Today we're heading north for an end-of-year getaway to Launceston. As always, we're picking up a few caches along the way. Unlike normal though, we've elected this time to head to the Midlands highway via Richmond and Mud Walls Rd since we're running out of caches to find along the main route.
This ended up being our first cache of the day. Pulling up to the GZ, we were greeted by the sight of several very impressive statues perched upon the hillside amid the flutter of hundreds of flags - very impressive!
Unfortunately for us the road was very busy, which made it tricky to track down the cache without looking too suspicious. We took a few turns pretending to take some photos, before we soon spotted a promising-looking item nearby. The cache container hidden within seemed very appropriate and gave us both a bit of a chuckle!
Thanks for a great way to start the day!

Found on the way home from my grandson 2nd birthday party and I have to say this cache made me smile TFTC
Thoroughly enjoying our week of Tasmanian geocaching adventures. Today finds us exploring the Derwent Valley. This is a lovely find in a cute location. TFTF. Pity we couldn’t get in to see the Divas up close.
Your cache certainly made me laugh! Thank you ausandaus2. Fascinating place for sure.
An odd place to stop but we wondered what is going on the other side of the road, a good hide.
Today I got mum our and took her caching, after missing some caches in Richmond the other week with JLROCKSTAR I thought we would come back down and clean up the area. A nice couple of multis and a great walking trail was thoroughly enjoy with some local ice cream at the end. Total of 21 finds with no DNFs.
I am currently writing detailed logs because of a challenge provided by Project-GC. "The Author" Badge challenges geocachers to average one hundred words or more in each log. Given that I have found so many GC caches, I have to write many logs with well over 100 words for a long period of time to get my average to the target. Apologies to anyone who finds the logs tedious but it is the only way that I can strive to attain this challenge. After over 5000 plus caches (which includes all cache finds up and including yesterday), the average log length is just over 70 words. I am now entertaining the possibility that I might be able to achieve my task before the end of next year. It's surprising how much is has increase since doing this.

Magnificent stone statues, thanks ausandaus2 for this location where we definitely took a picture with your camera well almost. Muggle traffic but nicely disguised hide and crafty cache (wouldn't expect anything less from you) at GZ.

Container made me chuckle. No stealth even needed with that one!

Spent the day on beautiful Maria Island today and this one was the only one we stopped for on the way to our accommodation. Worthy of a favourite point from us for not one but two good cache containers!
Tassie Trip Day 61 - It was a lovely day for a drive and after going for the shopping it was soon decided to travel out to the lovely little town of Jerico then on to the lovely town of Oatlands returning via Campania and Tee Tree it was a great little dive yielding 15 finds and 1 DNF for the day.
Travelling past the gate this wonderful place missed the name and didn't see the heavenly devas until we arrived at a suitable parking spot just parst GZ made my way back to find a perfect picture opportunity but alas the camera didn't work but the log was signed and returned to its hiding spot.
Thanks ausandaus2 for showing us this interesting place.

Not the first place I looked, but found after I expanded my search. TFTC ausandaus2.
In Tassie for a few days of laughs and caching with Sean.75, Jenno3 and kenare. We decided it was time to stretch our legs so we aimed for this cache. Great spot! tftc
Oooo man it was nice to stop and stretch. What a nice place with an apt cache container. Tftc
PhotoDriving alone I see a sign which tells me there is a photo opportunity but what is it. Instincts tells me ther will be a cache there as well and sure enough there is. Photo taken. Thanks for placing the hide here.
Found after the Dancing With The Devil at Colebrook, and a few Devil caches. Took the back way from Campania and found this cache on my way home.
Thanks for the cache!
Thanks for the cache!
Wow was not expecting such a cool cache! That was really well thought out loved it TFTC!
Parked up on the side of the road and wandered over to GZ for a quick find and very clever hide. Definitely deserves a favourite point - an ideal hide considering where we parked. TFTC ausandaus2
So many cars... I looked suss & pretended to have either carsickness or be taking photos of cows/ sculptures Thanks
Found on the way home from Richmond today. Love the statues, and a really cool cache container.

