Well I went to the first spot I thought it may be took two steps to the right and got it. TFTC
Staying with my sister in New Plymouth while visiting from Sydney, we went for a bit of a drive today. I started looking too high but my muggle sister ended up making the find. Then it was off for a burger for lunch. Thanks for the hide.
Found it, might need to find an alternative container or spot close by so other critters cant reach it
Parked close by and observed nearby bikers at picnic table. Circled and faffed and made the find, one called out 'are you geocaching? Rumbled but no worries. Cache is still missing a lid and looks dog chewed.It's head home today after a couple of nights at Urenui beach. A nice long weekend in Taranaki was just what I wanted, too many times previously it's just been a time-constrained day visit and have never really scratched beyond the surface of the area, or the caching. I was keen to head home via SH45 surf highway and a couple of other caches. Also keen to up my cache finds by the CO Phronimos, and this was a Pheeding Phrenzy as I got a few of his, as a CO I'm aiming to get finds by him up to triple figures, today will help with that aim. Phanks very much to all regional COs for their placements and maintenance/choices of awesome places to get people to visit.
It is so good to avenge a DNF from 2021. Turns out we were in a completely wrong area previously. We are back here on our way north after 4 months in the South Island. A beautiful day in Opunake. TFTC
Replaced the log, which was unreadable. There is no need to climb anywhere near the cliff.
Thanks 2 Bulbars for the cache. Its #1894 for us. We found your cache on Tuesday 19 March 2024. Quick park n grab today. What a lovely spot!
Great cache and nice and peaceful down by the sea. A few muggles around so some stealth required. Cache paper is getting wet so a bit hard to write on. TFTC
Easy find, log was wet and stuck to the side so couldn't get it out. put a couple of bits of paper in, but no plastic bag so may get wet again.
New Plymouth to Whanganui today and grabbed a few caches on the way. Parked nearby and a relatively quick find, TFTCTim and Viv - ddm
Forgot to add the cache was not in a good state, a sweet was found inside and the logsheet sodden and sticky. We chose not to remove the logsheet, but did take out the sweet This does need attention
Was a challenge to find, (muggles around didn't help!) but perseverance paid off. The log was wet through so we didn't sign. Thanks
This spot is where I remember a friend trying to show me this hunt years ago. Good to finally find it
Traveling from whanganui to New Plymouth, stopped in Opunake for a look and found most caches. TFTC
No luck with this one. We thought we knew where it could be, but there was only an empty hole ️
Lovely bay, thanks for bringing us here!

We’ve looked for this cache several times with no luck! Finally found it in the pouring rain too Log was very wet so left it.
In town for the Boxing. So before I head home I wanted to stop off and grab the local caches. This was a quick park and grab had to be a little stealthy as the was some loud music coming from a car. Cache found and signed. Tftc
Great spot. Parked in nearby car park to walk over to this and other caches in the area. Cache is in good condition.
What a fun day. I am visiting Wanganui for the weekend (from Wellington) and took the opportunity to be the first finder of a cache here in Opunake today by driving up for the afternoon. It was such a stunning late autumn (or is it now early winter) long weekend Saturday, with the sun singing and the blue sky chirping, that I decided to hang around and collect all the other caches in town. So I did, and a successful day it was as all caches were found. This was one of them.
No problems finding this one, once the somewhat nosey people in the other car in the area moved on. Thanks for brining me here.

A Nice Park And Grab For This One,Grandad Parked His Truck Between The Cache And Some Muggles To Get The Cache.
Could only look very briefly due to muggle activity but no cache appeared for us today.
Beautiful spot! Container was a little wet so I dried as much as I could and did what I can to hopefully stop it getting wet in this rain that's about to hit! Tftc
#9567. I am travelling north to Taranaki to pick up some of the TMGT geotour caches in this region. I am having a 4 day weekend so there is plenty of time to drive here and take in the scenery and find some geocaches. Spent the first night in Hawera and after doing some local caches in Hawera I am driving around the west side of the mountain today.
Headed down the road to the coast and parked close to GZ. The cache was hidden at the first place I checked except I did not see it immediately as I did not look closely enough. So roamed around checking quite a few different spots. Eventually gave the first place another look and this time used my eyes and yes the cache was hidden there! Signed the logbook and replaced the cache where found. Thanks 2 Bulbars for hiding it here.

