Doing a couple more caches along this part of the trail today, nice quick find here, cheers
Our last day riding the Great Taste Trail from Mapua back to Nelson. A nice quick stop on our bikes and we had located the cache. Some cyclists came at speed from the other direction so one of us had to hug the post so as not to be flattened. TFTC
The vegetation has received a major trim so the cache is not quite so well hidden. Hopefully geocachers will still be the only people who spot it .
Thanks Sidewaze for the update and clear hint! Had no trouble to locate it this time and very happy to change a blue smiley into a yellow smiley! Always nice to ride the coastal trail here!
Coordinates changed from:S 41 18.395 E 173 9.597Coordinates changed to:S 41 18.397 E 173 9.601Distance from original: 22.2 feet or 6.8 meters.Hopefully the cache will be a little more secure here.
General: nice long ride along the Great Taste Trail and Rabbit Island today! Quite windy but also very sunny so we won't complain. Checked some caches left and right along the trail, such a fun combo of riding and caching, thanks to all CO's for placing and maintaining!
Specific: No luck near the fence or in the bushes, not sure where the obvious place could be, but might well have missed it somehow.

Excellent hide Sidewaze! Running out of shade now with the critters to wait in, so a quick sign and a couple more, then home.
Thanks again, great stuff!

I enjoyed a pleasant stroll here this afternoon. No worries finding the cache. TFTC
A nice hide. Thank you Sidewaze for this cache.

Great hide.
A bit of dusk hunting this evening.
Nightfall was certainly chasing us back along the track.

Yesterday Mr & Mrs celebrated 16yrs married and went through here on an e-biking adventure. We thought since it was such a fun spot we’d come back with the cachelettes instead of finding it ourselves.
Took far too long to find but once the description was reread Mr TEF found it quickly.

When the husbands away the wives will play haha - Straight out the door for a Saturdays geocaching adventure with Missnboyz. Easily spotted this one from the path. Replaced in same spot but less visable to muggle eyes. TFTC
RG1972 spotted this one first, from a distance too. Replaced a little bit better covered. Nice container. TFTC Sidewaze.
Out today with RG1972, and we decided to go for a bike ride from Richmond to Rabbit Island, mopping up a few stray caches on the way. It was good weather, and good fun and exercise. Plenty of other people with the same idea (minus the caching bit). Thanks all COs.

Such a great afternoon cycling the trial to Rabbit Island & finding a few caches with Richardinho on the way
I disabled my caches during Level 4 lockdown to encourage everyone to do the right thing. Now we’re moving to Level 3 I’m going to leave the decision to search for a cache or not to each individual. Remember you still need to stay in your bubble and a bit of hand sanitiser before and after handling a cache would be appropriate. Keep yourself and others safe.

One of 10 caches located this morning on a cycle ride part of the way to Rabbit Island. Turned around half-way there mostly because the weather was totally unappealing and threatening to rain! We then drove to Rabbit Island in the afternoon and biked around, picking up more caches there.
Made hard work of finding this one. It eventually turned up in one of the first places we’d looked (or felt), obviously not well enough! The log is almost full. We added another one for future users. #3072. TFTC.

I looked in the place that I might have placed such a hide and lo. there it was! Thanks Sidewaze
Out for a jog along the trail. Quite pleasantly surprised at how many unfound caches I have here, considering the number of times I've been on the trail. I did three of the five caches on this stretch, leaving a few more for next time. This was my last - possibly the trickiest as nothing stood out initially. Then I spotted something that caught my attention, and it turned out to be the nicely camouflaged container. And then I made the connection to the theme. TFTC!
I enjoyed how the cache container fits with the description
Found while on a bike ride, all good.
Found while on a bike ride, all good.
Found in the obvious spot after a long time hunting, just leaving and instinct kicked in. A great hide.
Out for the day with Pomsabroad down the coast track to Rabbit Island. Eighth find of the day
Quick find. Lots of muggles about today but was able to retrieve and replace easily between cyclists riding along the trail. Thanks for the cache
#16046. The third of three caches found on our walk around the estuary. Struggled a bit, bit got there in the end. TFTC.
Found with StreetWalker on day one of our long weekend visit to Nelson.
Not an instant find, despite the cache being hidden in the obvious spot, but SW ferreted it out in the end. Now time to walk back to the car, the wind has got a little colder since we set out. TFTC.

Taybeedragon and I are in Nelson taking some stress off a later trip to Christchurch to hunt for an elusive turtle. I thought this section of the cycle way might be a could place to find the dragon that hopefully will give us some tips to finding that turtle.
Had a bit of trouble finding this so looked up the cache description. Size other? Size other usually means size micro, and when we found it, a micro it indeed is. I still wonder why COs label micros as size other. Oh well. Nice to see the cache fits the theme.

The Seagnoid, Toby and I are off to Nelson to hopefully find some hidden creatures along our way. Im looking for the elusive dragon. Its an early start out of Blenheim just after 6am. Weather forecast is for rain this afternoon so the earlier the better. Its a bike ride along the estuary so Jack and Jill have come along for the ride.
This one kept us puzzled as we searched. The Seagnoid finally snags it. Cheers.
The cache name and description now make sense. Nice one

Another evening walk...Mr geco joined me and we did some coastal walk to grab caches as we went. Another one that took longer than it should...a second look found a well hidden cache. Tftc
The "untoward experience" was due to us! Lying in the mud on the cycleway was a bit of rubbish we thought nothing more off so flicked it aside. Had we been "tidy kiwis" we would have picked it up and taken it home to dispose of properly - and no doubt discovered it's true purpose. On re-reading the logs later that evening, we realised the error of our ways - how embarrassing is that! So, back on our bikes today between showers to scrummage through the undergrowth for our sins and we eventually had the said item in hand. Cleaned it up, signed the log and reported, red-faced, to CO, who was most understanding! Thanks Sidewaze.
I've had reports that this cache might have suffered a rather untoward experience . Back soon.
Track still rough in places for cyclists after the clyclones but being on foot means i have the place to myself this weekday afternoon.
Well suited container, I disturbed some ants in the finding but they'll settle down. Such a nice walk with very little wind. Thanks very much!

