*Surf Coast Mega Anglesea 2016*
We saw beaches, walked up hills, sat in local parks, walked through bushland, gardens and general beautiful countryside.
We have thoroughly enoyed our short caching trip over here on the Surf Coast, we based ourselves in Anglesea in a nice house sharing with four other teams. Being local helped us enjoy the weekend even more.
We climbed fences, crossed rivers, climbed tree's and hopped around like gooses, we collected many smilies while on this trip and we collected many new friends.
Geocaching has given us many pleasures and this Event was one of them. Thanks to each and every team for placing caches for us to find and events to attend during our short visit.

Due to unforeseen circumstances Mr Smokey Bear will no longer be a part of Team Smokey Bear and will continue his adventures as "SmokeyBearOG".
So I'm relogging all previous finds under my new account.
Unfortunately this log will not show the original logging date.
Thanks to GeocachingVictoria for this adventure, looking forward to many more.

I was there picking up rubbish and socialising with everyone else.
My sincere apologies for the late log. I have geocaching finds dating back to 2011 in my GSAK database that I am yet to log; amounting to several thousand un-logged finds across the last 9 years.
So, what to do when you find yourself in this administrative caching 'hole' nightmare? Well you seek out a 'personal assistant' (thanks GoodLook), to assist to remedy the situation of course! I thank the CO for accepting my tardy log and for your understanding.

Another event down and not many more to do to end this Mega. We citoed all over the coast and caught up with some caching mates at this event. TFTC
This was our last "find" before heading home after a wonderful Mega weekend. We'd found more rubbish on our travels today so dropped it off on our way out of town. We saw surfer dude with lots of cool stuff he'd obvioulsy picked up from the beach, including a rifle stock! I was waiting to retrieve a couple of the items once he'd put them in the bin, but he obviously thought they were cool too and took them with him, oh well....
Thanks for a satisfying end to the day

In what will likely become an annual tradition next year at this rate, for the second Victorian Mega in a row, landau351 and I teamed up to attempt this year's batch of Lab caches. It worked out pretty well, as between us, we had in our possession all the toys, er, tools required to get the information we needed at each one.
Oh, and we picked up a passel of extra smileys in our travels. This was one.
Just barely... we managed to arrive in the last few minutes, but had been collecting elsewhere to keep in the spirit of CITO.

Mega time Who can resist a great Mega and all of the fun that is involved[?] Not me!
Thankfully, the lovely GoodLook and Clare007 also wanted to attend and so plans were made.
Last minute changes saw GoodLook and I head off in Harry much earlier than expected while Clare007 arrived later.
A massive 6 days of caching, competition[^], hugs [:X], jokes (don't mention windscreen wipers ), more caching , catching up with some fantastic people and missing seeing some other fantastic people while enjoying the wonderful countryside and views around the Anglesea area [^]
Day 5 of our Mega trip and the goal for GoodLook, Clare007 and myself was to find the A B 4 C series and we did find all of them
Today's total was 1 DNF with 2 events attended and 36 caches found [^]
Another CITO event where rubbish was cleaned up from the area and disposed of appropriately! [^]
I was very pleased to see that the TV and chair were cleaned up [^] as we had not had room for them yesterday and forgot about them today
Now if Victoria had a can and bottle deposit, there would almost be nothing lying around!

This was the fourth of five events attended over the weekend.
It's always good to clean up as we go along.

Not a lot of rubbish left laying around by this afternoon, just a few of those Surf Coast Event 2016 flags that had come aflutter from the odd geovehicle.
There were quite a few Geocachers of Victoria here for the MEGA weekend.

Another day at the Mega and another CITO . Rubbish collected though out the day was dumped and some social time with others as well.
We returned again today and this time both of us were able to attend and we managed to have two bags of rubbish, room was starting to get a little bit shy to put it in. Once again the CITO turned into more of a meet and greet and we caught up with many teams that we had missed on the previous day. Hopefully Anglesea is a lot cleaner because of our efforts, not that there was that much to pick up.
Day 6 of my week long visit to Victoria.
Today our team was to be GOTHS plus 1. GOTHS being the Geocachers Of The HillS - a group of SA cachers. Myself, mogni and Aussie M&M were the GOTHS members and local cacher Bushfire was the plus 1 [:o)]
After the hectic competition of yesterday it was time to just pick up a few caches at our leisure. Caches with lots of favourite points, ones that seemed a bit interesting, some more of the surf coast caches and a few others along the way were targeted
After a long lunch at the waterfront in Geelong it was time for a walk! And then it was time to head back towards Anglesea and the last of the events. Finding more caches as we went of course.
Once again we had been filling our bag all day as we cached around the area. [^] Once again the bag was placed in the appropriate bin and off we went towards the final event.
Thanks Geocaching Melbourne.

