On a geocaching jaunt this fine Waitangi Day afternoon to pick up the caches along the Clutha Valley-Clutha River-Rongahere Roads route - never been to Beaumont via this way before - ended up missing a few due to complete mobile coverage dropout crippling the app, so will be back this way another day. Overshot GZ and saw a multitude of rocks and thought "uh oh', then saw I needed to take a 60m walk or so, thought 'uh oh' again as I seemed to run out of visible rocks, but then ... one big one loomed out (not literally reflective though as I had incorrectly interpreted from the title, lol) from amongst the long grass on approach and there was the hint of a caching trail ... aha, got it! I wonder if the people in the house across the way notice and wonder about the visitors to this rock. Tftc.
Since we had to go the long way this Cache came into line first. Great find. Thanks to an organised trip with P&Vee and Hubbies.
A day out with Mr & Mrs VDH56. The first aim for the day was to take the punt across the river from North to South. This wasn't to be as the river was too low so back on the road after a cuppa without any milk (I forgot it). We wouldn't of found this if the punt was working as we were headed to Beaumont to finish off the series but got to get it. Mrs VDH56 sooon had the cache in hand.
A nice quick find thanks. Good parking nearby!
Ms_KR and I are on a wee South Island break. Today we headed up the Clutha from Kaitangata, and on up to Alexandra. Not too many people drive the road up to Beaumont, and the road has been sealed since we last drove it 25 or so years ago. A nice day for it too, with only a few light showers.
Thanks to all CO's for publishing and maintaining their caches. Cheers.

Before we arrived we were wondering just how many hint items we would have to search. Not many as it turned out.
+ a large marble, - nothing.

Need 50 today for a Geocaching Licence Challenge. Thanks for all CO's placing these, especially those with safe parking. This is number 36.
Heading southeast from Roxburgh in my cachemobile locating caches that I wouldn't be able to stop at with my snail shell on behind.
Cheers for the cache.
Cheers for the cache.
When you find a pen sitting on top of a hint item, you know you are close! Nice quick find here. Put pen inside cache and replaced as found. TFTC.
As the country enters Level 4 (lockdown), https://covid19.govt.nz
It is strongly recommend that whilst we go for a walk for exercise, we need to take care on shared surfaces and geocaching should not be done at this time; https://wiki.groundspeak.com/display/GEO/New+Zealand
To remove temptation, I am disabling this cache and ask kindly that you do not find this cache during lockdown.
Remember there is more than physically finding a cache, there are plenty of puzzle caches you can do at home. Or if you live near a multi you can walk the trail and save the find for another day. For more info or connect with wider community see Geocaching New Zealand on Facebook.

Quick snag and tag here. Cheers.
Thursday 12 November. Its exploring the Clutha River today to Beaumont and back down to Lawrence. Lets get moving Toby.
Toby, Zara and I are on a 3 week geo adventure of Cromwell, Southland, Catlins, Balclutha with a day in Dunedin and quick stop in Timaru. With Lenny, my trusty navigator and TBD my companion/mascot. we managed to visit lots of green boxes, now happy faces with the odd sad one. Did some LABs , earth caches, virtuals and wherigos, all chucked into the mix to rack up 500 odd caches. Lots of kilometers, lots of exploring and lots of fun. Thanks to all COs for our wonderful experience.

Another cache that I have passed on numerous occasions, this time I was prepared to look for a good place to park on the side of the road. Hint of the largest rock was easy, it was the only one I could spot the top of in the long grass! tftc Nat