A quick stop, as we noticed big clouds and rain to the North and South. Took a few minutes, but finally found it. Both the container and logbook were fine. You can replace dwarf by 6-year old and the hint was perfect. Thanks!
Nice black sand beach with a bit of east coast ferocity. Beauty day with just a bit of wind to blow the cobwebs away. Cache a bit damp so I dried it out. Could next cacher add a bit more log please. Tftc
On a road trip down the west coast of the north island. Exploring and finding some geocaches along the way. TFTC.
Found - Mrs McMike2012 & I are on a bit of a Christmas Roadtrip from Auckland to Ingill & back ... we'll be doing a few geocaches on our travels ... this being the 177th cache of hopefully many ... we had been spent Christmas in Invercargill & were now heading back to Auckland, taking the scenic route ... we were now heading North, had been up the West Coast of the South Island ... were now going 'round the mountain' before heading back to Auckland ... had stayed the night in Wanganui ... be rude not to grab some caches on the way ... quick & easy find on this walkway at Opanake ... another 'smiley face' to the tally ... TFTC ... TN:LN:SL ... #1,911 for us.
#12,528. A park, walk and grab in Middleton Bay, Opunake. Fortunately, GZ was pretty quiet at the time of our visit. Relatively quick find. The cache was in good condition, all nice and dry inside. Took nothing, left nothing, signed log.Thanks for the placement, and for bringing us to this site, and .T h a n k s. .f o r. .t h e. .c a c h e..M a u r u u r u. .k o e. .n u i. .a t u. .h o k i. .t e. .k e t e r o k i.
We are on our summer holiday, we usually take a few weeks and travel around the South Island, but this year we are heading around the North Island. Heading up the West coast and back down the East coast. Finding only a select few caches along the way, we are mostly targeting some challenges we have qualified for, some large size caches, some that fill gaps in our date placed grid, a few D/T combinations, some with lots of favourite points, letterboxes and anything else that grabs our fancy.
I had a fall earlier yesterday so I was now pretty much out of action with a very sore and swelling ankle so gk had to go to find most of the caches.
I had hobbled down onto the beach to do a bit of surfcasting after dinner (we were staying about 10 meters from where we were fishing. We caught some lovely fresh seaweed but that is all. It was a stunning evening with a stunning sunset. There were heaps of people trying to catch a fish but everyone that we saw had the same result as we did.
After everyone had packed up and moved on we went to find this cache, there was enough light from the buildings nearby so we hardly needed to use our torches.
It was a nice quick find, I signed the log and returned it as I found it.
Thanks for placing this cache and thank you for the smiley.

Pleasant night in Opunake. Road trip around NI with my Mum.
Thanks for the quick cache before we left town.

We dont get out here much now so if some one would please see what maintence it needs and get it sorted that would be better than archiving it thanks
Me And Grandad Came Down To The Beach And Found This One Quick ,Big Waves Rolling In And Heavy Rain Today
Found it while in Taranaki for Waitangi long weekend. This spot reminds me Ireland! Even smell is the same. Met friendly local Cacher at GZ who pointed me to this hide. TFTC
Travelling home from New Plymouth after staying up there for a week in lovely weather and swimming most days at one or other of the many beaches around the wider area. ..Lovely.
after visiting the nearby challenge cache i drove along to this sight. I was rather taken with the lovely garden that is in this area with the flowers nesting boxes, seats and even a free library cupboard!
I went down to the beach where several people were busy with there boasts etc and then walked over to the cache which was quickly found, signed and replaced. This seems a rather good place for an earth cache as the rock formation above the cache was interesting.
Thanks for this cache as i did not know this little beach was here. photo was taken before i descended down to the beach.

Enjoyed an sunny afternoon in Opunake with a lovely swim in the waves. Then did the walkway over to this bay. No trouble finding the cache and log all dry. Thanks
Muggled yesterday, but clear today. Aaaand that makes a clean sweep of allthe caches in Opunake. TFTC.
Hunted around here for a while. TS thought he saw a rat but no it was camouflague. We finally got this one snagged to find the container disintergrated. Log all good so arranged a replacement container to keep this one chugging along. Bummer - noticed later left my tweezers here in TSs care. By then its too far to return.
Day 6- Thursday 19 December. Hawera to Okato and back the inland route. Then back to pick up Zara and head to New Plymouth.
The Seagnoid, Zara, Toby and I are spending Christmas exploring Taranaki via geocaching. Its been an amazing 3 week adventure. Rattls BBQ was a great event, meeting many other cachers. But also managed to fit in a few more events, especially New Years Day celebrating the start of 2020. Lots of caches - over 500. Lots of cache maintenance. Lots and lots of kilometers. And lots of amazing places visited along our journey. Mt Taranaki remained elusive for much of our travels and the caches on it at the top. Loved Pukekura Park Night Lights Show and the the Wooden Mechanical toy exhibition at NP Info centre.

