#5601 - Doing the loop track today with the geohounds as we test our new hiking boots out that we just purchased in Albury. Nice quick find here as we enjoy the lovely sunshine. The water in the Murray looks quite clear. TFTC Thewins5.
TFTC ??????. The container wedged in and I'm pretty sure the resident spider would not want me to try and remove it.
Out for an evening walk with the kids before the lights show at the botanical gardens tonight. Found a coupled caches before the sun went down.TFTC
A lovely day so we, BettyBoo3747 and I, loaded up the deadly treadlies and set off for Wodonga Gateway Island. Very nice bike tracks.BB spotted this one standing behind me!The container was damaged so we replaced it with a new 200ml sistema (painted black), and a new notebook. Thanks, Robmc.
# 21664. Haven't been caching in quite a while. With a few new ones popping up on the Causeway area and a nice day forecast we loaded up the bikes and headed north. A not entirely successful day with 3 DNF's but we did get a few 2TFs etc along the way.A quick find of the cache and the old one certainly was smashed up. Left a new 200ml Sistema and fresh log book today.Unfortunately the listed trackable that was dropped in on 5th November 2023 had already gone missing by March 2024 and needs to be marked as "Missing".Thanks Thewins5
and_me and I had been to the GeoBash event at Canberra and were on our way home after an overnight stop at Albury. We decided that we should stretch our legs before the big drive so we decided to wander around this trail.A quick find. TFTC.
TFTC.....The "Mighty Murray" was definitely deserving of that title today!! The water level was high, the river gums were majestic in their presence, and I remain forever in love with this river. We even saw a couple of kookaburras and as frilk and I were walking through this pristine location, I found myself singing "the kookaburra sits in the old gum tree, merry king of the bush is he, laugh kookaburra laugh, kookaburra king of the bush is he" Finding and signing the cache seemed insignificant in the presence of such natural beauty and wonder.
Well this cache was, I dont know how to put it heart stopping (especially for one half), an adrenaline rush. Got to within 15m of GZ, went to walk to GZ and holy snapping duck s***, was one small step from treading on an impressive specimen of a red belly black snake . Older half made a quick run up the path, I stood and watched this beautiful creature. Although, I had almost stepped on him/her and the heart was pounding, I couldnt walk away.Lost sight of the snake, and the head was, nope keep walking on and look for next cache and info for the virtual. The heart and the all important smiley face was, no go for it. Get yourself a big stick etc. The heart and smiley face won out. With stick in hand, I made my way to the cache, grabbed it and went back to the path (still not knowing where snake had gone). Container has a badly damaged lid, and needs to be replaced, but log was signed and yes I made the small walk back in to return the cache to its hide. Many thanks for the cache, and the heart stopping moment . No TBs in cache.
Couldnt sign as we dont have a pen with us Container needs maintenance as it is smashed
Albury Invasion trip Day 3. After planning and months of puzzle solving it is finally time to head to Albury Wodonga for a long weekend visit. I was with Kitty Katch, FufacesLL and Joolay for this trip, but I also spent time with Sol de Lune and LuckyL10n due to space in cars. Logs for the weekend were signed CIA23 to save space. We started the day with a walk around the Riverside trail for the virtual and thew caches along the way. The second port of call was the new rail trail caches where a large group wandered along the trail visiting the caches, it is great to see this trail re-populated with caches. The second part of the day was small group caching around the area, visiting a few DNFs and other caches we had missed the day before. As before the effort put into the puzzles and all the caches in the area is really appreciated, and with so much more to do, I am sure I will be back before too long. Thanks for the cache Thewins544932.7 TNLNVisited: World Traveling Gold GC A#6 & 2012 Ninja Star A#231**Albida**
After a pleasant night in sheer luxury, fitzy_1965 and I were up early to take advantage of our free breakfast before joining the rest of the CIA crew for a day of caching before we all went our separate ways.We crossed the river into Victoria to meet at the start of The Crossing Place walk and did the loop before the sun got too hot. The walk itself was quite pleasant and was a good test for my hip which has not been the best of late. We targeted of the OZ trail and whatever else we came across. The logs were primarily signed as CIA (Canberra Invasion Albury) unless otherwise stated.
We joined in on the Canberra Albury Invasion or CAI fun this long weekend. After lots of puzzle solving and planning the time had come for a four day weekend of geocache hunting and hiking in and around the Albury/Wodonga area. We could not have picked a better weekend, we had great weather and avenged a couple of DNF's for us. Apologies for the generic log, thank you to all the cache owners for placing and maintaining the caches in this area, and for giving us a reason to come down the highway and visit this lovely area. Thanks for the hide Thewins5
Chooo ooo [Found] with dty73 and CIA23 cachers on a quick Albury invasion! Thanks Thewins5!
#18963; Day 3 of the Canberra Invasion of Albury 2023 weekend. Our merry band again comprised Sol de lune, albida33, Smittengranny, Kittykatch, Joolay, FurfacesLL, Barb2e, isopeda, dty73, tankengine, aykayem, minniek and fitzy_65 for another day of action today. Started the day with a wander along a part of the Crossing Place Trail, where we managed to locate and log 12 caches, which were again signed CIA23. The long grass aside, it was a pleasant way to kick off the day. Thanks to all of the cache owners for helping make a great weekend for our Canberra caching fraternity. TFTC Thewins5

