Enjoyed a bike ride of a few kilometres along this trail this morning, picking up a total of 12 caches. Had 2 DNFs, although I suspect one of those was actually missing. After clambering down the hill and looking behind a couple of trees and getting a scratch or two in the process, I decided to give this one away! Biked on another 250m or so, then stopped and trawled through earlier logs. Id forgotten to do that earlier! I saw some reference to the low road. Id taken the wrong approach initially. Headed back, took a different route and found the cache reasonably easily! That was my final one on this trail today. #8131. Thanks G-2 for all the hides.
many thanks for the previous log-- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- --French version below-- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- --Short late log but more complete now that we are back home. Our vacation will take us to the other side of the world to the land of the Maoris. After many, many hours of flying, a passage through China on the way there and through the United States of America on the way back, we will finally arrive in Christchurch which will be the starting point of our journey. We will enjoy the beaches of the Pacific Ocean and we will go back towards the North Island via State Highway 1. To combine business with pleasure, we will take regular breaks and small detours according to the caches that seem the most accessible to us.With a little more than 3500 km in 20 days, we will have discovered many facets of this island which is soothing. We will have to come back because there are so many places that we have not done . In broad strokes, the path will go from Christchurch to the Kaikoura Peninsula then towards Picton for the crossing to Wellington.New island, new road, and by State Highway 2 we go towards Hastings and Napier. We will leave the seaside for several days to go to Tongariro and Taupo. We will continue north towards Rotorua and Hamilton (without forgetting a detour via Hobbiton ) A detour to the Coromandel Peninsula and finally the almost north of the island with Whangarei and Waitangi to learn the history of this country. There will only be a few days left to spend towards Auckland and its suburbs before taking the plane back to the grayness of our European autumn. The majority of the boxes will be found, we have abandoned those where our English was lacking and where we could not understand the clue. Thanks to all the owners who brightened up our path, who took us to incredible places (that's also geocaching)In short, we had a great vacation, saw beautiful places that simply ask us to come back. We learned a lot about the history of this country and its traditions, it's a great motivation for our destinations.-- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- --Petit log en retard mais un peu plus complet maintenant que nous sommes rentrs la maison. Found with Cympull. Read previous logs and wasnt quite so difficult for these oldies!! TFC
Thanks for your amazing cache G-2. I really appreciate the time you took to set up and maintain your caches. Found with Fisha1288. Another log replacement. Found the easy way down. Cheers, Cympull.
Accio 11:32:09Staying in Pauanui for the middle week of our New Zealand holiday - with T4mmmy - today it was time to walk this trail. An easy 5kms (each way) amble which took just on 3 hours car back to car. Nice area, calm, quiet beautiful.Well, there are three or perhaps four ways to get to this GZ. We didn't have a boat, so amongst the other options - we took the hardest. Don't do that! But whatever way you try - get here. Such a beautiful spot - unexpectedly with a seat to just soak in the beauty of the river (the 'seaside'!). Found an easier way back to the trail. Thanks G--2 for entertaining me at this location. *{Overall find #11713}*
Found with Pprime` ... what a great walking trail There is an easier way to get here. We didn't use that
What a lovely place to sit and chill. And nice quick find here once we worked out the route to GZ and left the bikes on the track. Log full. Worth a favourite for such a great location. Tftc
Great spot for a bit of fishing. Cycleway very quiet today which is great. Spent a bit of time on the seat enjoying the view.
Found with stairman1. What a pretty little spot. Had a bite to eat while enjoying the serenity.TFTC
Found with goldielover today. What a treat this spot is. Pity I never had any fishing gear with me. Would be a great spot.

Day over from the bach on the Thames coast. We come over for a bike ride and a swim. Interesting bike ride when the tide comes in.
TaurusSix and I are in New Zealand for a three weeks holiday. We love New Zealand and have had lots of wonderful experiences here previously. This time we have decided to focus our attention on three destinations for one week each, all in the North Island. The Coromandel Peninsula, Waiheke Island and The Bay of Isles. We are very mindful of not focusing all our attention of the holiday on geocaching, however it will still play an important part. We are deliberately focusing on caches that involve some walking, great views, interesting attractions , history and general points of interest. And this will all happen in between exploring, swimming , walking, doing touristy things and relaxing .

