Today, GeoJayne and I left Manapouri to make our way to Lake Tekapo as we continue our time in lovely New Zealand from the U.S. The weather was much nicer today and the views all along the route were stunning. We found a variety of caches, had lunch in a fun spot, and had a grand day caching. If that sounds like a perfect day of caching, then we would have to agree!GeoJayne knew exactly where to look for this one after we parked out of the way nearby. Unfortunately, there were actual BUGS in the container when we opened it, so we signed the log quickly and returned the container to its hiding spot. Thank you for the smiley and the fun!
Just getting around to logging the caches I found while visiting New Zealand from the U.S. with LaFavorite Cacher. We had a great time traveling around the country seeing the sights and picking up some caches along the way.Thank you for being a part of our adventures!Note: LaFavorite Cacher has sent in the answers for any earthcaches or virtuals required for both of us.
#7349Day 7 of our NZ trip, we have a spare day starting up the Remarkables, then chasing cool caches around Cromwell Its been a great day!A quick stop here, we took the TB..TFTC!!
#7347Today is our last full day in NZ for this trip, so we decided to head up into the clouds up to the Remarkables, then head out to the Cromwell area. Had an awesome day doing some roadsides, along with a few walks as well!Quick find while exploring Cromwell, nice to see a custom stamp, something you rarely see nowadays! TNLN SL, took TBTFTC
Queenstown to Wanaka today via Cromwell. We grabbed a few caches on the way.We parked up close by and walked over to GZ. Quick find, nice sized container - took a couple of TBs to move on, though didn't have any to put in TFTCTim and Viv - ddm
14:24 A bit of a strange one. Looked under a few bushes until finally saw the box pretty much visible out in the open. There are multiple places that seem to fit the hint to some degree, and it's a bit awkward to skulk around like that so maybe "Above Danger" would be a better hint? Also, reading other logs, I wonder if the original owner has moved or something as the logs say that the people in the house didn't really know about the cache until they explained it. Well, now that they know, I guess it's as described again Anyway, it's a neat cache, it's just always a bit awkward for me with these.Took out a TB.Kia ora! Paldies! Thanks for the cache, debsnz!#10130
No sign of any locals interested in the goings-on of the TB Resort today. Simply got in, logged, grabbed a bug, and got out. Tftc!
Day 10: South Island (Cromwell) and North Island (Mangere)Today was a day in two parts, beginning in the South where we left Cromwell for Queenstown Airport, but not before picking up a few caches on the way before the flight. After landing in a very windy Auckland, the second part of todays journey took me up Mangere Mountain for a little hike and back down to Mangere Bridge to cap the day off. An interesting day indeed, and once again, thanks to the COs on both islands for the multitude of caches of all stripes.(End of the cut and paste bit)This is the specific log for this cache:Something to look forward to, this one, as I had quite a few TBs to unload in a safe place. I somehow misled myself into searching the wrong places initially, but one of the neighbours helped me out here and pointed to the cache location. Dropped off the TBs here and signed in. Thanks for the large and safe cache here, and of course for the Letterbox!
I found this nice urban cache while waiting for my sister who is at the dentist this morning; grabbed the one TB that was in residence. TFTC, this gets me another Wheel of Challenge souvenir.
Found to the bewilderment of the property owner watching from her balcony. The lady didn’t seem to know what we were in about. Found and walked a bit up the path to sign when the neighbour and her dog came along to check out what we were doing. Had a nice chat explaining geocaching (though she thought the regular visitors to the cache we’re playing Pokémon). TFTC
Mm a little confused here but read the previous log & quickly found the cache, out of sight of anyone hopefully! TFTC
Picked up five caches this afternoon on a walk with the geohound around this part of Cromwell. I liked the greenway setup with walkways in a number of directions. Great foresight in designing the layout of the town in such a pedestrian/cyclist-friendly manner!
I am a little puzzled by this cache. My coords seemed to take me to a corner property where a couple of older folks were sitting on a first floor outside balcony. I said hello and made some comment about something “hiding on their property”, indicating their garden. The woman didn’t have a clue what I was talking about so I assumed I had the wrong house. Based on my coords it wasn’t clear whether the cache was on their property near the fenceline or a few centimetres away on the next property. I checked under the bushes on the next property but couldn’t find anything. So I went back, a few centimetres, to the first property (I was standing on the public berm the whole time) and spotted it there! Fortunately the people on the balcony weren’t able to see any of my searching! Are they the ones who are meant to know about the cache on their property? Bit of a mystery as far as I was concerned! The main thing is I found it without being arrested! #6175. TFTC.

