Area recently upgraded by council and geocache has subsequently gone missing. Taking it off line until I find time to get a new one in its place.
T-Tech and I are travelling around South Island for 6 weeks
We stayed at Murchison last night, and today we are heading west to Greymouth, as T-Tech wants to drive back across to Christchurch tomorrow through Arthur's Pass [^] We set up camp in the car park, and went to search for this one but couldn't find it. About an hour later, a couple of folk turned looking suspiciously like geocachers, and we got to meet Troodles and StreetWalkerNZ They too spent ages searching, but still no cache could be found.

A nice spot indeed but despite searching a while, we couldn't turn it up. The terrain rating suggests rock climbing isn't involved ....
One good outcome is that we were muggled here by IolantheK and T-Tech, who then accompanied us while doing the night cache.

The Seagnoid, Zara Toby and I are off for an expedition to the West Coast for a long weekend. Camped out at Reefton Friday night, with an early start Saturday to Greymouth. Its the Point Elizabeth Walkway on the radar today. Dropped Zara off at this end and snagging a couple of caches on our way back to the other start.
Rocks, rocks, yes its a scramble among the rocks. There is a family near by but taking no notice of us. Snagged and tagged. Cheers

On a three day holiday with TaybeeDragon. Geocaching of course! Came here to drop Zara at this end of the Point Elisabeth walkway, and take Toby to the other end and walk back.
Looks like a classic case of wall-crawling here, to use a phrase I learnt from a puzzle series in Christchurch. There was a you family with kids about 6-8 years old, but they ignored us, so we ignored them.

Yay. Thanks. Good find to keep warm on an icy evening while waiting for league training to finish. But ... Container and contents very wet. Paper ripping while trying to sign
"Pondering" what the sea must have been like to send the fishing boat so far up the beach. A fine sunny day but the water still looked very rough. TFTC
On West Coast travels for a wee family holiday. Arrived in Greytown for an overnight stay.....dropped family at TheWarehouse/Countdown for supplies...and I ducked out for a cache or two before our afternoons walking adventure! Had to outwait a lady sitting bang on GZ contemplating the ocean. Once she had departed it was a methodical search which netted the cache. A few Campers starting to arrive and set up.
A couple years ago, before the revamp, I was trying to find a cache (now archived) about 100m from here (more at the entrance of the carpark)....at night....I noticed a fire a bit further down the beach...quite big...but I thought nothing of it as the stock cars had just finished and I presumed it to be a boozey beach party.....intent on trying to unearth the cache in the dark...grrr...there were a couple campers parked up, but I thought nothing of them...until a couple foreign campers came over to me worried (wonder what they thought of me scrabbling around the long grass ignoring the fire? LOL), no, the fire was unattended they said...hmm...I wandered down the beach....hmmm...huge unattended fire....hmmm....111...fire please....aahhhh the caching memories. Looks different in the day & without a blazing fire?! ha ha ha....

Somehow we never discovered this neat area. It looks like it's a major make-over of what was previously there, is well received and well used. While trying to look casual we hoped to make a quick find. Then the three of us, Holymu, grandson Noah and me started a systematic search. It was Noah who squealed with delight when he spotted the prize. Between muggles the cache was retrieved and log signed. Thank you nzwildsouth
Despite being reasonably frequent visitors to this area I had no idea this spot had been developed like this. The cache wasn't very easy to find, in fact it was 7yr old Noah who found it in the end.
It's great to have another cacher in the area.
Thank you nzwildsouth.

Wow what a pleasant surprise it was to see how nice they have done up this area! We used to live in Cobden but its been quite awhile since we have been here obviously because I didnt know they had done this area up for the campers. With it being Easter there were plenty of muggles about but we were able to search nonchalantly while being eaten by the sandflies until a doggie came over excited to see me. It was my sisters dog Max so while I rang her up to let her know Mum searched and found the cache by herself. Thanks for another Easter surprise and the smilie
