OOOO what do you do on a Sunday. We'd been to our local market for breakfast and then our thoughts turned to what next!? We decided that a quick trip to Huntly to avenge some blue frowns was just in order. Half way down the heavens opened up but do you think a little rain would stop us... NO WAY!Third cache today with the log paper jammed into main part of bison meaning very difficult to extract. Wound up log paper tightly and inserted into lid so next cacher will have much easier tome extracting log.Mrs NZT is the green fingers and didn't this tree was a Pittosporum, Mr NZT is in NO Position to argue so dutifully agreed, we did find a cache though...TFTC

Having stayed in the park area nearby last night, rattll and I went for a walk this morning to pick up this trio of caches. At GZ, I couldn't see any items mentioned in the hint. Instead, we searched everything systematically within 10 metres of GZ. Found at last, lower down than expected. Tftc!

Last year, Team SEAC members went on a road trip down to Cambridge to clear out as many of the caches in that town and its surrounding areas. On the way home from that trip, we stopped off in Huntly to do the night cache. After completing the night cache, we vowed to come back to Huntly and grab as many of the caches in that area as we could. Today was that day. This cache was more memorable for the kittens that we found, or did they find us, than for the cache that we found. Four lovely little black long-haired kittens with the most gorgeous piercing blue eyes. We were debating if they were feral or not, but when there the no mother in sight, we decided that they must have been dumped. After all, this area was a very strange place for such lovely little creatures. They seemed tame enough in that they were okay around humans.Anyway, we found the cache, which was missing a container and was just a log stuck in a tree, and then fed the kittens a little food. Then we decided that we didn't really want to leave these poor creatures, so we organised for someone who rescues cat to come and pick them up. Of course, they were not Geocachers and subsequently learned how to get to any point on this Earth by entering co-ordinates into Google Maps. We later learned that the kittens had been rescued after much searching. The log was signed as Team SEAC in order to preserve log space.TFTC

23-Oct-22
Labour Weekend has historically been a minimum 3 day Team SEAC all out adventure so a little while ago I started planning some fun for us. After a walking day yesterday, today was a driving one and more about the numbers and clearing out an area we have had our eyes on for a while. Ended up being a massive day (left home around 8.30am and got home at 1:40am!)....it wasn't called a Mega Mysterious Weekend for nothing. Enjoyed the fun with friends...just like the 'old' times.

Well the mystery of what we might find next today continues....we found a log sheet only at this location (container seems to be missing as per previous logs) but we also found 4 little kittens!!! I'm more of a dog person than a cat person but they did look tiny and a little out of where they probably should have been for their age.

UncleSam knows people and managed to get them rescued....to be honest there was talk in the cars of returning tomorrow if the rescue people had not managed to locate them. Was kinda funny listening to UncleSam giving GPS coordinates to people who didn't know what to do with them to find the spot!! Maybe they could become cachers in future who knows.

Thanks for the cache

23-Oct-22
In the absence of a MEGA event this Labour Weekend, Keylev had spent some time planning a Mega Mysterious Weekend for members of Team SEAC (a group of cachers from south and east Auckland who often cache together). Today's plan was to head south and find as many caches as we could around the Huntly area. In the group today is HeMaLuDy, Stik-a-Crane, NurseDr, Keylev, UncleSamNZ, Liverkiwi. Logs were sighed SEAC or Team SEAC to save space. It ended up being a long day and a bit - leaving the start point at 9 am and returning home after 1:30 am the following day.
It wasn't just the cache we found here, but also 4 beautiful black fluffy kittens. Thankfully one of the group had contacts with a cat rescue and after quite a few phone calls, a rescuer was found. They travelled down from Bombay later in the evening and successfully rescued them all. They sent through photos of them rescues, and we have had another updated photo a week later. So happy they were rescued.

23-Oct-22
Day 2 of our Labour weekend caching mission, and also happens to be a significant day for me yearly...... Our group decided to head down Huntly way for a good variety of cache types and then head inland and back up to Auckland.....some of use a little jaded from the impromptu high elevation gain hike yesterday, we eased ourselves into search mode.....

Signed is as SEAC to save logbook space and allowing us more time to enjoy the area which surprised us as to how many scenic places are hiding in Huntly....

Thanks to all the CO's for hiding and maintaining caches here.....and to mother nature for the awesome weather we had......

Whilst signing the log, I heard the familiar sound of young kittens, and soon spotted 4 x approx . 1 month olds sunning themselves on the edge of the long grass...luckily for them, some of the group love cats, and made arrangements for them to be collected and potentially rehomed.....hopefully saving some of or native wildlife....

TFTC.

Out for a day long labour weekend adventure. Outer wrapper of cache missing. Log only as per hint.

23-Oct-22
While there we also found some abandoned kittens. I called a cat lady (she rescues cats and rehomes them) I know in Auckland to see if she knew of any local cat people. She was able to find someone and they found the 4 kittens at 10pm and will look after them. I wish I could have taken them.

