In the fruitless hunt for a pen at the previous cache we buried the swaps bag, so I had to unpack the boot AGAIN! Still no pen Sad but plenty of swaps, which made thd geokids happy. Geodaughter retrieved this one - quite an accomplishment given her knee. TFTC

TFTC! 10 March 2024 7:05:59pm 7595 thanks to deshut for the cache! Decided to target this series in our way to Queenscliff due to the high favourite points. Enjoyed looking and finding these caches. Some parts are quite aged across the series.

Exploring around Swan Bay today and picking up some caches along the way. Flies and bugs were a killer walking around without any bug spray. The sun also decided to come out and make things abit toasty. Took the bike along this trail it make it abit more easier to get around.Found this cache to be all in good condition. Thanks for the hide for me and others to find!

Spontaneous Spring Victorian RoadtripDay Five: Morang to Ballarat via QueenscliffWeather: Perfect for geocaching. One of four Do you believe caches logged on my way out of Queenscliff. The daylight was fading, and I didnt have time for the whole series, so I picked the ones with high FP to continue the roll that Im on - lots of FPs today. I traveled east to west, and didnt encounter any other vehicles today. Thanks for the cache and the series deshut. FP for the series; Ill return for the remainder if I get the chance. I was heading to the dinner in Queenscliff, but came early to do some shopping and caching. This series appealed to me, so I started at number 01 and ended at 14. 04 is currently unavailable. Found nice and quickly.

Many thanks to deshut for the cache.

When I started this series I wasn’t sure if I believed or not. Having completed the series, I can say that I am now definitely a believer. Thanks for this series. I can appreciate the time and effort that was put into this series when it was created. Some of the caches are a little run down, but all were there and in reasonable condition. TFTC.

Spending the weekend at Dad’s place in Leopold and tackling another Geelong 70.3 Ironman tomorrow. I was a bit restless sitting at home so I thought I’d go out for a couple of hours and see if I can edge a bit closer to the next milestone I’m hoping to have by Easter at the Rutherglen Mega.
When I saw these two little trails on my map I thought you beaut! And they were just what the doctor ordered, nice easy finds on quiet roads. No DNFs on the trails either which is always a great thing!
Thanks for all the caches out here!

Another day around Geelong and today it was this series. A well put together series with lots of different containers. 14 caches all up and all different. All were found without issue, although some were found quickly while a few others took a few minutes.

Thanks deshut...nice and quiet along the road today,

This one was a DNF for us.
We had started with number 14 and worked our way to number one.
Having seen how creative these hides are, I am guessing we just missed it today.
We loved exploring this Trail and the quiet road.
Thanks deshut for this adventure

B had some cache maintenance to do in Portarlington and a Lego purchase to pick up
In Ocean Grove, so set off with C in that general direction with a 3rd objective of starting to clear through more of the many many unfound caches we have on the peninsula. After starting out in Port we headed across towards D2B and Do You Believe in, chasing some bulk PnG smilies as our find numbers in February are somewhat lower than most other months, and such things come in handy for challenge caches.

We started mid trail on D2B and soon realised quick PnG’s were not going to be the case. Many of this series need some love, we found anything from empty containers with no logs, to damaged containers, to logbooks thats were just paper mush. Fortunately Do You Believe in was better as C’s 7yo patience was starting to wear thin.

Thanks for placing these caches for us to find.

A quick find in the long grasses today.
Took nothing, left nothing.
Thanks for placing this geocache here for us to find today, for without those who like to hide geocaches, there would be nothing around for those who like to find geocaches.

Well, what a day. As I sit and type this, I look down upon several mosquito bites, a long, bloodied scratch on my leg and the aftershock of an actual electric shock. Have I been on a Commando course in the jungle? No, I’ve been caching along the Bellarine Rail Trail (amongst other places). Returning to the area after being locked out of the country for two years, it was great to finally reunite with Ketchthor to continue our occasional caching adventures in this part of the world. This is a generic log for all the caches that we found today. Setting off around 9 am, it soon became apparent that our expectation of a reasonably straightforward stroll through the Bellarine countryside was well off the mark. It became hot quite quickly; mosquitos were out in force, and there were a few hidden ‘natural’ surprises at a few cache sites. The worst was a lizard guarding a cache and refusing to move. We spent about four hours walking along the trail and then back along Knights Road to look for the ‘Do you Believe in…’ series. At one point, I managed to come into contact with an electric fence. It didn’t look like an electric fence, obviously – although I now realise that I don’t know what an electric fence looks like—what fun. Some of the GZs were waterlogged and prohibited access but we managed to find most of what we looked for. Despite the bites and scratches, it was a fun morning and as always, I'm really grateful to the cache owners for taking the time to design, place and maintain the caches. Thanks to all!!

