Full time Nomads, travelling around Australia since 2014. This is the first time we have been back to St Arnaud since June 2015. SurprisedLove night caches.TFTC Tyred n Cranky [^]

08-Dec-22
Grabbed this bad boy with my Geobro on our St Arnaud adventure. We can have another multiday adventure here and probably not finish all of the local caches. A great caching town and TFTC.

Grabbed this the other night and great intro to Caching by Night

Yet another fun night cache with the tyred and cranky touch of magic, thank you so much.

06-Sep-22
Staying in StArnaud for a couple of nights you bet we were going out to find the night caches in the area.
Getting to the posted coordinates we had a little trouble spotting the first reflector but with K9teams 1200 lumen tourch we somehow spotted the 2nd and started off in that direction unsure because of how far away the reflector we could see was. Not too far in we found the first reflector and had lost the 2nd but kept going and found our way through the shrubs. From there we had a pretty good idea of what we were expecting and didn't take long to find all the information and on to Gz.
At Gz we were puzzled for a bit not seeing what we expected then it all clicked and the cache name finally made alot of sense.
Removing the cache from its hold and wiping away the spider sacks we had the log singed and back to the car.

Thanks Tyred n Cranky for this night cache.

05-Sep-22
This was to be the 1 of 13 finds for the day on our way from Bendigo to StArnaud with Ghihash to go camping and of course caching.
This was our 2nd night cache for tonight, and was on my list from the last time we visited the area. This trip I brought the right tools to get us through the bust after dark and a nice clear moon light also helped.
Really love the set up of this cache

Find # 10401

Out for a night walk.
Fending off the odd mozzie while following the wheels and reflectors through the bush.
I was aiming for a 10pm (2200H) find but just had to wait a couple of minutes so the GPSr would have a palindrome date&time reading.

Yep. 2202 22 2 2022 (2202H on 22nd Feb 2022)

Oh and not to mention this cache has a D/T rating of......... yep you got it, its a 2/2.

Oh and also looking at the palindrome side of things how about my find number.... 10401. Just a little trippy

All in all, hows that for a "2sday" 2 remember.

Planned burn is now complete and the area is safe to return the cache for cachers to find.

02-Mar-21
Have to disable this cache for a while due to a planned burn being organised in the area between 1st March and 1st June 2021. Will enable cache when it is safe to do so.

So there’s a cat at the end of an asphalt road that played chicken with us tonight. Sitting on the road staring at us approaching.
Naturally I floored it to the screams of Geokid as we got closer and closer and closer. That’s when I lost sight of it and swerved. In the rear view mirror? Cat still sitting. Not even looking in our direction. ??? Deaf and blind? Nope, but I’m a big chicken.
No sign of a starting beacon here but a wander off in the direction of the most trodden geo trail soon found results. The trail didn’t let us down and both coordinates found. Love the thoughtful hiding spot.
another favourite added to the pile.

Hi there Tyred n Cranky.

We found your cache **""** at 11:50:00 AM today. (This makes our find count 24514).

We started the day off by nominating a cache near our camp site and then took a route that was mostly determined by the next closest cache according to our GPS. We thoroughly enjoyed our trip around the area & ended up finding quite a variety of container types, and sizes hidden along our route.

We found 15 caches today & DNF'd 0. Without geocaching as our guide we would never have found so many interesting places on our nomadic travels around Australia.

**Coordinate Accuracy:** We found the cache around 2m from where the GPS said we should be looking. Wink
**Cache Condition:** The container and log book are in good shape.
**Took:** Nothing.
**Left:** A Smiley Badge.

Thanks for the hunt today,

Regards

Ian & Penny.

Roaming Howie and I are quite hungry and it is only four degrees but we are having a wheely good time out on this trail. Thanks for the night activities.

09-Jun-20
This was wheelie fun. About to head back to our campsite for a warm fire and some pasta and decided to complete this night cache. Yet again super clear reflectors and a great path. Thanks for the hide!