---
Out with Team Seac for another day of adventures. We did a full day of caching on the Saturday with a long hike! And decided to head down to Huntly for the day. I really enjoyed my time around here, and would like to come back again. Some us finished at 10pm, some finished at 1amish!

Sorry for the generic logs. Thank you for taking the time to place this cache.

Out with KeyLev, HeMaLuDy, Stik-a-crane, NZTravellers, LiverKiwi, NurseDr. All logs signed “Team Seac” or similar to save log paper.

Yesterday one of us did a big hike up and over Mt Te Aroha. Today we are making our way home to Auckland after overnighting at our Redbrook property. We want to find a few caches around Huntly first, and this BB Outfall series nicely fits the bill. This was certainly our longest hunt of the day. The position of GZ according to our GPS made several trees possible candidates for the hide. We searched them all, some more than once, before finally spotting the cache on the ground. Signed the log and replaced the cache at a higher elevation. TFTC

23-Mar-19
have finally got all of these ones now, it did take me 3 tries but it pays to never give up, tftc

20-Jan-19
Down from Northland for the weekend along with Lis's Crew and DaffyNZ, with the challenge to get 200+ caches in one day and set some personal records. All logs signed as Team G0LD ( Geocachers 0B8, Lis & Daffy )

After arriving in Hamilton on Friday evening, we grabbed a few caches and then Saturday was the main event. With some good planning and teamwork, we managed 214 caches for the day.

Today was time to head home, but we had to make the trip really worthwhile and get some more on the way. After doing the pickup 52 trail, we carried on north to these ones. Interesting to see the power station up closer. TFTC

20-Jan-19
Nice quick find. TFTC

20-Jan-19
I'm down from Okaihau in the Far North with 0B80B8 and DaffyNZ on a three day caching mission. We aimed to get the Kiwi puzzles, the NZ series and The Eyes Have It series in one day. Not a feat for the faint hearted geocacher.

We arrived in Hamilton on Friday evening grabbed a few caches and had dinner in the lovely Hamilton gardens. We then set off to grab a few more caches.

On Saturday with careful planning we managed to get a massive 214 caches. We worked really well as Team GOLD and had a great day.

Today we're heading home caching along the way. We just finished the 52 pick up cards. series. I have always seen this power station from the other side so I was keen to see it from this side of the river. It's so huge. The cache was another quick find, thanks Smile

No luck with this one looked high and low so will come back later as got hungry with all the looking so went for lunch instead haha

26-Sep-18
Out and about enjoying a drive in the country after work this afternoon. It may be a blustery Spring day but that wasn't going to stop me collecting a number of finds along the way. I am on my way back home now. But not before I complete this set of hides. After finding BB02 it was off to number 03. I parked up by the grassy trail and followed it into the reserve. Good coordinates meant I was soon at GZ where the cache was found after a brief search. Cheers for the cache placement!

25-Sep-18
Great hide

Out for a day's caching with Team BOPnJam. What? there are lakes in Huntley!!!!
We went for a wander around the lakes and the rest of Huntley and found what we could find, only a couple of DNF's for the day, pretty happy and not so late night.

08-Jul-18
Another big trip planned this time in an effort to obtain all the Hidden Creature Souvenirs. Team BOP (Davidson clan, McJandals, Frogybecaching, TNXPro & myself) joined with a couple of Westies (Jag50&Merlot58) to fill up the van and clear Huntly off the caching map Smile We signed the logs as BOPnJAM for expedience and to save on log space.

Cache found quickly and in good condition thanks to accurate coords and a straight forward placement. Cheers eyespyben, TFTC.

A crew from BOP and Jag50 and I teamed up to become BOPnJam and hit Huntly to get numbers for the Hidden Creatures souvenirs. The weather played nice for us and we had a pretty successful day with only a couple of dnfs. This fortunately was not one of them as it was another quick find

08-Jul-18
We joined up with a team from the BOP and Merlot58 to collect caches for the Hidden Creature souvenirs. Signed the logs as BOPnJAM to save room on the log. Thanks to the hint this cache was quickly spotted.

08-Jul-18

08-Jul-18
With Hidden Creature souvenirs up for grabs. A plan was hatched with our Westie buddies. We were all ready for a stormy rainy day but the weather gods were good to us today with no rain until getting home at 10pm. A fun day was had by all and many thanks To all the COs for giving us a reason to come here. We had a nice mixture of cache containers, types, DTs and hides. We signed as BOPnJAM to save room on the logs. Please excuse my cut and paste logs in advance due to numbers. Cheers

#5019. Had a short but enjoyable stay in Auckland. Now its time to head home to Wellington for Christmas. But first another mission. My DGSC bulk find challenge concludes on Boxing Day and by then I will be trying to find up to 200 caches to bring up 1500 qualifying finds this year. So have three full on days of caching ahead of me before I get back home. Today I am tackling some Waikato power trails and staying overnight in Te Aroha so I can visit the old timer cache 101 tomorrow morning. Slowly heading further south. Nice roadside reserve here and the grass was freshly cut. Was wondering about the hint object as all the rest were different types of trees. Suddenly there it was in front of me. A quick find. Signed and returned as found. Thanks for the cache eyespyben.

