This cache was actually in the first place we looked and quite exposed. There was rubbish in the area too so I think it sort of blended in with that.
When we replaced it we put some cover in front of it to make it a little more secure.
We've had a few visits to Newcastle but had never been to this area before so had a look around before leaving.
Thanks.

Found on a nice winter day, but very windy. Making an attempt to find enough caches to lock up all the found jewels, Quick find Log signed and caches replaced as found. Thanks For The Cache Samuel737

Had a great explore around the old fortifications with ccarpy. We visited after dark and geokid got a bit creeped out, great fun! Thanks for the little history lesson!
Came at night a couple of weeks back, but it was too scary. Nice one for daytime though! Thanks!
Had time for a quick grab, sign and replace whilst in Newcastle.
Nice hide and history lesson with great views.

We are travelling up from Sydney’s Northern Beaches to Redhead, for a short weekend getaway at the Redhead Beach Holiday Park, and grabbing a few roadside “park & grab” caches enroute. On Sunday we will be attending the Geocaching NSW “Newcastle Expedition - Memorial Park” Event at Stockton, then zigzagging our way back down to Redhead in an attempt to log 7 unique cache types (Event, Traditional, Multi, Mystery, Letterbox, Virtual, and EarthCache) on that same day, and gathering any other conveniently located caches along the way. This was the 15th of 24 finds for the day (day #2), and the 27th of 52 finds for the weekend.
After having trouble finding parking for "Iconic past", due to the mayhem caused by the official opening of the nearby Newcastle Light Rail (Tram) system, it was pleasing to arrive at this one and get a parking spot very close to the cache location.
With a Radar Technician in our geo-family this was an interesting place to visit, given that it was the site of the WWII Shepherds Hill Radar installation. Quickly uncovered the hide and had CIH. TNLNSL, and replaced as found. We then spent a short while wandering around the various building ruins, and taking a few photos, before getting back on the road to our next cache target. Thanks Samuel737 & lee737 for the history & cache.

Found with Gazkersh and littlemisslonglegs while in town for some local events. What an adventure we had finding this cache! We caught the ferry from Stockton and then made our way up to find the cache. Fun find, there was a cute little lizard guarding the cache. Thanks Team 737!
Found with Mum and Dad while in Stockton for the Geocaching NSW events.

Was happy to find this little cache after several DNFs yesterday. Great little spot. Thanks!
TFTC a quick find along our journey. We didn’t have a pen but photographed the log book.
#5538. @12:13.
First (and only) cache in Newcastle. Nice spot and easy find. It was simply bit too hot to cache on this day and the distance between hides was simply to far in the heat.
We are by foot since we are traveling in a motorhome which is a bit clumsy to move around with, so we parked it down by Bar Beach and walked Memorial Walk up here. Quite a challenge in the heat.
Anyway... Thanks for the cache and Greetings from Sweden!

I’m in Newcastle for a couple of days, attended a wedding last night and today was a recovery day.
We spent a short break at the beach. I took a walk around the Nobbys. This cache was a short detour on the way back to the AirBNB. Easy find thanks to the hint.
Interesting to read how long ago this fort area was constructed.
There’s also interesting indigenous story on a board nearby as well.

A quick and easy cache. Much stealth needed, heavy muggle activity. Managed to sign the log and replace the cache without being spotted. TFTC
Came down with kingfisher_au for Earth cache day and decided to grab a few more caches while we were around. Had to wait for a few passing muggles but we managed to keep out of view and return the cache. Thanks for bringing us to this location and for the cache.
down on earthcache day so decided to pick up a few more thx for the cache all safe and sound
Wear gloves among the litter.
Interesting area, which is what I think geocaching should be about. Picked up a Travel Bug.

In town again visiting family, decided to take a nice walk from Hamilton to the beach and all the way around to this cache. Very nice spot! Dropped a pathtag. TFTC
Weren’t expecting it to be down there. Glad they hadn’t blocked it off. Interesting paver work. Tftc tnln
We decided to find this cache today after returning home from Sydney where we found more than a dozen yesterday. After incorrectly writing the co-ordinates down, we eventually ended up at the correct place and began to search. Just like several times yesterday in Sydney, we were left wondering which level the cache was on. After looking in all sorts of unlikely spots, we eventually looked in a very simple one that we had overlooked and there it was. TFTC!
Tried lifting the slabs. Didn't work. Looked under. Found it. While signing some muggles caught is red handed. Detered. Balled on.
Haven’t been too lucky today finding geocaches but this one was a fun and easy find!!
Great day for a school holidays walk along the Newcastle Coastal walk. Quick find in a great spot. TFTC
