On our Australian trip . After started for some days in Darwin we are on the road to Perth now .On the Road after Katherine, Edith Falls, Kunnurra, Bungles Bungle, Emma Falls, El Questro, Mitchel Falls, Manning Gorge, Galvans Gorge, Bell Gorge, Tunnel Creek and Windjana Gorge .Now again on the sealed road again. From Derby, Broome, Port Hedland direction Karratha .While by the Red Dog we solved this one .On the final coords we looked some time, but then found it a bit more up .TFTC# 17'194
We solved this on an earlier visit but were unable to get to Gz due to the amount of water after a heavy downpour and a muggle parked nearby watching us wander aroind. . Today all was dry and quiet. The cache wad easily accessed . Tftc
Found with e.gregory1 on a trip from Adelaide to north-western Western Australia. We spent four nights in the north-west, staying at De Grey River near Port Hedland, Point Samson, Dampier and SW of Karratha to target a selection of caches while in the general area. Great to take a look around Dampier Port, finding this cache along the way. Thanks for the cache dimor!
Found on a trip to Western Australia from Adelaide with FeatherWaite. We camped at Point Samson last night, then made our way to Karratha, finding a few caches of interest along the way.It began raining early this morning and we are enjoying a cool day today. The multi was completed and the cache was found after a short search. Thanks dimor for the cache.
Some interesting history at WP1.Did the maths and headed to GZ.A nice spot where a methodical search revealed the cache. No big ships today.SL TFTC
#783 ~ Solved the clues over a nice cold ginger beer & then drove to GZ to nab this cache. Thanks for the history lesson & cache.
We gathered the information required and then headed off. We drove to gz and then made a nice quick find. Thanks for preparing this multi cache
Out for a road trip up north to try out our new camper and grabing a couple of caches on the way.
We are staying in Dampier for a couple of days. I grabbed the info for this one yesterday and I was sitting in the caravan park this afternoon working out the final. I put the reult in the GPS then saw where it was and headed out to get it.
It didn't take too long to find

Did the calculations while having dinner at Soak. Shabooty7a quickly had the cache in hand, even in the dark. TFTC!
Picked up the traditional and virtual, then did the calcs and went and found this one. A nice easy find in the logical place. All in good condition. This was fun. TFTC
Dropped by yesterday to grab the info required and headed out today to make the find. No issues with this one. Tftc
Karratha Day 2
Arrived into town & have set up at one of the many caravan parks.
Today we headed out to the Dampier Region, wonderful views of the sea & port areas
After collecting the infromation, it was off to visit the final co-ord. FP given
This is an amazing area to explore, we found a variety of cahes.
Thankyou to the CO's for hiding this cache

We'd calculated GZ while we were out and about on Friday and today we had the time to drop by and find it. Actually, finding took a little longer than expected, but we got it eventually.

This one caused us quite some pain, our calculated finals were 12m from where we eventually found it. TFTC dimor.
Catching up on some late logs, now that I have time while travelling.
We are on the road travelling up through central Australia and down the coast of W.A. This is one of the caches we grabbed along the way.
Stopped to grab the info for this. Did what was needed to come up with some likely numbers. Happy to have a reasonably quick find once at GZ.
Thanks for placing this cache and doing the maintenance needed, so we can enjoy finding it.

Day 13 of our 3 week break in the north, we spent the day exploring the sights of Dampier & this was one of the caches found on our tour... After doing the sums we were a little unsure of our workings, but we soon discovered the hide in a logical cachers spot

Easy multi with a bit of a walk on a toasty day. Found with no problem. 4th find today...
Another trip back home and another caching adventure, happy to say we came up trumps here and walked away with a smiley TFTC
We enjoyed collating the clues but wp1 was busy so maybe I made a miss but gz was 12m out for us but a systematic search turned up the goods. TFTC dimor
After our time at Millstream, megawat60 and I are at Point Samson and exploring the Dampier area. And after giving Red Dog a pat, I gathered the info and did some mental maths…. And was very relieved that I still can when I found the cache! TFTC dimor amd a FP for the history!
Out ‘n about with m4yb getting a few caches.
Oh wow some reminiscing from the George Melly and the John Chiron Feetwarmers tour of around 1984 Festival of Perth NorWest tour! We had a very quick visit to the pub for a quick beer before the show. It has always stuck in my mind for a reason to come back this way. I couldn’t even remember whether it was Dampier or some other place. But as soon as I saw the joint the memories flooded back. Have a FP for the memories and the tour.
Thanks for the hide and dimor.