Day 3 of our Albury trip. Decided to start with the walk along the river. Very pleasant and a lovely cool start.Apologising up front for the generic logs. Cannot complain about the quality and quantity here, it was a great mixture. Some are very challenging hides and some even defeated us and some of those puzzles, just glad it was more than me working on them. Looking forward to coming back. Its a perfect weekend to get out of town. Decided Albury was the place to go. Lots of lovely puzzles that we have spent time as a group working through now its time to venture down and pick up.Signing as CIA-Canberra Invasion of Albury. And apologies for generic logs. Thanks for getting me out and about Thewins5
Day 3 of our Canberra (+3) Invasion of Albury. Starting time and place had been discussed and agreed upon at Kittykatch's Event last night. There was to be a variety of cache types, D/T's and attributes covered to hopefully provide something of interest for everyone participating. All mystery caches had already been solved as a group effort on various zoom sessions before we left home. The day was sunny and hot, but everyone rose to the challenge, and all these caches were found and signed CIA. Thanks to all the COs who placed and maintained these caches. They certainly encourage me to get out and travel.
Found on day 3 of our trip to Albury. Signed as CIA or CIA23 for Canberra Invasion of Albury. Tftc
Signing as CIA (Canberra Invasion of Albury). We came with a whole group of caching friends for a long weekend. In previous weeks we solved a lot of the puzzles, but it was nice to find some trads as well. The weather was glorious. Lots of birds around - though a lot of them Red Wattlebirds. TFTC
Day 3 of the Canberra invasion weekend of Albury. Being ex an Canberran, I headed up to join in the fun of the weekend with LuckyL10n, Albida33, fitzy_1965, minniek, tankengine, dty73, Joolay, KittyKatch, Smittengranny, Isopeda, Barbe2e and FFLL.This morning we started with the loop walk around The Crossing point, including a few nearby caches. All caches were found without any issue, although the grass was long in some area. Logs were signed CIA 23, for Canberra Invasion of Albury 2023.Thanks to all the CO's for the caches...
33,859. Found with Team CIA23 - Canberra Invasion of Albury 2023.Our caching group has been eyeing off the Albury/Wodonga area for quite some time. After many months of hard work we had solved nearly all the area's puzzles, so we set a date and headed on down. CIA23 comprised of minniek, Joolay, Kittykatch, isopeda, barb2e, FurfacesLL, Tankengine, dty73, Sol de lune, LuckyL10n, albida33, Aykayem, smittengranny and myself. For part of one day we were joined by local Cacher Happy Feet 1. What a great weekend of caching with such a fun group of people. An event on the Saturday night also helped make the trip memorable. This was now (my) Day 2 of the trip. Quick find once at GZ. Signed the log as CIA23, replaced the cache as found, then headed off to the next one on our list. Thanks Thewins5 !!
A quick find on the walk back along the river. Thanks. Container a bit cracked but still ok for the log book.
Forgot I needed to bring a new lid for this one- checked and log is gone for this (just place in upside down). Will fix up next visit

While out riding around this new track I decided to collect a couple of caches this morning. This was a nice quick find. The lid of the container is broken but it’s hidey hole protects it from the weather
Found after attending the Rutherglen Mega Event over Easter.

Beautiful spot and a nice easy find. Unfortunately the container has sustained a bit of damage and is no longer watertight but the logbook is still dry.

Enjoying my walk around this location. Loved seeing the random bits of art dotted along the way. Had to pretend I was looking for the local mammal species here whilst some muggles went by before making the quick find of the cache. Nice idea for securing it! TFTC
A bit of a scramble over the dead grass and new growth. Quick find and cache OK
A quick find between picking up two ftfs. Beautiful location here and a quick find! Tftc!!
Track open from one end so I walked to this one. Cache was on ground and hide has been compromised - collected to dry contents (log may not be saveable) and will replace when I check the others in this stretch (on a cooler day than today)
Track is still technically closed and while I was in the area today I didn't have the chance to check this cache.
Will revisit after Christmas to check on the container and do maintenance as required (I suspect this one has been wet).

