Our NEW ZEALAND - TASMANIA - AUSTRALIA JOURNEY takes us to beautiful places and provides us with an incredible number of wonderful moments and experiences.Occasionally we also visit a few GeoCaches along the way. After a wonderful day climbing Fantham Peak??, we went for a short evening walk in the forest. Unfortunately we could only find two pieces of wood from this cache, it seems to be destroyed...???? (...I informed the cache owner).Thank you for placing, maintaining and caring snapfish2 from Switzerland????PS: Translated with the Deepl app??
Loved this cache and the surrounding area. The cache has come adrift & just hanging together Thanks for the placement
after working out location of this cache it was back to car and a small drive.
good work to gz.
some very large macrocarpa trees here.
bit of a search to find cache.
container could do with some repairs.

With Gap (of Fap and Gap)…
Auckland Anniversary: The Taranaki weather had been particularly good to us this weekend, considering the mayhem it had sparked further up the country. It felt almost anticlimactic to be going home today, but work beckons…
We thought we could reach ground zone from the Western Loop Walkway. It felt nearby, but this hide was on the opposite side of the river… It was a challenge to zero in on the cache but we persisted. The Hotel Hemideina needs some rehabilitation and refurbishment. The door is just hanging in there and a few uninvited bugs have taken to squatting in the premises. Thanks knees’n’things. TFTC.

School holidays so time for a tiki tour to visit friends in Taranaki. Stayed the night in Stratford so now collecting some local caches. Great walk along the river and over the bridges. Enjoyed this cache. Could do with some TLC. Thanks for the smiley.
I found GZ ok, but it took me longer than it should have to find the cache! Then another moment before I found the log sheet. Log sheet was hard to write on, but I managed to write 'kiwi' on in blue pen. Thanks for the cache. Impressive amount of water in the river today!
Found it . Awe yuck. Great little find and careful extraction past the yuck.
PS , careful, the cache is damaged. The cache is in need of repair.

These are the stuff of nightmares for the MSP half so she stood back. A truly massive spider in residence but none of the intended residents seemed to be at home. Clever cache. Tftc
A plan was hatched recently to hit the Naki area this long weekend. Nice to get away and grab a lot of our solved puzzles and ALs plus others along the way. Signed logs Team BoP to save room on log sheets.
Lol funny to hear our mate screaming!! A def fp.
I am logging using the Cachly app template so please excuse generic logging along the way. It’s just my way of keeping track, but I do genuinely thank each and every one of you cache owners for taking the time and energy to place these caches. Many Thanks for bringing me here. Cheers.

On a weekend trip to Taranaki with some of Team BOP. Always lots of fun on these trips targeting cache trails, solved puzzles and high favourites. Thanks to all the cache owners TFTC. Loved this one especially with other cachers
TeamBOP are together again for the long weekend. Philip.Perry, McJandals,NZFlossy and myself are heading to New Plymouth and surrounding areas caching.
The local spider has devoured the Weta managed to get the log out without being attacked my the spider. FP for this cache

Team BOP is back on the road this time heading to Taranaki with our sights set on some Labs, some geo-art & everything else in between
Our current incarnation includes Davidson Clan, NZFlossy, McJandals and myself and we’ve signed the cache logs as ‘Team BOP’ to save time and log space. We’ve thoroughly enjoyed the journey as most caches have been found quickly & without fuss thanks to accurate coords and a straight forward placements.
I appreciate there’s a stigma attached to cut’n’paste logs like these so I’ll try to provide cache specific notes retrospectively when I get home. We do genuinely respect the work put into these caches, particularly some of the puzzles, but with a numbers mission like this - the hides start to blur together unfortunately. So Cheers COs, TFTC and most importantly - thanks for bringing us here

Decided against paddling across the river while doing the western loop. Was an easy find though extracted with extreme caution. Love it.
ANZAC weekend in Taranaki. Focused on Adventure Labs and also whatever will be handy. This hide was one of them.
I had a big pleasure to meet CO in person yesterday. He mentioned this hide. Couldn't resist!
Absolutely an epic hide!

