Back up the Federal and Hume Highways for a few hours today to make a further dent in the Goulburn-region cache collection. A lovely stroll around Governors Hill. Thanks, gazza959!
A last minute decision early morning to head north again for a few hours. A beautiful warm spring day with beautiful green views all around particularly while driving on the highway. Quick find. TFTC gazza959!
Found 16/10/24. This was the easiest cache in the series to find. Cache is still here.
Find# 11461Nice easy find.We added a new ziplok bag and logsheet.TFTC gazza959 5 July 2024
Finalf29 and I went to Goulburn to attend the "Geek Convention" where a friend was selling his book. We had a great time there but afterwards, we went geocaching of course, before heading back home. Thanks to all the COs for making it an enjoyable afternoon.I'm avenging a previous DNF... the log is way too wet to sign so attached a photo. Thanks
Tough walk from the hill hence the T rating up the hill. Quick find at BOT instead of hinted spot. Log is quite wet.
Thanks for the cache.
Thanks for the cache.
1 of the 3Mutineers, KitKataddict12739 (also the 2 geohounds) and myself needed a good walk for our mental wellbeing. I've had my eye on this Governor Hill series for a long time and decided today was the day. Yes it was cold, yes it was windy, yes there was lots of bushbashing and yes we found an occasional track but... we all had an absolutely fantastic day. Thanks for the interesting history and thanks for the caches.
Sadly we just couldn't find this one. Our GPS's were bouncing everywhere and there are signs of recent wood gathering... muggled?

This series was one of my main targets for my trip to Goulburn. I tackled the series on foot, averaging one find every 11 minutes without any great exertion. No dnf's, but did have to go digging for a couple and did utilise an alternative cache provided alongside the original when the original was unserviceable.
My fourth cache in the series - the cache was full of water but the logbook inside it's snap-seal bag was only moist and still usable. I drained out the excess water and replaced as found.

Great day for a road trip and a walk - what fun. Out with Joolay, Kittykatch, Isopeda, Smittengranny, Albida33 and Sol de Lune. Signed as Capital Crunchers today. Tftc
Out with a group from Canberra that included Albida, Smittengranny, Kittykatch, Joolay, Barb2e and Isopead for a few hours caching Goulburn.
After a couple of higher D/T caches, this series was our main aim for the day. All but one cache was found without issue, and the one we didn't find was replaced after checking with the CO. A pleasant walk around the area on a great day weather wise.
Thanks gazza959....

I was in Goulburn today and had 45 minutes to kill, as I was running much too early for where I needed to be next!
Unsure how I would kill that much time, I decided to finally come and put a small dent in this series! I’ve left this series and the one across the road for far too long, the rest of Goulburn has always been cleared out for me! One of the caches I found even had 1 year of unloved even though it was only a 10 minute return walk from the road, I feel like one of the last locals to find it!
I did four of the caches in this series today, before I had to keep on moving. So will still need to return to get the rest!
TFTC, enjoyed the walk through here. Very peaceful and nice easy open bush land to walk through!

Today, Sui_001 and I headed out to Goulburn to clean up the caches in the area. We spent a total of almost 9 hours caching and I enjoyed every minute of it. Sui_001 is one funny guy.
There were some highlights for the day included 10 Lab caches plus 2 bonuses, 1 multi cache, and about 19 Trads for me and about 29 Trads for Sui_001 as we did some caches that I had done before. Not sure exactly how far we drove but it was many hundreds of kilometers. I love geocaching so much and the friends I have made along the way make it all worthwhile. I really enjoyed Loci612 Adventure Lab Cache that was a tour of all the old cemetery's in Goulburn. The bonus cache was great also as it had about 15 trackables in it and as we all know, I love trackables plus it was an ammo can.
Thanks for all the caches and sorry for the generic log for this cache but with more than 40 caches today alone it gets hard to write a different one for each cache. Most caches were found in good order except for two that were missing (replaced for the owners), 1 that was broken and 2 that had very wet logbooks.
I have included one of the Geocaching poems that I have written. I hope that anyone reading it likes it.
Geocache Poem
By DARKSIDEDAN
My endless search goes on and on
Looking for treasures of every kind
Always chasing just one more find
Putting past DNF’s out of my mind
I step out into the world outside,
Seeking what is hidden from me
What size, shape or form will it be?
Only time will tell, I can’t wait to see
Will I find my prize at the end?
I will search in the failing light and cold
Filling with despair having looked everywhere
Where is this thing that gives my life pleasure?
Looking all around from every angle
I read the logs and check the hint
I curse out loud as I walk in circles
Screaming the bloody thing it not there
As time flies by and I fail to see,
Never once stopping to realize
It always been there before my eyes
No need for sorrow, there’s the Geocache.
***** I am currently writing detailed logs because of a challenge provided by Project-GC. "The Author" Badge challenges Geocachers to average one hundred words or more in each log. As of today, my average was less than 160 words per log, which seems close to the 200-word target. However, given that I have found so many GC caches, I have to write many logs with well over 200 words for a long period of time to get my average to the target. Apologies to anyone who finds the logs tedious but it is the only way that I can strive to attain this challenge. After 7500 plus caches (which includes all cache finds up and including yesterday), the average log length is just over 160 words. I am now entertaining the possibility that I might be able to achieve my task before this year ends. Progress has been better than anticipated. *****