Now own this cache, but river has been high so can't check. Will be underwater at the moment so will probably need to replace once things get safer.
Claim my adopted out cache as a find so as to not have unnecessary green icons on the map. GL "P"
Taking over this cache from OZREG - thanks for maintaining this for so long Reg.
I will do a maintenance run for all these transferred caches once the Murray River drops a bit lower.
This one will become part of The Crossing Place series in time

An easy find in a gorgeous location. Lots of muggles to watch out for as the new walk track is popular on the weekends.
With the new trail not quite officially open but available to walk/cycle on, I headed down here today to search for a couple of caches.
I journeyed out to No.2 first from the Union Bridge before retracing my steps after.
Perfect day to be visiting this part of Parklands Albury-Wodonga, and I checked out all the wonderful sculptures along the way.
Arrived in the vicinity of GZ on bike and had no trouble locating the hide.
SL at 11.30am. Cache all ok.
A great spot for a cache and hopefully more people will visit here.

Car in getting some repairs done so what better way to spend the time than going for a walk around Albury/Wodonga and collecting a few caches. TFTC Team ozcat. Cache is still in good order after no visits for ten months. Thanks for the walk
Once again a very helpful man from the community garden was able to open some gates for me and thus saved the long walk around the rivers edge... he introduced me to some friendly cows but steered me far away from the big bull and left me too me to my search..
Thoughts came to me as i finished this walk alone at how much better the land could be utilised and thus i was very happy when i ran into some parks workers who informed me the department was in the planning stages of determining the best way to recreationalise the area... they also saved me from the long walk back by pointing out a very short short cut back to the road...
The cache was found, log signed and short cut was taken i was suprised to meet my friend from the community garden back out near my parking spot as he carried a big bag of vegetables... picked especially for me What a great way to end my day of caching!

Took the clever track for this one. I do enjoy a good walk though. Saw some beautiful Gang Gangs on my journey. Beautiful!
I thought I would head out and try to get these this afternoon before it got dark; I got most of the way back before the sun decided to go away for the night.
It was a lovely walk and a good quality hide or two and an impressive sunset. I will say well done on the caches Reg but I'm not to sure on that sunset.

It was a lovely day, and it was only when the geo teen said about going for a ride with his girl friend, that I suggested we all went for a ride down here, along the river. So packed up the bikes and we were off. It was an enjoyable ride along the path. Some times it was well worn and at other places, it was just patches of long grass with no real path but after a few small creek crossings and a few gates to pass through, we arrived at GZ.
We a short search, then expanded our look to a more obvious place a few meters away, where we made this find. We signed log and replaced safely. Then we decided to keep riding to take alook at the old bridge. It was only on our return visit, we found and easier track... Isn't that always the way. Visited some travel bugs.
Thanks OZREG for placing the cache for us to find and doing the maintenance to keep it in play.

Had my eye on these ones for some time and decided today was a great day for a ride. So off I set on my bike. After a nice ride I finally arrived at this one and set about searching for it. After the gps sent me all over the place I put it away and searched all the obvious spots and finally found it.
Quiet a hike out there, but a lovely morning for a walk with Mrs S. Quick find. Some agile moves to negotiate the fences.
Such a great morning for a walk with jorgo_crew.. as per previous logs we found the cache a further 16 metres up river..

As the last finder commented - 500mtrs turns into at least 800 mtrs when you follow the track around the edge of the river. We were mighty glad to rest in the shade of a very large Hakea tree, which turned out to be the home of the cache as well! Yep - about 16 mtrs further on from the posted co-ords according to our GPSr’s today. Once we re-read the description it was an easy find. SL at 2.32pm Lots of action in the River and no doubt a few Christmas parties on the opposite shore. Took: tortoise LN #5045 TFTC OZREG - on the way back we had to give way to a cow taking the same path OUTSIDE her paddock!
500m in a straight line from the last GZ turns into a lot further when you walk around the river. Couldn't cut the paddock as the geohound will chase the cattle. Give up on the GPS at GZ as it is not near it and just look for the described cache. Soon found and signed - TFTC
This one has been on our to-do list since it was published the day after we rode this track to get the first hide. 3km mountain bike ride meandering along the river from where we parked the car on lemke rd to gz. Kids had a ball racing ahead clearing the cobwebs and dodging the cow pats! Found the hide 16m past gz coords. Another great hide. SL & the kids left some small swaps. As we set off back to the car we met some muggles on their bikes who spied us across the river while having coffee. Not realising there was a track over here they set off to explore. A quick introduction to geocaching including giving them the only required tool - a pen - and we left them to ponder their caching name. Look forward to crossing paths at a future cache! Welcome to the great adventure of Geocaching . Thanks for another great hide OZREG - this is exactly why we cache. Favourite for sure.
After locating the dreaded cache it was time to walk back, a decision had to be made to follow the track back to the geocar which was packed at the gate at the beginning of the track or cut across the paddock, spotted the suspended green plastic water tank and the colourful tent in front and the decision was made and off we went across the paddock which cut our walk time considerably.
