11:06After catching the 5:24 train and celebrating the Solstice on Brighton Pier, the plan, obviously, was to kick on for more caches, like the nearby SideTracked ones.Well, n0w0rries and I got sidetracked, all right... as we were heading for the first station, a couple of emails arrived, and suddenly we were off to Churchill and Lysterfield Parks to look for a shiny new Challenge.Mission accomplished. Now, this cache is not very far from the new one. The altitude difference certainly made it a workout, I can tell you. Thanks, BushwalkingBandit. No shortage of roos during today's walk.#8916
Found it but it is very water damaged.
Log isn't usable anymore. Maybe if it is dried out.
Looks like the rains pushed it downhill a few metres and the cache was in a puddle.

Due to unforeseen circumstances Mr Smokey Bear will no longer be a part of Team Smokey Bear and will continue his adventures as "SmokeyBearOG".
So I'm relogging all previous finds under my new account.
Unfortunately this log will not show the original logging date.
**Thanks to BushwalkingBandit for this adventure, looking forward to many more.**

I had come up the hill from the West and every trail I found was going the wrong way. As such it was a crawl under thicjk dead bracken, climb over boulders, or push thru logs of bushes. As such I was exhausted by the time I got here. Signed this one at 4.30 pm.
Then I continued my uphill bush bash knowing there was a trail in that direction according to my map.
Thanks for the cache Bush Walking Bandit

Found by Rebel Acts in the company of Tiz13
We had put this are on our to do list a few Months back and today was the day that finally arrived, did not go exactly to plan as I got an early call from Tiz to say her car had a flat battery, My car was going into Nissan to day for a repair job so that was not available, thankfully the Racv were quick on the job today and Tiz soon picked me up and we were on our way, we found a parking spot closest to our first cache, trouble is there was no access but a gap between to gates, well I went trough sucking my belly in and contorting through, not easy for a 55 year old and then the five hours of walking began, I am not sure why I play this game, stuffed arm from a truck and a prolapsed L5 had my hips feeling like my legs were going to pop out the sockets by the end of the day.
There is Bush Bashing and now there is what we call Homburg Bashing, guaranteed to take you where no sane person would go.
By the end of the day I collapsed in the car as Tiz drove us home and yes I got up the next day and went out again.
Was to hot for the Roo's today, most were hiding in the shade.
Thanks BushwalkingBandit for the cache.

The plan to visit Lysterfield to collect the challenge caches with Rebel Acts had been made months ago. Executing the plan, happened today. In true Tiz13 fashion, the day did not go to plan. The Geo car had a flat battery that delayed our start time. Getting into the park from where we parked was somewhat hilarious and involved alot of contorting, needless to say injuries were sustained. What we thought might be some mild bush bashing turned into a term we are calling ahomburg bashing .
While collecting the challenge caches Rebel Acts Insisted we went the extra distance to locate a few other traditional caches in the area. This is one of the caches we located and signed today. Strangely not many Skippy's sighted today, they must have been keeping cool elsewhere.

The plan had been to go a to lunch time Event and then come to Churchill Park to claim a challenge I had completed... and any other caches that were vaguely on my route... but the weather forecast changed that to *an early start to beat the heat*...
I came to this cache by an unconventional route that, with hindsight, is one that shouldn't be taken for two reasons...
I had just successfully completed **(Some assembly required)** and decided to continue east to this cache. Sure, there is a big fence in the way... but from previous visits further north in this park, I had the impression that this was an old fence that was no longer relevant as the park had been expanded... not so as I was soon to discover!
I found a spot where the fence was partly broken down and found my way over it. It was then quite easy going in the general direction of this cache until I had covered about half the distance. It was then that I found myself wandering through *cow pats* and came to another fence. No wonder it had been such easy going, I had been wandering through Private Property !!!
Fortunately the second fence was even easier to get through (because I doubt if I would have been able to get back over the first fence...) and, if I hadn't admitted it here for the education of other cachers, no one would have known.
With the second fence negotiated, it was back to finding my way through the scrub to the cache. Eventually arrived at GZ, found the cache and signed the log. Now all I had to do was find my way out to Woodland Walk... and this is when the second reason why you shouldn't use the route I had taken became evident. The description talks of a * faint track heading up the hill*... from the top, I had no idea where this track was and had to *bush bash* my way out!
Thanks **BushwalkingBandit** for the cache... and for a bit of an adventure that you probably didn't plan for...

