We climbed up both signs and checked open tubes and brackets. No obvious cache or wire.
I have declared battle on this one. I even had a geo-ladder to look...... I'll be back
Nice easy find on the way to and from Birdsville. TFTC. I thought I saw the min min but it was just Ardoms shiny phone cover reflecting the sun into my eyes..

We had to stand on the camper trailer to get it. 70km/h winds and 43'C. Lid is broken.
TFTC sure did need a bit of height for this one. Hopefully get to see the Min Min lights some day. The containers lid is broken away.
The Min Min light is an interesting tale that’s for sure. We’ll keep a lookout for the light tonight.
With our little step-stool we managed to retrieve the cache. All good here.
Thank you.

Saw it and saw that it was too high for me. Tried to boost the teen, but it seems the food on the road has been agreeable with him and that brought no joy other than a giggle fest. Nothing else to it, it was time for the car - then it was short work. Leaving a FP for the fun and adventure of the trip.
Looking forward to exploring and this was one of the caches we targeted and found. Thanks
It’s broad day night! No min min lights but a cache logging with DeafCat, Deafphantom and DutchAus
Was finally able to get away on my 2021 trip up to outback Qld.
The original plan was to go up through NSW but that got changed on the morning of the departure so up through SA it was.
Was very apprehensive about towing the new van up the Birdsville track but my only other option was to stay home.
Well the caravan has made it up the track and after Bedourie, Boulia for the Camel racing and it was time to head to Winton for a couple of days.
I’m glad I’m travelling during the day as the Min Min lights have not been a problem.
The cruisers Bull bar came in handy for this one.
Thanks The Outback Way TFTC.

We camped overnight in the Lilyvale rest stop. Heading towards Boulia we stopped to read the story of the Min Min and collect the cache. I looked in the obvious spots and then read the hint. Fortunately we had the right stuff in the caravan to enable the retrieval of this cache. When I was a child I read a book by Ivan Southall about the Min Min. It won children's book of the year if i remember correctly. I found the story a bit scary back them.
No sign of anything here and we couldn't agree on whether the sign was green or black. In either event, Karicka left a replacement nice and high so it won't go wandering. Thanks for the cache
Thanks for the cache and replacement. I first heard of these lights from an uncle who drove trucks in this area many decades ago. Very interesting.
Cheers

Very few places for a cache here.

A scary legend indeed. But not such a scary cache with the right approach. It’s not easy being green.

Found on trip around Australia with Willow the little black adventure cat. See vancatmeow.com for updates on where we are. Three years on the road.
Thanks for the cache!
Thanks for the cache!
Started doing the caches along this route through to Laverton WA some years ago. Good to get some of them this side of the border and follow the Cobb Coach route. This one was a challenge for my short stocky physique. Thanks for putting these out.
Thanks for the advice about needing help to get thus one down and back up! Another one found. Thanks gor the series.
found it TFTC. My father in law saw min min lights when he was about 30 as he was driving a truck
No, we didnt see the min min light, but we did see mirages on this l-o-n-g road! Easy cache thanks.
Travelling towards Winton we have been picking up a few caches on the way and this was one of them.
An easy find at GZ.
Thanks for placing and maintaining this cache for our enjoyment.

I have been interested in the ‘Min Min lights’ since I first heard about it as a child many years ago. I didn’t ever expect that I would get here though.
I took the opportunity to camp out nearby in my swag just to see if I could get a glimpse of the lights, but no luck - all I saw was a sliver of moon low in the sky, a billion stars and a couple if passing satellites. Probably just as well really, as I was on my own and probably no-one would have believed me anyway. Hopefully next time.
The cache was almost as elusive. Initially I couldn’t find it and thought it may have been muggled. Then I wondered if it might have blown away and sure enough, there it was intact and on the ground about 40 metres away. One of the magnets is missing, but I repositioned it back where it should be, jamming it in a bit to try and keep it there.
Thanks The Outback Way for the cache - it was a memorable experience for me, and I enjoyed looking around the area in the morning, including the grave across the other side creek in what was apparently the original cemetery.

After having a fantastic night at the Boulia caravan park we got off to a leisurely start and then really enjoyed doing all the touristy things in town before heading off towards Winton picking up whatever caches that we come across.
We did the Min Min Experience back in Boulia and we were happy to come to the spot where one of these occurrences happened. We love the stories of the Min Min lights and how they have become slightly embellished over the decades but deep down we hope that the mystery is never uncovered as it adds to the mystique of the outback. We have seen lights that we couldn't identify on two occasions but they didn't bob up and down or attack us, it was simply a light like a bull light on a truck that stayed directly in front of us, it didn't matter which way we turned on the track and this went on for about 25kms about 150km from the Carnegie end of the Gunbarrel highway. Whether or not it was a Min Min or not we will never know but it did give us a bit of a strange feeling.
The cache itself proved a little bit more difficult than expected but fortunately we had the right tool onboard to make retrieval a nice quick process and the log book now contains our name.
Many thanks The Outback Way for the cache.

Well, a weekend away camping would not be complete without some caches. Had to go the long way home to make it worthwhile. TFTC TNLN
Beautiful day for an outback drive... thought I was in Long-reach for this one Thanks for breaking up the boredom The Outback Way
On me travels today,
I was headed east from Boulia through the land of the Min Min !! [:o]
Tonight was going to be a full moon !!
And I was going to camp out around half way between Boulia and Winton
Fingers crossed the lights appeared
Well at least the cache appeared
And I found a use for the "Alice Springs Experience" flag that I hadn't thought of
It came in handy for knocking this cache off its perch,
and putting it back

Driving from Winton to Alice Springs via the Plenty and collecting a few smilies along the way. Can only imagine the thoughts running through the head of the stockman who first experienced this phenomenon.

After attending the Red Centre Experience event and spending a little time exploring some iconic locations in the Northern Territory, it was time to make a more or less express trip back home. Fortunately there were sufficient well placed caches at opportune spots to safely park and stretch our legs on our way home [^]. As Mrs Just a Trifle's father was born and raised in Boulia, we spent some time in town to look around, visit the graves of her grandfather and great-grandfather and also Goodwood station where her father was born and grew up, helping his father who owned the property. It was a surprise to learn that her forebears had apparently been quite influential in the town and quite well liked (even though they basically ignored their grandchildren in Brisbane!).
Mrs Just a Trifle's father use to tell stories of the Min Min light and how he had seen it once when out droving with his father [:O Now that we have had a small taste of what there is to offer in central and north-west Queensland, we will need to look at organising another trip sometime when we can spend more time to explore the area. We had no difficulty in locating the cache and with our name added to the logbook, we continued on our long journey.
Thank you generalmanager for having placed the cache for maintaining it for everyone to enjoy

Hi there generalmanager - we stopped for two days in Boulia before continuing on to Winton. The bitumen road is just so much better than the bulldust of the Donahue and Plenty 'highways' - they don't deserve that name - they are a disgrace to the NT and QLD governments. That aside, this is our find #4541 - thanks to generalmanager for this cache.

We are still travelling towards the Red Centre Experience mega Event at Alice Springs and picking up caches along the way, of course. No problem finding the cache after the muggles ahd left. Needed just a bit of extra height to be able to retrieve it. Thanks to generalmanager for another cache placed along the Plenty Highway.
Found on our travel across the Plenty Hwy to the Red Centre Experience.
