I'd been meaning to explore this track off of SH58 for some time and was pleased to find myself in the area with some free time today. This was my turn around point and I thought for a while that it would be a DNF as the description is specific about how the cache is hidden and there was certainly no sign of it.Eventually after much rooting around I found the cache a short distance away on the ground. After signing in I returned it to the right location the best that I could. Thanks very much for the cache.
Found during a walk from SH58 up the pylon service road This was my turn-around point. I had a quick look for the track down to the Mt Cecil Rd intersection with SH58 but it looked pretty overgrown in the only location that seemed likely to go that way Will try that one another day from the SH58 end
An easy find here thanks All in great shape

#7830. I took a half day of annual leave today and it was a great option as the weather came out warm and sunny in the afternoon. I needed a few cache finds for this date and decided this series of cache placements up in Haywards Hill area was the best option. There are roadworks happening along here and the area by the gate is a worksite. I parked a bit further down the road and walked back. No workers were near the gate at the time so was able to sneak past and head up the trail. Carried on to the pylons and then spied the rather cryptic entrance to the bait station line. A bit overgrown in places but still passable. At the top of the rise I came out onto the main pylon road. Had to quickly slip around the edge of a huge number of beehives that were inconveniently placed right at the entrance of the track. Bees everywhere but no harm done. GZ was away from the beehives and the cache was soon spotted thanks to the hint. Signed the logsheet and replaced the cache as found. Thanks TTT for the cache.
I left the loop track to come up to this high point. I had intended to turn around at some point and finish the loop, but here I decided to continue down to SH58 and return to the start on the road.
Found as described; the cache is in excellent condition. I thought the wind might blow it away but it seems to have survived ok. TFTC.

As far up the trail as we went today.
Pretty well uphill all the way but easier on the way back to the car.
Nice to be walking some of these tracks.

Cache # 4,491 - Second of the day, and I usually limit myself to one a day, but since I was up this far for the Macrocarpa I decided it was worth it to continue on to grab this one. Much nicer last little section, although still steep in spots. Quite the climb up - just under an hour to get here from Haywards Hill entrance, although only 40 minutes back down. Ran into a jeep on the way back down and feared my car would have been towed - it wasn't but a clear note left on the car that no one is to park in the gravel drive! Cache itself was an instant find, and views quite nice. Thanks for bringing me and GeoKelpie to such a lovely spot! TNLNSL.
The third stop on the hill slog, this one started out easy enough, but turned into a bit of a killer climb half way through. Was pleased to get to the top of the rise and get my hands on the cache. All in order, TFTC
Targeting some Dry Creek and Haywards caching today, this was one of them.
I really enjoyed the walking in this area today. There was a bit of huff and puff but this was rewarded not just by straightforward cache finds but also by some good views, some wide open spaces and the joy of being outdoors without the rest of the population of the greater Wellington area. I recommend this track and the geocaching that has been thoughtfully established on it.
I visited here with team cacher zboy wonder. We made a straightforward find on the cache, signed the log, and returned it to its hide once again, just as found.

Decided that I needed a cache for the day and knew that there was a couple of caches along this track that I wanted to pick up today so that I could clean up the area. Having being on this 4X4 track I knew what I was going to expect and as I made my way up the track I knew that this was going to be a bit harder than I first realised as the heat today was well over 30 degrees and it is not the type of temperature that you want to be out and about in, but hey this is what caching is all about.
As I made my way up the path I made sure that I took in plenty of water to keep myself hydrated as I really didnt need to let the heat get to me, the walk up the track just seem to keep going and going and going.
As I made it up the track I soon pass the previous cache that I found here GC71MEV - Haywards: Quarry Corner which I found back in August, checked my GPS and realised that I still had about 1K to go to the furthest cache that I wanted to find.
Finally I soon passed GC71MEE - Haywards Track: Macrocarpa, and decided that I would walk pass it and pick it up on my way back down the track. Checked my GPS oh well just under 400 metres to go.
Finally after what seem like ages, I finally made it to GZ after a bit of huffing and puffing, was glad I made it, wow what great views at GZ, it only took me a few seconds to spot the very clever hiding spot for the cache, signed and then replaced it back as found, was quite surprise that this cache was placed where it was.
Thanks for placing this cache here and thanks for bringing me to this spot, TFTC TNLNSL (12838), now it is time to make my way back down the track to the cache that I pass to find and signed it.

Good hide and easy find. Found while with PatandJohn on Ray's HVTC Sunday trip.

Tftc = decided to come up here today backwards (in my opinion) so I could come and get these caches but after the hike up and then the hike up here to get this cache I looked at the downhill to follow and when even Dobby sat down I decided to go no further today I will come from the other direction one Saturday afternoon but thanks for another reason to head up this way. so we headed back to the track and continued around to the other side no way I can go back the way I came that's just not cricket.
Found on an easy club ramble along the tracks around the head of Dry Creek. TFTC
No worries here this afternoon. Good to be out and about after a week of being deck bound. TFTC
A nice early start this morning as I wanted to take advantage of a break in the weather. Had my eye on this little circuit for a while and thoroughly enjoyed my stroll today.
Uplifted the TB and will keep it moving.
Cache and log in good order and a quick find on arrival.

After a bout of ill health I was trying to find somewhere local and unexplored for a bit of a romp in the hills, and this trail fit the bill.
Nice quick find, following the cords, rather than the image on the device.
TFTC!
+ a small TB for the next finder

Today started with beautiful weather so I decided to proceed with my plan to walk this track for the first time. It suited my caching style to start at Dry Creek, hike to Haywards and return. This meant this cache was my first find of the day and, as expected, it turned out to be an easy one. I don't think I had seen a cache hidden this way before but it seems a very clever (albeit simple) method. I would like to see more like it as it was very easy for a cacher to see but would be unlikely to be accidentally noticed by a passing muggle. More importantly, it is very likely to remain completely dry.
I nice walk along a bit of a plateau along here. There's no DNFing this cache which is the kind of "hide" you can only do in zero-muggle areas like this. TFTC.
Found the cache pretty quickly with good accurate coordinates. Weather was calm and cloudy but still a good view after a decent uphill climb to reach here. This was the first time I had been on this track, an enjoyable walk. Signed log, TFTC
On a bike ride around the Dry Creek loop with a diversion off to the Haywards track to find some new caches. Diverted by a pylon track near the end of our loop. A bit of pushing later on as the gradient combined with wet clay made biking impossible.
I had just finished extracting all the gorse prickles from our last caching mission and managed to add a lot more on my hands and shins this time around with gorse on both sides and well as the centre of the track but it's all part of the fun.

#3110 and day 550 in a row. All good at GZ
A good after work climb, past another newish cache by CO - saving that one for another day.
No chance of sunburn up here at the moment - see photo
Thanks for another smilie - cache earns a Favourite Point

#9035. {FTF} at 14:21. The rain had eased off a bit on the Sunday afternoon, so we returned to Haywards for another walk to further explore the rest of the Haywards Track that we had not been on before. The tracks and GZ itself were all quiet during our visit. In fact, we did not see another soul until we got close to the Dry Creek car park. Quick find. The cache was in excellent condition, all nice and dry inside.
Dropped off Kendra the Kiwi
Took nothing, signed log.
Today we completed the anticlockwise circuit starting from Haywards Hill Road for the length of Haywards Track, then back down the Dry Creek Loop Track. From the Dry Creek car park, needed to take some care to walk back up Haywards Hill Road along its very narrow road shoulder back to the starting point. An enjoyable walk. Favorite point to represent this series.
