We weren't expecting to be able to look for the cache but the lane had an access path so we wandered in. Great artwork! We hadn't found it when some shop owners arrived to discuss the vacant building right where we were standing. End of search....
Hi there GlobeTrotters7701.
This is the 3rd of 5 caches we didn't find today. [:(!]
Access to laneway blocked.

Hi there GlobeTrotters7701,
RE: Your cache **"UrbEx - 5th Lane"**
Access to the laneway is blocked, off due to works being conducted, and has been since at least 16 April.
It may be a good idea to disable this cache until the works are complete - so that it does not appear in PQ's and other searches.
Regards
Ian & Penny

It’s there. I looked for a long time went up and back checking out the art and decided for one more go at it. BANG! Still very penless however once I located it I thought I better sign the log, went to the local cafe for a pencil, signed and replaced. I was going to take a photo of the cache but decided against it because no one else had before. Cool place cool hide Fav point. Cheers.
Grey Nomads travelling around Australia - more recently, just Queensland, and of late, heading up the Bruce. Today with our snail firmly parked in a snail park in Mackay.
Searched and searched and searched. Despite one really explicate clue, we still did not find, so we went and had a coffee instead.
Maybe next time in town.

After waiting 15mins at wild goat for coffee which I lost as soon as I sat it above the fire hydrant. Found cache to the right of mushroom valley
Found with orth71 on a trip from Townsville to Mackay to see family for Christmas.
Out caching on the 28th.
Nice to see the laneways being used productively.

Mackay caches have been unkind to me so far! There was some fabulous street art here, however. 0 for 3 today...
Tftc, wouldn't have found without help. Amazing art here well worth a walk down this lane . Left of the Mousehole when looking at it, we found the prize.
Our last afternoon in Mackay before we head off north. Out on our bikes with Mr DiMorgan along the breakwater, after a keen looking for any whales we returned to the marina side to grab a few caches. Not helped due to the GPS still playing up and picking its own cache and not the one that we were heading to. Still managed to get them using our trusted standby phone.
On our return we continued into town, with Mr DiMorgan leaving us to take DiMorgan shopping (really, me thinks it is an afternoon geo fix.....)
Great afternoon riding in a great town.

I found this a while back, so just logging it now. I was taking a short cut through here on a night out, and was telling a friend about it and decided to have a quick look and there it was.
I looked for this one a couple of days ago and came away empty handed. My gut feeling was that the cache was there, and I returned today for another look. Persistence paid off and I found it after a short search.
The laneways project has made such a difference to these spaces. The artwork is beautiful and the kids loved interacting with it through the Zappar app. Great to visit. But no cache for us today, could it have been removed during the artistic upgrade?
A bit of look before we found it. With all the broken glass on the edges and in crevices I didn’t dare reach where I couldn’t see. However my hubby was more brave and took the risk to grab the prize. Stopped by and downloaded app to check out art while eating lunch with mates at the Grazing Goat on a quick stop through Mackay I the way to Cairns! TFTC
Up and back to Mackay today for work - and a chance for a quick walk around the city this morning sipping on my current coffee. A lovely laneway, complete with a straight forward cache. A good start to the trip.
Thanks GlobeTrotters7701 for entertaining me at this location.

After high school I decided to take a gap year. Four months to australia just to travel with my travelbuddy and our van Freek. Offcourse I also have to find some geocaches. Then everybody knows what I've been to australia. What a beautiful country it is! Thanks so much for these geocaches!
Interesting these lanes!!! I guess the ambition for cafés hasn't materialised, they still seem like rubbish and sewer collectors with a few down and outs thrown in!! Tftc
Girls had an early hairdressing appointment that was going to be long so what a great time to grab some normally busy caches.
Had me looking for a while, cautious about the awaiting cabs but ended up being near where I thought it would of been hidden.

I had to meet a friend for breakfast nearby and was a bit early. Out came the app and I ww you this cache. When I walked in to the alley I realised I use to drive down it all the time when I was a pizza delivery guy years ago as the back of the shop is/was in this lane.
After a few minutes I spotted the hide and added my name to the log.
Thanks for the cache
Cheers

Thank you for the cache. Visiting Mackay with our exchange student so went exploring.
Mackay Day2
Today we decided to cache closer to the city. We usually find caching in unfamiliar towns quiet frustrating. Some of the roads on the GPS don't exist or are one way which doesn't help.
We found a good variety of caches in some amazing locations.
Walking the streets seemed to be the best option. No one takes much notice of a senior lady. Took awhile to spot this one.
Thanks for placing this cache GlobeTrotters7701

I've stuck my hand in some scarey places in search of caches, but none as scarey as hidey holes in a lane out the back of night clubs........I only had a very quick look for this one in the most obvious places, don't gauge looking for it off of my dnf.
In town New Years Eve, so decided to try and find some caches while waiting for midnight fireworks. The night club was in full swing and opened into the lane right opposite GZ, so hard to be stealthy. So many cockroaches, I didn't want to put my hand anywhere I couldn't see, so decided to leave this one for another time. T4T$
A few caches at night. Plenty of options here but got lucky and spotted it
Cool series to do in the dark
Thanks for hiding
