In the morning we took a ferry to Devonport and spent half a day there. Very nice area in contrast with the buzzle and huzzle of downton Auckland. We walked along the shoreline to Torpedo Bay and returned walking the streets a litte further from the shore admiring those neat well kept homes along small streets.Quiet street, easy find. TFTC
Im back in Auckland for a few days with family before heading to the Mega in Dunedin. After some grandparent duties this morning, I spent the afternoon caching in Devonport. I found the clever cache quickly, signed the logbook (its full) and took a tb for onward travel. Fp and tftc
Visiting Devonport this afternoon. It is incredible how different the atmosphere is, just 15min from Auckland central. Thanks to all hiders whose cache I visited today ***So cool! Congratulations for the idea I dropped a travel bug here, which I retrieved in Brittany, France.
Used this cache to explain geocaching to a friend. He was very enthusiastic. TB in. TFTC
Found this one at 13:55 while on my walk back into town. A nice quick find of the cleverly constructed cache although it was harder to find a spare spot on the log sheet. Maybe a newie could be the order of the day.TNLNSL, although our BYO pen geocoin had a visit to mark the occasion. Thanks GeoTrioNZ.
I'm now back in NZ, having spent the last couple of months in Europe. Part of that involved leaving my car with friends in Northland (just), and yesterday I met up with them in order to have a catch up as well as get my car back ready for my big drive back down south again this weekend.Today I'm driving back to Auckland, and with no particular timeframe to adhere to I'm making the most of the opportunity to do a little cache maintenance on my own few caches up here, as well as pay a visit to a part of Auckland that I've never actually been to before, Devonport.Making my way towards North Head Reserve, I made a point of stopping by to look for this cache. At GZ there was a trio of folk holding phones and initially I thought they might have been fellow cachers so I started talking to them but it turns out they were simply trying to identify a particular tree nearby. After they left, I made a quick find of the cache. No issues to mention here, and once I'd signed the log the whole lot was replaced just as found. Thanks for setting this one up.
Stopped to go fishing in this suburban street of Devonport. It was too cold to get in the water, so a fish on land was much appreciated. Thanks to the person who came before us and left a little toy compass behind. Miss 10 loved it, and the random cat .
Nice wander around Devonport, collecting smiley faces All good hereNice location, TFTC!

Day 11: North Shore and the CityToday was the day I claimed by 8000th milestone, and what better way to do it than with an elaborate gadget cache to cap it off. We headed off early today to get up to Castor Bay, and it still took almost an hour in the traffic. After that, I went down to Takapuna, while the family headed off for their own things. After that, it was a ferry ride from Devonport into the city to meet up with the wife for the train ride home. A very nice slate of caches again today, I continue to be impressed with what you Auckland cachers come up with in tricky urban environments. Thanks for the inspirations and for keeping the game as fun as it is! (End of the cut and paste bit)This is the specific log for this cache:Straightforward affair here, I didnt think this would be so simple, but it is a nice construction all the same and took quite the effort to make - so I dont want to put a single negative word into this log. Thanks for the gadget caches in the area, really enjoyed the mix of mechanics! TFTC!
**#19,566**Good to get a few fun ones in towards the end of the morning in Devonport, nice one thanks.

In Auckland for business and had a few spare hours to take in some views and grab some caches. Perfect area for both. Awesome cache hiding in plain sight. TFTC
After the ferry from rangitoto yesterday didn't stop here on the way back I decided that today was Devonport. Had a nice coffee, purchased some nice chocolate and got caught in the rain. Ah, I spot a theme. Quickly found as the good people of the world went about their business of mowing lawns and trimming hedges.
what a nice idea - TFTC. Off to the next cache in Devonport, what a lovely spring day!
A new and windy day and got across the bay looking for some more smileys. Thank you for the cache!
A quick find and retrieve! Thought it would be much harder! Grabbed this after completing North Head Adlabs!
Dropped TB I’ve been carrying around… waiting for a big enough cache!

Having found a couple of this type yesterday it didn't take long to find it. Wind tore the log sheet out of my hand so it was a sprint along the street until it got caught in a weed in the gutter. Having a stop off in Auckland on my journey to home in Dunedin.
Found fairly quickly as we had recognised this gadget cache from an earlier find this evening. Very fun
Was in the area today to collect cache numbers and with a few adventure labs nearby, decided upon here for the task......On the bike for faster commuting times between caches.....later on in the afternoon this option really paid off, when the thunder storm hit suddenly.........
Cache is all good, signed in as SAC sometimes to save space in the logbooks........