Beautiful peaceful spot, just the roos watching the weird human poking around in the bushes. Thank you for bringing me here!
It took me longer to find this than it probably should have, but I found the cache eventually. It was very peaceful up here being far away from other walkers and the busy trails of Lysterfield Park.
A terrific spot up here, which indeed had a few kangaroos on it (though not many today). A nice walk to get here and some nice views (well, glimpses, really). TFTC
30Dec 2021. A crazy year almost over went for a final ride for the year and found kangaroo knoll. Such a lovely place up here with views for ever. I went middle of the day so the Roos were much wiser than me and were hiding in the shade. My tip would be go early morning or at sunset
I left a little token in the cache and hope he continues his journey around the world. Have a great new year all

Traveled out East again for a late lunch, so I decided to take the deadly treadly out to Lysterfield / Churchill Park to find a few challenges. A bit of backwards and forwards with some paths closed to bikes, but I ended up getting to most of the ones I wanted too.
I started fairly early this morning and so have seen heaps of kanga bouncers! Lots around this cache as well.
Thanks for the good sized cache at this nice spot.
Thanks, Robmc.

Easy find number 5 of the day. Yes there was a kangaroo up on the knoll. And lots on the walk up here from Lysterfield Park.
With an RDO today and a leave pass from the Minister of War and Finance, I had an invite from a caching friend in the East to come over for the weekend and do some caching together, an offer to good to refuse as living in Ballarat I don't often get over to this part of the world. So I had pretty much all day to myself today so I planned to sign all the challenge caches in this park and pick up whatever else I happened to go past.
A reasonably quick find at the end of a long walk in this part of the park. Got a bit hairy though when I went back to my bike then couldn't remember where the track was! Appropriately, a large mob of kangaroos led the way out for me. Thx to the Bushwalking Bandit for the hide. The logbook was a little damp but otherwise signable.

Thank you for the fun hide -- couldn't find a track as such, but pretty straightforward anyway.

Apologies late log as I’m cleaning up that drafts list I have not checked. Luckily it’s within cooee of mum,s and I could come here and check out most spots on the trusty tredly- just has day to abandon the wheels occasionally. This part of the park is really nice and the vista up here near GZ is fantastic. The cache was quickly located soon enough. There were a few kanagroos along the way, but none who wanted to be observed this afternoon. Thanks to BushwalkingBandit for placing this cache.

What a lovely spot. Took the walk in from the Churchhill parking spot and really enjoyed the meander over to GZ. Took around 30mins. This may be the last as stage 4 restrictions expected today. Well as long as the parks are still open I'll be back for the daily excerise as it is so close to home. Thanks for bringing me here. Day 30 of a 366 streak challenge attempt. Now to listen to our leader Dan Andrews on an update of the numbers...

Well, I feel I was duped here as I asked around and none of the roos was called Noel.
I did, however, enjoy my walk around Churchill Park today. Weather was just right, and this was an area of the park I had not previously seen. Cache is in good condition.

Surprisingly no kangaroos at GZ, although we did encounter quite a few on our way in. Cache found and log signed, we then took a moment to enjoy the beauty of this area.
Thank you for bringing us here BushWalkingBandid.

The final cache found on my long walk through the park this morning. Saw more kangaroos in one day than on any previous day I can recall. Cache was found relatively quickly and in good condition. Now for the walk to the car...
Found your cache today. saw few kangaroos BushwalkingBandit, thank you so much for placing it.
Caching day at Churchill National Park. Beautiful day and place! Saw kangaroos & horses. Thank you BushwalkingBandit for placing the cache and fun.
It's nice to discover new places off the beaten track! We had to be careful as a massive Dad kangaroo was watching us - we kept going and then found a large mob of kangas. The cache was found soon after.
Thanks BushwalkingBandit!