This was a weekend of events and epic caches days. It started with a Friday afternoon back road trip to Goulburn to visit 11 Australian Animals series caches and the two events. Saturday started with a fun event celebrating a special day of the year followed by caches targeting DT grid caches. Sunday was another trip to Goulburn where I finally managed to visit the Ridge Road caches above Lake George. In Goulburn along with the two events I did the Graveyard Adventure Labs and the caches associated with that. My weekend finished on Monday with another walk along the Molonglo to get a Where-i-go and an unexpected challenge cache.
Thanks.

We had a most enjoyable day of caching around Goulburn. Sunday is always a great day to do caches in a city. We also ventured out for a bush walk and found the Governors Hill series. Thanks to gazza959 for arranging this cache and adding to our enjoyment of the area.
My family and I travelled down from Brisbane to Vincentia to spend the Christmas period with relatives. With bush fires burning in the surrounding areas, we decided to head off to Canberra on 28th December for New Year in an (ultimately futile) attempt to escape the smoke.
I was due to pick up some geocaching friends from Sydney on 2 January for a planned hike in Kosciusko National Park (ultimately cancelled due to closures by bush fires ), but the smoke was so bad in Canberra today that I headed off a day early in search of some fresher air. On the drive there I was able to stop off here for a visit.
Again I managed to find a safe parking spot off the side of the road and walked over to GZ, passing a pile of fly-tipping rubbish not far from GZ. Cache found safe and well. TFTC

In Goulburn for a couple of days, to pick up a few caches.
Most caches found in good condition, signed and replaced.
Many thanks for placing this cache, gazza959, for us and others to find.

My last visit to Goulburn this cache was on my list, but then I managed to drive past it, but today headed for the Gong Mega, I made the find. Cache and log are good. TFTC gazza959.
I took a break from driving and decided to stretch the legs and go for this cache. I parked and headed to GZ, passing the remains of several kangaroos that were most likely road kill. Once at GZ I soon had CIH. Log signed and all replaced and I walked back to the car. When I was almost there I saw the chrysalis remains of a giant eucalyptus moth. TFTC.
In G Town for this afternoon's CITO so find a few more Goulburn caches with furfaces. TFTC
heading to the Mega had a surprise that we could go earlier so took the Bull by the horns and booked a hotel to make it a two week mega ... also heading to some events that where on the saturday and sunday thanks for the cache
We headed to Goulburn today with Rapidlywild to attend the Giff event. There had been a few new geocaches published since our last assault to this area, so we decided to head up early to find them.
We decided to check a few of these ones out in the late afternoon, after finding a nice access point, after a quick stroll it was a quick find.

Plans were put in place with the ladies of FurfacesLL to head up to Goulburn to attend the GIFF event and clean up the area again. We had a great day with lots of laughs and some adventures in the new geomobile. A wonderful way to spend Rememberence Day (which we stopped at 11am to take a minute silence in respect and we were just down the road from the Rocky Hill War Memorial). We decided to check a couple of these out prior to heading home, would have been alot nicer if it wasnt so hot, will have to return in the winter to finish off the remainder of the series.
Thanks for the cache hide gazza959 and the ladies of FurfacesLL for another great caching day out

Out for a late night cache after work with darkonasdelights and ss3325. Glad to be able to sneak in off the main road to this one, rather than hike the whole way through. Might even be finished the whole series soon.. Who’da thunk it.
Thanks for another little daily. So fun to be caching with newbies. Tftc

A successful day was spent outdoors with the familiar gang. The plan was to clear out Goulburn once again. We practically achieved our goal, by finding 40 caches in 10 hours, with about 7 DNF's. Thanks to all the Cache Owners for maintaining the caches that we found today.
We attempted to start the day with Governors Hill. We took the Eastern trail as far as we could before turning around to get back on the highway to move along to the next access point. Nice easy find here, cheers.

