We are in NP tonight and were staying close by. Our friends have a similar library cache in central Auckland so we know how we would find this one quickly also. One quick search and we knew where to look nearby. Quickly unlocked signed and returned. Fav point from us
Very cool! We did a search at the library catalogue, and found the one item we needed. From that we quickly located the hide, exactly as described, even though I've mostly forgotten how physical libraries work (most of my reading is on ebooks now). I had an educated guess as to what the code was and luckily got it right first time, though it may not have been locked correctly to begin with. Very satisfying - TFTC.
Have to confess we got some help from the library desk to get this one started. Found the correct item, plugged in the first code we thought of (which turned out to be correct). No success, tried a few more ideas and left with still no success. Messaged a friend and realised we may not have paid enough attention on how to open (should've gone to Specsavers!) Back this morning and instant success! A wonderful puzzle, well thought out from start to finish. Thanks dragon gem, another deserved favourite added.
I love libraries and library caches so had to find this when we came to town. Fun! Solved with bsharwood. We are here for Womad. TFTC. Favorite
In town for womad. Today we're doing some caching and labs. This is a fun one. Tomorrow hopefully better weather. Thanks.
I'm slightly peeved with myself. I found this one, but needed some help from no less than five library staff I hasten to add that they all seemed very interested, and keen to help. Some even came to see the cache for themselves.I am no stranger to libraries, but when I typed the search terms into the computer catalogue I misspelt some words. Der! No result, of course. So I rummaged about. My next search terms returned a couple of thousand entries I started go through them, but gave up at about two hundred. That's when I asked Kathleen, who was keen to help but had no more idea than I did. So I asked Rachael ditto, but she suggested I ask at reception where they might be better equipped to help. So, at reception, I asked Mary. Mary went out the back to ask somebody else, then came back and typed in the correct spelling. Voila!Mary came upstairs to help me search at GZ I soon had the cache in hand. While I was signing the log, another lady and a gentleman came to see what was going on.All good. Terrific cache. Another favourite for your collection.
Staying in New Plymouth for a couple of days.We had heard about this cache and we do like a Library cache. This must have been the quickest we have found one like this however as no sooner had we got to the correct level we were looking around and Viv spotted it. Got the code right and log signed This one also now qualifies us for a challenge cache - so two for one FP from us Tim and Viv - ddm
Did the research before we left home. Armed with the most likely place to look discovered the cupboard was bare. Back down the stairs to access the technology and located the information required. Thought the smart elevator would do the business but despite enjoying the ride more steps ensued. Cache discovered, code cracked with no need to resort to using the crowbar or the C4. Log signed and favourite added. T4tcsl
I wasn't sure how easy it would be to find this, but having found a few library caches before I instinctively knew where to look. I think I impressed that it was the right place! Then the extra step that was needed had me a bit perplexed, but my second guess was correct. Nicely done and good work on the library for the assistance they must have given you. Favourite point from me!
Happy New Year, and welcome to 2024.My travels over the first few days of the year took me from Upper Hutt, where I welcomed in the new year, up here to New Plymouth, to see some bands play, via the Wairarapa, cos that's the way I travel. Having had a busy Geocaching month in December, January will be a little lighter and I will be targeting geocaches that I need for specific purposes. This cache was one I found.Well, talk about over thinking it, that took embarrassingly longer to figure out than it should have. I speant close to an hour at the library today, which is possibly longer than the combined total of my library time of the last 20 years. I even got in touch with a previous finder for help and although they were not able to remember the specifics they were able to provide support as I explored a number of incorrect ideas.Oh well. I did get it figured out in the end, and my name is on the log. That's the main thing.---Thanks to dragon gem for placing and maintaining this cache. I enjoy each and every cache I find, and it is only with Geocachers like this creating them and placing them out in the world that this wonderful game continues.[DGSc-Bulk] tagging to help me generate a list for GC30AD8 - DGSc Challenge
Great - we loved to search for this cache. The library is perfect for this rainy Sunday. TFTC
Accio 16:29:52Nearing the end of our fantastic North NZ touring holiday, T4mmmy and I are now heading from south to north for our flight tomorrow. Made it to New Plymouth with enough time to come straight here (thanks for posting opening hours online - made planning the drive from Wellington today easier). Set about 'searching' and missed it first time around, so tried another tack which came up empty. Back to step one and "oh that looks relevant" the dawning moment was beautiful to experience. From there a quick find - and no worries with the last step. Done a few Library caches in my life, this is one of the better ones. Thanks dragon gem for entertaining me at this location. *{Overall find #11862}*
Weekend getaway visiting New Plymouth. Morning wander before hitting the road back home. Nice job here. Used the provided technology to locate the hide. Added some collectables to the container for some of our younger cachers. Fav point given - TFTMystery Cache & geocaching terminology lesson. There were some there we did not recognise.
After bowls today came into to town to. Always nice to find a book that is interesting to open. Thank you for tye placement