Out for a bit of a wander around Churchill National Park to find a few more caches that are either new or I now qualify for since I was here last.
This has been here for a while but I seemed to not go near it but today while chasing some challenge caches, we ended up close by to this one so we had to go that little bit further to GZ.
With the very good coordinates we were able to make a quick find.

After my trip back from Queanbeyan for the mega it had been four days since I had found a cache. Today it was time to get out and find a few and with so many still to find in the area this was a good option. Nice to find a decent size container in the bush.

I was in the park today trying to complete a few missions and this cache was one of them. On arrival at GZ I was greeted by a magnificent area guarded by the 40 or so cache-guardians! A nice easy find, thanks so much for bringing me here!
We soon found this nicely hidden cache once at Ground Zero while out hiking in this lovely park. We signed the log book and then replaced as found. Thanks so much for the cache and greetings from Zimbabwe
Out with the elder geokid today to pick up some more caches at Churchill National Park. We had an intro Churchill last week picking up a couple so he was eager to grab a few more this week and challenge himself for a longer walk. This would be last cache for today as we've spent most of this morning at Churchill. The legs on geokid definitely had a decent workout and it was starting to show. When we arrived at GZ, geokid quickly spotted the cache.
We struck GOLD! We'll find a new hiding spot for this gold TB. Log signed and replaced.

Well, this one sure lived up to its name. I approached in the late afternoon - probably around 7pm - and there were lots of kangaroos to be disturbed by my approach. Not as many as on the little hillock just to the west - there there were probably over 50 chilling out in the later afternoon sunshine.
Thanks for the cache.

The Woodland track is one that I have not explored fully before, so enjoyed the walk along. This part of the park is lovely and the vista up here near GZ is fantastic. The cache was quickly located and my name added to the log. There were a few kanagroos along the way, but none in the vicinity of the hide this afternoon.

Today I decided that I needed to go on a steep walk, so I headed to Lysterfield. This was the first cache that I find today, and I certainly saw many kangaroos! There was an abandoned car with branches on top, as if trying to camouflage it near the cache, which I found interesting. I soon realised it was not the location of the cache and continued walking until I found the elusive container. Thanks for placing this cache BushwalkingBandit
No kangaroos here but you could see where they have been.

We took the 'correct' path to this cache and the, ahem, 'shortcut' back to the path that led past alien disco and back to the car...
This has been a pesky green dot on my map for some time, however we never seem to find ourselves in this area of the park. Today we made a plan to collect this cache whilst also signing some other logs. It’s a very pretty area of the park that I was really happy to explore.
We took the shortcut back to the car....flinging our limber bodies under a barbed wire fence and admiring someone’s lovely property on the way. I made sure to educate Master 13 on the dangers of trespassing whilst we were stalking across the paddock.
Thanks for bringing us here.

I’m not quite sure how we were supposed to approach this cache however if my topographic maps are correct we could’ve come here via tracks branching off North Boundary Track from the north, Woodland Walk from the east or South Boundary Break Track from the south. As we approached from the south west on Stonemasons Track, after just completing “Bees Knees” cache, we took a more, ahem, *imaginative route!*
Climbing up from Stonemasons Trk we were confronted by a seemingly impenetrable cyclone fence that disappeared into the distance both to the north and south but after a short walk beside “The Great Wall of Churchill” we spotted a breach in the fence through which we could easily enter that ended up saved us from an otherwise really long circuitous walk to the GZ. As we assumed that we had just entered private property farm land we quickly stole across the paddock like thieves in the night all the while keeping below the ridgeline to avoid being spotted by anything or anyone. The cache was a tantalizing couple of hundred metres away so after crawling under another wire fence we were soon at the GZ with cache in hand.
I grabbed the “Purr-Fect GeoCat” TB that had been left here recently.

This was a bit of a trek for me and mainly uphill so it took a while with numerous stops but I made it in the end, it's a lovely park with lots of roos around but at Kangaroo Knoll there wasn't one ......but at least there was a cache.