It was good to find this TB resort as I have been carrying a TB for a month trying to find a suitable resort.
We are out and about in the area finding some caches and enjoying exploring and revisiting other areas again.
It took a while for our mobiles to settle down here but once they had it was a quick find.
TFTC and best regards

Yay! TFTC! Came all the way from Vancouver BC Canada to find this cache Thanks for being part of the adventure!
For some reason having a bad day by being on the wrong side of the road. Once I adjusted my location, went straight to the cache and was signing the log.
No tb left and none to take.
Thanks for the hide

During our holiday in NZ we, geosnuf and I, also look for some geocaches, like this one.
We have a beautiful day with enough time to look around.
We enjoy the beautiful nature, the pleasant encounters and the nice caches.
Thanks to the co's for bringing us here and for placing and maintaining this caches.

Thank goodness for the hint otherwise I would drive by this. Hope the neighbours don’t get too concerned about randoms poking in your garden
On of my target caches for the day. I need a letter box as part of a challenge. Thanks
I'm staying in Clyde for a couple of days. Headed into Cromwell early this morning. to have a look around and find a cache or two. An easy find here. TFTC
#2 of a before-tea caching loop walk, after arriving at our Matariki holiday home. Snow on the hills! Appreciate the reassurance about it being placed with permission. Discovered TB. Cache was visible - left out of sight.
Heading home to omakau after a Lsar training exercise near tekapo...decided it would be a great opportunity to spend a few hours in Cromwell knocking of a few caches..
Made that harder than it should have been by misinterpreting the hint ..luckily the streets were quite and I spotted it walking back to the truck..dropped off a tb..

Sadly I found this open & wet. Contents still there. Quick find as per hint. Someone was at home. Here to visit a friend. Log book wet so hard to write in. Left it out of the plastic bag but might need checking. Tftc
Was a little more exposed than I was expecting so I tried to tuck it away a bit more out of sight...
Dropped off 5 TBs who've travelled with me for a while...1 wants to go to Dunedin and other to travel NZ or the world (that part is a little trickier at the moment...) hope they travel well with whoever finds them next!!
TFTC - needed a letterbox cache for Jan and somewhere for some larger TBs so this worked out perfectly!

Stopped by cache when passing through Cromwell to retrieve 3 TBs (didn't spot DuckTales - Webby Trackable in the cache, though it's possible it's still in it as I was in a hurry)
Left TB in this cache along with others a couple of weeks ago and I hadn't realised that I didn't have them logged
A quick find and I will add in the TBs that dropped into it when I get back to the B&B
A target cache, because I would like to find as many letterboxes on this trip as we can. No probs in the end, although I almost started fossicking on the wrong property! TFTC debsnz. Quiet in this TB hotel today.
Day 14 of our road trip, and today it’s Alexandra to Haast.
A lovely day, perfect for driving and checking out the scenery. We stopped in Cromwell for an Adventure Lab and a walk around the historic area and picked up lunch. The drives up the lakes was awesome. Later we stopped at the Blue Pools, another highlight, plus some waterfalls a bit later on.
We did think we were running into 1 hour roadwork delays, but this proved unfounded. Apart from that, everything was awesome and good fun. Cheers y’all.

