This was my first stop this morning after leaving the carpark. Unfortunately though I couldn't turn up the cache. To be honest I only spent 5 minutes looking but checked all the hint objects that I could see. There were piles of dead gorse branches laying around and the cache could possibly have been under these.

I found it

14-Jul-23
Tried hard but could not find unfortunately. Nothing obvious stood out for us.

With such good weather forecast this weekend, I decided to to the Kilmisiter track series, the Leprechaun puzzle series and a couple of other random caches along the way. It turns out that was exactly a 15km walk and took 5 hours. Of course I forgot to throw my boots in the car so had to do it in my sneakers. They are waterproof so it wasn't too bad, dry feet on all the stream crossings right up until the last one just by the carpark when one of the stepping stones rolled as I stood on it and sent one foot in. Hate it when that happens! All in all, a great day out and managed to snag 19 finds with only 2 dnfs.

Nice trail along the creek

First of the day on a loop around the Belmont hills. Straight forward find but log is soaked. Scrawled something on the paper. Thanks for the cache.

10-Jan-22
Yay! Thanks for setting this trail up jefraser. I started out this morning at the top of hill Rd- heading up to a couple of puzzles. Came back via Kilmister track. What a lovely block/ valleys. Messed up a bit with waypoints for that smiley puzzle but have had a super day! Log here too wet to write on so hoping photographic evidence is ok. Will definitely be back!

Quick find while out collecting another cache series.

Spiders like it, double cross the river

Log book unfortunately got wet so I couldn't write in it but cool spot!!!

06-Nov-21
Cycled up to the Belmont Park now that it is back open after lambing primarily for a size "other"cache there (this one), for my size "other"dot-days. And while I am here I am targeting others, today is also a size regular dot-day and I am trying to get my calendar up to 10 per day. It's a nice cool day, perfect for the long cycle uphill, although at the top I am in cloud, so it's damp and visibility is only 100 metres. Not that I need 100 metre vis to find a cache!
After finding a few up ther I came back to the car park to grab this, as my last for the day. No one at the car park when I came up, still no one now! But then again I am the same, I came by bike.

Marked the date wrong on the log. All day I thought it was the 4th of November, and now as I write this up I see it's the 6th! Where did the 5th go???

24-Oct-20
Lesson to self: read cache page before embarking to avoid unnecessary steep scramble down hillside! It took us a while to find what was really quite an obvious spot for a hide. We must have been softened by our recent Queenstown break where most of the hides are very simple - just look for a pile of rocks! TFTC

31-Jul-20
A nice Friday to go for a walk and get a few caches. TFTC

17-May-20
Great to be out caching again and we are indeed underway! We saw a man at the top who told us he had just been through clearing a bit of gorse, but he warned us we were in for a tricky and prickly time! Nice dry log here, tftc.,

15-May-19
went for a walk on a windy day, took me a while to get underway and find this one, glad it was here as the track wasn't that obvious from the carpark, TFTC

09-Dec-18
Very nice find on an enjoyable walk with woolwood9.
Good weather although windy in areas but we had a nice time doing quite a few of the caches in the Belmont Regional Park.
Nice quick find for us here. SL TFTC

Last one for us in the park today - great time spent here, thank you for the reason to visit.

Found while on a walk in the Belmont Regional Park with tmann421 today.
Has been a very interesting track with many things to see.
Thoroughly enjoyed the area

Beautiful afternoon made a good excuse to do another caching trail through Belmont Park. Quite surprised that I didn't see anyone else for the whole afternoon!

After 2 false starts and not reading cache description I an now underway! Appropriately named. Might not go too far due to weather. Dropped off TB.

Nice location!

My long term caching goal is to complete an average of one cache per day each year. So far this year I'm sitting at an average of 0.6, so I'm way behind - I needed a good day out caching to get myself back on track. With a new set of souvenirs up for grabs, and more than 20 caches published in this area (nearly 30 I think!) since the last time I was up here 15 months ago, this circuit seemed like the ideal place to come.

I started with this cache, but I didn't read the description so I started charging up the four wheel drive track. Soon discovered I wasn't getting any closer to the cache so I had to stop and work out what I was supposed to be doing. Soon found the cache - all in excellent condition. TFTC.

25-Feb-18
Pretty easy to find! Lovely walk.

26-Jan-18
I was under a bit of time pressure today so I chose one that I knew was not too far from the road that I had already located on a previous visit.

It took all my spare time to get up here and back but there was no drama searching or logging the visit.

The cache is in good condition. All nice and dry.

Thank you

I had walked this track earlier in the day to find some caches, before the Event in Upper Hutt in the afternoon. This area was on the edge of my Wellington pocket query, and I was frustrated to have missed six caches up in the top corner. Thanks jefraser for the cache.

All snug in its hiding spot and very dry TFTC

Missing trackable logged.

I do like the idea of a geocache series to follow where the track is not clear. I would not have come this was without the caches here.

This geocacher reported that there is a problem with this cache.

Cache # 4,083 - a cold summer's day for Astro Hunter and I. Having come back a few days ago and grabbed one along this track, I realised I still had the first two to do, so it made a good destination cache for an already scheduled trip to the Hutt today. Several horses at stile at start, and remembered why I don't like the start of this track (the stream crossings are not the most pleasant). Cache was an almost instant find. Swapped trackables, although CO should note that the Paderborn Geocoin is not present and should be marked as missing. TFTC!