21-Mar-20
Awesome night out our first night cache in a while kids loved it besides the walking tftc guys

07-Mar-20
#4094 After successfully dealing with alien lifeform nearby, we wheelie wanted to do more night caching! After arriving at the starting coords, we had no issues picking up the bright reflections through the forest using our super bright torch. Had a chuckle as we passed each waypoint, loved the work gone into this hide. It was a smooth ride for us all the way to the final location tonight, no issues to spoke of. TFTC and fun Tyred n Cranky.

13-Jan-20
TFTC. We had come to St Arnaud to refuel the geo-vehicle as I had not cjhecked before leaving Maryborough. Over the years we have been in this town we had found parts of two of the night caches bu it never , for some reason or another, completed them Armed with co-ords we drove to GZ . This was not what we expected. On reflection being a cyclist I should not have been surprised buy the hide.

14-Dec-19
Not where I was expecting to find cranky. Thanks.

19-Nov-19
To finish our time at the Mega event we decided to go out with ilook4geo and Fnsaws to do a few night caches. This was the third and last one we decided to do for the night. The reflectors
also shone brightly for us here and we followed them to the end and found this container as well. All names were added to the log and we were soon on our way back to camp. Thanks go to Tryed n Cranky for this fun cache.

19-Nov-19
Went out with goingplaces2 and Fnsaws for some night caching. This was an interesting bush trail to follow and our mission was soon achieved, but we really needed those good torches. Cache and log are on good nick. Thanks to the CO for this one.

19-Nov-19
Out with goingplaces2. After the mega event. Day 81 of our trip. Caching along the way. A total of 3 for the day and 2341 for the trip. TFTC

18-Nov-19
The St Arnaud Mega has been and gone with six days of non-stop caching and now the worst part is to log them all.
By the time I have completed this task I think I should have a clean sheet with all smileys until the next caches are published.
The dust out on the bush tracks is very fine like the bull dust that you get in Central Australia, the White Beast is not white anymore. The bush is tinder dry and most dams and waterholes are dry or very close to it and the farmers are working around the clock, I think because they are either in the middle of harvest or madly baling grass hay.
I would like to thank all the cache owners whose caches I have found in the last few days as this has to be a cut and paste operation to log so many.
The folk who run the Event are to be congratulated on a supreme job and from my point of view every thing ran like clock work but I guess some things did not go to plan but I have not heard of any major problems.
I had a forced extra day in St Arnaud waiting for a couple of tyres as I had the misfortune to wreck a tyre out in the bush on Sunday but I could think of worse places to be stranded.
I had a disagreement with a rock or something sharp but now I have two new tyres so should be good for some time.
This guy has been on my must find list for far too long so armed with my powerful torch I was soon signing the log.
Thanks Tyred n Cranky for placing.

Catnap777 & OZREG formed a team on 10 May 2020.

17-Nov-19
Found on day four of my St. Arnaud Mega event adventure and it was time to team up with kittykatch, Smittengranny and Joolay (aka Capital Crunchers) to go on a night caching adventure.

This one was the second night cache of the night and we had a great time following the theme of this one! Nice easy find at GZ!

Thanks for the fun, Tyred n Cranky Cool Definitely a fave point for this fun set up!

17-Nov-19
We teamed up with Rapidlywild and headed down from Canberra for another Geocaching Victoria Mega. We arrived at our accommodation in Bendigo on Friday afternoon / evening and checked out a few caches in the area before retiring for the evening. On Saturday morning, we had a pleasant drive across to St Arnaud, arriving at the event as the opening ceremony was wrapping up, and the lab caches were released, so we joined the frenzy with the masses solving the cleverly constructed lab caches.

Sunday, day two of our mega weekend we headed over to St Arnaud to tackle some of the fire trails, and what ever else we came across along the way. After tackling the FT trail we had time to head over to the Loop Trail, another set of good containers, and more fun in the dirt, and a night cache to top of the day. It's that time of the year again, Victorian Mega time, so its off to St Arnaud for myself and the ladies of FurfacesLL. A long road trip ahead, heading off Friday morning and getting home late Monday night and a fun filled weekend. We found many caches of all kinds of variety.. Trads, Multis, Puzzles, EC's, Virtuals, Letterboxes, Wherigos, Events, Cito's and of course, the Mega itself. We enjoyed the weekend and there sure are some unique caches here in St Arnaud, we still have plenty left to collect, so may need to coordinate another trip this way some time.

