Djmccullagh I found your cache Stargate SG1 - Merlin on 8/8/2023, 9:35 am. This is my find 5953 and find # 1 today. Thought I’d give this another go after it was found after my DNF. Again searched high and low, was about to PAF when I decided to check something else out. Yep, there it is. Sneaky bugger. Thanks for the cache, mate! TNSLLN

I thought this one was going to be missing, but to my surprise, it wasn't. It was in the first place I looked after having read previous logs. This was my 3rd find for the morning. Outside of the missing lid, the cache is in good condition. TFTC

Looked in all the obvious and not so obvious places…..but, as soon as the Maggies started to swoop decided it was time to abandon ship.

Djmccullagh I didn’t find your cache Stargate SG1 - Merlin on 13/12/2022, 12:23 pm. Checked all along the fence but nothing found.

It's been a couple of weeks since I've been out caching (what with work getting in the way and last weekend being a bit of a washout), so after getting through my weekend chores, a quick dash out for a spot of caching was on the cards.

This one had me searching all over the place for much longer than it should. Kudos to Duppers for the one line in their log which helped me (even though I'd already looked in GZ, just not far enough in).

Thanks!!

This afternoon, after celebrating a one-year birthday party in the morning, I thought I would take the opportunity to visit some of the nearby northern suburbs, which included Murrumba Downs, Petrie, and Joyner. I had a few targeted geocaches on my list, and I closed out my afternoon attempting to defeat a few of the Petrie/Joyner Witches.

I managed to get a cheeky park nearby, and then searching a nearby structure for the hinted item. When various looks didn't yield a cache find, I started to read through the past logs, noting comments of better accuracy of coordinates. I managed to scroll down to Teamtinda's [9/09/2020 find log](https://coord.info/GL12KHPJX) to note their suggested decimal minutes, and that seemed to work a treat; hence I'm promoting S 27° 15.368' E 153° 00.055' as the best GZ. The cache container's lid was missing, but the logbook was in good shape. Thanks Djmccullagh for the cache placement and ongoing maintenance.

Thanks to Fangsoki for the Corrected coords (S + .003, E. - .003), as found in the logs below. I couldn’t see the barrier for the bushes! TFTC.

Pedalling along in the rain and sunshine, weather couldn't make up its mind, enjoying the outdoors with the kids whilst on a 2 day cycle trip. Merlin has become the home to a nest of gorgeous little ants and their eggs. I decided that I didn't want to disturb them so left them in peace. I didn't sign the log. He was a little hard to locate too, as we were looking in all the wrong places. So many likely hidey holes and then I spotted something out of view and decided to take a look and there it was. Glad I snagged a Merlin. TFTC.

Took a little while and with the help of revises coordinates it was located just before another down pour

Today i was super excited to go to look after my grandson and i was early so decided to turn this dnf into a smiley. Last time i rode my bike around here but today i parked not far away and i had already read previous logs so decided to try using last decimals 368. 055 and this worked a treat. I dont know how i didnt find this last time but glad to turn this into a nice yellow smiley then it was on my way to fun with my grandson. Thanks for placing this cache here for us to enjoy.

11-Aug-21
Found using the corrected co-ordinates, thanks Teamtinda...

Out enjoying a day of socially distant caching from Kallangur to Morayfield, and this was my first stop... and only because I took the wrong exit off the freeway...

I parked as close as possible and wandered over reading logs... which was lucky as they mention the corrected co-ordinates... The only issue then was a couple of QR staff enjoying a morning ciggie... After that it was a quick find, sign and replace... TFTC...

07-Jun-21
After previous dnf....read the corrected coords. In a fav geochachers hide. Thanks

22-Apr-21
No luck for me.

28-Mar-21
Wasn’t until we read the previous log and saw the hint to adjust the co-ords slightly and then it was a relatively easy find. Wasn’t til we signed the log we realised Kallangur station was so close yet there was almost no muggle traffic while we were searching. TFTC.

