Day thirty three of our epic New Zealand Adventure with The Morris.Wandering around Wellington, a few caches and some AdLabs. The day started a bit damp, but soon got better. Still very windy though.Spent most of the day at Te Papa.Solved our puzzle and headed off to GZ.Nice spot with a good view. Thanks, Robmc.
Day 33 of our Enzed adventures with Robmc and today was predicted to be rainy, windy and cold so the intention was to head to Te Papa for the day. Before we headed in we wandered about a bit collecting some AdLabs and caches. Thanks for contributing to an amazing holiday
#3807 I am on my geocaching holiday in New Zealand. Today is my day 3, and I walked around Wellington and found some geocaching here.Found it! The coordinates were 7-8m off. My geosense led me to the GZ. boxhill, thank you for the cache!-crystaloops from Taipei, Taiwan on October 3, 2024 @ 21:54:40[GC6WCEQ] Waitangi Park - (Wellington) was a D2.0/T1.5 Micro Mystery Cache at the time of finding.
Having solved this a while back I finally had an opportunity to visit welli gton and catch the bus up to TePapa and then walk up to this solved cache . I was looking in the wrong place for a little while and decided to contact the C O but then , after gentleman moved I looked a little further and then had the cache in hand . There were young boys fishing off the wharf here but they were oblivious to my actions thankfully . Thank you for this cache. I took nothing and left nothing .
We didnt solve a whole lot of mysteries in Wellington because we were only here to start and end our holiday. We did solve this one because it was close to the hotel we stayed at for the first night, but never got to it for the rain.Seven days later and we were back to visit the museum before heading to the airport. Finally this was our chance to walk out and visit. We were freezing so we didnt want to spend long looking. That was a fail because we ended up spending a fair bit of time.In the end we knew we just had to check everything thoroughly and quickly or walk away. Im not sure the airline would except caching as as an excuse for holding up the plane, but remind me to try it one day.
Matagouri and I are enjoying a special weekend getaway in Wellington. Having flown in yesterday evening, we have woken up today to a traditional Wellington welcome of cold, blustery, gale force winds. I think I'll be spending most of today clinging onto matagouri's arm, trying not to become airborne!Wow, the wind was howling here! There were some crazy people battling fishing into the wind here, but their attention was fully focused on hanging onto everything so we completed the necessaries as quickly as possible and headed for shelter. Thanks for setting this up
I'd solved this one earlier today and decided to include it as part of a pre-dinner stroll this afternoon. Once at a familiar sort of GZ, it was down to the task at hand. After trying a few likely spots without success, I finally had the cache in hand at 17:05 and signed the log while enjoying the vista. TNLNSL, although our BYO pen geocoin had a visit to mark the occasion. Thanks boxhill.
Solved (?) ages ago, but after the last time I walked down this wharf. Today's wharf walk was cold, bitter and wet, but the cache was eventually found. Tftc!
Beautiful calm early evening with a full moon. Can't beat it. Confounded by the puzzle initially, trying all sorts of crazy things before re-reading the page and realising I forgot to try the thing I usually try first on all puzzle pages...muggled out a few times but tonight just two nearby, facing away from me the entire search. Pleasantly surprised when I put my hand on the container - not what I was expecting. TFTC.
Walked past here earlier this evening but muggled out (like every other time I have attempted). A couple of hours later had another walk by and nobody around. Cache in hand quickly, signed and replaced. Thanks for the cache.
I have checked every conceivably metal surface in this area and no dice. What am I doing wrong?
We (raija485 and I) have few days to search geocaches and explore the city at the same time. As for the weather, it's really nice to be here and move around (as long it's not raining). Thanks for the cache and greetings from Finland!
Our first whole day in Wellington. Sunny day, nice caches. Greetings from Finland Thank you for this cache.
Having no friends in the caching community, I was never going to be able to log this mob-cache, so I was delighted the other day to realise it had changed, and i could solve it. Picked it up today, and enjoyed the thrill of a beautiful blank logsheet. Thanks very much for making this available!
Geocachers on tour. We are a travel group with almost 40 people from Germany and we log with Downunder 2024 to save space. We visited this cache Waitangi Park - (Wellington) today and it is in the logbook. The tour group includes: gc, AndyausDu, AmoebeST, B@cker-1, Biggidag, Brummelbren, CacheTaucher, cooljo, Fotopinguin, Freizeit-Tina, Gazelle5111, GEO Karen, GoanToni, HFo, hupsi-1, karrai *, Leilah03, lenny love, Lupus54, Maxipimpf, muschel3, Ollilein, Opaundenkel, penalty96, Rheins, Simowl, sozioma, Sr. Elli, Team Zyanor, viko76, Webmasterrollerin, Whlhase, XenSuo Thank you very much
We had a great time in Australia and New Zealand and looked at many sights. Today we looked at Wellington and discovered many beautiful sights and details through geocaching. I am also part of the large tour group from Germany, for reasons of space, we have entered the logbook as **DownUnder24**.Thank you for luring and hiding, says ollileinThe tour group includes: gc, AndyausDu, AmoebeST, B@cker-1, Biggidag, Brummelbren, CacheTaucher, cooljo, Fotopinguin, Freizeit-Tina, Gazelle5111, GEO Karen, GoanToni, HFo, hupsi-1, karrai *, Leilah03, lenny love, Lupus54, Maxipimpf, muschel3, Ollilein, Opaundenkel, penalty96, Rheins, Simowl, sozioma, Sr. Elli, Team Zyanor, viko76, Webmasterrollerin, Whlhase, XenSuo
Page Refreshed - despite some problems with the original concept. It has always been possible to find the cache.