Sunday is here, after a massive day yesterday doing the StARS trails, the Challenge trails, the CITO, Events and Lab caches. Today we decided to head out to try some of the Fire Trail trails and we were not disappointed.

Gotta love a good night cache Big Grin has to be one of our fav types.

Thanks for the hide Tyred n Cranky Big Grin And thanks to the FFLL ladies for another amazing trip away Big Grin

Another interesting night cache amd a great way to finish the Mega. Tks for all the organising and a great weekend.

17-Nov-19
I thought I was teaching my caching partner (Catnap777) the art of night caching. Then she informs me there is nothing I could teach her. I'm afraid to argue.

17-Nov-19
What a great cache and great company to be with running around the bush. Have not done many night caches and the ones here were such fun. Fav from me.

Up in St Arnauds for the Mega and looking forward to picking up the caches around.
Will be signed Capital crunchers. Found with Kittykatch, Barb2e and Smittengranny.
Unless otherwise stated cache is in good condition.

17-Nov-19
My logs are all going to be out of order. As this was the last one we have just done, I can remember it better than the others. I loved it. So clever. I set out with Joolay, Kittykatch, barb2e and Specimen X to find our way to the start of this cache after completing the nearby night cache. It in itself was a challenge but we eventually arrived and soon set off. What a great trail. Thanks for the creativity in this one. Log was found, signed - no stamped as Capital Crunchers and returned to its hidey hole. Brilliant time was had by all. TFTNC

17-Nov-19
Sometime during the Saturday night, while we were busy with the O&A series, a new multi cache was published nearby. We then diverted our focus to the nightcaches and once we started decided to do all 7, finishing in the early hours of Sunday morning. Finally we were onto the final of the 7.

We were getting wheely tired after a very long day but we cranked up the energy levels to power to GZ. With no sticks getting in the spokes or spanners falling in the works we were soon on the podium claiming our prize.
We hope we don't get disqualified for not wearing helmets in the pursuit of this cache.

This theme is a wheelie good idea considering the COs name.
Thanks for the enjoyable multi, Tyred n Cranky.
We finished tired but not cranky.

***

These nightcaches were on our target list during the 2019 St Arnaud Event getaway.
Highlights of the Mega were attending all the weekend's social events, finding all 50 challenge caches in under 1 hour, finding all 40 lab caches, all 6 wherigos, and doing all 7 night caches in one night. No DNFs. Finding 11 cache types in 1 day. And of course making a start on the impressively creative constructions that FUF and TnC have made St Arnaud renowned for over the years.

16-Nov-19
Teamed up with Wollaston and co for my first night caching experience. I am amazed by the efforts of Tyred and Cranky and Fuf009. Thankyou for a great first mega and your caches.
and the help of Wollaston and co, cheers

Found during a trip to St Arnaud to attend the Mega event.

FeatherWaite, gridge98 and I left Adelaide on the Thursday, taking a circuitous, but scenic route to St Arnaud to pick up a few caches in some other Victorian LGAs. We met up with Freddo and Davidwazza at the event that evening and teamed up to complete a couple more caches that night together before camping out of town.

Over the next three days we cached very solidly in and around St Arnaud, finding a diverse range of Traditional, Multi, Unknown, Virtual, Letterbox, Wherigo and Earthcaches as well as attending all the events associated with the Mega. We also managed to complete all the Lab caches over the weekend. Logbooks were signed D.E.F.F.98 (Davidwazza, e.gregory1, FeatherWaite, Freddo and gridge98).

On the Sunday afternoon, after the final GIFF event, FeatherWaite and I began making our way back to Adelaide, picking up a couple of caches before camping in the Little Desert NP. The following day we continued towards home with a side visit to Mount Rescue to pick up a few caches along the tracks there.