I went for a walk along part of the harbour from the Best Island Rd to Lower Queen St. This was the second that I came across. I was certainly Fair Game for the two-wheeled muggles that came roaring along the path.
Cheers for the cache.
Cheers for the cache.
TregearP and I have completed part of this path from the other direction but hadn't got this far. Today we had a couple of hours spare and decided to attack the remaining caches from the other end.
A quick find with all in good order. Signed log and replaced as found.
Thanks for the cache.

Pretty easy one. Mum pointed the likely location straight away. This container is similar to an another I found 2 days ago that I discounted as rubbish(though didn't have the cache in). Find #352
Found with NZDi after a shopping trip to Nelson this morning. I normally don't get a sleep-in on the weekend, but last night when we went to bed there were no plans set to do anything in particular today, so I snuggled up in bed for a rare bit of indulgence. To my horror NZDi got out of bed at 6.15am and made herself some breakfast and came back to bed. I just closed my eyes again and she was up tearing off the covers and saying 'Get up, we're going to Nelson'.
Apparently she had run out of her special hair shampoo which she can only get in Nelson, so our plans for the day were suddenly altered. I barely had time for breakfast and a shower before we were out the door and on our way.
With no fore-warning of the trip, there was no time to make a plan for todays activity so any caching done was going to be on the fly.
After ending our shopping trip in Richmond NZDi asked if I had anywhere sorted to go caching and not realising that was part of her plan today I said 'Give me a minute'. Unlike some, Nelson is still a 'target-rich' environment for me, so it didn't take long for me to discover a string of caches along the Great Taste Trail. After parking at the end of Headingly Lane, we found four caches along the trail then ended with a couple of DNFs.
We then retraced our tracks and repositioned the geomobile to closer to this cache to get the next six. This was our ninth find along the trail today and the previous finder must have replaced it in the right place, because we found it in the first place we looked.

Found a very exposed cache in middle of the walkway. Log signed and put back were we thought it may have originally hidden. Tftc
A quick find while out for a walk with my daughter doing DOC Kiwi Guardian trail.
Thanks for the cache.
Thanks for the cache.
What a cool container not what I expected to find I was looking for something else as compass on phone was putting me in a different place.Tftc Sidewaze
A quick easy find after doing that DOC kiwi guardians find. Now home where it is warm. Many thanks for the cache.
Parked on Best Island Road and made the stroll to game zone. Spotted immediately. Nice hide. Able to claim 515m towards the DGSC distance challenge. Thanks for the cache.
A quick find on an enjoyable afternoon walk along the bike way. An interesting cache container. TFTC Sidewaze
Soon be duck shooting season , so the ducks will find a safer place , they seem to know. TFTC.
Back riding the Great Taste Cycle Trail after a two year absence. Stopped right at GZ, looled down and instantly knew where the cache was.[^] Thanks for the cache Sidewaze.
First cache on our ride from Mapua to Nelson and a nice quick find for us. Reading the cache description I'm glad it's not May. Today all was peaceful. TFTC.
Too nice an afternoon to stop at one cache, and with this one a few metres on from a successful multi find, I opted to walk on.
Lots of cyclists on the trail today but a gap in the traffic allowed me to take a poke at a likely hiding place and the novel, topical hide was soon found.
Thanks

Found on a sunny new years day bike ride from Stoke to Rabbit Island. Quick find today with quite a few birds in residence today.
A seabreeze kept things cool for a bike ride/cache hunt along the cycleway today.
Today's the last day of our daughter's visit to us here from the North Island and her flight back to Wellington is out of Nelson airport so a compulsory trip over the hill was mandated; oh well, thems the breaks! Despite leaving home fairly late at around 0930 I soon had the girls delivered to the Nelson shopping area and was kindly given an hour and a half of caching time which was followed later by 2 hours once I'd moved tem to destination number 2; Richmond Mall. These arrangements suit us all fine, I get to avoid the shops and the girls get to avoid Geocaching (though I think they miss out on more cool sights and sites than I do)!
Having grabbed another cache nearby I headed along to this one. I searched across the path and found a wonderfully constructed cache with a realistic nest and excellent feathers and lifelike looking eyes sat there. Was one of the best birds nest and bird caches ever. Wait, she just flew off!
Headed to the real G Z and looked and retrieved the cache. I too have considered this but been too lazy to implement, nice hide here Sidewaze and T F T C

Decided to take a bike ride out to Rabbit Island and back today. This cache was on the way. I stopped my bike, leaned it up against the fence and checked my GPS. 2M?? Hmm, looked down and spotted an item of interest and there was the cache. I'm afraid the closest I've got to any game is clay pigeons. I think they all survived my efforts to attack them though. TFTC, Biggles.
Now this is a nice touch obviously a keen gun person, very well constructed, great one.
Thanks for the cache Sw.
Thanks for the cache Sw.
Since I was so close it only seemed fitting to find this one as well. All fairly quiet around here today but I know that will not last with the holidays and summer weather upon us. tftc
Yipee! No gale force wind. Some caches were going to be fair game The container wasn't really a surprise. I had all the bits but never made it happen. To say "Beaten at the draw" might be appropriate under the circumstances. A fav. Thank you Sidewaze