05-Nov-22
aketch1 (from the UK) and I decided this weekend was the right time to continue tackling the G2Q series and a smattering of other Bellarine peninsula caches which we started in 2016.

Despite relatively cool temperatures for this time of year, the caching journey was quite the grind with the recent wet weather posing consistently thick vegetation, a mosquito paradise and the constant threat of dangerous creatures. Added to that was aketch1's electric fence zap, a stubborn lizard causing chaos at a GZ and a pack of chicken defending 'livestock guardian dogs' not too happy about the presence of geocachers.

We really enjoyed this series. It was great to find an array of such large and unique caches, a rarity. Thanks for placing and maintaining.

Attempting the series tonight under cover of darkness and hiking it on foot for the true experience I am seeking tonight. Camp stove was fired up pre-hunt and my hopes are high for the night... Coming out here after some pretty big and special days personally just really tops off what's been an amazing couple weeks. And I'm on leave so no alarm clock! Just the sunrise to let me know when my night is over and the new day is beginning.

#1 done, quick and easy, great start... TFTC Made a few swaps...

On a road trip to Bellbrae (Torquay) and the Surf Coast and today we headed over to Barwon Heads and surrounds to explore the area and pick up some caches as we went. We saw these caches with a large number of favourites and thought we would check them out. Starting at the end and working back this was the fourteenth and last one for the day. Another quick find. TFTC TNLN and visited 3 TB's.

After having lots of traffic down Andersons Road, this road was perfect! I didn't see a single car or muggle the whole time I was here. When I found this cache, I wasn't quite sure what I was being asked. Do I believe in ... caches with lots of swag? Caches that are decent sized? Caches that blend in? If there's meant to be any fairies in this one then they aren't here any more. Although, it does seem like a lovely spot where fairies would live. I picked up a TB here. TFTC

Yes we believe in....
A story we love to tell which involves our daughter and 3 year old (at the time) grand daughter. They live in Kensington, very close to the Melbourne zoo, and buy an annual family membership so they can visit regularly. Due to the covid pandemic in 2020 they had had to suspend visits for well over 7 months- a VERY long time in the life of a 3 year old. During the break Sophie had become very interested in unicorns. Books, clothes, toys and cartoons all regularly involved unicorns. You could say she was fixated.

Roll on 2021 and the family decides to visit the zoo for the first time in ages. Sophie wanted to visit the unicorns. Her mum explained....they are pretend, fairytale creatures. NOOOOO!!!! THEY'RE REAL. I WANT TO SEE THE UNICORNS.

Our daughter was trying to keep a straight face. The visitors around her were trying to keep a straight face. Sophie was getting more and more upset. Unfortunately she now knows they are not real, and some of the magic has gone from all of our lives!!

What a fantastic series. We did it back to front, but we have enjoyed the variety, craftiness and imagination in the hides. We have awarded a few favourites thru the series, and are giving one here as well for the series as much as for the individual hides.

TFTC we've really enjoyed the theme

Found by Rebel Acts

My good friends Ski Pair were heading down to Geelong for a few days and invited Me to join them, who could resist being chauffeured around and the company and laughs are always good. We had a great time touring the area discovering new locations while finding caches, We even managed dinner with Suscoe and Busfire.

This is one of the caches we found for the week.

Logs signed as RASP (Rebel Acts Ski Pair)

Thanks deshut for the cache.

Out picking up some hides while the daughters and wife have a day spa pampering!
Last one of the series had me looking all over the place. Perhaps reading the hint would have been a good idea here! Nice big container.
An interesting series as I said before, would have taken a great deal of work, but as is always the case with our caches that are outside in the elements, they do it tough.

FP for all that!

The mood to find a few geocaches came today so I headed out with JosieY on our bikes. The highlight was surprising a hawk that was feeding on a freshly killed rabbit, and the lowlights were Josie bailing out after a minor bike accident and the old huntsman in the geocache gambit. I was slow to get my eye in here as I was expecting a smaller container.

Had removed this one for a major overhaul. New container, new log and new trades ( in a separate container).
The fairy now has 3 friends visiting her, please don't remove them. Don't know whether this constitutes a bubble under Covid rules.
Will enable this cache and change the description.