Thanks to all the cache owners for placing and maintaining the caches. They included a huge variety of containers, hides and puzzles, many of which were very clever and/or amusing and had obviously taken considerable time and effort to construct. Thanks also to all those who organised the Mega and the associated events. I’ll be looking forward to the Mega at Millicent in South Australia next Easter!

It was time to assemble the crew again for another Mega assault. (The Mob)
Once again Geocaching Victoria has absolutely put together another enjoyable Mega event, and what a great place to have it.
I have never had the opportunity to cache in St Arnaud before but after this weekend I will definitely be back.
Cheers for the cache and adding to the great weekend of caching fun.

Out with Bunadoorian and Smiley1982 togather another night cache. We teamed up with another team as we arrived at the same time. Great cache and trail. TFTC Tyred n Cranky - find 22 today plus the Lab caches on site.

Found as part of our trip to the St Arnaud Mega event. On Day 1, e.gregory1, gridge98 and I left Adelaide on the Thursday morning, straight after the Earlybirds event in North Adelaide. We travelled a long and circuitous route via Bordertown, Nhil and Warracknabeal to find caches in 5 additional Victorian LGAs that I had yet to visit (namely Buloke, Loddon, [Greater Bendigo - I’d previously visited], Mt Alexander, Hepburn and Central Goldfields). On Days 2-4 we met up with Freddo and Davidwazza. As a group we systematically completed each of the many series around St Arnaud and found all other caches along the way, signing the logbooks as DEFF98 (Davidwazza, e.gregory1, Freddo, Featherwaite and gridge98), as well as attending the events and completing the Lab caches. After the Mega, e.gregory1 and I headed back to Adelaide camping out in Little Desert NP overnight. On Day 5 we had intended picking up caches around Mundulla and Mount Monster but a last minute change of plans saw us head into Ngarkat CP instead, for a solid drive and a few extra rewarding cache finds. Many thanks to all the cache owners for placing the huge variety of caches around St Arnaud and to all those who organised the Mega and the fantastic weekend away. Thanks for the cache Tyred n Cranky!

Where have you wheelie bin?

Twelve months ago as we finished the Parkville Mega we were advised by someone that the next Victorian Mega event would be held in Saint Arnold. Somebody else told us that the Mega event would be held in Saint Arnood. And then another said that Saint Arned was the Mega event venue. Who should I believe? Struggling to understand the English language at the best of time. Freddo speaks two languages, Australian and Bad English.
Move forward a year. There is a cluster of events, including a MEGA event, at this town called St Arnaud burning a hole in my GPSr. The big white Pay Hero is loaded with GPSr, TOTT and camping gear and we headed east with a collaboration of like minded South Australian colleagues. DavidWazza, e.gregory1, Featherwaite, freddo and Gridge98 make team DEFF98.
Thursday: 5am event at a bakery in North Adelaide. The bed wetter team meets and says that this is way too early. Travel 500km east for the Thursday evening event. Freddo gets a prize. I am no mug. Camping in the bush under the stars.
Friday: Up early and headed out on the trails. And then back to our campground for a CITO! I am sure we did not make that much mess last night. More trails and 200 caches find for the day including a cluster of caches where freddo left DNA. More bush camping after a great meal in the Sporting Club.
Saturday: Up early for an event. Who puts an event on at 8am. Damn South Australians that’s who. After the event it was back on the trails and the Pay Hero is getting dustier and dustier. Found some awesome caches. Freddo the metallurgist was very impressed with the welding. Quality fabrication. And then another CITO. This time at the dump. Plenty of rubbish here. Some of it good stuff. Can I take some home? And finally a giant queue for a free meal. Nothing attracts a crowd like a free meal. The moment of the evening was receiving a Hall of Fame nomination. That prize is going straight to the pool room.
Sunday: Another night camping in the bush. Some fabulous night caches walks were undertaken. Night caching is a special form of entertainment. We spent the day cruising around picking up the left over unfound caches and meeting heaps of new friends. Boycotted the GIFF event since it did not show the freddo film “Cache Confusion” https://vimeo.com/372568752. One minute and forty four seconds of your life you won’t get back. A quick speech and it was back on the road for home. Well Horsham. More camping. This time by a river.
Monday: Caches around Horsham and following the Duke’s Highway back to Adelaide. Time for a shower for this smelly geocacher. An exhausted chocolate frog slept well.