29-Dec-20
Aiming to start the New Year with a nice round 4000 finds, I decided to pull the bike out and head out with La Kedi to collect all the caches along this bikeway. A nice variety of hides, some tricky, some straightforward and an enjoyable morning altogether. After trying a couple of places, I read Temtinda’s suggestion of trying decimals 368/055 which pointed behind me. A nice quick find after that. TFTC Southpaws88

09-Dec-20
I would go with Teamtinda's suggested decimals, but is was the "classic" reference that clinched it for us

Our fifth find today while biking from Petrie to Kippa Ring. So far we were on a roll..
Thanks for the series Djmccullagh

21-Oct-20
Thanks anyway

09-Sep-20
I was in the neighbourhood today and figured I just had enough time to grab this one. I parked around the corner legally and wandered back. Only then did I realise there has been some difficulty experienced by quite a few in finding this one.
I haven’t read all the logs but I must say I’m surprised that despite lots of people questioning the coords, no one has suggested better ones!
So after looking at lots of wrong places, I read some logs and decided to change my approach (literally). Sure enough, the cache turned up in reasonable condition in a classic place. When I then tried to obtain better coords, my phone just wouldn’t play ball and came up with three totally different sets from three attempts, including one set which was exactly the same as those given!
So my best guess is maybe decimals 368/055 for those wanting something different.
TFTC where all is OK.

Eventually found this cache 18 m from the actual GZ.

01-Jun-20
This cache should probably be updated with the coordinates taken from where the cache is rather than from an area that was convenient to stand in.
Numerous DNFs in the logs should be taken as a sign that something is wrong rather than as a badge of pride.

What a beaut outing on a slightly cooler morning, ‘tho it warmed up by the time we returned to base Pedalled around 30 kliks with Beardman75 from Petrie station to Kippa-Ring and back. The trip east was punctuated by Stargates and a few side bites. Pretty sure I was running on Red Bull on the much quicker trip back Logged 21 finds, 6 + 1 bonus DNF Hope to be back on the bike to clean up the map

Ms Maddy and I met up at Petrie Station for a ride to Kippa Ring and some caching along the way. It was overcast and cool when we started at 8am but quite sunny and warm by the time we arrived back at Petrie Station around 1pm. We found 21 caches and unfortunately DNF'd 6 caches but it was a fun morning out and the muffin at the turnaround point was well earned. Thanks for the cache

03-Oct-19
Woohoo another find! TFTC

23-Sep-19
Last one of the day on my short bike ride. I checked a couple of previous logs, and decided to search the area within 10m. Then I was able to spot a place perfect for a cache. TFTC

Once u realize a phone GPS is out by @ least 10 metres & th@ u can't retrieve it unseen if a train is above, it proves a quick find, thank u

Decided to come back and try this one. After focusing on the fence last time I can say that I was just a little off. First place I looked and there it was. TFTC. Clever spot.

Nothing for me for this one. I may be blind though. A sudden throng of schoolchildren had me moving on. TFTH.

24-Apr-19
I searched for up to 20 metres either side of GZ in case of Cache-creep or dodgy coordinations but it was nowhere to be found.
TFTH.

07-Apr-19
Searched for a good 15 mins in the area, but couldn’t see anything remotely magnetic

13-Mar-19
Second visit after having no luck the first time.
I wanted a cache today so after dropping my mum home who lives in MD I dropped by here. I really liked where I looked last time so I tried there first again today and there was the cache, exactly what I was expecting. Train arrived as I was signing the log so had to wait to return it. TFTC not sure why I couldn’t see it last time.

24-Feb-19
Mrs VC decided today was a good day to grab a cache or 16.
Clearing a few as we wend our way back south.
Far too many green dots still in this area! LOL …

Luckily Merlin weaved a little magic here & not only did a parking spot appear (most likely NOT quite legal) but after a short search so did the cache! LOL …
Good work Mrs VC & Merlin! Smile
Made our mark & replaced as found.

Monday. Needing a traditional cache today, we had a couple picked out, but due to various things happening, we went for this cache. I can’t believe how much this area has changed! We first lived in this area about 30 years ago and it is nothing like it was way back when. But back to this cache. My arrow had me, much like other people I saw from previous logs, on the wrong side of the path. A bit of arrow swing here which surprised me. Looking at a few of the larger objects, I had no luck and thought as it was tucked away, I looked in some of the nearby foliage. I thought I found something, but turned out it was a real egg and it was below a real bird nest [xx(]. A PAF to a previous finder and I realised that my sweet spot was about 10m away from where I found the cache. Not sure what happened but ended up needing to use a long stick to retrieve the cache container. Possibly a muggle had watched and seen previous cachers and had a bit of fun. Anyway, eventually got the cache container out and signed the log. I think this cache took me way longer than it needed to have, but that’s part of the caching experience! Razz

This was the only cache found on today's trip.

Thanks ***Djmccullagh***, for showing us this place. Smile

18-Nov-18
We checked several spots before deciding to look at previous logs. Had to laugh when one cacher mentioned that their partner had already checked a certain structure and insisted there was nothing there before they checked it and there it was. Went to the spot that my partner had checked and bingo there it was!