We presolved this cache whilst in the UK. We noticed a few DNFs and still went to the end of the pier. A few magnetic possibilities.Unfortunately we only came away with a sad face.
Had a poke around GZ and no luck. I'll have to come back another night. Challenging cache to get, this one! There's strangers around even at night sometimes!
spent 6 great weeks in New Zealand with my The start was a bit bumpy (Cyclone Gabrielle) but then it got better and better. We travelled to both islands and discovered a lot. We photographed and filmed many beautiful things, but most of it stayed in our hearts.
Almost everywhere we stopped, a cache was already waiting for us. Most of the caches are well maintained and easy to find.
With mostly very nice weather, we saw a lot of this impressive island. In many places, caches were waiting for us, which were sometimes easy and sometimes difficult to find. This cache was also included and was successfully signed
We puzzled a lot in advance and the tours were well prepared
So this box was also well found.
now I have another on my personal cache card.
many thanks to [^] **boxhill** [^] for the effort and the cache and greetings from Germany

We are enjoying our vacation to New Zealand and today we are in Wellington. It was wet and windy today, but we put on our rain jackets and raised our umbrellas and made the best of our day. We enjoyed our walk around the harbor. So pretty! There was so much to see. We like that you provided an alternate way to solve this cache. Nice hide!
Thank you for the geocache hide. We really appreciate it!
Greetings from Wisconsin U.S.A.!

#21934. Found a bit later in the day when Troodles was here, and thankfully the rain had stopped. No joy opening up the nano. TFTC.
OK, so not a good day for doing this cache, though the walk to GZ was covered in parts . A bit of casting round to find the wee blighter, pleased when finally spotted it.
Found a nearby spot with a bit of shelter to do the paperwork, but like others have reported, it is hard to open, so have taken a photo which will upload when I can find the appropriate cable . TFTC.

Hunting pigeons in the park, but a detour here. Same experience as others. Breaching place to visit just on twilight!
Found with kozjah and ivss_xx doing the heavy lifting. The container is fused shut so we took a photo.