Consecutive caching day # 1,692

Did today with The Wandering Dragons. The sheep ran away from us quickly, although the horses didn't seem to mind. Swapped a trinket. Thank you!

11:16. While the others were competing in the Big Trig race today, I decided to go for a little walk and pick up some of the caches I didn't have time to get last visit. Tftc, a lovely spot.

Loving this weather! I don’t want to say the S word out loud but I do think it is here!

Quick find where all good at GZ. Thanks for another smilie.

The title of this cache makes it sound like I should have started here. But I'm coming up to the end of a long loop walk with this being the last cache before returning to the car park. I found quite a few caches today and the bulk of them are thanks to jefraser so thanks for making this loop a great geocaching day.

29-Oct-17
Easy enough- found it on our return trip though! Realised we had taken the wrong turn at the beginning after all lol!!!

27-Aug-17
Another nice quick find, after a roundtrip along the Ridge Track and back again.

Lovely sunny day to be up in the hills. Had to "encourage" some cows to move out of the way.
Cache was a relatively quick find.

Spring really does appear to be here!

#4315. I decided this afternoon that I needed to do a walk and pick up a few more caches before I head off on a work trip up north. The Belmont Hills beckoned in the calmer weather. So headed up to this road end. Before I left home I thought this path would be an uphill slog. So was quite surprised to see it was following a stream down a valley. After circling around for a minute or so I spied a spot that needed checking and there was the cache. Signed the log and replaced where found. Thanks for the cache jefraser.

Out for a walk this afternoon. Stream pretty high after all the rain, so wet feet guaranteed today. After a couple of false starts at getting the right path the cache was found all nice and dry. TFTC

09-May-17
Decided to walk the track today given the weather is meant to pack up for a few days. A quick find near the beginning. All in order. TFTC

First find of the day on a mountain bike "ride" to collect the Kilmister caches. In mountain biking parlance it was more a case of "taking the iron dog for a walk" due to the steep inclines, lush grass and patches of deep mud but enjoyable nonetheless.

This one was useful for us in terms of showing we took the wrong turn right at the start, heading along the 4WD road to the right whereas we should have gone left straight to the creek and followed the track from there.

Perfect cache hiding place here.

17-Apr-17
Cache no. one in an enjoyable afternoon walking the track. Beautiful sunny day with only a gentle breeze to keep the heat from building up to much. The GPS pointed straight at the hide so it was a nice and quick find. Thanks for placing the cache, dry feet so far - we'll see how long I can keep that up for Wink

I'd walked past this without realising on the way down and by the time I'd noticed I'd already crossed the stream a couple of times and decided to leave it until the return trip. An easy find and a good excuse for resting weary legs before climbing the last few yards up to the car.

As I got back to the car park I bumped into Trails Trails Trails who'd just arrived on his way out. Exchanged pleasantries and talked about the weather - very murky

TFTC!

Last cache for the day after walking out to the Gorse Alley cache. I enjoyed this series jefraser, so thanks very much. Much appreciated.
Onward to a hot shower and dinner! Smile

I missed this one on the outward journey. I was on the wrong side of the stream even though, at times, I was being informed that I was one or two metres away. After finding the next cache, I returned and I found what I was seeking fairly quickly.

#9028. Returned to the Belmont hills for a short hike in a by now familiar section of the Kilmister Track. We had bypassed this Underway cache on previous trips, saving it for a quick one that we needed for today. The track and GZ were again all quiet when we visited. Quick find. The cache was in excellent condition, all nice and dry inside. Took nothing, left nothing, signed log.

Thanks for bringing us back to this site, and …

Stopped here this morning on the return walk from "The Third Way" back to the Hill Road carpark. I found the cache quickly in about the third place checked. Signed log, TFTC!

So I was sitting at home, thinking I needed to get out of the house when I saw the notifications for these caches come through. I saw that this one wasn't far along the track so decided to head straight out. Arrived at the car park and saw that it was empty, which was a good sign. Headed down the track and made a gingerly first crossing of the swollen creek. Then I discovered that I had to cross back again further one. I did end up getting a bit of water in my gumboots. Then it was on to the cache. As I approached GZ there seemed to be only one obvious place and soon had my hands on the cache. Opened it up and yes! A blank log sheet. Made my mark and headed back to the car park, going around the corner of the creek so I didn't have to cross it again, but watched carefully by a group of cows.

Arrived back at the car park and there was another car there - pretty much only one reason for someone to be up here in this weather, and it turned out to be paddle_chick. Had a bit of a chat about the cache, and then huhugrub turned up as well - you've got to be quick to beat him to a FTF if he decides he's going for it, especially in the Hutt Big Grin

Some more chit-chat and paddle_chick decided to not head off for the cache, but huhugrub did and as I had left the other new caches (not wanting to make any more creek crossings), there's plenty more FTFs for him to get! Smile TFTC

Visiting Wellington for a few days from Nelson, saw the new caches pop up and as I was in Petone at the time the GPS said I wasn't far away, I don't know the area at all so figured why not. Interesting drive on very narrow road to get here. Nice to meet a couple of locals in the carpark, when I realised the short walk involved wet feet I changed my mind as the thought of another 2 days caching in wet shoes wasn't that appealling. Another time
