jo has never been.
After that, our targets were pretty loose - three caches around Roxburgh (one DNF), and a couple of others on the way there. Then, once we had made contact with the family and had rendezvous details for Dunedin we grabbed some PnGs on the way - just ones our side of the road worked well as a plan and got us to Dunners on time.
Got into our excellent digs, settled in with a walk round the neighbourhood and caught up on gossip. TFTC to all COs of the caches we found on the way.

03-Jul-18
Will check on it soon.

01-Jul-18
Sorry Natalie but after you giving me the location and 5 of us looking I really think the cache is missing.

01-Jul-18
Had a really decent look for this one and we are certain it ain't there. It may be way up high but it certainly isn't where it should be.

06-May-18
Many thanks to all the COs who helped make our geocaching holiday a great success
We left home early April and returned 21 May 2018. We toured from our home base up to a wedding in North Taranaki then carried on heading south right down through wellington and on down the west coast and back up via the eastern side of the alps some times going around in circles. Our aim was to get as many smiley faces on the puzzle caches that we had solved but of course stopping for many traditionals, multies and others as we went. some time we biked the bike trails or walked but mostly by campervan. we enjoyed the quite back country roads, many of them were metal but we just travelled along slowly going from cache to cache. Most caches were in good condition and I will remark if we thought it needs maintence etc.

08-Apr-18
Mr D kindly allowed Mrs D one last try at this one on our way back home. Result: very dirty fingers from poking them right down into the gaps, but no cache.

02-Apr-18
Mrs D was driving, so we parked here 'just for a quick look'... poked fingers in every corner... oh, the frustration!

10-Mar-18
Still looking under the Green Umbrella! Sad

10-Mar-18
No luck today despite 4 lot of eyes looking.

06-Feb-18
What a relief to finally get a find today!

07-Jan-18
Stopped to change drivers - can we have a fast look for this cache? We did a quick once-over of usual spots, collected lots of spiderwebs but no cache today.

06-Jan-18
A bit of a search, but it was found and then some fun was had as we extracted it. A New log roll was added (nice one TT) as it was needed for our group to be able to sign log
Tftc - nanos are a .... in the .... Wink lol

06-Jan-18
This one had us scratching our heads. We did the standard once over... then back over... then a more thorough search ensued. We hoisted others up to get a better view point, poked fingers into nooks and crannies a little deeper, and checked out another nearby feature. I'd just finished saying "nope, let's move on" when the cache was found.

06-Jan-18
This one had us literally scratching our heads for about 15 minutes. Too many spiders around for my liking, poking fingers into hidey holes. About to give up, and i heard something, and voila cache in hand. Log book was full... luckily i had a spare in the wallet, hope the CO doesn't mind that i swapped it.

28-Dec-17
Smallest one yet! TFTC

18-Dec-17
Needed to boost up one of the chicks but his young eyes spotted this! Log appears to be full so need a new one Smile

10-Dec-17
Waited for a muggle family to move on (fancy using the picnic tables) then Bitsprayer made the find, admist my groaning about nanos being the bain of my life, he had it out and undone.
Thanks
erninz

10-Dec-17
Great day out caching in the area, lot of neat caches, and interesting spots. Many Thanks Bitsprayer

10-Dec-17
Not for me today.

25-Oct-17
Neither "umbrella" is green, so I checked both. The brown one I could just reach the corners, but the cream one was way beyond my reach. Depending which structure (maybe even for the lower one), a large number of people will need something to stand on to reach. Not 1.5 star terrain.

Took a lovely weekend drive up through Heriot and Beaumont, before following the Clutha river down to Clydevale and heading home. We enjoyed all the caches we did on the way, thanks for the hide Smile

11-Aug-17
Yep, missed it completely. Note to self - let your fingers do the walking and don't try the hardest places first. Relieved to finally find the little one. *5 spaces left on the logstrip*. Thanks for bringing us here for the cache.
The road to Awesome is closed until further notice. Another excuse to come back.

08-Aug-17
I was keen to locate this cache after not finding last time completely my fault as I had the totally wrong hint fixed in my head and searched the wrong place... this time with a hint correctly in my head it was a quick find and so it was quickly signed and replaced. I took nothing and left nothing. Thank you for this cache and another face.

23-Jul-17
I believe this cache is ok following heavy rainfall over last 48 hrs, however roads in the area have been affected. A state of Emergency is still in place - for upto date info on roads go to www.dunedin.govt.nz/road-conditions
A large portion of my caches have been in affected area and I am currently through work/voluenteering have to focus on other post flooding activities.
As I expect it will be at least 1 week until I can do effective maintenance runs to check and replace caches I apologise now if you were hoping to claim this for a dot day/Mary Hyde gold and it is not in its expected state.
I would be grateful for any comments on what needs to be done and help empty water and provide dry logs.

09-Jun-17
Lots of spider webs. I don't like spiders.

14-May-17
The strange sounding hint became obvious when we arrived, and the cache was a quick easy find, with some interesting history to read. TFTC

24-Apr-17
Ooops red light and parked behind a cop. Think we will come back for this one another day. Thanks for placing them, when we can grab them that is. Next time.

13-Apr-17
Staying at Miller's Flat Campground. Now the weather has cleared we decided to do a drive down the Millennium Track road to Beaumont , drive along the main highway to Miller's Flat & collect a few caches along the way to add to our holiday talley. Thanks to the cache owners for placing caches along the way. The Clutha is certainly "awesome "

26-Mar-17
Found this one while on a holiday from our home in Whangamata. Signed G8 on the log TFTC

19-Mar-17
Found while cycling the Clutha Gold trail from Roxburgh to Beaumont. One of the cycling guides got keen on helping me find geocaches today and together we found it, thanks.

02-Mar-17
Out for a day catching up on some finds . TFTC

15-Feb-17
All quiet here at the moment, only one other car in the carpark.

10-Feb-17
The carpark was full when we arrived today. But it turned out a couple of the vehicles were the support crew/baggage carrier for a group of bikers. Some arrived at the same time as us looking for their lunch but luckily decided to bike over the bridge to have a look at Beaumont while waiting for others to arrive. Quite a tricky one to spot.