A great day out with friends to seek out some more caches around the Goulburn area. Thanks to all COs for their caches.
After staying a night in goulburn caravan park we decided to go get a couple of cache with cullum68 thanks for the cachel
Found with nissan 65. After spending a night at near by caravan park we decided to collect these ones before heading home for a pm shift today. Great day for it beautiful weather. Thankyou for the cache
I headed to Goulburn today with Joolay and SmittenGranny to grab some caches and attend the GIFF event tonight. Signed as the Capital Crunchers. We thought we would have a go at a couple of this series but found ourselves on the wrong side of the fence - that doesn't stop determined cachers though and we soon had the LBS. TFTC
What a wonderful day I had today. With two incredible geocaching buddies, Kitty Katch and Joolay, we were the Capital Crunches and hit Goulburn armed with the solutions to many puzzles and determination to conquer the Mount Grey series plus some extras. The weather was kind to us at first but by the time we arrived at the top of the Mount (yes Mohamed(s) came to the Mount), it was windy and cold. The views had been spectacular but rather than sit out for our picnic lunch to enjoy them, the weather drove us into the car.
After lunch we did a couple of Governor Hill caches then decided to grab the puzzle caches we had solved. With a few extras thrown in for good luck, we decided to call it a day about 4 pm and headed into town to check into our motels for the night.
A brief rest, then a walk to the Paragon Cafe for dinner where the service was exemplary, and then luckily we caged a lift to the GIFF which was a fantastic evening.
Thanks to the ladies for a fantastic time, to all the COs for placing and maintaining the caches - all of which were found easily and in good condition, to the fellow cachers at the GIFF for adding to the enjoyment of the evening and Sol de Lune for the lift back to my motel saving me quite a walk (yes the legs and feet knew they had covered some distance today.)
I asked Noodles22 If I could go caching with him today. I wasn't expecting a 2 hour drive to the main caching grounds! But at least we stopped along the way a few times (to grab a couple of caches) to break up the journey!
Thanks for the cache.
Thanks for the cache.
I took my little brother out caching today. I thought the area should be easy enough for him to handle without having to resort to boring micros under seats. This area I was in my element, though I did leave the tracks a few times as they didn't always go the way I wanted to. Simple enough. Catapult07 didn't agree! The short grass and scrub I step over are much bigger for him!
Thanks for the cache.
Thanks for the cache.
a quite easter sunday , with all the home work done it was time to catch up with the Roosters in Goulburn and do a few caches
we have to say that a lot of the caches need the coords looked at but we found what we looked for we drove past some , could not reach others (cause legs and backs aint what they used to be [B)]
sadly the trail that was our main target for the trip had so much dumped garbage around it destracted from the beautiful spots we were being taken to so sad that the locals feel the need to dump, especially when the dump is only a smell away
all in all it was a top day out , with 37 caches found in just under 5hrs [^] in which lots were out of the way in the sticks [^]
thanx to roosterman for the day out , we'll have to do it again sometime [^]
thanx to all the cache placers for making our Sunday cheers

Another great weekend away with Hoojar and The Rats. This time it was down towards Canberra with a few caches in between. This was one of many that we managed to tackle. TFTC!
What a great spot for some caches and a history lesson. Found with Justjessie on our Goulburn adventure. TFTC.
When a weekend caching with the boys comes along you grab it by the horns, with kids weekend sport washed out steeba, Hoojar and myself headed south with a goal of completing the Kangaroo power trail in Kowen Forest.
Over 2 days we found 150+ caches, walked through 679 spiderwebs, saw 310 kangaroos, were surprised by 8 deer, patted 1 echidna and stepped over countless fallen, all in the name of fun.
Thanks to all the cache owners who contributed to our weekend and apologises for the generic log, but certainly doesn't detract from the hide or the fun we had.

Another fantastic weekend away with The Rats and Steeba.
We had been trying for some time to get the timing right to head back to the ACT to knock over the Kowen 'Roo series. On our previous attempt, the Forest was closed. We thought the same would happen this weekend, when we realised that we were clashing with the Mont 24, so we came up with Plan B.
However, Steeba came through with the goods, access was granted, and even a Permit to drive and camp in the Forest was obtained... Excellent! So our plans changed at the very last minute, and we were back on for The 'Roo.
We found about 150 caches over the weekend, the three of us, along with Juno my geo-puppy. We walked, cached, talked and generally had an excellent time, as we always do on our caching trips away. We especially walked through some beautiful scrub in Goulburn and Kowen.
Thank you to all of the cache owners that placed caches that we found over the course of our trip. Sorry about the generic logging, I promise it does not reflect my enjoyment of your cache!
Cheers

Well the Governors' Series is a wrap. Thanks Gazza for a grand series and a nice walk. It's a lovely area
My first Goulburn cache for the day. I parked on Sydney Rd across from the cache, and had an easy walk to GZ for a quick find. I went around the caches in an anti clockwise direction. There are lots of tracks about the place, and if you knew where they all went you could follow them, as it was I followed them when they were going the way I wanted to go.
The entire ten caches took me 1h 20min, and I'm an old fart (65) and only moderately fit.

