Spent the whole time waiting for some dogs in nearby backyards to start barking their head off, which is normally my experience with caches in locations like these. I was pleasantly suprised it didn't happen so I had a nice amount of quite time to find the cache and explore the area a bit. As a bonus, Aril 2017 is a missing month on my placed month grid. TFTC!

Every time I come to this area for bush walks, bird watching and native plant discovery I notice this cache is nearby. Time never allows me to take the short detour to find it.
Today we had a successful morning and decided to go to Joshua Porter Reserve for morning tea.

I decided to forego the tea break and go for the cache instead.
Parked the geomobile and walked the short distance to GZ. A couple of minutes inspection and I could see the cache. I wonder if it is where the CO originally placed it as it was definitely not a D2.5, much easier than that. Still the co-ordinates were quite close.
Signed the logsheet and headed off.
Still had enough time for morning tea as the group took an extra long break after our couple of hours walking.

We're camping at Mannering Park this weekend. I had to duck down to Woolies this morning so figured I'd make the trip worthwhile by grabbing this nearby cache that I hadn't looked for when I was last in this part of the world.

No problems making the find and as there was no logsheet in it, I added one. Thanks for the hide gutentarkeys.

We have travelled up from Sydney’s Northern Beaches, staying for a couple of nights in a park cabin at the Lake Macquarie Big4 Tourist Park in Mannering Park, to continue with our caching adventures on the Western shores of Lake Macquarie. Our previous visit to the area was in March/April 2018 for the OZ GeoMuster 2018 Lake Mac Mega Event, where our family’s chief puzzle solver had managed to solve (unassisted) a good portion of the Mega GeoArt puzzle caches that were on offer. And this new visit will hopefully see us complete most of the missing pieces of that Mega GeoArt, thanks once again to our family’s chief puzzle solver’s (unassisted) puzzle solving efforts. This was the 3rd of 23 finds for the day, and 53rd of 73 finds for the weekend.

Parked the geomobile at the end of Lloyd Avenue, and then followed the back of the fence line to GZ for a nice quick find. Log was too wet & slimy to sign, so we took a photo of it instead. Looks as if the home owners that back onto this area have claimed it as their own. TFTC Gutentarkeys.

Walked in using thongs from the suggested entrance point. Didn't notice any danger in the area. Found the cache, signed as good as we could and replaced it. Cache is soaked and needs some love from the CO.

Moved from Newcastle today, down to a previous short holiday destination Mannering Park, now that we have decided to go to the Stockton Event. Will work on the geo art and other small trails around the lake. So far so good, a couple of DNF's but going strong. tomorrow a full day caching, hopefully we will bag quite a few.

We set up camp at a caravan park at Mannering Park and were well positioned so we could head out and do some caching. We teamed up with the Snakepiters and enjoyed finding this cache in a locality which is so scenic. Thanks to Gutentarkeys for hiding this cache and adding to our enjoyment of the area.

I’m sorry to let you know.. The logbook was swimming inside the container and it tore apart. I drained the water, but the logbook has to be replaced if it doesn’t dry by itself.

Our last day of caching at the Mega, we had a cacher from NZ Tawhai Team who had not been here before so we combined our caching with sightseeing.
The walk we had around the headlands was so relaxing, we felt that this would be a great place to live.
Some very sneaky hides included here.
Thanks for placing this cache Gutentarkeys

31 Mar 2018

Found with AlphaDeltaIndigo, Moneydork & morry9.

The Easter long weekend finally arrived and the excitement surrounding the 'Oz GeoMuster 2018' (GC74CH7) had reached its peak. With a day pass up my sleeve, I wanted to make most of my limited time at the Mega Event, so made plans to leave first thing on Saturday morning.

Morry9 was keen to hitch a ride and the tyres hit the road at 6:30 AM to make the trip north up the freeway to Morisset. Traffic was a breeze, unlike yesterday from what we had heard, and we arrived at the Showgrounds before most campers had woken. Once we had checked in at the registration desk and signing the official log, we met up with various geo-friends for a chat and tackled the Lab Caches on site.

We had no fixed plans, so when we tendered an offer from AlphaDeltaIndigo and Moneydork to join them for a day of caching, we accepted without hesitation.