Ah, too bad the mob-thing isn't working. There were three of us so was keen to try it out again. Had only done one like this in Christchurch a few years back.
**EDIT: Saw Seagnoid's log - so there is an alternative site that can be used now! Just bumping this up [www.geotrailsw.com/mob](http://www.geotrailsw.com/mob)**
Well, the mob of 3 of us solved the puzzle, which, on c:geo, is pre-solved for you, BTW. And then we took on the final. I like to think I have good grip and am quite adept in unscrewing lids, but this nano defeated me and the rest of the team. It's corroded shut or something.
Next finder should come with some pliers or a Leatherman
So, a photo-log with the container.
Kia ora! Paldies!

At night found with "The Puzzlers" mob - Ethness, Itchyfeet2020, The Seagnoid, TwigNZ, YetiNZ. Probs accessing the log, container rusted - blame it on good old Welly wind and lots of fresh salty air. Lots of fun TFTC
A short while back, a few Welly-based (for the most part) cachers decided it would be a good idea to try to pool together the collective knowledge and ideas from a few other locals.
That was a great idea, but as great as it was I don't think we quite realised just how quickly this group would grow into a very social and fun group to be a member of. We have been out on some night gatherings, some FTF chases, and a lot of laughter both online and face to face.
It was in this spirit that a plan was hatched to gather today to have a go at the Wherigo "Operation Kitbag" and a few other caches and AdLabs whilst we were roaming the CBD today. This was one that we were all keen to have a go at, especially as 2 of our party were able to instruct the rest on a different hosting site which enabled the MobCache to work as it was intended. No issues getting 3 of us to register at the posted co-ords and we soon had a set of co-ords to head off to.
Once at GZ, I found the cache quickly, but try as we might none of us could get the lid off the cache. It appears to be quite seized. So we took photos of the cache as proof of the find. Thanks for setting this cache up and the learning opportunity it offered us.
A few months ago a bunch of us got together as an online geocache puzzle solving ggroup. And while that's cool, and we have some ggreat sessions online, it turns out that we are an even better group as a in person geocahers, out on a ramble wherever it is that geocachers go. As some of the group are fairly new to geocacing I had suggested we do a wherigo, Operation Kitbag (especially as I had failed to find the final last time I tried) and then after an adlab at Pukeahu, come down herre to do a classic mob cache.
Alas the mobcache site is no longer operating, and I know that the CO has provided the final coordinates, but I had found an alternate site, so we did this cache that way it was meant to be done, a great way to show our less experienced memebers a unusual cache. So we gathered at the published coordinates and pointed our browsers to [www.geotrailsw.com/mob](www.geotrailsw.com/mob) and sudddenly we had four out of three required in the zone! Woohoo! Copied the coordinates, confirmed that matched the final as given in the cache description (just in case it had been moved, and we all went for a short walk. TwigNZ was slightly faster than the rest of us and had the cache in hand as we arrived. But despite the three blokes in the team trying to be all manly we failed to open it. Need a couple of pliers to get the thing open The three of us all had very sore fingers with serious dents in them after getting nowhere here.
I always want to do a large mob cache - like trying to squeeze 15 into the zone. It would be so much fun, but alas would be so hard to get 14 other people after the first couple of finds. Just would not be practical.

For our last full day of caching around Wellington we came into the city to find a mixture of solved puzzles, virtuals, ad labs and trads - 36 in total.
We managed to get a parking spot near Waitangi Park, and took a wander around the area, with many people out in the park enjoying the sunshine today. We were happy to make the find of this Mobcache today, thanks.

Was eyeing this one for a while now. Had to do a bit of trickery with multiple devices available at home, but it worked Quick find from there! TFTC!
I had trouble here last time but luckily today I had the place to myself so I could undertake a decent search. Frustratingly I found the nano where I’d previously looked (obviously not well enough!). TFTC
Third time lucky for us. GZ is a popular spot. This time we had a feeling that the cold, gloomy, windy day may work in our favour and so it proved as we got to the spot to find it deserted. A quick find followed. TFTC
Today was one to remember how lucky I am to have lived in a time period when I have been able to engage in activities such as geocaching when men of earlier generations had to endure the horrors of war. After attending a dawn service, I drove into Wellington to attempt this cache which had been on my agenda for quite some time. I never did get around to creating a mob and I only recently noticed the nature of this cache had changed.
While I wasn't expecting any trouble, I was surprised just how quickly I did get my hands on the cache. TFTC, boxhill.