Collected the info while visiting Red Dog and worked out the maths over lunch at the yacht club. I wasn't 100% about my coords but felt more confident as I pulled up at GZ. Then it was a quick find, and a big celebration by my nieces TFTC dimor

After seeing red dog decided to do this multi as well. Coordinates were a bit off but the hiding method was exactly what I was thinking when I saw the gz. Tftc!
Had some time here between jobs so I had a look around. I have previously worked out the co-ords, but was unable to get the geo due to muggles. Well, today was my day as I found it right where I thought it would be. TFTC
Out and about checking out the sights of Dampier. After grabbing a coffee at Soak it was time to visit Red Dog again and work out the multi.
Somehow with my double checked coordinates I was about 20m from GZ, but after looking in obvious spot I made the find.

I got the co-ords for this geo but there are too many people around today. I’ll have to look for it next time I’m up this way.
Found the plaque and gathered all the information required. Did the number crunch, and with coordinates in hand moved on to gz. Wandered around a bit, but eventually made a nice find. Thanks dimor for a great little multi. Enjoyed it very much
Nice hide here. Pulled up and barely had to move to grab it. Tftc. Enjoyed it all.
Short multi in Dampier. The box survived Damien dry and fine.

Hi there dimor.
We found your cache **"History of Dampier Port"** today. (This makes our find count 22735).
We cached around Dampier today & found your cache **"History of Dampier Port"** at 1:06:00 PM. (This brings our total find count to 22735). We had an interesting trek around the area & found 5 caches today & DNF'd 0.
Thanks for placing the cache here, without geocaching as our guide we would never have found so many interesting places on our nomadic wander around Australia.
**Coordinate Accuracy:** We found your cache around 3m from where the GPS said we should be looking.
**Cache Condition:** The container and log book are in good shape.
**Took:** Nothing
**Left:** Smiley Badge.
Thanks for the hunt today,
Regards
Ian & Penny

We stopped to take the obligatory red dog photo with the geo-schnauzers who also have a bit of ‘Pilbara blush’ about them at present. Collected the info, did the calculations and made our way to gz. GPS indicated some mts away so while geo-hubby insisted on looking there, I located the container in a friendlier environment. Thanks dimor
Got all the calculation correct and made a quick find. Shame I couldn't use the private road - it would've been a lot quicker for the find. TFTH
A nice multi that brought me to an interesting spot.
Lots of possibilities but a bit of common sense overcame the compass that refused to settle. Nearly a year since last find. All safe and well here.
Visiting K-Town for a couple of days for work. Having only been here for a fleeting visit once before, there were a few caches to find.
dimor SVKR_WA found your cache History of Dampier Port today at 07:51:22 5 Jul 2019.
dimor - Thanks for placing and maintaining this cache for our enjoyment. We love travelling the state and visiting some places that we would only visit due to this game.

After checking in on Red Dog where we re-read the plaques and remembered our first visit here before he was made much well known by the film.
Then it was on to this one where we recorded the information we needed and did the maths. But then it was time for a swim as we were feeling quite warm so down to the beach we went.
The water was quite cool but really refreshing.
Now cooled we proceeded to GZ where the GPSr was again not keen to settle. It varied by 10+ metres as we wandered round.
Finally we put it in our pockets and began to search the logical places and we soon came up with it.
That you for a great short multi.

A nice short multi before we finally drove to Karratha. Last cache of today.