We came, we cached, we ate, we slept; repeat for five days of fun and dust.

Easter 2020 sees South Australia hosting the next Easter big MEGA event, GeoVenture 2020 at Millicent. GC82DAN. Check it out. We would love to see you there.

Out nightcaching with Jascat, and just as we rocked up, there was another team there gearing up, so we all decided that many heads make light work, and all took off intomthe darkness.....except for the 8 torches going everywhere...
It all went very casually with lots of chatting and before we knew it we were all standing at GZ signing our lives away (official timekeeper had that one at 11 minutes, start to finish)
We love a good night cache.

St Arnaud is like Disneyland for cachers. So many cool concepts, quality, and can you believe no DNF's!

This was a nice quick and easy one that we were able to grab in the dead of the night. Loved the final concept, such a great idea! Bike reflectors are perfect.

These are probably the only night cache in Victoria that don't need maintenance! Very Happy

A FP from me.

16-Nov-19
Late into the night our team of adventurers (lochb, ozibags, myself and possibly landau351 if he had had to leave by this stage to head north to his accomodation in Charlton?) tackled the dirt roads in lochb's geomobile and headed off by torchlight to find GZ. No troubles following the trail of large reflectors and/or other nightcachers as I recall for a successfully logged visit of the final location. Smile

Found during a trip to St Arnaud to attend the 2019 Victorian Mega event. The weekend was spent primarily with e.gregory1, FeatherWaite, Freddo, and gridge98 as we geocached around the vicinity of St Arnaud. All of the events and CITOs were attended, we completed the available adventure labs and lab caches available at the showgrounds, many of the creative trails were gasped at their construction, and interesting puzzles were solved and collected during the weekend.

We all left on Thursday in two separate cars, and met up at the evening event, before finding a camp spot for the night in a very CITO location. On Friday, we targeted the StARS (St Arnaud Ramble Series) and the higher quality, well-constructed geocaches that were famous here in St Arnaud, and got lucky with the 2019 published series that we managed to snag FTFs on. Sunday had us continuing to find the other sets of high-quality caches around the neighbouring town parks, the challenge series, before spending a few hours at geocaching HQ participating in the labs that had been published. The event was also great to see some of the South Australians honoured with geocaching life awards (in amongst everyone on the list). Our final day, Sunday, had us do a big loop finishing off our geocache collection, driving all the way out to Kooreh and around via Stuart Mill, walking the conservation park at Mount Gowar, and finishing off at the GIFF event. A massive weekend that turned out to be a great mega! Thanks to all those who organised the Mega and the associated events. The variety between the local high-quality caches, the new series placed by the mega team, and those who needed to be around for the labs and main centre fielding questions was appreciated immensely.

Today, we continued with the well-constructed caches, starting off at the original series, *Fire Break Track* FBT, followed by the *Loop Track* LT series, visiting a few geocaches in between. We then called into Mega HQ to register our attendance, and then progressed through the Challenge series. We finished off the day with the CITO event and a few miscellaneous and puzzle caches around the area, and then had a well-deserved BBQ dinner at the event. We also completed a few night caches towards the west of St Arnaud, which turned out to be great and easily followed.

This was one of the two night multi-cache that we completed tonight, and we didn't have any problems whatsoeveer. We enjoyed the theme to this one, and the final cache container and logbook were in good shape. For these reasons, Favourite Point from me. Thanks Tyred n Cranky for placing and maintaining this cache. The logbook was signed as DEFF98 (Davidwazza, e.gregory1, FeatherWaite, Freddo, and gridge98).

A weekend of caching with AlphaDeltaIndigo and Ying-Yang in St Arnaud, along with a heap of other people. We stayed at Wedderburn, and commuted to St Arnaud each day, and what an amazing area this was to cache in! We very much enjoyed our trip to the Northern Grampians Shire! My fifth Victorian Mega (sixth overall) and can't wait to come back next year and do it again!