Headed out today to pick off a bunch of caches alongside the mighty Clutha, as part of a last-minute effort to grab the final souvenir for the Museum challenge. Another straightforward one, no real issues - not even muggle drivers for a change. I don't know what Natalie meant by "hardly seen by Kiwis" - this was about the only muggle-free window I had for the day. Cheers!
Found on a Geo mission with RowenaD. Working on the mystery at the museum series. Tftc
Found on a sunny ANZAC day cruise. Probably 30 years since we last went down this road.
Found last Sunday with Gabby59 after a successful afternoon at the Clutha Valley hunting competition. Enjoyed the size of this cache. Been a while since I've found one this big!
Actually found on Sunday. Tftc. I hadn't noticed the rock formation before. Very cool
Passing by this cache as I headed to Alex to go to some maintenance on discovering gold, then the plan was to go back home via clydevale to check on some of those caches on the trail.
All good here.
All good here.
On our South Island adventure from Perth WA. A nice easy find with Spuddycakes in tow. TFTC
Let the geo-kid off the leash for this one and he had it found pretty quickly, TFTC
Today I was driving from Tapanui in Central Otago, through to Dunedin, stopping to find a few caches along the way. This cache was found along the way. TFTC! (Apologies for my log being over 4 months late!)
Recent floods in area, in particular the River Clutha means this cache could be in poor condition or missing. I am unsure if can make it before Christmas to check on it. Please do not do a throw down... but emptying water or adding in new paper would be rewarded with good karma thoughts from this CO.
A quick park and grab on our way to Alexandria to pick up a cache or two.
After A early morning drop off of the younger geo Kids at a camp.
A road trip was in order .
So off we go let,s see where we end up . Annielin in the navigators seat calling the shots with a let's go this way and then let's go that.

Had to reflect on what the title was for a while but got there in the end. A big container which was nice to see. TFTC
Not quite sure what was reflective, but after looking for a rock we found the cache. TFTC
Quick find TFTC - have been wanting to get the cashes up this road since they were published. Really enjoyed my trip today, pretty sure I have not been up this road before
thanks Natalie for placing and maintaining

You must be very observant Natalie247 as I couldn't see any rocks let alone reflective ones. Got there in the end though. TFTC # 12,180
Found a rock where we could imagine Natalie sitting and reflecting lol
Very nice on this sunny day
Found something hidden and signed log

Great day out caching in the area, lot of neat caches, and interesting spots. Many Thanks Bitsprayer
Been meaning to do the Beaumont --> Balclutha run for a while, today was the day. A series of well hidden, easy finds. Thanks.
I picked off a few "park 'n' grabs" down this road to extend my trip, making the drive over Mahinerangi worthwhile. Thanks.
I believe this cache is ok following heavy rainfall over last 48 hrs, however roads in the area have been affected. A state of Emergency is still in place - for upto date info on roads go to www.dunedin.govt.nz/road-conditions
A large portion of my caches have been in affected area and I am currently through work/voluenteering have to focus on other post flooding activities.
As I expect it will be at least 1 week until I can do effective maintenance runs to check and replace caches I apologise now if you were hoping to claim this for a dot day/Mary Hyde gold and it is not in its expected state.
I would be grateful for any comments on what needs to be done and help empty water and provide dry logs.

Returning home from a short winter break near Alexandra and decided to branch right at Beaumont and take the path less travelled. Very grateful to all the COS for their caches that took us this way. Well worth the detour. Forgive the copied logs bit too many to personalise. TFTC
A quick easy find in the obvious location, although we would classify a cache this size as regular, not small. TFTC
Got a good park and looked at the hint, ok. Tried the biggest one but big cache was found at the next one. SL, all in good condition. Getting dark. TFTC
Having a lovely picnic amongst the most stunning scenery. and finding a few caches around this lovely road. Thanks for the excuse to visit. And for the well maintained caches.
Interesting. Co'ods had me at a reasonably sized specimen but after rounding the items a couple of times seeing some fossicking signs, had to broaden my search, 500ml cache was found further along by 25mt. Threw in some swag, a pen and grabbed the goods in PVC baggy. CITO'd tins on walk to and from the cache. TFTC
A great feature of all these river side caches is the very good parking options near GZ, TFTC
Heading back to Dunedin so another Geodetour is in order to get the remaining caches along the River. Nice quick and easy find. TFTC
Out for a day hunting down the caches along the Clutha with Kiwigeoswami. A nice and easy find Thanks
The house opposite looked abandoned this afternoon. Wonder if anyone lives there? TFTC
Papa and Guwapo on a road trip with Debsnz and Aorakisheep. A quick find by Guwapo. Salamat!
A good place to pull in and a search of the obvious soon had us smiling Found with Aoraki Sheep and Guwapo
(FTF) #91 @2356 second late of these and off home for Sirbennis and I there has been some interesting locations on this trek. TFTC