27-Oct-18
It could well be here, but I think it was too well hidden for our eyes today.
Thanks

01-Oct-18
Phone only has accuracy to 10m so I was looking at the big green box Razz great spot to hide where it is tho!!

01-Oct-18
Found @ 1300hrs

Once I arrived at GZ, I soon realised that this area was not suitable for a magnetic cache.

Then I realised I was on the wrong side of the path and after a hop skip and jump, I quickly found the little sucker. Nicely tucked away.

Once the log was signed the cache was replaced exactly as I found it.

Going to have to log a DNF here. Sad face.
Thought I found where it might be and the coords looked good. But alas no cache could be spied
I’ll be back to try again.

25-Jul-18
Merlin was elusive for me today! I have no doubt that he was hiding there somewhere! I will be back.

23-Jul-18
Find #2148 at 17:52.

Merlin the magician must have been hard at work here, phase-shifting the hide. Red Face

I spent too long being distracted by a couple of obvious features a little distant from GZ before I noticed the (nicely naturally camouflaged) real one, at which point I metaphorically kicked myself.

The coords are certainly better than you might first think!

Thanks for the cache, Djmccullagh.

I had not really hunted for this one when I did my run along the train line hunting. The security guard form the station was not very far away having a smoke. You can only lurk for so long before you look suspicious.

Back today in the geomobile with IolantheK. Nice quick find with a previous finder to point the right way. Twisted

Way too many Muggles around.

23-Apr-18
No luck at this one today, spent a while looking before a train full of muggles arrived and I decided to quit before we looked too obvious.

23-Apr-18
We planned to do part of the SG series today ... weather permitting. It had been forecast for rain today and lots of it. Fortunately for us it was a sun shiny day with not a threat in the sky. We started at Petrie and got about half way on the bikes before we decided that was enough for the day. We were really impressed with the cycle way

I had just found a nearby cache rather quickly and with a few within a few paces of the car park I thought I might as well find them while I'm here, the search actually took me past the stroke of midnight and I was determined to find this 'easy'one, after reading the previous logs I continued the hunt , for some reason these always challenge me finally I felt the satisfaction if feeling the familiar container in my hands, signed log and satisfied I've found a cache for this day I restrained myself on going for the other trad nearby for another time..Cheers!

Tried to get this one a while back but no parking available, lots of Muggles, extreme heat and a reluctant searcher. Back today for a quick find, signed log and replaced cache in no time. TFTC

11/2/18, 1:30 pm Find #1444
Out on a solo mission today to clear the caches around Nyssa's area as she couldn't come out to play. I almost didn't see the actual hiding spot of this one, due to natural camouflage, but after trying another area over and over, I discovered this was where I needed to be and made a quick find once I corrected myself.
Thanks for the cache Djmccullagh.

Just like the last cacher before me, I was looking at the wrong thing to begin with. To be honest, the coordinates are so accurate on this one I really didn't have an excuse to make it as hard as I did, but it turned up eventually. TFTC

I have had the caches in this area on my To Do list for some time but they are too far way from home to just duck out and find a few so I have not done any of them until today.

I didn't pick a good day for strolling along concrete paths as it was a scorcher and i had started at 11am.

I had parked at Kallangur Station and caught a train to Mango Hill and worked my way back to Kallangur and then caught another train to Petrie and then walked back to Kallangur. The heat was getting to me by the time I finished.

I had arrived back at Kallangur. I started searching on the wrong side of the path but after coming up empty handed I spotted another hiding spot a bit further away and decided to look there and came up with the cache. I now had to make a decision whether to call it a day or to take the train to Petrie to do the next leg. I must have been mad but I decided to catch the train.

Took a bike ride from Kippa Ring to Petrie, grabbing caches as I went. There were a few DNFs and a few I decided to leave to another time as they were not immediately obvious and the weather looked like it could turn bad. Got on the train in Petrie just as some decent rain hit! TFTCs Djmccullagh. I'll be back to grab the rest.

Earlier in the week when I was riding the bikeway, there was a surveyor set up right next to GZ and I had to cycle on by with a tear in my eye. On the return journey he was still there and my lip started wobbling.

I had to pick up my daughter from work at North Lakes today and left a few minutes earlier to rectify the problem that was keeping me awake at night. Technically it's called insomnia but I have to put some of the blame on this cache.

Last time I rolled by I knew exactly where I wanted to stick it (my hand) and it was killing me. Today it was like a surgical strike. In and out before you can say malpractice suit. tftc
