We have replaced this cache a number of times and unfortunately it keeps going missing. Have decided its time to archive and maybe someone else can do something with the spot. Thanks to all visitors over the years.
Aww shame I didn't know in advance we'd be by this way, or I would have checked & brought a replacement to help maintain my former cache. This place is a lot busier than it used to be!! Am thinking perhaps GZ needs shifting to the upper area, more out of muggle view. And hopefully people will still see the cool ship , and the cute little addition of a Maui's dolphin
North Island Campervan trip Day 10
After the fantastic holiday I had a few months ago traveling around the South Island, making the most of one of those incredibly cheap campervan deals available at the time, I figured it was worth taking a week off work before the stresses of the usual holiday period to enjoy some of the delights to be found around the top of the North Island.
This would be a great chance for me to seek out some targeted caches such as the TMGT ones as well as some that would help me with my Jasmer grid, missing minutes (for a couple of challenge caches I'm working on) and any other caches that caught my eye.
Last night was spent near the centre of Whangarei, so that I could spend a few hours caching around there before starting my drive back to Auckland. That was always assuming the weather played ball of course lol!
So now I was hitting the road to head south again. This would give me the chance to get a few of the roadside caches I didn't get a few days ago whilst heading north, including this one.
Having parked up right next to the ship, there was no-one else around to disturb me whilst I made my search. I thought this was going to be a quick find with such a helpful Hint, but after 10 minutes I had to leave empty handed.

A nice quiet spot to have our lunch and find a cache. Pity about the weather and the state of the tide - drizzle and low tide.
Quick find while trying to avoid the muggles on the Fish Dish. Thanks for the cache.
Weekend is here again and time to stretch the legs, unfurl the wings and spark up the motor on the geo-car. The target for today was going to be Mangawhai Heads, a first visit to this place for both of us. We were doing a recce to check out future viability of meeting up with our son from Maungatapere as a half-way meet and wanted to check out the route, distance and beaches. And was pleased with what we found. Great area nd we pushed on to Langs Beach afterwards and headed back home via Waipu Cove and SH1.
First cache of the day and have sighted this pull in a few times passing without seeing that the appeal was. Pretty much as soon as I started admiring the ship an car and boat pulled in and parked in front. The owner told me she was the artist and I confirmed my admiration. All good and replaced as found here.

Called by to check on cache. It has gone. Have now replaced with camo mint container.
Called by today to check on the cache. So busy here, we were unable to check properly. Left a new cache. Camo Mint tin on the front of the boat. Hope it lasts a while.
I was near certain as I can be that this one is missing. It’s easy to climb on the wooden pile up and look in the space at the front of the model boat. There was a small piece of wood and a stone such as you would have over a cache but nothing underneath.
Stopped off on our way back from Atiu Creek camping for the weekend, in a long queue of cars behind a slow-coach. Not sure if it was supposed to be on the ship or in the garden below. Couldn't see in either place
Picked up this cache while it was quiet but as we went to re-hide 4 cars came in.

Out with Nicholson_family. On way to 101 dalmatians - picked this up on the way through. TFTC
Called by today on this adopted cache and replaced cache container, with a new themed container. All good to go.
Just transferred ownership of this cache to us. will take a drive next weekend, to replace it.
It must be missing again ;( & unfortunately have been unable to replace. If anyone would like to adopt this cache, please message me! ( through geocaching messengers, so it doesn't go lost/ unnoticed in the swamp of emails)
Disabling for now, until replacement or adoption possible.

Early morning stop on the way to meet a group at Atiu Regional Park. Unfortunately some people leaving for fishing meant we couldn't look. Stopped in on the way back and coast clear to make a very good look for it. Couldn't locate.
We searched for a very long time by very hot weather...looks like this cache is not there any more..Can not come back as I am from Switzerland.
With Gap (of Fap and Gap)... We had a couple of jobs to complete yesterday, and unexpectedly stayed the night in nearby Wellsford. Being unprepared was an experience, but we managed nevertheless... We were in the area this April, and were keen to have another shot at the caches along Highway 16, So here we go...
A council worker seemed interested in our activity, but lost interest when he realised we were taking photos... or were we? A clever hide here, but a bit too exposed in its hide. We used the available material to make it less obvious. TFTC.

Real goal today was a multi in the area which we missed last time we were here.
Rest of the day was mostly like yesterday with weather and cache finds but great to find caches that have had DNF's against them. SLTFTC

I was passing today, the place was deserted apart from the extremely strong wind. Everytime I try to find this one it has gone. I dropped off a temporary replacement, a log in a bag nicely tucked in, tweezers will help. I find I stop here frequently when going North due to nice clean toilets and a pleasant outlook.
I was out hunting for caches for my Hidden Creatures souvenirs. My mother uses this road to Auckland so I thought I'd have a look. A lovely piece of art at gz but unfortunately no cache. Thanks anyway
lovely to stop and take in the views. Always am in a hurry and have never pulled in until today. had a good lookie , BUT nothing caught my eye. so either I'm in need of a white cane or it's missing. will stop in when next down these ways . tftc
Ein netter Ort mit schönem An- und Ausblick.