What does one do when in Wellington without a plan? Let their shoes lead them forward. Today my shoes decided to lead me to a few geocaches, so who am I to argue? I opted to solve the puzzle as I was here on my lonesome, didn't take long for a veteran puzzler. In the spirit of the cache, though, I did visit the posted coordinates. I enjoyed the walk from there to the final cache - somewhere I'd been before, but idly rather than caching at the same time. No dramas at GZ as it was very much downtime for that spot at that time. Cheers!
I had tried for this cache a bit earlier in the day, but there were muggles around in all the obvious places.
After resting up in the hotel for a bit, I went for another walk as the sun was setting. This time there were a few muggles around, but they quickly moved on. After a short search I had the cache in hand. Lovely spot. Thanks for the cache #1187

#1326. I had looked at this MobCache a number of times, but never got around to doing anything about it. This morning I had another look at it, and hey, now I see it’s just a normal Mystery, which didn’t take too long to sort out.
As I was in the vicinity with a few spare minutes, I took the opportunity to nip down the appropriate street in a very strong wind to locate the cache. Of course it was in the last of the relatively obvious places that I looked at, but very logically hidden.
Tftc boxhill, and Merry Christmas!

A nice quick find thanks. Spotted the hint on the cache page so the coords were good to go. A nice spot at GZ.
Ms_KR and I are on our annual pilgrimage to Auckland for a family Christmas, Today we cruised around Wellington.
Thanks to all CO's for publishing and maintaining their caches. Cheers.

I'll admit to having neither the means nor inclination to do this cache as originally intended but since the alternative method has been left in place I had no qualms about finding the final that way. I think I'd been here a while ago but made no attempt to search because of muggles but on a windy drizzly day like today that wasn't a problem. I probably wouldn't have found this without the hint but with it I figured there was one most likely location and indeed put my hand straight on it. Nice. I took extra care not to lose anything in the wind and it was nice to sign one of these that wasn't chock full for a change. I'm not entirely sure why this needs to be a nano when a micro would hide in the same place just fine but, hey, I still found it quickly so no big deal. TFTC.
Checking remaining caches in CBD, realised that I no longer had to corral multiple geo-mates to solve this one. Bit of a hunt at GZ, but how many hiding spots can there be? All good. Tftc!
Out for a pleasant walk on an early morning, picking up a couple of solved geocaches before our flight to Queenstown later in the day. Solved this one from the available information on hand. A lengthy hunt at GZ, but only a certain few places that this could be judging by the hint. All good here, TFTPC!
I am working in Wellington for two weeks, and had gleaned the necessary information to solve this prior to heading down. Came for a wander along here after work today. Lovely views even after dark, but took me a minute or two to spot this nicely hidden cache back in the first place I had looked, TFTC
I had skipped past this cache in the past as I tend to cache along, however I looked at it again recently and noticed that it was now solvable alone, so I did. Visited the final location today for a quick find, all safe and dry. TFTC
It was a nice and varied day in Wellington.
I explored the city on foot and visited Tradis, Mysteries and Virtual Caches.
Many cans I could find well with the hints, unfortunately not all of them.
This one was found and I was able to register in the LB.
Thanks for this cache and many greetings from Pöni.

Found with aeshna_uk, with the assistance of a non-cacher to make up the numbers! Once we had to coordinates we headed over to GZ which we had visited previously. Lots of muggles but they were preoccupied so we were able to quickly find, retrieve, sign and return. Been a while since I did one of this type of cache; FP awarded. TFTC!
Was tripping round this area today - it's been a long, long time since i was last in Wellington so I did an afternoon at Te Papa and collected surrounding caches afterwards. Hope it's ok to log as I took the opportunity while on a solo trip since the page mentioned it was down. These are cool caches though!
TFTC, but let me know if it's not ok

Together with TEMBO! I had a really interesting geocaching-trip today. We could find some geocaches, met some locals and had a great talk to them.
Concerning this geocache I want to say thanks because we had much fun in searching and finding this geocache! The cache made our trip even more interesting!