10-Dec-17

Headed south today to take advantage of the weather. An enjoyable day picking up a few caches in the Rangiriri/Huntly area. We crossed paths with a man walking his dogs on the way to this cache. He seemed ok and not like the people mentioned in previous logs. Once we got to GZ the hint made perfect sense and the cache was quickly located - TFTC! Big Grin

30-Jul-17
Our initial plan was to collect some lake caches today but changed our minds when we saw the water level and went for a nice country road drive instead. Teen was very happy to get some more driving practice & I was happy to have a chauffeur, so everyone was a winner on the day haha. Very relieved to find the area empty of dogs and people today after my last visit here. Cache nicely camo'd but didn't take too long to spot. Thanks for the well done hide.

26-Jul-17
Very nicely done. Quick find once I found the right tree. (GPS was bouncing around). T4tc

16-Jul-17
After being cooped up inside all week with bad weather, sick child and school holidays I had scheduled in today for some 'me time'. I had planned to clean up around Hamilton but after finding a few urban hides I was well and truly over it and decided to head into the country for some peace and quiet and some nice country roads.

After a nice bit of a sunday drive round the country side I decided I better start heading for the direction of home. Decided to come down this side of the river and collect these caches. Not too worried about finding dogs or people but thankfully it was all quiet here today and I could explore this little area uninterrupted. Thanks for the well done hides.

18-May-17
It was a quiet day: no dogs smoking anything. The pollen from these give be terrible hay fever, so I was glad to find this out of season. TFTC.

22-Apr-17
For some reason, I became wary of dogs from the previous comments. But none were seen today, I looked at a few trees before spying something in them, no idea what the hint is getting at, but it didn't matter in the end. Thanks for the cache!

22-Apr-17
log later

27-Mar-17
Got to within about 50 meters of the cache, having walked over from the other two hides, when a barking dog ran right at me. Not bitten thankfully when it lunged (really thought it was going to bite & was yelling at the top of my lungs) but it did scratch me. Belonged to folks in a car who'd driven into the park/reserve to hang out at GZ. They controlled their dog but I decided to leave rather than get closer to the car to look for the cache! Now I see RWIMF may have encountered them too ... please take care/drive on if you see a car at GZ when you visit here.

19-Mar-17
After being a scaredy cat last night, it was time to come back and reattempt this cache - which proved to be far more fun in the early morning light. Parked in the same spot as last night, and peered through the bushes to see if the car was there. As the way was clear I made my way across and tada - there was the cache all nice and safe and sound.

18-Mar-17
This wasn't a did not find, more of a did not go the last 17m to GZ as realised there was a shady car parked at/near GZ and strange smells coming from the muggles inside. So I guess a warning for others - local weed smoking spot if you approach at dusk. I'll come back another day, during sunlight hours...

08-Jan-17
Nicly hidden...TFTC

04-Jan-17
Steed's head start did him no good as we both struggled with getting coords to settle on a destination.
Thanks for the hint which ultimately led me to make the find. Now back to the picnic table for ham and cress sammies and sweetcorn fresh cooked on our trusty camp cooker.

01-Jan-17
News years Day, perfect for a series of driveby and walkbys in the Waikato. With no-one around parking was pretty easy. Thanks.

27-Dec-16
Had time to pick up this little series of 3 before heading to Hamilton. TFTC

20-Dec-16
Managed to finsh work a little early and so it was a case of collecting a few out lying cahes in the north Waikato on the way home. A nice and quick find in the area and then onto the next one.
Good to see the caches replaced in this little area. All quiet here today and better still no muggles to contend with
thank you for placing the cache and contributing to the smilie count.
Merry Christmas

3rd one found after a short search before reading the hint and then zeroing in on the said item.

Head north this afternoon so I thought I'd stop by and find these new caches. The little one had just fallen asleep so I jumped out of the car to grab these caches while CB drove up the road a bit to keep the little one asleep. The GPS had me a few meters out for this one, but picked the likely spot and located the cache. Thanks for the hide.

On a mission to get some north Waikato caches as I could not go fishing (too windy). I now know what pitto is tftc

Had a bit of a head scratch about the first word of the clue, it finally came to me, pitty I can't tell one tree from another. No luck at GZ, but widened search area and soon spotted the tricky hide

Big GrinBig Grin {FTF} With Gap (of Fap and Gap)... After leaving the event nearby, Gap had a job at Maramarua. We decided to clear up any new placements along a big circuit to our destination...

The CO released details about this cache at the 18 @ 18 Event in Taupiri... We have visited this area a few times in our caching journeys. We found the coordinates to be out for our iPhone (Not that iPhones can are reliable)... We widened our search area and found what we were looking for. Many thanks our Huntly friends. TFTC.

8.05pm - (FTF) with Squirrel Nutcase. Been here before when there were tree caches here. Quickly worked out hint but no cache at GZ. Like wise widen our search grid and found cache. SLTFTC