With ABCDF4, eyespyben, and Gap (of Fap and Gap)... A planned expedition into the Taranaki region. All logs were signed with our individual handles, or Team HRP (Huntly, Rotorua, Papamoa) depending on who accessed the logbook first...
King's Birthday Saturday: After sorting our accomodation for the weekend, we swung back into caching action with this puzzle. Because of the timing, today would have to be our one and only crack at nailing this puzzle. The library would not open again until Tuesday… We assumed that we had the ‘key’ to the cache. There was just the matter of locating the final. (Mr and Mrs) ABCDF4 did the hard yards and located the cache for our signing pleasure… Thanks dragon gem. TFTP and TFTC.

M25: me and m14 are on Kings Birthday holiday here in New Plymouth, finding caches galore if we can. So why not start here? Entering the library, we kinda had a feeling about where it could have been.
Turns out that wasn't the case, as we spent at least 15 minutes trying to find it.
In the end, we looked at a specific section and bingo! There it is! A nice and fun cache to find while here for the next few days.
Log all good and signed here. FP given.
TFTC.

Found on a grest day after a great meeting with great people and great help. Thanks Library for allowing this cache
We're heading to New Plymouth for an event we had on. Although there's a severe weather warning, that won't stop us from geocaching!
Glad this was inside as it was raining quite hard outside. At first we didn’t know where to start but then thought would would I normally do? A couple minutes later the cache was located and unlocked. This cache gets a FP for creativity.
I wrote in the log and placed the cache back as found. TFTCSL, Thanks dragon gem for this Mystery cache.

This is my fourth geocaching excursion to **beautiful New Zealand**!
Due to Covid [xx(] I had to wait for 3 long years to again return to my beloved Middle-Earth [B)].
This time it's a road trip enduring for 26 days, covering both North- and South-Island.
Today the road led me from Palmerston North via Whanganui to New Plymouth .
There were quite some interesting caches on the route, that wanted to be visited [^].
This geo-treasure contributed to the finds of today. Cool [^]!
I had some help of a very friendly staff-member to locate the book .
Probably we will soon have a new member of the GC-community ...
A big thanks [:X] to the owner dragon gem for hiding and maintaining this cache [^] - and best regards from Germany !

Had to ask for help from staff, my favourite geocache ever TFTC (felt smart unlocking it lol)
Nearly got it all by myself, but didn't read everything, duh.

JALC (=Just another library cache)? No! At first it wasn't clear to me where to search, but in the end everything was very coherent and it was fun. TFTLH.
School holidays so time for a tiki tour to visit friends in Taranaki. Stayed in New Plymouth today and enjoyed a stroll along the seafront. Last night Mrs Rubbishparty put on her thinking cap which made today’s find straight forward. Liked the set up of this cache. Happy to add to the favourites. Thanks for the smiley.
Found with StreetWalkerNZ on our first day in and around New Plymouth. The weather was gorgeous and there were a lot of people out and about.
I had done some prior research, so knew exactly what to look for and where it would be, but being unfamiliar with the layout, it still took us a few minutes to get in the right place. Nicely done. Left a TB. TFTC.