Its Day 14 of our South Island roadie & the journey is Alexandra to Haast. I love the drive from Hawea to Haast, the scenery is so beautiful & today the weather gods blessed us with the perfect day
Highlights along this route were the Heritage Precinct in Cromwell, the drive along Lake Hawea & Wanaka & Haast Pass & the walk to the Blue Pools
We did think the road was closed between Hawea & Haast as the traffic sign just outside of Hawea said it would be open only on the hour. RNZ got a bit more caching in & we timed it for 2pm but drove straight on through 20 mins before that & realised later, after we got through, that they were the roadworks!
RNZ loves a letterbox cache so this one was first on the geo-agenda for today when planning this part of our trip. Once we read the hint correctly a pretty quick find

Ah a letter box cache! these are not so common in NZ so it good to be able to find one. all was well here. and worth a fav point for actually being a letter box cache so good!
Today was set aside to do a geo caching day to Cromwell if the weather was unsuitable for skiing which is was , so we set off early at about 8.30 and finally arrived home about 5.30 with approx 41 caches in total including the adventure lab , so we were very pleased. we took a muggle who have been intro' to geocaching briefly on a few days before and so today was a big geo caching experience for her and as i had 2 GPS's with me she was able to use one quite independently by half was thro the day.
we enjoyed spending some time at the historic Cromwell area which none of us had actually explored before and where we had lunch at the Grain cafe.
we only had 2 DNFs and both were of puzzle style caches which we had solved but there was nothing at GZ.
thank you for these caches

On holiday staying in Wanaka and decided to check out a town we haven't visited on previous trips and today it was Cromwell. Had a good time exploring the town including the museum which is near the cafes in the town centre area and then some caching - a perfect day really!
It was now around 3pm and I was eyeing up the series as we had finished exploring the town. 'How long can I cache for then?' 'Until you get a DNF was the response' Well if that was not motivation to find them all I don't know what was! Woohoo local caches and series here we come!!
Nice quick find. No TBs to leave or move on.
Thanks for the cache.

Stamp and stamp pad replaced in cache since early April. This is the fourth stamp in the last three years, please do NOT remove the stamp or stamp pad.
*Another good find.
Nice day going from cache to cache with woolwood9.*
We soon had the container located. SL: **tm/ww NZ**
Thanks for putting this out for us to visit!
We enjoyed the drive / walk around!
This is listed as a Letterbox cache but NO stamp, No stamp pad, No separate stamp log. Needs an owner visit.

We're hunting Tour caches and anything that's not slowing down our objective to much. We scored 3x nights at Rotary Glen with max occupancy of 10 vans. The plan was just staying 2 nights but it's just to nice here. We never explored Cromwell, just raced through so we're going to make the most of it. The wind is already picking up and growing into a decent storm as the day progresses. It took a bit to settle for the phones and we went almost full circle untill the GPS called it. No trackables today. Thank you debsnz

Found as we continued our bike trip today. Unfortunately someone has swiped the stamp from this. Also the log book is a bit damp and slightly mouldy, which is weird because the inside of the box is completely dry. I left the logbook outside its plastic bag, to give it a chance to dry out a bit, which seemed more use than replacing it. Thanks for this cache, Debsnz.
Found with Spoonz2 My first letterbox... Spoonz2 tells me someone has taken the stamptftc
I'm from Whangarei and I'm on holiday in the South Island for 2 weeks with my mum and two of my kids. We flew to Queenstown, visited Milford Sound, Te Anau then returned to Queenstown. Later we're going to Wanaka, Mt Cook, Fox Glacier, Greymouth, and taking the tranz alpine train to Christchurch. We'll spend a day there then catch the scenic train to Picton and go across on the Interislander ferry. Then we'll have a day in Wellington visiting Te Papa then fly home.
I'm collecting as many caches this holiday as the family can bear so the focus is on special types - earthcaches, labs, letterboxes, virtuals, solved puzzles with the odd multi and trad thrown in.
I was keen to get this one but felt a bit conspicuous with a man from the next door house outside doing something with his car. I didn't know if the cache was in his garden or the next one or if he knew what I was doing. Thanks for your cache

Camping near Bannockburn and getting a few caches in Cromwell today. Easy find here. Been here a number of times in previous years as my sister-in-law used to live a couple of doors down. Tftc
Frustrating when the letterbox stamp gets taken as swag ( again!) Will get a replacement stamp in the cache in next few days when I am able to get to the shops.
A nice quick find thanks.
Ms_KR and I decided to have an extended Show Weekend break, and today we headed for Queenstown. A lovely day and plenty of little distractions was had by all!
Thanks to all CO's for publishing and maintaining their caches. Cheers.