Day 2 - We are now based for the next little while at Pauanui on the Coromandel Peninsula and we woke up to a glorious sun rise. We are ready for the day ahead and exploring this lovely little town. After a very leisurely breakfast we headed to the beach and river mouth area where we undertook a local Adventure Lab, followed by an interesting multi before taking a beautiful scenic river walk with a trail of caches along the way . Part of the walk was a boardwalk through the mangroves which was quite impressive. We are actually very relieved that there are no snakes in New Zealand , we would not be attempting some of these spots at this time of year in Australia

This is our tenth cache find of the day along with a nearby Adventure Lab. What a cache find this was. Initially saw the gps pointing to the waters edge the we read the description closer and some of the previous logs. Not for the faint hearted but a very rewarding find . On closer inspection you can see where the old track started and then disappeared but the seat is a good one. Thanks for the cache G-2

We're staying in Tairua for a few days break and today we traveled over to Pauanui to ride the cycleway and pick up caches. This provided us with a bit of a conundrum as the ground was very wet so we couldn't walk along the track so we went down a very steep descent which was tricky but we got the cache! TFTC
Sitting at the seat just up the hill looking at the cache page, spotted the likely access, and was rewarded with the find after a short diversion, TFTC
The gps had me a little off the trail, so with a bit of a scout around, I soon spotted where I needed to be.
I left the bike on the edge of the track and worked my way towards gz, where I found the cache tucked away.
Thanks for setting this up

Third time lucky with the hint item, went up first when I assumed the spot, wrong, then down, wrong, then spotted another seat further down so it must be behind that one... yep!

Out this morning for a ride on our bikes.
Parked up on the trail. Looked at the GPS. Yeah, nah. Thought that the seat above the track would be a good spot. The GPS definitely didn’t want us heading in that direction. I then spotted another seat through the trees. They seem to multiply around here. Discovered a wee trail that took me directly to the hide. When we cycled over the hill we saw how the Bunkall family most likely access their seat with no scrambling required. TFTC

I had made a call out to team SEAC to see if anyone wanted to wonder to Pauanui for day outing to grab some caches. Ended up with a swamp of us wanted to go! So on the day itself, we packed up the bikes, picnic food and embarked on this great journey! All logs were signed as "SEAC" to save space.
We planned a Team SEAC outing to the Tangitarori Wetlands Walk and the surrounding area to cache and spend a day enjoying the Pauanui area. We joined Uncle Sam, Keylev, Hemaludy, Stick-a-crane, NurseDr and B4Dawn for the day and completed the bike ride in about 3 hours. After a lunch break we then completed a few more caches around the Pauanui and Tairua. A great day with great friends. TFTC!
A plan was hatched amongst a few of the Team SEAC crew from south and east Auckland to spend the day in Pauanui and surrounding areas to find some caches. This trail was the first target. Mr and Mrs HeMaLuDy decided to walk the trail while the others biked, so they dropped us off at one end for us to get started and then they went to the other end to get started with their bikes.
Mr HeMaLuDy did the honours here. Took a while to work out how to get to GZ, but was a nice quick find once there.

As luck would have it NZTravellers, B4Dawn and I realised that all our other work and social commitments aligned to give us some free time this week so what better way to put this to use then some afternoon / evening / night caching the WHOLE week!!! After 4 weekdays of very long days (work in the morning, then caching all evening) we took a break on friday to get ready for a bigger Saturday to finish the week off. We had many more Team SEAC keen to join this one which we haven't done in a little while with all the lockdowns etc so it was a great day!
Well this one was fun! We pulled over and soon realised what was going to be required here. Mr Stik-a-Crane started to make his way down as we made 'helpful' suggestions ha ha. It didn't take him long at all.
Thanks for the cache.

B4Dawn posted in our group chat of a trip down this way, a beautiful part of the country, to locate some of the local caches....some of us had found some but the majority were unfound by the group....
Thanks to the CO's for placing and maintaining the caches, with the majority in good condition and dry...
On our bikes for this stretch of caches, with 2 of the group walking...
Signed in as "SEAC" to save logbook space.