#20969. This hide was as expected, and didn't take long to find. Nicely done! TFTC.
Well this was a wee bit of a mission for us, we had a look around but could not spot it, turns out we were on the wrong level. I ended up asking a young man and he was most helpful, while he wasn't aware of this cache he did all he could to assist us, even taking us to an area which turned out to be the correct area to search. The code was easy to work out and the very cool cache was soon opened.
We are in the North Island to try to complete the PWGT Tahi section so we are having to head to the far north. Along the way we will pick up a few other caches that take our interest such as those with lots of favourites or size large or letterbox caches or some that will just help us to fulfil some of the various challenges we are working on.
With the new souvenir challenge we need to use the app to log the finds, but as I like to waffle on and write my stories on my laptop I am writing these while back at the campervan.
Thank you for placing this cache and thank you for the smiley

Needed an assist for this — first us and then the friendly librarian couldn’t locate. But after she asked a colleague we were soon at the right aisle. Awesome cache, thanks dragon gem!
Loved this cache! The library staff couldn't have been more helpful when we initially failed to locate the cache. Well worth a visit - thanks!
Fantastic cache.

We were in town to pick up something for the farm and managed to pick up a few caches as well.
It's not often we're here at an appropriate time so decide today would be a good day to pick up two library caches we've passed by many times on previous visits. So, after a bit of lunch near by we wandered over.
After a bit of a search in what we thought was the appropriate place and coming up empty handed we had an aha moment and were directed to a different area which soon produced the goods.
This is a very well set up cache. Many thanks for putting it here and to the library for allowing it to be here.
We left a wooden rattll coin

such a fun find!! struggled with finding it for 20 mins sending me around the library none the less fun find! left some treasure and took a pebble Friend
Our walking plans for this weekend have been swapped to art galleries and museums. Figured there was likely to be a cache nearby and was correct! Really enjoyed this cache and soon had it in hand. Thanks for the adventure, gets a fave from us!
Certainly felt like an idiot not finding it the first time when I had been proclaiming the whole way to the cache how good I am at these types of caches haha, got it on the second try!
Took us on a little goose chase covering all floors. What a great library. Eventually found it on our second attempt to search
Found it! Our first mystery cash! Best one yet. Loved the puzzle with it. Really had to think about the description…
Down in Taranaki for an extended weekend and we've struck a wet day today. This morning we managed a few caches around the Huatoki Walkway as it was only drizzling, but now it's raining full on! Thought that it was a good day for the library cache - and the librarian that the previous cacher let into the geocaching secret was very helpful! Great spot, TFTC PS for those who may head northeast at some stage, I have put out a "Little Library" cache - GC8T3A9
Thanks for this, great fun. Another good rec from speedwobbles. Im afraid i shared our little secret with one of the librarians who joined me in the adventure and loved it so much she is going home to look up geocaching and show her kids. She had no idea it was here - oops Love how shes in a library and has to go home to look it up Anyway great fun, thanks so mych for the fantastic cache. Def a fav.

Great cache, cleverly done We managed this smoothly but impressed with each step of the set up! Of course a FP from us too. TFTC
I really loved this one, in a library that I don’t really visit, a bit of research and a hunt around we had the cache in hand, left some swag and took the coin.
Thanks for the cache Dragon
Thanks for the cache Dragon
This was way cool, didn't have a clue where to start. But a search brought up the goods. TFTC
Well that was fun - and a welcome break from the cold wind. Found the necessary and made short work of entry. FP Left some TBs. T4tc
It took a bit of head scratching. Then a catalogue search. Next more head scratching. I took a tb from it. I am on a North Island Figure of Eight tour. For the first 4 days I spend time in the Bay of Plenty with my husband JDScout in Rotorua. Now I am on part two of the eight loop near the end of our loop, driving from New Plymouth to Whanganui. This part is being done with my good friends Ethness and Jude_E.
Thanks dragon gem for creating this hide. It was find 9096 for me.