On a 3 week road trip. Half way around my phone was damaged and I've lost all the data I had saved on it as to what caches I dropped in TB's. I'm pretty sure I left a couple here but can't remember what ones, if someone picks them up please grab them straight from me or let me know so I can drop them in. I don't particularly like these urban caches, a guy was out gardening and I didn't like to look while he was there but by the time I'd checked the hint to see where it was he had gone inside. Thanks for placing. debsnz

Found with Hevic on a long weekend trip through Central and Northern Otago. We wound up in Cromwell on our way through to Ranfurly so decided to grab a couple of caches while we were here. I couldn't pass up a Letterbox so we went for it first. I couldn't place my own stamp in the log, sadly - I'd left it in Dunedin. Ah well. Cheers!
Found easily (except got a little wet as there had been rain). Took nothing, left nothing.

There was a guy in a vehicle opposite watching us on our first drive passed so we carried on and found two other caches then came back passed. He wasn't there any more. We parked the car to give us some cover and I quickly signed the log and took a Signal travel bug.
Had a quick tour around Cromwell to grab a few caches, I solved a puzzle nearby so stopped along the way as it is always nice to get a letterbox. No problem finding the cache, but as I was putting everything back noticed the owner of the property at his letterbox looking at me. Was going to introduce myself but he turned around and went back inside, so obviously not the CO. TFTC.
Came for another look after dnf last time. Expanded my search area and know where I went wrong now
It is not letterbox, it is traditional one. I found there - it looks like my working glasses from vineyard Amisfield?. TB.
Nice cache in a quiet neighborhood. But it isn't really a letterbox without a stamp

Hello from Washington state. On day 24 of our 5 week road trip in NZ. My muggle hubby went to Wanaka today to visit the air museum and I bowed out to walk around Cromwell to geocache. Enjoyed my walk from the “mall” area through the park heading to this cache, especially running into the rose garden. Lovely neighborhood to be walking in. Very happy to be getting my 2nd letterbox in NZ. TFTC
Away for 3 full days and 4 night weekend again, with Rebel98 and Aiden29. We have in mind Queenstown, down to Te Anau, Manapouri, as far as we can up towards Milford and later Cromwell. We had some great adventures and some hot and weary walks and a lot of fun.
In Cromwell we are doing this letterbox cache. Rebel turned the car around just so we didn't have to cross the road! Cache an easy find today. No other book to stamp and only the normal log book to sign, oh well.

Gorby contacted me on Monday asking if I wanted to join him and Rebel98 on a trip to Queenstown for a long weekend. As I already had a week off in between jobs I was free to join them. We travelled from Queenstown to Te Anau, up the Milford Rd as far as we could, over to Cromwell before returning to Queenstown. Many adventures were had and many wonderful gems discovered. We signed with a variation of our own names or R. A. G.
We were heading to Cromwell and finally Queenstown to fly back to Auckland from our accommodation in Mossburn. We had to park carefully beside GZ so that we didn't step on the beautiful flowers in the verge as we stepped out of the car. The cache was quickly found in the logical spot.

We spent a night in Cromwell, because we wanted do gold panning, We were late, so we had to come back the day after. After that we visited this TB resort. Thanks
Replaced log book and added new stamp. Please do NOT take the stamp, it is not part of the swag
Day trip today to Cromwell. This was one of our finds. Dropped a geo coin and a TB here to move on. TFTC.

KrystalKath and I now have weekends off work, which is a problem when one needs to do any ‘regular office hours’ stuff in town. Any town in QLD. Trivia fact: Cromwell has the only Postshop postal facility in QLD open Saturday.
As such it required a trip to Cromwell today. After dealing with that business, it was time to track down a few geocaches.
This was my fourth cache of the day. Another Letterbox-hybrid to add to my numbers; except it wasn’t, as there’s no stamp or a second log book for my stamp. Accordingly I decided not to drop off any of the TBs travelling with me.
TFTC. Lovely wild flowers on the berm
