Logs

13-Jul-22
A PB today with most number of DNFs in a single day. At times it felt like COs found random patches of bush, spied a scratchy patch of dead bush nearby, moved to the scratchy patch and randomly threw a cache into it. True story….a lot of caches today had me wondering whether COs get joy out of people logging DNFs. Even finds took up to 40 minutes to find.

This was a welcome find in a never to be repeated day. Safe to assume I won’t be caching Mandurah for a while.

Thanks for the hide.

We stumbled across this one as soon as we got to GZ

Myself and Goose had many plans for the tickets we used for this trip, i cant remember the details but I think it was three canceled Mega's and after the last cancellation we only had so long to use up the tickets and with a little bit of cash added we worked out we could have to a trip to Perth to hunt for some fine looking caches.

A 'shortlist' of 587 caches was put together for the trip albeit with the PQs of the whole state as a backup just in case we wanted to forgo sleep, in the end we found 120ish caches in 4 and a bit days, 60 of which were in the 4WD FOTT Go Bush series.

While we were over we got a chance to go to a GIFF Event and briefly meet a few of you locals, thanks for the chat.

Thanks for the cache.

SSR clambered down to hunt for this one and I was about to follow. I'm not sure if he dislodged it or whether it was three the whole time. We replaced it as close to GZ as we could, as best we could.
Thanks Jackylegs44

With the Wangaratta mega postponed, I suggested to stainless steel rat that perhaps a Perth trip was in order, knowing full well he hadn’t graced the West yet. We used up one of our last airline credits and with a little top up we were set. As usual we had a hit list of high D/Ts, virtuals (although I had done most on previous trips), oldies, large caches and favoured ones. We only scratched the surface but had a blast doing it.
We brought a ladder and pole with us but kayaks were going to be way too much to cope with on a five day whirlwind visit! Thanks to the many CO’s for their hides, maintenance and assistance.

Thanks for the series Jackylegs.
We came on a rainy blustery afternoon which made it a bit challenging at times. We only tackled a few of the series, we will have to come back another day.

** This is a late log **

The caches I am now logging are from a day out caching with urch. We had both been working on the Geowichtel puzzles independently and decided that today was the day to go out there and enjoy a good old natter as we wandered up down the tracks that are now distinctly imprinted in my memory banks, having had numerous occasions to walk them over the past few months.

Since then, many more caches have been found and other geocaching adventures have been enjoyed too, so it is about time that I got down to work on all those outstanding logs, albeit somewhat late.

I appreciate all the effort each of the cache owners has gone through to create and place each and every hide and I do not for one second take it for granted, I just need to get caught up so I can return to my usual style of individualized logs.

No problems finding the cache. Thanks for the puzzle and the smiley Jackylegs44

How lovely to have the double bonus of a caching companion and wonderfully cool, overcast weather to finish off the so far published and solved puzzles in this series.
Luckily I had seen this puzzle elsewhere, so it was a very quick solve.
In my delicate state Wink I stood guard whilst geobuddy scaled the 'cliff' to find the cache, which again was signed and replaced, then on to the next...
Thanks for the puzzle and the great series Jackylegs44.

The grey skies had lightened and the rain abated so we decided on an early morning trip to Dawesville to grab the puzzles solved so far in this series. Arrived at gz and was a bit perplexed as to where to search. Was stymied on this one and ended up PAF to get an indication of where to focus. Tricky hide. Thanks Jackylegs

*FTF* at 10.50am with Kristybelle.
After my epic fail yesterday at finding these caches I decided to come back again today and redeem myself with the geodaughter Kristybelle. Redeem myself I did with 2 FTFS and a STF. Not sure where my mind was yesterday but today it was clearly in the right place lol...
Yesterday I couldn't work out if I could get the cache here but today it didn't seem so dramatic. The geodaughter wasn't keen to get it at first so I decided that ive come all this way so I will get it. After standinding at GZ I couldn't spot it at first so kristybelle joined me and spotted it straight away. I must say I'm very happy to cross this one off my list and I was even happier it was a blank log. I think its worth a fav point as I have finally found this one TFTC Jackylegs44

After the hubby told we he quickly solved this one I decided to drive the 50 kms down here to look for it. I parked at the gate and walked about 400m to get to GZ. I must have spent about 45 minutes searching when I decided to message the CO for a hint where I should be looking. He messaged back quickly that I was in the right spot but when he told me where it was there was no way I could get it so I think I will have to come back when the hubby is home. I do think the terrain rating needs to be higher then the 1.5 as someone that is short like me struggled to find an easy way to get the cache. TFTH Jacklegs44