Out for a caching day with our caching friends, Mrs Biggles and Wetjala and this was the second cache of 9 for the day. After finding our last gadget series cache, The Bee's Knees, we went cross country from there to here, but not sure if that was the correct way to go but it was the shortest route. The hills were steep and the wind was strong on the ridges but it was well worth the views when we got there. Once at GZ we made a quick easy find. TFTC. TNLN but sighted a geocoin.

Found while on a on a geowalk through the park today. The knoll is well named. TFTC.
Having completed a night cache in the same vicinity (and realising we didn’t have a UV torch to tackle the next one) Lost_and _found_79 and I decided to head a couple of unfound cache across the park. We moved the car around first and struck off into the dark down a path to an area of the park that I hadn’t been to before. We saw lots of kangaroos but probably not as many as you would see in better light at dawn or dusk. We didn’t get to enjoy the views but could see the suburban lights stretching out for quite a way. At GZ we searched a few targets to no avail but kept looking and in the end spotted an area that I guess would be easier in daylight and a short time later the cache was in hand. We signed the log book and I visited some trackables as L&F79 dropped one in the cache. Thanks for the cache BushwalkingBandit. A great location in a park that I’m getting to know in detail.
After completing a night cache at Lysterfield, AnnoyingTarbit and I decided to do some more caching and headed towards this one. I'm sure it has great views in the day, though it was good to see the lights of the surrounding areas. Didn't take too long to find the cache, though as my torch was on its last legs it was a little hard to see. Lots of Kangaroo's around in the area tonight. Dropped a TB I've had for too long - safe travels. TFTC!

I was in the area for a solved puzzle cache so headed up the hill to grab this one as well. No Roos up here this morning although there were plenty around the tracks on my way here. I made the find pretty quickly but then realised I'd made a rookie mistake and forgotten to bring a pen. Thankfully there were plenty of makeshift writing implements nearby.
Thanks BushwalkingBandit for the cache.

Geo-teen brought the old man out, mountain-bikes in tow, to grab some caches and prove who's the better rider. Son, it's you!
We worked our way around from the Alien disco along the fence line, stopping for a while to let the echidna clamber off the firebreak and again to let the feeding kangaroos and their joeys bound away. Once back on the proper track we whizzed up, down and up again to the GZ where we found a well-stocked cache, and some great views of the city.
TFTC bandit, we had a great afternoon whizzing around grabbing this cache.

Making the most of some unusual Winter sunshine and decided to catch up with a close caching mate to knock off a few outstanding caches in the area. Found while making our way around the park while exploring the area and enjoying a few laughs as walked around this great bit of bush, plenty of hills to walk and heaps of kangaroos to be seen. The cache was soon found after a short search, thanks Bushwalking Bandit for the cache.

I had to visit my BBB cache for some maintenance, and so made an afternoon of it with a circuit walk around the park, finishing up at my cache. I thnk I got to this one the wrong way. There was a section of the cyclone wire fence that was open, so I headed straight for the cache. After a quick find, I headed back, only to discover I'd come through some private land to get there, so had to detour around a bit to avoid doing the same going back.
There were plenty of kangaroos/wallabies around today throughout the park. I must have visited this park at least 20 - 30 times in the last 10 years, and I never fail to spot a few roos. Same goes for Lysterfield Lake park. So I definitely concur with the cache name. My thanks to BushwalkingBandit for the cache.

Having looked at this on the map before and finding the whole area interesting today I was lucky enough to head out with OHC to collect a few smileys in Churchill Park and with this not too far away we came over ad signed it off. Very interesting spot. Thanks BwB