This was find number 26 of 28 for the day for me. TFTC Tyred n Cranky!

After the event this evening we set off to complete 2 of the night caches,

Another nice and easy night cache, these night caches were really good and a bit of fun, the cache was found all in order

What a big trip this was! I headed over to St Arnaud for the 2019 Victorian mega with e.gregory1, Davidwazza, Featherwaite and Freddo for the long weekend.
The weekend was filled with a lot of finds ranging in puzzles, a few events and some very well constructed hides around the area.

Day 1: I headed over with e.gregory1 and featherwaite, with the aim to collect some unfound LGAs for the guys, with only a 500km drive to the mega from home we added an extra 450km to the trip by going over to Bendigo and further south exploring some regional towns, overall we added an extra 6 LGAs with only 18 finds for the day. Was great to see some of the interesting little towns and what they had to offer for future visits.

Day 2: As a group we hit the trails in St Arnaud as a group signing the logbooks as DEFF98 (Davidwazza, e.gregory1, Freddo, featherwaite and gridge98) to save a lot of room in the logbook. We started off with the geoart Stars and thought it would take most of the day, as we finished it in 2.5 hours we were a bit surprised so hit the well constructed caches in the south of the town in the bush throwing a CITO in the mix. All the caches were amazing and something you don’t see anywhere else. Adding in 15 FTFs along the way with: everlasting, crank1 and Pwola. The evening settled in and we headed into town for a buffet dinner and a catch up with some familiar faces.

Day 3:
After attending the GV2020 event for the morning we set off to hit the last of the trails left in town of the metal containers, followed by the challenges for the mega as well as quite a few trads around the back roads. We ended the day by having a go at the lab caches at the mega then off to the CITO. I don't think I have ever seen so mant people at a tip before. Topped off the day with an evening event.

Day 4: By today the town was almost cleaned out and only a few caches to find, so we did the last few caches within a rough 15km radius driving around finding the odd cache here and there. The GIFF was finished off the mega so we decided to head to Horsham for the evening.

Day 5: After leaving our camp site for the morning, we cached for the morning around Horsham collecting a few grads and a well earned swim. Then made the long drive back home to Adelaide.

Thanks to all the COs for their cache placements and the Geocaching Victoria crew for organising a fantastic weekend away.

One of 4 night caches a crew of us did tonight - quadrupled what had previously been done or not as the case may be for me. Cruising in the bush on a perfect night is a recipe for a jolly time. TFTC and the journey.

This weekend was the St. Arnaud Mega event and I was looking forward to hitting the road for a few days doing some flat out caching, visiting many new and amazing places and catching up with lots of caching friends. The event was a great success and heaps of fun. The caches provided by the local cachers were, in many cases, absolutely mind blowing (FUF009 caches most notably). All in all it was a great weekend, very warm weather and lots of caches found.
Cache found and log signed.

#1756 - 10.10pm

(Finds #1757-1766 were part of the Adventure Lab series: 'Coffee, Cake and Fast Food Tour of St Arnaud'; 11.15pm)

I've found that Mega events often lead to a night cache or two in the evenings. Personally, I do most of my caching at night, so I'm always up for it. But at a Mega, it night caching with a twist - or should I say, with a horde! The usual peace and serenity I embrace in my regular nocturnal activities instead becomes a chaotic buzz of conversations and a dazzling array of torchbeams, amid various groups of geocaching teams moving around in all directions, all while generally hurtling along at a heady pace - as people try to fit as much as possible into their weekend.

And it was in these Mega conditions that Heymissjo and I drove Crustvarmint and OSHFAM to our first intended night cache. But the proposed approach road was unduly rough. A rethink was made. Another team fearlessly pushed on but shouldn't have, and got the fender bender scars to prove it. Yep, just because your car CAN get you to a destination doesn't mean you SHOULD! And so tonight, we saw how discretion is the better part of valor in most instances!
Well played, heymissjo!!