Geocaching with Bushfire, Aussie M & M and brisal5, under the name of GOTHs + 1. Today we had a plan.... find geocaches with lots of favourite points, pick up some we missed yesterday, enjoy the scenery... and of course have fun.

Day two of the Surf Coast event, and Jascat and I decided to head out to find all the lab caches, as well as a handful of others on the way.
We couldn't leave this lovely area without doing our bit to help out.
Great to see so many faces here, familiar and new.

Glad to say I was able to attend this cleanup and help around the area while down for the big weekend event.
Another great turn out with Good Look & Locus Cache.
We had a good laugh a the banana chair & telly we spotted out caching & had no room for.
There was also a group of cachers comparing ladders.....
Grabbed the nearby cache and found more uses for trackables.
Thanks for organising the CITO event Geocaching Melbourne.

I have been doing cito all day, came took photos a few more trackables on cars, not much left to cito and left
We must have been following some dedicated CITO collectors around this weekend as the offerings in our bag were rather meagre compared to some. However, trash is trash so in it went with the rest. Great idea to wrap up the mega & gain some kudos in the community for our strange antics.
Picking up rubbish all weekend as noworries and I cached our way around the Anglesea area.
Dropped in to deposit the spoils here. We hope the town is a lot cleaner than before our events.

Today was the big day and the whole reason for our road trip from Queensland to Anglesea to attend the Surf Coast Event While we were here in Victoria though, rather than do like many others and hit the power trails, we thought we would try to tackle some of the higher D/T caches as we need to raise our average D/T for a particular challenge cache we have signed the log for in New South Wales We are also trying to complete more of our D/T loops so specific D/T combinations were specifically being targeted.
We had a terrific time at the Mega and other associated events over the weekend, catching up with some interstate teams we have known now for many years, and making new friends as well
Thank you Geocaching Melbourne for having placed the cache and for maintaining it for everyone to enjoy

WOO HOO!!
During this 'extra long weekend', I attended my very first Australian Mega - held in a beautiful part of the world - Anglesea, Victoria.
I also:
- shared some awesome moments with friends [^]
- laughed lots and maybe even cried a lil
- got some lovely hugs and a few playful slaps
- became the resident paramedic on the trip (as I believe my favourite MICA paramedic recently retired ) - maybe it was because I seemed to be the one with the best stocked medication bag LOL
- completed a new power trail and found plenty of caches, including challenge caches I have either already qualified for, or very soon will [^]
I even achieved my 4000th cache find (in 10.5 months) and found 10 different cache types in one day with the help of my beautiful buddies (including my tree climbing 'ex' LMAO) [^] Six events in total this weekend WOO HOO!!!
Thanks to everyone who assisted me whilst caching this weekend - particularly Ms Locus Cache who joined me on yet another girls road trip, and the lovely Clare007 who stayed with us, cached and then accompanied us home.

Attended here during the Surf Coast event. I like the idea of a day spent picking up rubbish while caching, then dumping it at a central location. Seemed to work much better than everyone cleaning up one small area. Also had time for a chat and to discover some TBs on cars. Thanks for organising.
It was the perfect weather for a CITO.
Its a great giving something back to the community and looking after our nature and beautiful parklands. I hope other people will follow our good example so our region stays clean and tidy for everyone to enjoy.
We were happy to see so many people show up, thank you for being part of it.

After a long days caching in the area and further afield and while on the road we gathered any rubbish that we saw and then deposited in the bins. Thanks to the Geocaching Melbourne crew for placing this cache.

This was my first CITO event, so wasn't sure what to expect. Had been picking up trash throughout my travels over the Mega weekend, but had been dropping it off whenever I came across a bin... but I still had a little bit left to put in the bin at this location, so I hope this can be stated as attended?
Caught up with a few new friends and decided to check for two caches very close by.
Thanks for putting this event on!