Ethness, Nosynel and I are on a caching adventure. Second last day and we are heading south. Took us a wee while and I had a case of not seeing what I was seeing. A second look and an aha moment led us to a an area where something looked good. Yes indeed. It was what we were looking for. Inside was a logbook and a TB that Nosynel has taken. Thanks, dragon gem. Brilliant cache.

Oh how I wish I could give this cache ten favourite points because it is absolutely worth it dragon gem. A brilliant cache with a few twists on the way to find it.

Jude_E, NosyNel and I are continuing on our figure of 8 tour of the North Island collecting the ‘Tour’ caches, plus others, plus seeing the scenery, plus having a good old time. TFTC.

I started to read all books around. After 2 years I gave up now and have got a help from the stuff. TFTC
Can't really say I knew every single definition, there are still a few that eludes me. Never heard of EGG for example even though I found a few of these ones. Cool idea for a hide well set up. Fav point from us. TFTC
We always enjoy caches in libraries, big and small, and this one was no exception, so a favourite from us. We almost found it without assistance, but just didn't recognise the unexpected title. With assistance from a librarian, we reached the same point, and immediately recognised the author. The cache was then quickly retrieved and opened. TFTC
I love a good library cache so this one caught my eye. I read through the cache page twice to see if anything jumped out at me in the form of a hint. I did learn a few new things that I will try out in my neck of the planet to see if they catch on like NIHS. Since I was getting nowhere with the cache page it was time to check out the library. The gentleman at the front desk knew about it but was sworn to secrecy no help there. Followed my GPSr to a place in the library that happened to be an antique press painted green searched a bit for something anything no help there. OK I know just try the tried and true sure way to find something in a library the old fashioned way. After a few attempts something jumped out and said Congratulations you have found the cache. Jotted down a few notes then off to make the find. Needed some help there or I might still be wondering around. Once I was in the right zone why sure enough there it was disguised as a book. Opened on the first try with lots of stuff to look at. I do love a good library cache and this one fit the bill. Thanks for a different twist to library caching with lots of geocaching 101 tidbits to try.
Loved this cache! Tried a few combinations before it clicked and I got it! Thanks so much! #58 of 2020
On a weekend trip to New Plymouth to have a look around and see the lights in Pukekura Park so it was a good opportunity to grab a few caches too. Had headed into town to grab some lunch when the weather took a decided turn for the wetter so took the Jr. Cachers to the Puke Ariki Museum. With this cache nearby Mr All7ofusNZ headed over to GZ and soon located a useful tool that provided some interesting information for finding the final. There were a few muggles about so retrieved the cache and extracted the logbook at a quieter location before returning as found. TFTC and a FP from us for a hide that was quite different that any that we have previously found.
#11,650. An interesting visit to King Street in New Plymouth. Managed to find out where to go. Final GZ was fortunately pretty quiet at the time of our visit. Quick find. The cache was in good condition, all nice and dry inside. Took nothing, left nothing, signed log.

#1009. Day 5 of our Taranaki long weekend of caching. After 4 fine days, now it is too wet to do much outside searching, so what better place to cache than here at Puke Ariki? Love these library hides, and this one tops my list so far. Great hide. FP. Not FTF. Didn’t need a TOTT except caching brain.
Previous log was a good assist, but the work still had to be done. Phew!

We walked into town to look for an appropriate wedding card. Since we're close...? Had thr librarians in mind as a fallback, but felt should at least attempt a solve.Went up to non-fiction and put a likely search phrase in the catalogue. And gasped at the literary gem that popped up..! My goodness this was fun. Thank you to the NP library for allowing this... then the others had started browsing so it took a while to get moving on...
Boy did it rain out there while we were in here. Nice cache, took a few looks before it was found in the system and then onto it. Have a FP, probably the best library cache I've found yet.
Up here for an awesome weekend jaunt with TheWanglers, Karma Reprint and Team Gators to do a loop of the mountain in 48 hours grabbing as many caches as we could while having a good laugh. Logs signed as some derivative of (KT)^2
Cheers dragon gem for the cache