We found this one as we cycled from Pauanui towards the end of the trail and back again. Not too many muggles on the trail today. A bit of a scramble and bush bash down to gz where it took a couple of circuits to find the cache which was well covered in natural camo. TFTC
Bit of a scramble to get there but worth it, thanks. Heading home now as rain returning. Will be back. Stay safe
What a lovely peaceful spot you found here. Coming from the west I had no problem finding the trail in and after signing the log I sat on the seat for some refreshments before continuing on
Anniversary weekend for Vamber and we decided to stay in a Yurt in Pauanui with the geopup. Lovely early morning walk. TFTC.
Spotted GZ but unable to access due to tide almost at its highest! Maybe another day...
We had to visit the Bunkall Family while ing the vicinity. Found a track that looks possible. Left our calling card. Cheers.
Day 10 - Sunday 27 December - Tairua - up to Whenuakite and back and Pauanui power trail today. What will we find today?.
The Seagnoid, Zara, Toby and I are off on another geocaching escape over Xmas, this time to the mighty Coromandel, then over to Opotiki and stop off at Rotorua to return home on 5 January. Had an fabulous time exploring many wonders of our country. Rounding up over 400 caches along the way, with a few LABS, 20 odd TMGTs, virtuals and lots of interesting earth caches to keep the mind busy. Watching the sun come up on New Years Day at Mt Maunganui was spectacular. Lots of walking and even more driving. But had an awesome time. Thanks to all COs who made this adventure so special.

Finding the bench was a bit of a challenge. Once the dragon found the trail (starts from west of closest point to cache) the rest was easy.
A cove is a bay surrounded by steep sides, like a box canyon. This is not a cove.
Taybeedragon and I went on a tour of the Coromandel - one of the few places of New Zealand, especially of Te ika a Maui, that I have yet to explore throughly, and from there along the coast to Opotiki to see one of my many, many sisters. From 18 December to 5 January we found over 400 caches, including 12 adventure labs (60 caches), 20 or so TMGTs and a host of virtuals and earthcaches. And I hosted an event to see the sun come up on New Year's day - surprisingly popular given that it was at 5am. We climbed a lot of hills, saw some amazing beaches that were quite popular despite (or because of) the insane access to them, walk a lot of bush, entered and explored 8 gold mines and generally had an awesome time. However I am glad to be back, but now is the hard part, and I fear it will take just as long - logging!

Last one for me, I ran back to get the car while the others carried along the trail.
I was about to do something silly. but then read D&J's log. After a few minutes of looking I found a good way to get to the cache. TFTC.
Out and about for a few days for a bit of a road trip around the Coromandel area. Day Four of my road trip. I started my travels in Coromandel Town and ended my day in Tairua. One of the objectives of my trip today was to try to find as many caches along this trail as I could. It would have been nice to have my bike with me but I had to make do with walking the trail on foot which was just fine by me. Apologies for the cut and paste logs. I'll note anything that stood out for me. This was an extra special spot. Once I got to the right level I could see where I needed to go to get to the cache. Found it exactly where it was supposed to be. TFTC, Biggles.
Almost gave up on this one...then extended my search radius...and saw it....AHHHH...awesome. Gets a fav point from me.
Couldn’t find a safe way to GZ and as we still had a fair way to go, we walked on by.
Enjoying this bike trail. After checking out a few trees close to the trail I read some previous logs and realised that I had to venture further afield. Great spotting G-2! Surprised to find seat here. Another favourite added.
In the Coromandel for a couple of days with Team BOP. The top of our list - Whenuakura (Donut) Island is now done and dusted so it's time to see whats left on the map. This was a really interesting GZ where it's just secluded enough that I'd say it's rarely used. The tide was right in so there was a little tip toeing to get here but the cache was found quickly and in good condition thanks to accurate coords, a good hint and a straight forward placement. Cheers G-2, TFTC
Once we worked out how to get to GZ this was a quick find but it did initially have us scratching our heads.
The tide was fully in so it was a little damp underfoot but nice and peaceful.
We wonder how many muggles know about this secluded little spot. TFTC.