When I first saw the cache I thought it was a dead rat (not it's not in a plastic rat body either), so ruled that location out and when to check the cliff face. After wandering through the scrub there thinking this does not look likely I checked the cache page - Ah - D1! so, not at the cliff face. Back to the rat body. How the heck did I think that was a dead rat?!? Container was broken, we replaced it.
Day six of Taybeedragon's and my big 3 week circumnavicaching trip around Mt Taranaki, starting from Palmerston North. Today is Manaia to the cape lighthouse along the coast and back to Hawera via the inland route - it's a slow trip!!
Highlights:
* 3 weeks, 536 caches
* Mt Taranaki had been removed for washing, which was a bit annoying. Even after it had been returned we were only allowed to see it for it was less than half an hour a day.
* High percentage of caches with crappy coordinates
* Amazing Pukekura Park
* AMAZING Pukekura Park light show!
* Pukeiti Gardens
* 3 notebooks full of cache notes for later logging
* Lots of cache maintenance!

Planning for the [NZ Mega 2020](http://nzmega.com) event is well underway. It will be held in Auckland over Labour Weekend, 23 to 26 October 2020. It's going to be a massive celebration of geocaching:
* 20 years of geocaching worldwide.
* 20 years since New Zealand had the very first geocache hidden outside of USA.
* And it's 2020 - all the 20s!
Talk to your geo-friends and start planning to be part of [this event](https://coord.info/GC87777) - you won't want to miss it!

Quick find in the rain. The cache tube is bent and quite muddy inside and out. TFTC!
A wee bit of back and forth required until Doh, there it is.
Up here for an awesome weekend jaunt with Team Gators, TheWanglers and Karma Reprint to do a loop of the mountain in 48 hours grabbing as many caches as we could while having a good laugh. Logs signed as some derivative of (KT)^2
Cheers 2 Bulbars for the cache

Day two Hawera to New Plymouth via Opunake
Great to be out and about, took a bit of looking, should have trusted the GPS. Cheers
A long weekend cache raid to Taranaki. The weather didn't stop us doing anything, and we had fun times. Logs were signed with a combination of KT and 2 depending one which of did the signing. Thanks Kiwi Moose, Team_Gaters and TheWanglers for a choice time.
Thanks to all CO's for placing and maintaining their caches. Cheers

A planned geocaching trip to the USA was shelved (but is all go for this time next year!) so we came up with a weekends Plan B. Taranaki with TheWanglers, KarmaReprint and KiwiMoose - logs signed (TK)^2 or a variation of. A really fun trip with the forecast rain and thunder seemingly always in the distance but never hindering us. A really fun weekend.
Day 2 dawned with a bit of drizzle but that soon cleared (whilst eating breakfast) and we had a lovely trip missing all the bad weather again. Harwea to New Plymouth the long way. Heaps of history; cool scenery and lots of laughs. Cheers all!
Second look nabbed the cache. Cheers.

A plan was hatched for a few of us to head to America for a Mad Mission. With life getting a bit crazy a downsized trip was organised as I had sorted childcare for the cachelets. The big America trip is now set for next year. We asked a member of our crew if we could go to Nelson, Dunedin, Auckland, Wellington, Hastings the answer all came back "I don't have many to find there". We left it to that member to suggest an area. He came up with New Plymouth and a loop around the mountain. That's a go from the rest of us. We sorted puzzles, gpxs, motels and a car and hit the ground running. The forecast was doom, gloom, rain, hail and lightning. Oh well, sounds exciting. We had very little of any of the weather that affected our caching and found we had all overpacked (thank God!).
Day 2: Today was a long day in the car 14 hours or so to our home for the night and then an hour or two after dinner before having a beer at the campground. We started in Hawera and went the long way around the coast with many detours. The history was amazing and the the lack of irrigation was very noticable to us Cantabrians. We once again missed the horrible weather!
Took a bit to locate.
Thanks for the cache 2 Bulbars.