Found during nice work trip in Australia and New Zealand. First day in Wellington. Thank you, greetings from Czech Republic:-)
Second boxhill cache of the day and one I'd wanted to do on the last couple of visits. After we escaped from the Escape Room in the allotted time we decided to head back to the apartment before heading out for some craft beer and a feed. Extended out to this one with the (reluctant) family. Synced my phone and eldest daughter huffed off so go the others in the family to get their phones working. Eventually we got the required numbers and headed off to GZ. Glad it was under that one away from thos recreationists and the cache was signed in position 38. T F T C boxhill, a bonus Unknown cache today form me.
We're here from the Mainland for a weekend visit to windy Wellywood (it wasn't) and arrived on the ferry for a 48 hour whistle-stop tour. It's our youngest daughter's 18th birthday this week which means a trip away to do an escape room adventure, eat out and drink some micro-brewery drinks as well as catch up with another daughter who travelled down to hang out with us. We had digs on Cuba Street and no wheels so Snaks's Pony was the mode of transport and some good foot kms were gained.

I didn't use the mobcache method to get the coordinates; rather I used the alternative backstop method (and I checked with the CO and he was happy with this!) Probably took me ten minutes to find - I searched the likely objects with a combination of sight and touch, and found nothing. I pondered my options, decided to recheck where I had already searched, and found it immediately - it had blended into the shadows which is why I'd missed it the first time. Another fun Boxhill cache - thanks!
Was an exciting hunt with 1% battery left when trying to all get in the circle. But made it!
Found this after getting coords some time ago. Not where we thought it was but was able to widen the search area and it was soon in hand. TFTC
Well, Talla64 and I had 45 minutes to kill before a dinner engagement, so with co-ords in hand, and feeling confident (always a mistake) we came to find this one. The area was full of muggles, so the first 15 minutes was spent enjoying the beautiful scenery and waiting it out. Muggles depart, we then spent far too long searching for what is really quite an easy hide - if you look in the right place! Next, a ridiculous amount of time trying to get the log book out. Finally succeeded - oops, I've signed on the wrong side of the log. Log signed as FD&T64. Thanks for an interesting cache Boxhill. And a bonus was it was one of those days when you say "you can't beat Wellington on a good day." Perfect weather. FP awarded.
gps had me in a different spot, but a bit of geosense soon had the cache in hand, log is full, sorry didnt have a spare with me today, tftc
While visiting from Ohio on the *Viking Orion,* I took a bus tour into town and afterwards had plenty of time to walk around finding caches. It's a shame this one is semi-broken, but on the plus side it enabled me to find it as I wouldn't have been able to do so otherwise. Spent quite some time looking at GZ for it and was about to give up when I noticed another spot I hadn't yet checked and found the container there in about 2 seconds.
We included this cache on our walkabout today and came here quite early when it was very quiet. It didn't take too long to get our fingers on the cache and we added our name to the log which is now nearly full.
Headed to the Nation's capital for a Mad Mission with Team_Gaters to visit the MEGA and have a blast hooning around in our rental car. I grabbed TG at 5.30 am to get to the airport and we picked up the car from the airport at 8am. We figured we needed to be back at the depot by 4.30ish. We had a blast we didn't get crazy amounts of caches but we did get heaps of different types and scored the oldest one for TG. We ended up only driving 150km for the day. The weather was good. Caches were fun and bumped into a few cachers on the road.
Was in the neighbourhood and scored the cache.
Thanks for the cache boxhill.

Talking with TheWanglers, an age ago it seems; that if WENZ made Mega we should look at taking a daytrip up from Christchurch to visit.....It did; and as it worked out - we could. So here we are. Early morning flight in, and a late afternoon flight out. A day trip full of fun, caches, dodgy parking...and more fun.
Nice one. Nearby and knew the routine as we've done a few of these MobCaches before. Enough gadgets onhand to make it a quick easy grab of the co-ords and final. Nice one!