We came to Pauanui for a great cycle and geocaching session and we had a really great time. The trail was SO busy with many families out on their bikes too. No parade of folk down here though! Cache is all good. TFTC
We obviously missed the obvious access to this one. At least we didn't do anything silly like climbing down from the track. Will investigate further another time.
Went past GZ and followed nice easy route to GZ - no problems here. Lovely area

Well this was hard case alright. from reading the previous logs, it looked like I had a big scramble down hill from the trail... but wait, what do I see? We're on top of a hill! What if I go down the hill (south direction) and see if I can get to GZ from there! Well... **there's** an idea that worked! Parked the e-bike up, it wasn't able to negotiate **THIS** territory. So walked around, I could see high tide evidence here with all the flotsam, but I got here no worries with dry feet. **THEN** the tree was so more accessible! I took a foto of the old wharf too!
Was up this way for the Leadfoot Festival of Speed and noticed I had a couple more caches this way to clear the area again.
A bit of a scramble down. Was hoping it was easy to find so I didn't leave my bike alone too long. Very easy find. Good condition.
Thanks for bringing me here.

This was a last minute planned trip for just the morning to try and get a few numbers for the latest bl**dy souviner challange by Groundspeak. So as it had been a while since I had been over here I thought that starting along this area and working my way south was an option (also would tidy up the map).
I arrived earlier than anticipated so collected the five at the end of the trail were collected as the light was changing. Quickly grabbed this one then went for a bike ride to collect the resbefore heading South.
Thank you for placing these along here and giving me a reason to stop on by. Next time I come over it will be to shoot up the hill
Another nice little collection by the master "G-2", feels good to be back collecting a few of this CO's, THanks for all your work Glynn.
Thanks for the placement, Thanks for the cache

Day 2 of our Whangamata holiday and on the quest for more caches and some fun winter beach time. Decided today we would head to Pauanui to tackle the cycle trail and a few others.
After finding a safe way to access Gz, I was a bit worried as I approached Gz as the king tide/storms had bought debris right up passed the seat and I worried that the cache was a goner. Luckily found it tucked up safe and sound. My feet are now muddy and wet.

Time to revisit Pauanui. Last time I was here was in the 70's. Also wanted to give my new e-bike another run.
I found a way down to this cache.
Cheers for the cache.

Took me a minute to work out where to go. What a gorgeous spot a real gem. I wonder if it is someones whitebait stand TFTC
Having walked up Mt Pauanui this morning and wanting to stay local to Pauanui today I decided on this trail which I’d been eyeing since arriving on Saturday.
No issues once I’d tiptoed to the GZ. I was certain I was going to get wet feet, but phew, kept dry despite nearly falling off the stepping stones

Another well placed hide. Enjoyed walk here in lashing rain. Area here reminds me my beloved Ireland. Rain was a cherry on top of the cake. Wow nice secret place. Thank you for showing us this place. All good at GZ. FP awarded for all trail here. TFTC
Disturbed 2 cyclists who were sat on the bench enjoying to view so we explained all about geocaching.
Quick easy find, while on holiday for a few days thought May as well do a few caches. Weather is holding off at the moment since its been raining most of.our trip from tauranga. Tftc
2.05pm. We approached this the hard way. Granddaughter volunteered! Soon found it and then we also found the easy way out.
Thank you. David & Noeline with Andrea & Natalia.