Was fun finding this one. Knew what I was looking for but was out of veiw. After some off track looking, found. Only found half of the cache gaurdan. And Nun of its family members at home. TFTC
After going for a drive to Dawson Falls we decided to come back into Stratford before heading onto Whanganui again.
What a neat little adventure this cache was for Arcane Junior and I. We hightailed it through the path, got to GZ and began our hunt.
I ended up climbing more than I needed to, grabbing a large branch to steady myself which moved sending me sliding down the bank. When I stopped I looked around again and aha, what’s this!
A large black spider was taking residence but managed to sign the log.
FP awarded. TFTC knees’n’things!

Thanks for putting out this cache for woolwood9 and I to find!
SL **tm/ww NZ** (may just be a black smudge on the many wet or plastic logs)
We soon had another good cache located.
*Very nice walk, little scramble to cache, very good hide!*

last time i try for this one just about broke me leg,not this tome found on a nice sunny winters day,to big spiders were in residence too.but no weta
We quickly located the hotel, although getting up the last metre was tricky. We needed to reread the instructions to find out where the interesting log was. A favourite from us. TFTC
alas on my way to this cache tripped on a tree root and twisted my ankle wont be caching for a while me thinks ,will try to get this one when able to crawl or walk again.
Times like these I wish I was just a bit nimbler. I got it after a few attempts to get to it. Very clever cache. Now to go back to the car and rest.
Very cool cache. Nobody was home when I arrived but an awesome set up. Also it took me a second to realise where the log was! FP from me.
Spent ages searching here. Finally found the hotel with no residents in today. Now snagged and tagged. Cheers
Day 8 - Saturday 21 December. A long day from New Plymouth to Egmont, then Stratford and back to New Plymouth for a few well earned ZZZZs.
The Seagnoid, Zara, Toby and I are spending Christmas exploring Taranaki via geocaching. Its been an amazing 3 week adventure. Rattls BBQ was a great event, meeting many other cachers. But also managed to fit in a few more events, especially New Years Day celebrating the start of 2020. Lots of caches - over 500. Lots of cache maintenance. Lots and lots of kilometers. And lots of amazing places visited along our journey. Mt Taranaki remained elusive for much of our travels and the caches on it at the top. Loved Pukekura Park Night Lights Show and the the Wooden Mechanical toy exhibition at NP Info centre.

Spent ages exploring here, slightly confused as, when meeting the CO earlier, he said it was on the wrong side of the river. Well, if it is on the wrong side, and he knows it, why not just update the coords? Debated with the dragon about crossing fording the river and then zoomed out too far and realised he ment the wrong side in relation to the WL track. In other words, coords are probably fine. Suddenly I realised which the cache title ment and knew what to look for. Ah! there it is!! And yes, coords are spot on.
Day eight of Taybeedragon's and my big 3 week circumnavicaching trip around Mt Taranaki, starting from Palmerston North. Today is up the mountain and Inglewood and Stratford.
Highlights:
* 3 weeks, 536 caches
* Mt Taranaki had been removed for washing, which was a bit of a shame. Even after it had been returned we were only allowed to see it for it was less than half an hour a day.
* High percentage of caches with crappy coordinates
* Amazing Pukekura Park
* AMAZING Pukekura Park light show!
* Pukeiti Gardens
* Lots of cache maintenance!

* 20 years of geocaching worldwide.
* 20 years since New Zealand had the very first geocache hidden outside of USA.
* And it's 2020 - all the 20s!
Talk to your geo-friends and start planning to be part of [this event](https://coord.info/GC87777) - you won't want to miss it!