Trapsing through the lovely hilly Kangaroo Knoll, an old rusty dumped car on the horizon...Two Kanagaroos having a lovely time, we came across this cache. Exact coordinates took me right to the heart of the cache. TFTC!
Well the Kangaroo activity was certainly busy , don't mind us walking thru , don't let us disturb you 2 going at it like rabbits after a bit of a chuckle at the activities (in house joke least this time it wasn't humans we busted like last time in the area) We continued on to Gz with a fairly straight forward find
Thanks for the Adventure
Thanks for the Adventure
Practising our cross country navigation skills today to tick off this cache in an out of the way area of Lysterfield Park. Many, many kangaroos viewed on the trail into the cache. Thanks for bringing us to this area.
I enjoy these caches that actually give you some exercise. Thanks BushwalkingBandit.
Perfect day for caching today so headed out for a bike ride from home into Lysterfield park to get this cache on top of the hill.
On the way there I randomly ran into The Rustys who were completing the nearby gadget caches which I am still to do. We had a quick chat and headed our separate ways.
I then made the way to GZ surrounded by kangaroos and made a nice quick find.
Thanks BushWalkingBandit for the cache, the adventure, the hunt and the fun. Great view from GZ.
It's true; this really is an "out of the way" part of Churchill National Park. Probably best approached from the Lysterfield Lake side, as suggested. But we were in Churchill National Park and I spied a relatively new and unfamiliar cache on the map and really felt the need to go there. The pleasant, if somewhat haphazard and mostly off-trail hike from that direction was hopelessly inefficient and indirect, but the search for the cache itself took virtually no time at all. Twas a nice location. Thanks BushwalkingBandit!
This was one of the many geocaches that I did today with the company of BendSinister and Shogun-. After getting a phone call from Shogun- asking if I wanted to do some good caches around Endevour Hills my answer was yes (Did not really have anything else planned haha). Todays trip consisted of many geocaches and many laughs we all had a great time exploring the area and see many of the local flora and fauna. We all really appreciate all the effort that everyone puts in to make this game what it is. I’d like to thank you for the cache and the adventure that I had today.

We found this cache today at 3:30pm as number 5 of 6 on our Final Run to 9,000 Caches. We found a spot from our previous cache find to make our way up the hill. We have been to a lot of spots in and around Lysterfield Park and Churchill Park over the years but never up this particular hill. Great views to the south from here. We parked the car at 80m elevation and here it is 170m. Thanks from D & H B-A. That's 8,999.

Find #7964**
Out and about on this beautiful spring Sunday. My aim was to find more caches in my 10k zone. This was one area I had not visited in this park, so was happy to take the walk out. A fantastic spot. Cache is in a1 condition.
**Thanks to BushwalkingBandit for the cache. TNLN**

#231: Found with Dynamo
FTF @ 6.00pm.
When I arrived at school this evening, Dynamo was feeling down. And so was I after my own very trying day.
I knew there was a FTF on offer not far from the school but it had been listed for over an hour, at a time when most people are driving home from work. So it was probably being hunted already. Anyway, I was feeling rather ambivalent about it after the day I'd had. I mentioned the cache to Dynamo and I saw it perk him up a little, which was good to see.
We both really needed some cheering up - and is there a better tonic than a FTF hunt??
So it was agreed. And off we went.
I haven't ventured to this part of Churchill National Park before. I had no idea where to park for this one. I rolled the dice on what I thought was the most promising way. Just needed an entry point...
We followed a large tribe of kangaroos up the hill. Dynamo doesn't do hills well, and I found myself being very sympathetic. Probably because my legs were still recovering from Day1976's Whereigo yesterday, which had me racing up the 1000 Steps, TWICE in quick succession.
So yeah, of course there had to be a hill tonight!!
I put Dynamo on my back and continued hiking up the hill.
We reached the top where more kangaroos were basking in the last rays of sunshine. The warm weather today whispered promises of the coming summer, and glorious reds and oranges were beginning to appear across a cloudless sky. The panoramic views were wonderful. Such precious peace... This is exactly what Dynamo and I needed.
Oh, the cache?
Yes, that's right!
We raced across the crest watching the GPS reel in the distance to GZ. The coordinates were spot on. The find was made at 6pm and a blank notebook was retrieved. Celebratory high fives were exchanged. I wrote our names in at the top of the book while Dynamo examined the swag. Oh no, we forgot our swaps AGAIN! TNLN, lol.
After replacing the cache, we returned to the summit for more photos. The kangaroos didn't seem to mind as we watched the sun set and all the street lights of the city begin to shine like stars. It's precious moments such as these which make me so passionate about geocaching. It really is the best game in the world.
Thank you very much, BushwalkingBandit, for producing a cache in a gorgeous forgotten pocket of the world. You made our day!