We rerouted to this hide as an alternative night cache, but now with one less car in our convoy. At the listed coordinates there were already a number of cars parked along the side of the access road. Arriving at the same time as us were n0w0rries and TeamGBS (from Zimbabwe), so we formed a new unified posse and went in search of waypoints.

I was content to sit at the back of the group and quiz TeamGBS on some of their recent incredible tree climbing feats and soak up the stars with heymissjo. Meanwhile, the hunters at the front of our pack guided us off track for a while before granting us a smoother passage to GZ and ultimately back to the car.

This was a fun adventure, though I felt I was just in the slipstream of others. But that was totally fine by me because I often cache at night on my own. I was happy simply to spend time catching up with old mates, make new friendships and share this experience.

Because this is what great memories are made of. ??

Thanks so much, Tyred n Cranky.

Tonight I was playing 'Chauffeur' to heymissjo, OSHFAM and Crustyvarmint. This Adventure Lab was a great way to discover our sustenance options for the weekend while we attend the St Arnaud Event. I also got to practice my reverse and U-turn skills on the deserted streets of this gorgeous town.
Thanks so much.

A nice long night cache just the way I like themWink.
A big thank you to Tyred & Cranky for another wheelie fantastic night cache

After the evening dinner event we ended up talking to another Tassie team the Tassie Trekkers and we came upon the idea to do a couple of night caches.

Well six nightcaches later at gone one in the morning we headed back to our hotel/caravan to get some sleep at long last!

Each of the night caches was excellent with everyone being a joy to do, we werent the only mad cachers out at this time of night as we spotetd a number of other teams, some we got to talk to other we just noticed their torches.

Thanks for a great night out as it were.

This was the Mega trip that started out as a simple trip to St Arnaud for just the Mega and turned into a mega road trip starting with myself and GooseandEgg flying into Adelaide to collect a rental 4WD so we could drive an indirect route to St Arnaud and then on to Melbourne so we could fly home again.

The Goose had put a lot of planning into the trip so we could both complete or get close to completing our D/T grids, collect a number of good interesting caches and cache types we didn't have many off.

For me this was the best organised Mega I have been to, the stand out was how the committee had managed to get the whole St Arnaud community to welcome us all to the area, just about everyone we meet knew what we were there for and I had no awkward moments explaining what Geocaching was.

After dinner at the club I headed out with Tassie Trekkers and stainless steel rat for a night cache or two, or so I thought! Six night caches later and well past the witching hour we called it quits and headed off to bed, dropping Tassie trekkers back at their caravan on the way.
Thanks Tyred n Cranky for this brilliant night cache.

When planning the St Arnaud mega trip I was keen to incorporate some missing D/T’s from my grid. Stainless steel rat suggested flying to Adelaide ‘on the way’ and driving across so a route was planned and a fun week of caching began. I cherry picked in my planning so as not to run out of time for the ones I wanted, and we added a few on the day if there was time. We met up with various teams along the way including a planned rendezvous with Tassie Trekkers in Kaniva for a fun days caching. I ended up with around five hundred finds (including labs) for the week, and still had plenty of time for socializing along the way. It was great to catch up with some old friends and of course make new ones.
Special thanks to the St Arnaud mega committee for a great weekend.

Leaving our hired cache-mobile behind in the caravan park we set off tonight with The Welder N0W0rries and heymissjo to the waypoint given, then with headlamps donned we set off on the trail of the reflectors. It was great fun walking through the bush on this lovely calm evening seeing the line of torches and headlamps of the group ahead of us, then not long after another group behind us. We had no problem following the trail then having found the numbers required we updated our GPS with the corrected co-ordinates and then set off towards Ground Zero where the good fun cache was quickly located. Thanks so much for the cache and greetings from Zimbabwe ??????

Day 2 St Arnaud Campground to St Arnaud area B and B

Found after the friday night dinner event. Who doesn't like a night multi? quick find once we got to the final. The cache name makes sense now.