Stopped off on our drive from Kai Iwi Lakes to Auckland to find this one as the car park was empty. The name told us just where to look and the cache was found neatly tucked away. Nice one! SL. TFTC.
A quick look stop here so grabbed this while here. I remember another cache that was once here..Tftc
Henderson - Mangawhai
Visiting family north of Auckland.
We stopped to find caches along the road, pulling up where we considered it safe.
Had to make a stop on the way to have a NZ famous Hokey Pokey ice cream.
A very interesting stop here, a new houseboat was beeing launched by the owner, plenty of family watching on. No champagne hit on the bow.
Loved the art on the building . Favourite point given
Thanks for placing this cache SaltyCacheNutZ

Found after a weekend in the Atiu Creek Regional Park. TFTC! I found a treasure map! Arrrrrrrrrr!
Heading North with Supernanny picking up caches on the way. Have used the facilities but have never noticed there was a cache there. Had a good look but nowhere to ge found. Will put on watchlist.
Had a good look, but couldn't find anything. Spotted a piece of timber that may have been on top of the cache?
Thank you very much for this cache SaltyCacheNutZ.
Very inspired position for this hide ! Really love it ....
Brightened up my drive home after a very busy Walking /Caching Long Easter Weekend !

The previous cache was hidden in a nearby tree that I thought was dead! nah got that wrong, its very much alive today
This one is almost a driveby and reach from the car! but after a long day filled with 5 1/2 hours of walking, maybe that is all the energy we have left, for a few park n grabs
Did not realise that was there, but glad to stop for a look. Thanks for the cache.

Heading back home from Atiu Creek, when merlot58 suggested stopping here to find the cache. Wasn't expecting this amazing ship, nor the themed cache!
Making my way north today, with the intention of getting a hike in. Still mulling over the potential options. In the meantime, time to stop for a quick find along the way. I parked up close to GZ and began my search. Found straight away. Interesting spot here. Cheers for the cache placement!
Today was another nice day for our holiday trip in new zealand were we of course also found some caches along the way.
Today we took a trip from kerikeri back to Auckland.
This is one of them. thank you for maintaining this cache.

Thanks for this well-themed hide - liked the hint and the appropriate container. This was a pleasant place to take a short stop
Here in NZ with SwagHo vacationing, visiting and most importantly Geocaching from Vancouver island BC Canada. TFTC
Creative hide and interesting boat launch. Here on our last few days of holidays with HennyGeo from Vancouver Island, BC, Canada in scenic New Zealand TFTC
We are on our way from Auckland to the north. The landscape is very varied and the streets go up and down. Of course, we had to sign the one or the other cache, of course. A nice area.
Many thanks to the owner and many greetings from Germany the Moorhelmis

As yesterdays mission was cut a bit short, as I needed to head back to base, I headed back out this morning to finish of the last few caches I was hoping to get, plus a bit of a detour to a previously found cache just for it's trackable it housed.
Heading back to base now, and hoping to find the 3 new caches along SH16 that I don't have. I visited this spot many times when I was younger as I used to jump off the bridge to go swimming, and I also visited the previous cache here. This one was much easier to spot than the last cache. Thanks for the placement.

Having failed to find the previous cache here, I was pleased to see a new one was here so swung by on my way back from Mangawhai and as it was drizzly rain, the car park was empty and I made a nice quick find thanks to the hint
Heading up to Whangarei area to visit people after landing from CHCH, I grabbed a couple caches along the way. Looked like an interesting area, so I pulled in. Felt the cache was a bit exposd so hid a little better, but all good!
TFTC SaltyCacheNutZ, the cache was found in good order Signed, sealed and returned to GZ. 1 finds of 1 today, making this find #1516

The treasure hidden at this place was discovered today on a short stop, as i drove by this nice place. My eyes quickly caught the hiding place and shortly after the log was signed. A fine place that you showed me here today.
Thanks from the german visitor for placing and maintaining this small treasure
***No muggles were harmed while searching, finding and logging this cache...***

This was our last find for what was a long successful day's geocaching for us. By now we were losing the light and feeling bad that the geohound would be sitting at home in the dark by himself so we were glad that this was a nice quick find here. Interesting little spot for a boating club. Thanks for placing and maintaining a cache here.
Once we waited for all the people to launch their boats the cache was a nice quick find. Remember another cache in this reserve which was not so easy. TFTC
Quick find on the way back to Auckland after a dash up here for an FTF. Nice spot I have stopped at before, also for caching... TFTC
Came here with FMZ and harisree. It's quite dark now, and harisree found this one for us. I too have been here before for a cache close by which has been archived now. It is a nice spot for launching your kayak or boats.
FITW Harisree
Decided to go for a ride along with harisree as it was her birthday and she wanted to find an FTF for her. Found some other caches on the way and when we finally reached our destination we were a bit early so decided to wait out the time so she could sign it at 12.01 am on her birthday... Was an quick and easy cache to find... Happy Birthday Harisree

Wooow.. What a night, full of surprises... I had decided to gift myself with an FTF today, as its my Birth day. Decided to go for this as it was not too far and doesn't require any bush bashing. Dom849 volunteered to join, with a mission to beat my loneliness syndrome. We picked up few other caches too on the way and parked in front of this one around 11.45. Found it easily with the help of the hint, and signed it around 12.01 am. Thank you so much Dom849 for all your efforts and Thank you SaltyCacheNutz for bringing us here.

Congrats on the FTF & Happy Birthday!
Surprised the cache had not been plundered earlier, especially with monday being "Talk Like a Pirate" day!