thank goodness no live ones staying at present, still made me jump though, great cache, gets a favourite point from me, tftc
This is a cool cache. When I open it the resident inside was covered in a thick white web. Now I'm not keen on spiders. So I was worried the owner of this web was still in there. So reluctantly I flicked it out with my pen. Relieved no black spider came with it. Lol Must of moved on. Cleaned it up and signed log. On return to the car and driving on we discovered both of us had step in dog poo. Enjoyed the cache though. Tftc
This was the first one we did after the CITO and after this one we discovered we need to cross the river After attending the CITO we had a nice meal at Malones then it was time to do the western loop.
Things got a little confusing to start with as we were on the north side of the river but once we returned and got onto the right trail or that should be the left trail we started doing the loop going anti clockwise but after seeing the closest cache get further away we changed tact and went clockwise (silly us ) as it was a loop either way would of been ok but still we completed it and enjoyed the walk around tracks we never knew were there
many thanks
A FP

Checked as requested. Cache is still firmly fixed in its original placement, and visible from the trail path. However, part of the log container is missing but this doesn't affect the overall hide. Because the undergrowth has increased and the bank has slipped a bit I have increased the terrain difficulty to 2.5.
Found with Julius family. Logging now as I have my own account. Disgusting!! Glad there was no one alive at home, but still disgusting. TFTC
Our 3rd cache for the day. We had a great time at the Girl Guide Thinking Day event at the Stfd pools first. Only 1 resident at home in the cache today but he wasn't scary. Cool cache. Girls had fun exploring along the walkway. Thanks for bringing us here.
Day 18 in Newzealand. Today we drove from New Plymouth to Kuratau.
A very beautiful Country with lovely places. We were able to find nice Caches and See Lots of beautiful places.

We just had time for a short walk this morning before having to make an early afternoon appointment. This track was the chosen one so just the one cache stop was available. Once I read the description, I realised this was going to have to be a solo effort as my travelling companion wouldn't want a bar of it. I managed to track down the impressively constructed container without too much bother.
Heading out in the company of HKCB for a quick 24 hours down to Taranaki collecting caches around the mountain to try to tidy up the area.
We departed Hamilton at 7pm Friday and made it back home 7pm on Saturday with a haul of 70 caches and 820kms traveled. A great drive through the night, clear sky's and a fantastic day on Saturday to view the mountain in all its glory, a calm sea along the coast. Together these factors made the trip memorable as we could not have asked for better conditions to cache in.
A big thank you to all the CO's whom have placed these caches for us and continued their maintenance.
Second pleasent walk of the morning and having parked close by, made the find harder than it needed to be but got there in the end.
Thank you for the placement, thank you for the cache.

In the company of Cats&Dragons for a quick 24 hour blast around Mt Taranaki, with the aim to tidy up as much of the area as possible. Leaving 7pm Friday night and returning 7pm Saturday we managed the loop and found about 70 caches along the way, with a couple of hours sleep thrown in as well. The weather also played its part with fantastic vistas throughout the day of the mountain.
With some well hidden and maintain caches found throughout the day a big thanks must go to all the CO's for the placements. Took a bit longer than it should have. Thanks for the hide.

After a message from the CO last night we decide to have another attempt at this cache. We hadn’t realised that the walk was on both sides of the river. Got to GZ and after a short search found the hide.
Great container with a real spider living in it.
Thanks for the effort in creating this cache and for the extra help.

GPS wanted us on the other side of the river. We read previous logs but could find nothing that related to any comments.
I walked along to the cache although the track still had yellow tape and a sign on the ground saying track closed. a runner was on the track also so i guess it must still be ok but after getting here i could not manage to retrieve it and as it started to rain again heavy this time i did not spend any more time here.
I enjoyed the walk to this cache along the river. It was flowing fast due the rain we have had today. The track was a bit soggy too but nothing this 'hardy' cacher couldn't handle!
Once at GZ I quickly located the cache and I was careful not to slip while I made my way to the cache container. Not really knowing what to expect I opened the cache container and after a chuckle I extracted the log. I reached in my pocket for my pen but it wasn't to be found, I'd left it in the car....dam. I had my phone with me so trying my best to keep my balance I managed to take a photo for proof of find.
What a cool cache container and it must've taken some time and effort to get it into place too - well done!
I've only had one experience with a real weta and it so happened to be when I was caching up near Lake Taupo. To make a long story short I was expecting a cache to drop in my hand BUT a weta ended up in the palm of my hand instead and I got one helluva fright! Some would say I screamed like a little girl but I deny that of course!
TFTC and please do excuse me not signing the log. Happy to send photo of find if requested.