Myself and Goose of GooseandEgg were out getting him 'fix' today so i picked him up and drove out here from Hobart. At GZ we made a quick find before we headed off to find some GCA's 'on the way home' this involved covering 400km covering what we are starting to call our 'local area

Hmm! Our base at the moment is Richmond, and I covered it in smileys yesterday, so what now? Ah, this one looks like it is within range of the geocycle, so I can honour my ZHCE (Zero HydroCarbons Expended) policy. But from the description and logs it looks as though it could be tricky, so I set out with some trepidation. Well, Heavenly Devas did not disappoint! Mind the muggles it said. Cover by pretending to take a photo it said! Then - talk about going above and beyond.... Well done ausandaus2, I really enjoyed this one and the 10km ride was well worth it. I have a smile on my face as well as another smiley on the map!
After grabbing a near-by FTF we decided to pick up some of the more recent hides that we had failed to visit. Tried a couple of places before believing the GPS and then quickly located the clever hide and even cleverer cache container. Very well done.

Found this one on our way tot the Tasman Peninsula for Xmas. Very novel cache. Thanks Ausandaus2
As soon as I saw the owner of this cache I new that it would be clever and well designed. I was not disappointed. Well done Aussie and TFTC .
Haven't driven along this road in quite a few years, so with a free afternoon decided to go for a little drive to have a look at what is being constructed out here. Great place for a cache and very cool container .... very clever recycling! Thanks for the cache ausandaus2
Stopped and had a look couldn't find cache, took photos and was going to leave when decided to have another look after discussing where cache would be. 2nd look proved fruitful. Love this cache so get a fav from us. TFTC
This was an easy grab with an ingenious cache design. Actually had to "use" it when a car pulled up nearby!! Thankfully it didn't stay long. SL and replaced. Favourite from me!
A quick detour on our way back out to the highway. Magnificent statues on the hill and a lovely cache. Took some photos and then on our way. Thanks for the cache and for bringing us to a spot we wouldn't have known about if not for caching
ausandaus2 thank you for the cache.
A very nice cleaver hide.
found easily once the GPS settled down.

Clever hide nice cache little traffic on Sunday after cricket from last cache TFTC TNLN log dry overcast day rain off and on
The rain had finally caught up with us and we decided to wait in the car until this shower passed. Whilst waiting we looked across the road from the parking area and we saw things rarely seen in the country, let alone Tassie - very interesting. We wondered if this was the end point or just the start of a an even larger cultural area. Then the rain stopped and it was off to GZ where accurate coordinates led to a quick find of a very well planned and designed cache. After a little exploration, we retrieved the logbook which was in good conditions. Thanks ausandaus2 for another very enjoyable caching experience - another favourite from us.
When this cache was published I was 10 minutes away but unaware a new cache had been placed. It goes to show I should have checked my phone before leaving the area. What a great spot for a cache, a great hide as usual. Deserves a favourite. TFTC
After the two other caches I wanted to add this one to our tally as it was the only ausandaus2 we had left to find. We stopped at another park, Pontville this time, so the kids could have a play and we could have a coffee. Last time we were here the police were swarming across the road at at the scene of a stabbing, thankfully today it was uneventful apart from Miss J having a spill off the swing. I soon got itchy feet so off we went down Ford Road to connect to Tea Tree Road and our last cache chase. We parked at the convenient pull off (and used most of our allotted 15 minutes) and had lots of trouble with the GPS sending us up and down and even across the road. With certain things discounted we concentrated in a particular area that ended up being the wrong place but the right idea. As the egg went to get her phone to a second signal I found it. Oh thank goodness. Now we looked the part too for the stream of passing motorists! Three from three, very happy with that. We left a couple of other caches up around Broadmarsh for another day. A favourite for this one too. Well done. TFTC
TFTC, well crafted cache unfortunately the camera was flat so we were unable to take a photo, also no log but I'm not sure if that is on purpose or not
Hi aus&aus
Arrived at GZ and made a quick find.
Smiled for the camera but didn't get a good a shot!
Sainted the cache at 1640hrs.
Can't say I'm a fan of Australian land being sold to overseas interests, but this is no time to get political.