First up, we went for the 'Be My Cachentine' series, followed by random Traditional Caches pretty much until dinner time, along with the remaining off site Lab Caches (most important!).

We ran into alnic39 at one point around lunch time and we teamed up for the remainder of the day.

Also, along the way, I tried my best to pick up as much rubbish and recyclables as we could fit in the geo-mobile, for an impromptu Cache In Trash Out (CITO). There was plenty of trash to go around but the area is definitely better off now. The CITO Crusaders strike again!

Thanks For The Caches to the respective Cache Owners and thanks to the Oz GeoMuster committee for running a successful Mega Event. Here's to more in the future! It is great to have a Mega Event in our own backyard!

I wanted to thank you for your cache by sharing with you my original geocaching poem. Yes I wrote it myself.

Geocache Poem
By DARKSIDEDAN

My endless search goes on and on
Looking for treasures of every kind
Always chasing just one more find
Putting past DNF’s out of my mind

I step out into the world outside,
Seeking what is hidden from me
What size, shape or form will it be?
Only time will tell, I can’t wait to see

Will I find my prize at the end?
I will search in the failing light and cold
Filling with despair having looked everywhere
Where is this thing that gives my life pleasure?

Looking all around from every angle
I read the logs and check the hint
I curse out loud as I walk in circles
Screaming the bloody thing it not there

As time flies by and I fail to see,
Never once stopping to realize
It always been there before my eyes
No need for sorrow, there’s the Geocache.

***** I am currently writing detailed logs because of a challenge provided by Project-GC. "The Author" Badge challenges geocachers to average one hundred words or more in each log. As of 31st January 2018 my average was 70 words per log, which seems close to the 100 target. However given that I have found so many GC caches, I have to write many logs with well over 100 words for a long period of time to get my average to the target. Apologies to anyone who finds the logs tedious but it is the only way that I can strive to attain this challenge. After 2350 plus caches (which includes all cache finds up and including yesterday), the average log length is just over 60. I am now entertaining the possibility that I might be able to achieve my task before this year ends. Progress has been better than anticipated.*****

While on our way to the Oz GeoMuster Mega, No_Tomorrow and I were picking up a few caches on the eastern side of the lake as our Day 1 activity. On our way to this cache we saw: trampolines (functioning and not), goats, dogs, and a putting green!! A quick find, which was good as the mozzies were coming at us thick and fast. Thanks Gutentarkeys.

On our way to the mega on Friday ziggiau and I made a few stops along the southern and south eastern sides of lake Mac and drove past my childhood house. Coming in from the South, this was our 3rd cache of the day and the second in this area.

The Oz Geomuster mega event at Morisset Lake Macquarie this weekend was my first Mega and I really enjoyed it. I found plenty of geocaches and met lots of geocachers. This cache was one of my finds. ziggiau drove while I tried to navigate and research our next location at the same time. haha.

Find #1907
We had the morning free so dropped back to the Gwandalan area, we managed 7 finds between showers. We would have found a handful of trigs as well, if the GPSr could read a zipfile, or maybe if I unzipped it first!
We stopped here on our way home - another nice little reserve they seem to have so many of around here. Found with the hint..... TFTC

I was waiting for the weather to cool down today so I could go for a walk but instead of cooling down it decided to rain instead. So Mr Minion said he would come with me and get this cache. We parked at the suggested spot and walked in, We were greeted by a neighbours dog and found the cache really quickly as it was out in the open. I replaced it with a little camo. Thanks for the cache Gutentarkeys tnln sl

Found after work on the way to pick up the boys. Having driven past (on the main road) the last two days I finally made the little detour to this cache, as I heard there was pirate treasure inside. Seems I could have caught the bus here as it went right past as I parked the car. Near GZ there was dogs in the property and they alerted every one around to my presence. Fortunately it was a quick find as the cache was uncovered. Unfortunately this is not a waterproof container. Fortunately it was all dry and good inside, hope it stays this way.
Thanks for the treasure points, walk and cache!

We have visited the area before but not this part of the bay. It did not take long to reach GZ from the car as someone has mowed the grass, which now looks like a park, and a neighbour's dog was having fun chasing a ball across it. I am guessing it would not be as friendly during summer with longer grass and fauna moving around. Thanks Gutentarkeys for a good hide, I liked the location and surrounds.