Found with 2wombles after the WENZ event before heading to the zoo with family. As I was signing the cache an entire tour group on bikes arrived at the GZ. While they were distracted I managed to relocate the cache to where we had found it. Thanks boxhill for the cache.
Sir Belac, Nanzie and I were nearby and able to get the final coordinates, we ran into some other cachers at the final so our mob got a bit bigger there. Thanks boxhill

This was the seventh day of my twelve day trip to go to the Wellington Mega: The big day of the Mega. Even though there were several Geocaching things to do, I decided to try for eleven types in one day.
We ran into another group here and found this cache together, so we did have a mob.. TFTC.

I’m in the Windy City to attend the Wellington Mega with a few fellow Westies from Auckland. We’re having a great time as we explore the area collecting smileys as we go. Thanks for bringing us here, sorry for the copy and paste logs but am using a Cachly template to log as I go. A shame the link wasn’t working but nevertheless less we managed to find it
Solved this one when it was first published, but didn't have an opportunity to search for the cache.
Today I was nearby and I found the cache after quite a bit of searching.
Thanks.

Found after the near by lab cache.
Sadly there is no large event in New Zealand in 2019 but there are a few Mega events planned in Australia. I plan on going to the OzGeomuster in July. To find out more visit this site: https://www.ozgeomuster.com.au

Found after the near by lab cache.
Sadly there is no large event in New Zealand in 2019 but there are a few Mega events planned in Australia. I plan on going to the OzGeomuster in July. To find out more visit this site: https://www.ozgeomuster.com.au
Thanks for hiding this geocache.
Mega fun on a mega day. In the area collecting a few caches. Cheers for the cache.
With a group of fellow west Aucklanders Merlot58, Aiden29 and Bertie Blowfish To attend the MEGA and for a fun long Labour weekend’s caching. Thanks to all the cache owners for setting up and maintaining the caches. Sorry for cut and paste logs. TRying to complete 11 cache types in one day including this one.
No problems locating the cache today, although as we were signing the cache an entire tour group on bikes arrived at the GZ. While they were distracted we managed to relocate the cache.

A day trip down to the WENZ 2018 Mega event in Upper Hutt from Palmy to both attend the event and attempt to get 11 different types of cache in one day. Also on the cards was a visit/pilgrimage to GC46 and Mr All7ofusNZ had Jr. Cacher #4 along for the ride.
Seeing as we were here for the nearby virtual cache we decided to give this one a go too, especially having paid for the parking. Soon had the coordinates and made a quick find at the final. Another cache type done for the day as an unexpected bonus. Thanks boxhill.

With Merlot & Jag50 - on a beautiful Wellington day - we're in town for the weekend- for the Mega.
Down in the Capital for an extra long weekend before exams start, with Jag50, Merlot58 & Bertie Blowfish. Stopped here to try and get 11 cache types in one day. Were nearby for a virtual so stopped to grab this one.
First day of my Wellington Mega weekend. Starting in the CBD region I headed out to the airport to pick up some wheels then travelled around the coast, to zelandia before ending up at the base of wind turbine looking over this and many other GZ locations.
Months of puzzle solving paid off.
Thank you to the COs for the geocaches.

Unfortunately the link to the required web site seems to be down at present. There are instructions on the page saying what to do as a backup to find the cache.
mrandmrs in town, ahead of the WENZ Mega After a technical hitch the CO turned up to our event and gave a little pointer. Cache quickly in hand and log signed. Stunning views!!!

Found once the CO came along to help when the web URL didn’t work. Cool concept. Thanks for the help & puzzle.
With Daylight Saving starting tonight I thought now was a good as time as any to start my 50-day streak attempt in order to qualify for a challenge. We were out and about today nearby so headed on over. Using a multitude of devices we were able to extract the coordinates and wandered over towards GZ. I had a look around a couple of places but without success, but then I spotted a couple more and I soon had the cache in hand. 1 down, 49 to go! TFTC