This style cache does not normally get a favourite from me - I've kinda let the cat out of the bag now haven't I? Yes, its a favourite. This one is big enough for treasure! No treasure in there, alas, but it is big enough, and it is all dry inside. Nice. Found during an after dinner walk to explore Maungauika (North Head).
A flying visit (literally) for work today. My team and I flew to Hamilton, did our work there, then drove to Auckland to be ready for part two the next morning. However everything went faster than expected, the team arrived here earlier than planned, so we all headed to the Naval Museum to fill in some time. From there we walked back to barracks, geocaching along the way. After dinner I went back out again and climbed all over North Head (to use the naval term for the place). What an amazing place!
Next morning I went out yet again and found a few before breakfast. The team headed out for part two of the job and we all flew out about lunchtime. Still, 14 found - not bad! Oh - and three complete adlabs!

Out helping walk the dog. Mr D had it open by the time the rest of us arrived. The Devonport Walkers were impressed!
M24: I was careful enough to get the cache out on the first try. Nice creative cache here, log signed, all is good, FP given. TFTC.
A nice quick find. Another Fav point for the concept. Thanks for placing your cache.
I'm in Auckland and I am exploring the region while I am based here. Today was a good day, I cruised around and about Devonport. The weather was pretty good, and I had a great time.

I'm down in Auckland to pick up my son who's flying home for the holidays tomorrow. I took the chance to come down a day early and pick up some caches.
I had a nice wander around North Head doing the labs and then spent the rest of the day geocaching around Devonport. There were lots of good hides and beautiful views.
A very successful fishing stop here. Thanks for your cool hide

This is just about the only type of fishing I have the time or patience for, and it only took a minute to spot the hiding place and fish out the cache.
While the rest of the whānau were chilling at the in-laws’ I popped out for an hour to attempt some high fav point caches. After skipping the nearby motel due to muggle activity nearby I pulled up here to cast my rod. Incredibly just by getting my equipment out I had already caught a whopper! No further effort required! A handy stroke of luck as it felt quite exposed here. Signed the log and threw it back for the next angler to hunt. I’ll add another fav point to the collection. Thanks for the Syngnathus style cache!
My first visit to NZ and after a few hours of sleep before heading out to discover my surrounding. I decided on doing a few caches which didn't end on a couple. Sadly I didn't take a pen along with myself so took a photo. I also didn't put a log as I logged on phone. I really enjoyed the walk and the views. Some caches were more difficult than others .
Thanks for all the hard work that went into the caches.
Apologies for copy and paste.

Quick find here since I could spot what I had to do as soon as I was walking up to it. TFTC
Very clever hide. Poked a few guards from their homes before hitting the right spot
*** Retrospectively logging finds now Lock-down has spoiled my plan for improving finds to become 10+ find days. ***
Another nice hide here from the local cache-hiders G3NZ, a bit of variety and always interesting. I suspected there was something fishy as I approached GZ and the slippery sucker was soon in hand for signing duties. Thanks for this hide.
When I first started working over on the North Shore, initially for 3 months, then out to 6 months, I identified this target-rich environment as being what would enable me to upgrade my finds per day from single-figure find days (there were about 20 days of 5 or more). I went out over a range of dates and physically made the find, signed the log, and noted the date on my personal note. These were reserved for finds when required, or back-dated finds if not 'required'. I'd been tracking well and improved all days desired until this week when Lock-down meant the end of finding caches and thus the 5-day on 20 Aug will be missed, as will a few others coming up, I suspect.

Man was that a satisfying find I knew as soon as I saw it that it was the one
Out on a day trip to Devonport to find a few caches and see the sights. Managed to find 11 and happy with this. No one around when we went fishing so easy to complete all the details and throw the fish back! Thanks CO for the cache.
I came across this one about 18 months ago and got into the cache and saw some tools that would be required to extract the cache, alas there was a workman's vehicle parked right up that day and no matter how many times I went back that person seemed to go inside and out so gave up on retrieval as to not compromise the cache. Back today and seems like the previous tools and the method of retrieval have changed but now have signed it off so happy day. Thanks for the cache and log is in great nick!