A planned geocaching trip to the USA was shelved (but is all go for this time next year!) so we came up with a weekends Plan B. Taranaki with TheWanglers, KarmaReprint and KiwiMoose - logs signed (TK)^2 or a variation of. A really fun trip with the forecast rain and thunder seemingly always in the distance but never hindering us. A really fun weekend.
Day 3 New Plymouth to Christchurch via a few hours in Auckland!
Brilliant thunderstorm shattering the nights sleep. But the day dawned fine. A morning caching in NP before our lunchtime flight to Auckland.
Absolutely started pouring with rain and thunder.....so we decided to head indoors to this cache. Fantastic - nicely done & big ups to the library for letting it be set up. Loved it. Grabbed a drink and snack at the café whilst we waited for the thunderstorm to pass (it might make our AKL flight in a couple hours interesting!)...and got chatting to a local; who seemed excited and interested so KR and TW showed her the library cache. Maybe a convert?

Nice thunderstorm last night. Lucky for us the day started out mostly dry! Find quickly made while it poured down outside. Definite favoutite and big ups to the library for allowing the hide, Cheers
A long weekend cache raid to Taranaki. The weather didn't stop us doing anything, and we had fun times. Logs were signed with a combination of KT and 2 depending one which of did the signing. Thanks Kiwi Moose, Team_Gaters and TheWanglers for a choice time.
Thanks to all CO's for placing and maintaining their caches. Cheers

A plan was hatched for a few of us to head to America for a Mad Mission. With life getting a bit crazy a downsized trip was organised as I had sorted childcare for the cachelets. The big America trip is now set for next year. We asked a member of our crew if we could go to Nelson, Dunedin, Auckland, Wellington, Hastings the answer all came back "I don't have many to find there". We left it to that member to suggest an area. He came up with New Plymouth and a loop around the mountain. That's a go from the rest of us. We sorted puzzles, gpxs, motels and a car and hit the ground running. The forecast was doom, gloom, rain, hail and lightning. Oh well, sounds exciting. We had very little of any of the weather that affected our caching and found we had all overpacked (thank God!).
Day 3: We headed out after an enormous thunderstorm last night to a lovely morning to do a few more around NP before returning the car and head to Auckland for a few hours to do the Crayola series. Our morning in NP was a bit tough due to a few DNFs. The Auckland leg was fantastic we gave the poor wee Yaris a good go cruising around the countryside. We got back to the airport in plenty of time to end up waiting for and hour or so due to the inclement weather around the country.
Brilliantly executed cache. We had a coffee after to wait out the passing rain. Got talking to a lady and showed here the cache. Possibly an new cacher. Fav from me.
Thanks for the cache dragon gem.

This is a very cool cache, as is expected from this C.O. I had a good idea about how to find this so I saved it for an 'emergency' situation such as a rainy dot day when I was in town. Today was that day. After an all day meeting nearby I headed for GZ to get out of the weather, and this cache. Thanks.

Lovely quick find. So nice to have some code explanations. TNLN as was a by chance visit.
Found with Juliusfamily. Logging now as I have my own account. I love libraries and this was a fun cache. TFTC
A bit of lateral thinking and we soon had this one in hand. Thanks for the puzzle and a reason to visit this lovely library. 2 tbs dropped off for further adventures. Have a favourite point!
This afternoon we spent caching in New Plymouth.
After the little library we went to the big library. Great idea to hide a cache. T4tc

Quick visit while out and about in town. Took a second to realize the code but very happy to sign my first library cache once I did. Tftc!
I found this geocache while leading a group of young men who had chosen to go Geocaching for their end of year school camp. We left Hamilton on Tuesday 4th December and drove to Taranaki after plenty of stops along the way where we stayed and returned on Friday 7th. We went for quality over quantity finds and either went for highly favorited caches (many of which I had already visited on previous trips), caches from trusted CO’s and geocaches in interesting locations. The boys had a really positive geocaching experience despite the less than ideal weather and I hope they decide to keep up with their new hobby over the holidays and beyond. A big thank you to those who placed the geocaches we found and for maintaining them.
We spent the morning biking and the afternoon at the aquatic centre then called in here after visiting the museum on our way back to our accommodation. I've never seen so many excited fourteen year old boys in a library before! Really net cache, well executed and an easy fav.