3310 This one had me going for quite a while. My GPS wanted me to go where I could not get to. So I tried all the hint items in the area. It was then I noticed that I was in fact in the wrong place. Had to go along the path further so I could get to it. Once there I was able to locate. Sat and enjoyed the view before carrying on. Thanks for the placement.
Yes the cunning old fox .....a sneaky placement here ...I was walking away enjoying the scenery ,and then suddenly I am past it ....what back track and ...oh I see ....glad you keep me on my toes G-2 great placement and great spot for white baiting I guess thanks for the cache
This was sneaky! Couldn't get close enough initially. Spotted evidence of an opossum who met his maker very recently. Then looked harder and spotted the true destination. Great spot. Thanks for bringing us here G-2.
School holidays and we are out with the grand children for a walk and they love to find some caches on the way. Thanks for the cache and something to make our day interesting.
Continued this nice walk today, some great finds and did not try the caches not found 2 days ago. Some are quite challenging and would question the terrain rating. TFTC
Tide was out so no trouble walking down the track to GZ. Cache quickly located here. Log a bit wet but still writeable due to the waterproof paper. TFTC!
#249 at 4.40p.m. This one was trickier, being out of sight of the track, until GBLeader spotted a bench way down near the water, and reading the clues in the cache, we carefully trekked down along Cyclone Cook damage, to get to GZ. Good one! Tftc, G--2.
Nice little spot off the beaten track & a nice quick find to add to the day's tally. Thanks for showing us this location, TFTC
Nice cache. But unfortunately not waterproof. Cache needs maintenance and better water protection.
No way was Mrs pom going down this slope into the water with such a long walk back
Oops - THIS is the one that had a flooded access track, not the previous cache. With the tide up, the views are fantastic. Tftc
I doubt whether I would have ventured down this path other than to find a cache, but what a great spot. Nice camo on the cache too. Thanks very much G--2
11.50am - Large amounts of caching have been on the back burner since the Squirrel had his eye surgery. Cleared to go we have been looking at the Pauanui area for some time now and noted a lot of new caches have been added in the area recently.
Plan made and off we went. Day turned out to be very hot and with lots of water on board we will be okay. Decided to start on the new trail first then look at the others afterwards.
Caches didn't pose to many problems with some easier than others, scrambled up banks, read previous cachers comments to help us find. Then the good camoes etc. We seemed to be the only walkers on track apart from a few cyclist. SLTFTC

With Gap (of Fap and Gap) on a hot, Auckland Anniversary holiday... I am recovering from eye surgery, and haven't been out caching in a while... Today's efforts are going to be testing...
We arrived at the roadside and could already see a group of cyclists. This set the scene for the entire length of track. We were never really alone for any great periods of time; and to make it more challenging, groups would pass us twice travelling in either direction. The most positive aspect really, were the views along the waterway... just beautiful on a sunny, blue sky day. We liked this track and look forward to exploring its extension in the near future.
We spotted a secretive track and decided to snoop around, little realising that we were heading in the right direction for this one. This was a shady, secluded spot with an excellent view of the river. TFTC.

We were never really alone for any great periods of time; and to make it more challenging, groups would pass us twice travelling in either direction. The most positive aspect really, were the views along the waterway... just beautiful on a sunny, blue sky day. We liked this track and look forward to exploring its extension in the near future.

The final day of our mini break to the Coromandels. This one had us fooled initially. We had seen that little track, but continued up the hill regardless. Soon realised the error and retraced our steps. Nice little detour, thanks. Very picturesque here.
I was staying at Tapu on the other side of the hill and it was too windy to go fishing so caching it was
Do I really have to bush bash? Pleased to have in my hand tftc

This one had me pulling my hair out till I reread it and saw what I was missing. Great obscure spot. TFTC
Found with Mc Jandals and Ella went from one FTF to the Next with Ella our finder and returner of the cache thanks for joining me in our search of the hide.

After getting the notification of new hides earlier in the morning, we did not get to the trail until after lunch. A lovely surprise to see a blank log book.
Over shot this one, so walked around the base, which could be a bit of a challenge in winter, with the water! luckily was able to keep my feet dry for this one
Once I got to GZ it was a quick find, aha what is this. Thankfully spotted the side track and returned to the main path, a much easier option, but meant another climb of the hill!

Well, heaps of notifications came through last night, low and behold I was contacted to pick up my grandson who had been staying in Tairua. Got to a parking spot and saw a man opposite mucking around in his car boot. Started looking for an existing cache when he came along, I spotted a GPS in his hand and asked him if he was going for FTF. Haha snapped, nice to meet you Rebel and eventually your wife RustyNZ who started at the other end. A nice quick find here with Ella (my grandaughter) and a Joint FTF, This was another great Camo Job, unfortunately we had to leave the trail at this point as we ran out of time, will def be back. (No.6 for the day) Cheers.