The Big Western Australia trip in 2018. Day 22. Today was a day around Karratha on some of the 4wd tracks inland of town before Heading to Dampier and the peninsula for more 4wd tracks and a final hill climb on foot.
A few simple interesting questions about something fun and I was off to GZ. After lunch, it was happily found where I ended up.
Thanks.

First cache in a looong time! So nice to be out caching and enjoying the school holidays. Kids enjoyed finding the info and doing the calculations and then on to the final location for a quick find. Thanks for putting some new caches in Dampier Dimor - made for a great morning out!
With so many caches around the area we decided to spend two nights here and have today to explore Karratha and Dampier without the camper trailer on the back and a very pleasant day was had indeed.
This really highlights the forces that mother nature has in a cyclone, to move buoys around is no easy task and it could have been quite embarrassing for the next ship to come through if they weren't regularly checked on.
We really enjoyed collecting the information here as it also gave us another insight into the history of the area. We calculated gz, had a quick look to see where it was and found it way out in the ocean. A quick recheck showed us our mistake and this time gz looked like a much more feasible location. We did a couple of other caches on the way here and then pulled up at a scenic location and started our search. Not long after we were rewarded with a cache find and happily added our name to the log.
Thanks again Dimor for the cache.

Damn that was an effort, that took way too long because Caity1419 and I mucked up one of the coordinates by trying to solve it as a math equation
It was a good one though, proud we did it

Collected the numbers and made a few calculations on the way into Dampier to go to the market. After a wander around I headed off to get this one. Hmmm.....
when in doubt check your calculations. Surely enough I had made one small error in the calcs. Once I fixed that it was an easy find not very far at all from where I had parked the car! Love coming to Dampier!

Found the source of the information required with no problem. Read the info carefully and picked out the numbers needed, then sat down to do the calculations for the new co-ords. Came up with what looked like a plausible location and went there. The co-ords were spot on which made for a quick and easy find. Thank you to dimor for a history lesson on DampierPort and a nice little offset multi.
Found it with SweetFA. Her accounting brain made this find a breeze for me. TFTC dimor
Found this afternoon with Bjossi after the rain. The coordinates for the final location were spot on - right in a rarely found puddle! Fortunately, this won't often be a problem. There were lots of ants on the cache so care needs to be taken. TFTC Dimor
*FTF* with Cravo10. Special thanks to dimor. Left 2 x pathtags
Day five of Barnzy12 and Cravo10 adventure to the Northwest of WA, filling out boots with LGAs, rare DT, old caches, and good old fashioned red dirt!
Today we had an easier day planned with not so much driving! Staying around the township of Karratha, we had a nice sleep in and then warmed the car up on the way to Dampier to pickup a couple of caches on the way to meeting local cacher grandadbazza at the same location as dimor recent event.
We had a crack at the archived cache nearby but couldn't get it from its hides hole so left it alone even with a previous finders assistance, after a good chat with Barry we parted ways to collect some very rare virtual caches around the burrup peninsula and some semi off road caches including an earth cache.
We were about two thirds of the way through out Dampier caching run when notifications came through for a new multi not too far away, so we completed the 4x4 duties and then backtracked all the way to the red dog statue and claimed a very swift FTF some 1200km from home. Special thanks to dimor for a well put together multi that was simple enough for us simple minded cachers.
We then continued along the plan collecting as many caches around Dampier as possible, with some not attempted due to the extreme heat and the amount of caches hidden ontop extremely hot rock piles which have burnt my hands enough this trip.
We finished up on the Dampier area after seeing my favourite little island around sams island, such a wonderful spot just a hop skip and jump from he shores of Dampier.
After lunch we collected a few more smileys around Karratha before heading to Roebourne, Wickham and point Samson to collect all the smileys in those towns to make tomorow Journey a little easier, as we now only have to detour to Cossack on the small ish drive to port hedland.
A huge day out collecting 3 virtuals, heaps of traditionals, several multis, a puzzle and an earth cache. Full on day for caching finishing up around 8pm with some take away atop a small lookout hill.
Looking forward to heading to Port Hedland tomorrow via Cossack, Whim Creek and a few other sights!