I am down in New Plymouth for the weekend and while I am here I thought it would be good to collect as many geocaches as possible to try and clear some of the map before I leave. Today I am here for the entire day so I thought that I could get as many geocaches found as possible hoping that the rain does start until tonight, it did eventually begin raining and I had to go home but I did manage to found quite a lot of geocaches before so.
I had read through this geocache's description and its logs before coming to New Plymouth thinking that there was a puzzle I needed to solve to get the coordinates. I eventually figured that it was not, I was then able to piece together that it was actually a library geocache, I had never done a library geocache before and I had only seen them on YouTube, so I was a little excited to find out what awaited me with this one. I arrived at the library and put my scooter in my bag before entering. I had figured from the title that the geocache was probably in the non-fiction section, so I kindly asked one of the librarians where the non-fiction section was and I was directed towards it. Once there, I sort out a catalogue computer with a hunch on how I could find the geocache. After going forward with my hunch I was given three results. I quickly glanced at the first one and went off to find it. When I found the book and flicked through it, I was met with nothing. So I then went back to the computer and looked at the other two options, one was a Kathy Reichs book that I knew would be under this search but the other one was weird and suspicious and the author of it made me know for sure that this was what I was looking for. I quickly rushed over to the section I was looking for and began searching for the book. When I found it I pulled it out and instantly noticed that 1. It didn't have real pages and 2. It was making a weird sound like something was inside the book, so I knew that this was definitely the geocache, I sat down at a nearby table and opened the book. I was met with a locked box that need a code, I had instantly knew what it was and was met with it opening on my first attempt. I signed the logbook and dropped in a space invaders trackable. TFTC, this geocache is definitely one of my favourite ones I have ever done, it combined two of my favourite things; geocaching and books. I also loved the moments when you were like "Eureka!!" it was just so fun and the little challenges along the way were amazing but not too hard that they stumped you!!

Fantastic cache. We had a good start but then faltered and had to ask a friendly librarian for help. She pointed us in thr tight direction for a find. Tftc. Fav point for a fun different cache.
I did my research months ago in preparation for this trip, everything except the actual layout inside the library, I was wandering around looking for the section I needed and must have looked lost as a librarian asked if he could help me. I told him the section I was looking for and he clicked that I was a cacher and jokingly said I'm not helping you find the geocache. He said his aunt is a cacher so knows all about it, all he would say was what floor it wasnt on. He left me to it and I found it within a minute in the next isle, he came back later and congratulated me on finding it. A very well constructed cache, thanks so much for it.

Found a wee while ago now but finally get to log it. Very clever and well worth a visit to a lovely spot
I am up in new plymouth for a week visiting my mum in law and of copurse had to pop out to locate a few caches. as soon as i saw where this one was i knew what it was about but what surprised me was where it was not the usually dewey number at all!. it is cleverly crafted and deserves a fav point from me. I needed to ask for a little guidance from the staff for this one.
thank you for this cache and another smiley face along with a nother cache for the souvenir.

#311. On foot in NP so was up for the challenge. Tried the obvious with the obvious result. Tried the not so obvio.... hey, whats that. Congratulations it said and GC101 was soon in hand. Ups for the effort dragon gem. Tftc.
We are visiting New Plymouth from Auckland, and are hoping to collect a bunch of solved puzzle caches.
We enjoy library caches, so were keen to give this one a go. We checked out a few potential places with no luck. At one stage a helpful librarian asked if we needed anything. We told him what we were doing, but he knew nothing about it, although he knew about geocaching. He was interested to find out where it was. We moved on and checked out something else, and soon had the cache in hand. Just what we had been expecting, and we had it opened on our first try. After signing the logbook we took the container up to show the librarian, who was most amused, and made a note so he could help other geocachers in the future. Thanks for the fun. Adding a Favourite point.