I had the itchin for a few bush caches this morning so jumped in the car and drove to Goulburn to tackle this series along with the Woodland series,I arrived after lunch and had a really enjoyable time strolling around Governors Hill with the roos and wallabies, and finding all the caches,
I deceided I would tackle the series clockwise.
I could hear the roar of engines almost the whole journey from the nearby speedway
Thanks gazza959 for this series !!

Chose today to walk around Governors Hill, to get all the caches, as weather was cool around 20 degrees. Parked on highway near Governor Phillip cache and walked to the rest from there. Found and signed all. Great series. Thanks for the walk and all the caches.
A great day of caching in the highlands and Goulburn. Had lots of puzzles solved in the preparation and was determined to do multi's or any unusual caches as well. Ended up with only 3 dnf for the day and lots of funny and good finds, thanks for putting out all the caches.

12861. Found during a day trip to Goulburn on the last day of my holidays.
I was up this way 4 days ago and whittled down the unfound caches in the area to around 20, so I decided to come up again today to try and clean out Goulburn - at least for while I hope ! I was very lucky to have a guide (or guides) for the Governors Hill series - minniek and her clan meeting me to go for the loop around the 10 caches here. Next find for the day. Continuing on from the last cache we soon arrived at the next in the series. A quick find at GZ. Signed the log, returned the cache, then we headed off to the next one.
Thanks again gazza959 !! Nice little series in a lovely area !

Heading back to Canberra from Sydney today following Xmas festivities. I stopped off in Blacktown on the way through, just to break up the journey before hitting the freeways.
The traffic out of Sydney was quite horrendous today. I guess everyone is leaving Sydney at the same time. I didn't stop again until Goulburn as it was well & truly lunchtime. Following lunch I headed up to the new Governor's Hill mini-series as I'd only recently done the series just over the road. Having walked over the hill, gathering the half-dozen or so caches there, I was a quite hot & sweaty.
I collected a few more caches as I headed back though Goulburn, but rather than the usual route down the Federal Hwy, I chose to head down Braidwood road so I could grab a few more caches down that way.

Despite driving past here countless times, this is the first time I've explored this area. A good (cool) day to do this and easy walking on both trails and cross-country.
One noticeable difference to Mt Gray is the lack of rubbish! This one was found quickly near where I parked.
Thanks,

Thanks,
Before leaving Goulburn we decided to pick up these from this hill. It was allready warming up and the flys we're extremely friendly. We spotted kangaroos and wallabies along the way as well as evidence of junk been dumped. All in all not a bad track with good Coods. TFTC
Easy enough find. Easiest today along here anyway so far. Quickly signed the log and away I was heading back in. No cache guardians here luckily.
Tank engine had none of his famous sticker logs in the log book for this one he must have run out here!
"visited" a few trackables I had onboard today.
Thank Gazza959

Chooo ooo [FTF] on a warm afternoon! Had been out and about all day today, and when I finally arrived home, and checked the cache situation, I noticed these new ones! OK – that’s planned the rest of my afternoon . Jumped into the geomobile and headed off, hoping no one else was going to get there first! Arrived near the first one, and headed off on foot. Poo! What was that smell??? Smelt like I was in the middle of the sewage works! This seemed to be the smell for the entire expedition, but I did manage to sort of get used to it by the end. I’m not sure if it was the smell, or it’s always like this in Goulburn, but there were thousands of flies! They tried to crawl into my nose, mouth and eyes! Grrrr… (Guess who forgot the insect repellent!). Anyways, apart from those minor inconveniences, this was a cool area that I have not been to before! Started at number one, and worked my way through. Got to the Cutler one, and couldn’t find it for nuts! After half an hour I decided to give it a miss. (Couldn’t decide if BOT was base of tree, or base of trig, as GZ was at the trig, but I didn’t want to disassemble it!!) So I finished off the series – nice and easy. Hmmm, only a 200m detour back to the Cutler one – let’s try some more! After a rather significant expansion of my search circle, I finally found the sucker about 30m away! – Cool, at least quicker than coming back again another time. Thanks for the series G959.