Came over to the 2019 mega in St Arnaud with Mogni. We where joined by jj52, Aussie M and M plus others at different times over the mega weekend. Many caches where found over the course of the 8 day trip. Targeting multi's on the way there and back plus the challenge trail in Mount Beckworth reserve. The creative trails around St Arnaud where the highlight of the trip.

Some great night caches, my sister and I never had to do them alone, as at each one we arrived at the same time as another group. Perfect nights to do them.
We met up with two other groups, one at the beginning of the cache and another cacher showed up when we were nearing the end, and we ended up doing two more night caches with him, which was great.

After meeting up at the Friday night event, mogni, M & M and Sir Spectre headed out to this wheelie, wheelie cranky cache. Loved the design of this one, Tyred n Cranky.
Thanks for the fun, met and helped some newer teams who had obviously never done a night cache before too, all in all, a great experience. A favourite from Mark and Mary.

Staying at the Mega in our caravan on the edge of the grounds, I met up with n0w0rries to discuss a possible night cache outing.
Crustyvarmint organized a bunch of us to go out.
I left geo hubby with the kids at the caravan and went off on my night adventure.
Out with Crustyvarmint, n0w0rries, The Welder, heymissjo and TeamGBS. We parked the car and made our way to the GZ. We saw many other torch lights amongst the bushland coming and going from all sorts of directions.
TeamGBS makes a quick find and we all sign our names in the logbook. Interesting looking waypoints.
A bit of chitter chatter occurred whilst walking. It was great to get to know heymissjo and The Welder who also allowed me to share a ride with them.
It was a great night for caching, the moon was big in the sky and shining bright. It was decided we were going to do an Adventure Lab next before returning to retire into our beds.
Thank you for the cache here Tyred n Cranky

I met up with some lovely ladies for the Mega and after stopping off to check out our slightly creepy accommodation, we headed out for a night cache or two.
We got a little lost on the dirt tracks but soon found the starting coords and were on our way. This was an enjoyable night cache because the reflectors were very clear, and the ones that included the coords were very creative.
We had company at GZ and it was a team effort until someone said “found it”.
Thanks for the great night cache!

A small group of us went out after dinner tonight to locate this cache. With heymissjo, The Welder, Oshfam, n0w0rries and team GBS, we enjoyed our walk through the bush. Many other torches were seen travelling around the area. Gavin made a quick find after we had located the co-ords along the journey.
Thanks Tyred n Cranky. Your work has been outstanding.

St Arnaud Day 2
We are camped in the overflow section near the club while attending the Mega Event.
We have been travelling around the town & countryside searching for caches. This town has the most amazing & inventive caches that we have found in any area. The locals should be proud of what they have placed here.
Many of the puzzles which we had spent many hours pondering over, we had solve before leaving home.
Night caches are always a lot of fun to do.
Thankyou for placing this cache Tyred n Cranky

After the evening event, we headed off to attempt this night cache. We were just setting off into the light bush when some others arrived and we joined forces. We found each of the waypoints without any hassles and likewise, accurate coordinates led to a quick find of the cache. The cache and contents were in good condition. Thanks Tyred n Cranky for another very good night cache - it also earns a favourite from us.

Find #10615

Its that time of year, everyone is excited and all are heading for a great weekend of caching, this year, the destination of choice is St Arnaud. I was unsure if I would have much time for caching due to having to do more than I really wanted for this mega, so I left a little early so I could at least find some caches along the way.

It was only Thursday and with plenty of daylight left, I headed out with beckNmonts as well as gabs1963 to find some nearby cache trails starting with this one. Loving the creative containers.

In a town filled with night caches, couldnt possibly pass up the chance to do as many as possible. Love the reflectors

Many thanks to Tyred n Cranky for the cache. TNLN.

Day 2 of the St.Arnaud pre Mega road trip on this long weekend with biggles1024.
After a big day chasing StARS and challengers it was now time to refuel and get ready for a few night caches.
This was the second for the night and this one was certainly a lot easier than the previous one to find the start.
We rolled on into the bush in search of some shiny things which was easy as they lit up like a Christmas tree, after finding what was needed, we rolled on a bit further and the cache was found.