Lovely sunny day and a chance to go exploring...and geocacing locally. Have explored other parts of these tracks for caches...time to explore this part. Great hide worth a favourite for the effort. Tftc
Was quite challenge to find (because of latest storm love the little critter inside
Went for a lunchtime stroll to get this. I appreciated the shade with the temperature in the high 20's. The cache, including its mobile guests, is pretty cool and gets a FP. Thanks.
Found during our holiday to New Zealand together with GeoFinn. Touring in a campervan through this amazing country; second time here, now with our son. 5 weeks was over in a blink; already plans for a third time.
Travelling, geocaching, hiking, kayakking, swimming, mountains, lakes, geyers, beaches; it was amazing. CO's thanks for your cache, it made our trips even more fun.
Did not find this one, was to dark already.

Found it after a nervous hunt. I voted for my better half to get this one! Brilliant hide. Tftc
Been meaning to find this one for awhile now...was in town today for the show and made sure I left enough time to call past here on the way home. Nice stroll to GZ and a quick scramble to check out the hotel. There were 3 babies in residence today. One near the log! I survived though..TFTC!
Popped down for a golf game and thought we'd weta on the way. Had a few posts to check before we found the right one. Great cache, a fav. Thanks
Very cool!! Had to send the other half to get this one as I made the mistake of wearing inappropriate footwear! Tftc a fave point from us!
The GPS was not very happy today. Not sure if it was the wet, overcast weather or the tree coverage, but it was flicking all over the place. So we just searched the general area until the cache was spotted. After a while the GPS agreed with us - thanks GPS/phone!
A nicely set up cache, thanks knees'n'things

I saw the hotel from the track and then climbed the slippery bank. I smiled when I opened the the hotel. I managed to extract and replace the log with no complaints from the resident. A fave from me.
Cheers for the cache.
Cheers for the cache.
Checked. It is still in place and visible from the track (at certain angles.)
Came back today for another look. Yesterday I was looking in the correct place but not high enough. Terrain rating is what threw me. IMHO it's more like a T2.5 or perhaps 3. I can think of a number of geocachers who would struggle to get this one.
A couple of babies in residence, but they left upon opening the Hotel. TFTC. Nice one

Another lovely walkway - one of the many around Stratford, and (after a bit of a scramble), a cute, young weta snoozing in his hotel. I'm afraid he had a very rude awakening! Great cache, thanks
I shall have to come back with GPSr as couldn't find it with my phone. Looked like someone else has been through here recently too going by the sign on the ground here, so there maybe another log coming...
Scratched around a bit before cottoning on to its location. Nicely placed. Have seen a few of these Weta hotels but all have been differently designed. Tftc knees'n'things.
Thought I was going to a wetter hotel as the clouds gathered and the rain had just started. Luckily it held off for me to find the weta hotel check in and sign the log thanks knees n things another fab cache gets a fav TFTC
It's right cold out here!!! Using phone a friend and general mountain goat I found it. Great cache. Thank goodness there was no recent inhabitants. Thank you for the cache.
What a nice Surprise..... after the west loop tour we found this on our display and at gz............#STF# thank you from Switzerland
So yes, turns out I am that Mad Geocacher that races out at all hours of the night in the wet and cold with a cellphone torch that is barely charged to walk down a path close to the river where anything could go wrong!! But at least for my madness I collected a {FTF}, what a neat idea for a cache. I remember walking down this track when the Western Loop Series was published, it took me awhile to realise this track was taking me no where!! I am so sorry but I dropped the butterfly clip at the top, I spent awhile searching for it but couldnt find it again. That wasnt the only thing I dropped (please not my phone!!) but I managed to find that part. Only one real resident in the Hotel tonight lol. TFTC