More importantly, the council had machines repairing the road today. So it should be all right to go from one end to the other now.

02-Nov-20
Now ready to be found after a big fixit job.

26-Oct-20
In the process of checking all of this series. Been a lot of rain on the Bellarine Peninsula and this wooden box was very damp, and we didn't have a large enough container with us to use as a substitute.. So we've brought this one home to mend it. It should reappear within a week (6th Nov).
What we found also was that this road is very eroded from about Cache 04 in this series down to Cache 12. It's a quiet road and may not receive attention for quite a while.

23-Oct-20
Have been reading the logs on this series and it seems to need a complete check on all the caches. Will post the same note on the last one in the series.
With the Covid virus seeming to be less threatening to the state we are getting back into caching and intend to check all the caches in this series and in the nearby Treasure series in the next month (November 2020).

*Cache find # 11006.*

I was starting to head for home but before I did, I decided to have a look at this series as I few of the caches have a number of favourite points.
All were found without to much trouble, some a little longer than others.
It would have been good to see these caches when they were new as some are looking a bit tied now.

**Thanks to deshut for placing this cache.**

Bang the ground! Bang the ground! Yells native muggle friend from the car to her pommie caching friend who doesn't know much about snakes. Thanks for your efforts in placing these for us to look for.

1 visiting with the trackers. Thankyou deshut for a well thought out, designed and placed series. I enjoyed the bike ride up a quiet road. Starting uphill into the headwind was probably no the best move.
All caches 1 to 14 located and signed. Some a little damp but no real drama.
Thanks again and Cheers.

Geomum and Geoson enjoyed finding this mini power trail today. Even though this is number one we found it last by going against the grain. Was like a countdown to our final find for this series. Thanks for the fun hides and excuse to get out into nature for a bit.

Of course. Cache time.

Brought my two grandsons with me to help me do maintenance on all of the caches in this series. The container had been without guardians, but, now, with a new container, there's a fairy in residence, with a few friends. But, watch out for the plant under which it is hiding... the flower stalks are VERY prickly.

#3853 A bewt day to roll down the windows and travel down a back road collecting some great cache creations. We are staying a Anglesea for the week and decided to slip out to Queenscliff for the day, before returning via this series.

After working this series in reverse this was our last find. The first 12 caches presented little problem but the last 2 took some effort to uncover. This one particularly difficult as it was in a hidey spot different to all the others and far more devious. TFTC and fun today deshut, love your work.

15-Dec-19
Find #4603. Found @ 13:55 with LouiseAnn.

It has been an age since LouiseAnn and I have hit the trails together, but LouiseAnn loves a goal. I mentioned to her last weekend that I had a plan for a challenge, but couldn't share the details. I also mentioned that I needed a couple of finds in order for me to qualify for the challenge - so the plan was made to collect the two I needed, and some more that LouiseAnn would need (if the challenge gets approved).

This series of 14 caches contains 2 that LouiseAnn would need to have a smiley for to help qualify for my challenge. This is not one of them. We had no problems with Mozzies here, but the flies were everywhere.

The figurines have parted ways with the container, and the container seems to be placed differently to all those subsequently found.

Took nothing, left nothing, signed log and visited some trackables.
Thanks for the cache deshut

I was on my way to a nearby Event in Queenscliff.

With a little time I thought this would be a perfect series to complete.

I managed to find all but 1.

The farmer was fixing his fence right on GZ Sad

I just waved and kept driving past.

The rest were quick finds today.

Including this one!

TFTC Smile

14-Dec-19
On the way back to Queenscliff after a CITO event we stopped by to enjoy this series. Sadly our first stop was short-lived with a DNF after I stupidly uncovered a nest of bull ants. I thought it best I keep running... and on to the next we quickly ventured.

06-Dec-19
After having had enough of people and finding parking spots and needing to be mindful of other drivers we have headed for the dirt.
We have completed three trails today with only one DNF, I suppose you need to leave yourself something to do on another trip. The cache hides have been unusual and mostly different. There has been considerable care put into the construction of the caches. These are the little things that have you wondering what the next cache will be. Because we assumed, at times, what the hide would be we spent far longer at some than what we needed to do. Most of the co-ords were good, a few seemed a bit off but that could be the weather, or it just may have been our GPS not playing nice. We think we may be due for a new GPS; it has had quite a workout over the years. Some are now in need of a little TLC as the contents have been wet at some point with some of them.
It was good not to a trail where all the containers were the same and the cache hides also the same. SL TFTC
