Fascinated by the name Tavora as there's no v in Māori. Must be like Akaloa with no l in Māori either. Love this old knowledge. Not so keen on the unfound cache!

29-May-23
Gave GZ a good look, with no luck.

Next time. The visit to the beach is well worth it.

24-Mar-23
Came over for the three caches here but no luck with this one. Tried all tree, bushes and the posts. Only found one post had a screw with nothing on it or in the ground incase dropped.

14-Jan-22
No dogs in tow today so I will come and clear up Tavora Reserve. Could only get this one as Reserve is closed till end of February.

16-Sep-21
Level 2 - geocaching allowed

19-Aug-21
As the country enters Level 4 (lockdown), https://covid19.govt.nz

It is strongly recommend that whilst we go for a walk for exercise, we need to take care on shared surfaces and geocaching should not be done at this time; https://wiki.groundspeak.com/display/GEO/New+Zealand

To remove temptation, I am disabling this cache and ask kindly that you do not find this cache during lockdown.

Remember there is more than physically finding a cache, there are plenty of puzzle caches you can do at home. Or if you live near a multi you can walk the trail and save the find for another day. For more info or connect with wider community see Geocaching New Zealand on Facebook.

Stay home, stay safe and save lives.

Another day doing the caching rounds. Decided to stick a bit closer to where we are staying today and try to clean this area up.

Made a nice quick find here but couldn't head down the track due to a closed nov-feb sign. tftc

Out with the 60+ walking group. We did a long loop around, stopping for lunch at a high point overlooking the sea. I had scoped this out before we left, so grabbed it quickly while others changed boots, etc before heading off for a well-deserved coffee at Waitati.

TNLN. TFTC.

We took far longer than we should have to find this cache, hidden in the logical location, after forgetting to read the hint. TFTC

No dogs were destroyed today, thankfully. We were picking up a few caches on our way home, and stopped by here. Found with Debsnz. Thanks Natalie.

After a walk along the cliffs it was back on the road for a few more before heading home...
Nice quick find tftc

Popular spot today with the blue-sky winter day. After waiting for muggles to start their walk I quickly grabbed this cache. Plan is to head on over Bobby's Head after checking out the beach. TFTC

Right at the carpark! Easy find.... but not nearly so easy to unscrew the dang thing. A lovely walk around the loop track today - wonderful views up and down the coast. It is just amazing how the trees have grown over the last 25 years.

07-Aug-19
And so we arrived at the Tavora Reserve, quick cache at the gate, then off for a walk. Thanks Natalie247

I've walked the reserve a couple of times in the past. Cache was quickly located although I wasn't too sure what the hint meant.

29-Nov-17
Wow never seen a sign containing that before. Nice quick find here. Had intended on taking the walk into Tavora Reserve for the next one but the track was closed for "seasonal management". I was just contemplating heading for the cache and not the whole walk when a car drove past and the driver starring at me intently so I decided perhaps I wouldn't afterall. TFTC # 11,448

Nice quick park and grab - Thanks Bitsprayer

I believe this cache is ok following heavy rainfall over last 48 hrs, however roads in the area have been affected. A state of Emergency is still in place - for upto date info on roads go to www.dunedin.govt.nz/road-conditions
A large portion of my caches have been in affected area and I am currently through work/voluenteering have to focus on other post flooding activities.
As I expect it will be at least 1 week until I can do effective maintenance runs to check and replace caches I apologise now if you were hoping to claim this for a dot day/Mary Hyde gold and it is not in its expected state.
I would be grateful for any comments on what needs to be done and help empty water and provide dry logs.

Found on 20/07/2017.

A bit of a disaster in the planning today, went up Carey's creek to grab a couple of caches but half-way up realsised the GPSr was sitting on top of the car. A quick dash back to rescue the Garmin then a change of plans and a drive to Palmerston and back on a mini road-trip instead

Very muddy at the car park today.