A terrific idea and we certainly noticed that there was less rubbish around the traps this morning than yesterday.
Well done to the caching community for your efforts.

I managed to make a late Sunday afternoon Mega dash down to Anglesea after a busy weekend, arriving just after 3pm. Despite the lateness I still had time to visit a range of local caches, chat with new and old friends about all things caching and most importantly get out and about. After a few hours of frantic caching I turned the car for home again after my second Mega event weekend having completed a range of traditionals, multis, earthcaches, letterboxes and events of course including another well arranged and carried out Mega event. Thanks to all the people involved in all the fun and to all the local cachers for putting out and maintaining all the hides for us to enjoy finding. Another successful Mega weekend, can't wait for the next one.
Out and about on this Um.......... Fine day getting as many caches as I can before I head off. What a weekend it's been some multis mysterys night caches, heaps of trads, mega, cito, and a few events. Thanks surf coast for a great weekend out.
Grey Team and I came to the end of a road around the area and a car had dumped all kinds of rubbish.
Our rubbish bag soon became full.
Lucky I had a big Geoboot to put it in.
Well off to the CITO for delivery.

Attended with Paddle Chick and Buller Trout part of our kiwi group over for the Surf Coast Mega to drop of the rubbish we had collected
We always wanted to do something special for our milestones and attending the Mega weekend at Anglesea helped us get over the line of 100. This CITO event was a great way to show appreciation to the Surf Shire for their support of Geocaching community. Thanks for having us!
Having a wonderful day at the Mega with my good friend and driver for the day The Robbos3266 we decided to try and complete the Lab caches firsr, which we didi and then do any others along the way Loving all these varying caches
We came here without doing our homework first: Since we arrived in Anglesea late, we had not read the instructions, therefore did not bring any rubbish found in the field. So we opted to go for a walk in this area and grab what we could. Looks like other people had had the same idea as there was not a lot of stray material that we found. [:8] Still, a few items were collected and returned to the collection site. Like the idea of creating a CITO that helps wherever we cache!

Down for the weekend with 6hinemoa2 for the Surf Coast Mega. Not much rubbish to be collected today so it was a good time to have a chat and catch up with other cachers.
Dropped off some more bags of rubbish that was collected during our caching adventures, glad to help out.
With such a hectic day on Saturday we were unable to attend CITO I but today we started early. Our CITO was a full day event collecting rubbish wherever we found caches. And what a social drop-off event this was. Initially thinking it was just going to be a small attendance, the carpark ended up being full. And not to waste an opportunity, a great spot to grab some vehicle and human TB's. Thanks for organising Geocaching Melbourne.
I returned here to find a number of teams standing chatting and dropping of rubbish.
I placed my additions in the bins at GZ.
A quick chat to a few and then I was on my way again.
Nice spot here.

Thanks Geocaching Melbourne for putting on this event to help keep the surrounding areas neat and clean. Lots of rubbish gathered.
Can I claim this one? I assiduously collected gargage all Sunday in my travels, and got back far too late to sign log books or check in. If not, please feel free to delete my log.
Mary & David were there. Bodies flagging after 2 days of activity, food, fluids, caches, and now a second CITO. After being on duty yesterday, we had more opportunity to be prepared today. Sad to think that the weekend is nearly over. Our thanks to Geocaching Melbourne.
Gathered rubbish during the day although a lot must have already been collected as we only returned with half a bag...good job...dumped into the rubbish bins provided...took some family photos at the horse & carriage nearby before heading off to find more caches...
Attended with McAdies and Jelly_bean14 during the MEGA event.
I had such a great time on the weekend.
Thanks for hosting this event.

Not a lot of geocaching done today, but a lovely drive along the coast to Lorne, for Muggle Hubby to capture some of the magnificent scenery the coast road has to offer. But we did manage to fill a bag of rubbish, at some of the caches we visited, and topped it up in the park surrounds.
One thing that has had us intrigued, we have not seen one seagull anywhere for the three days we have been in the area. We've seen lots of white cockatoos, which seem as friendly as the seagulls used to be, especially if you are eating fish and chips in the park.
Is it possible that the ockatoos have frightened the seagulls away?
Thanks for the opportunity to assist with keeping this lovely area free from rubbish.

We found your cache The Surf Coast CITO - II on the Surf Coast Mega Event weekend. Lucky for us Ballarat had a PH Friday- a long weekend.
