I was very keen to have another crack at this one - my third attempt. The first time, I was nowhere near, getting caught up on a feature near where I parked. The second time, I copped on, but it was not a great time to attempt (and I was missing some TOTTs). This time was round three - third time lucky, we hoped! - with Aurora11511 after school, and we came prepared.I can't give too much away here, save to say this is uber cool! The cache was extracted, Aurora11511 continued on for an urbex (urban explorer) wander, and I picked her up 25 metres away.Super-pleased and satisfied to finally get the smiley face for this one. Also fills a D/T gap, so another reason to be happy!TFT adventurous cache, Mermaid.Man ,';*={thanks}-*;', ,;:*(thanks}:*;*:{thanks}*:;, ,;{thanks}:;:*{thanks}:;:{thanks);, `;:{thanks};:{thanks}:;{thanks}:;' `*&;:{thanks}:;:{thanks},:;&*' `-+;:*{thanks}*:;+-` `-\\\||///-' __ \\||// __ / `------' \ | }-(______)-{ | \___/ |||| \___/ /_, |||| ,_\ \| |/
I called around this afternoon for an overdue check on the cache. A new container and logbook are now in place.
Came back and found it exactly where we guessed it was. We were more prepared this time with a few extra bits on us, but we made the find without issue. Log needs replacing as it's soaking wet and disintegrated but CO reports that it was fixed shortly after we logged this find. Ka pai. Fp for you for a very cool hidden spot that we definitely wouldn't find if it wasnt for this geocaching hobby.
Logging this as a DNF to bring the other half back as he's more adventurous! What a hidden place though, looking forward to ticking it off in the future.
Approached this one a couple months ago and was very intrigued on what to expect. Clicked as to the challenge on my hands pretty quickly, investigated, and decided I needed specialised equipment for which. Back today with good-enough equipment, so got stuck in and retrieved without much ado. The log-card is tricky to write on but managed to scrawl something, might be worth a proper log? Not many spaces on it. Fantastic cache, enjoyed the challenge!
I called around to check on the cache this evening. I'm pleased to say that all is well with it.
A great location, had to come back with some extra equipment but then things went swimmingly. Tftc!
Visiting the area to attend an event at Paraparaumu beach. Afterwards we had some time to collect some local caches. Targeted caches with high FPs. Got to GZ and initially no success. Reread the cache page and widened our search. Bingo. What a great cache. Happy to add to the favourite points. Thanks for the adventure collecting this smiley.
I called around here today and sure enough the cache is missing in action. For now I have placed a temporary cache in the form of a small bison tube with a strip of card in it for a logsheet. I'll sort out something better in the next few days when I've a bit more time.
Thanks very much to the last visitor for their extra Intel via private message.I'm out of town for 10 days or so. I'll disable the cache for now, and get it back in action upon my return It's a shame because I checked up on the cache a week ago.
The coolest DNF for a long time. Enjoyed the adventure to GZ, unfortunately the cache is no longer there. We found the nesting place but no cache! What a shame! Suggest owner will need to check.
It's been nearly 5 years since my dnf, so I figured it was about time I returned to try and rid my map of that sad little blue face! This time I was here with a previous finder, who pointed out something I had completely missed last time. Then all became clear. For once being vertically challenged worked in my favor, and the cache was soon in hand. Thanks for setting this up
Found it on the second attempt today. We had a really good look the first time with no success. We received some help from a previous cacher and this enabled us to go back and find it after dinner tonight! Such a unique cache - thanks for setting this one up
I'd been here previously with a muggle friend who, after a bit of searching, noticed something I hadn't. We investigated, but after taking into account the terrain rating, decided to leave it for another day. Well, this was the day, out with Supernannny, keen for an adventure. So, among some other interesting finds today, this one was indeed an adventure. I can't say anything much about it, just that Supernannny ended up doing most of the work (although I did help!).
Thanks for the interesting cache, Mermaid Man and Barnacle Boy!

Wow!
What can I say!
This was the Best Adventure Ever.
Was here about 6 years ago but had no clue .
Down in Wellington visiting family...and also did some caching in this area with TrinityNZ who was kind enough to drive me around .
When we got to GZ , TrinityNZ pointed out something I had missed previously.
I can't give anything away, but this was great fun!
Many thanks Mermaid .Man and Barnacle Boy...had a great time here!
So pleased we found the cleverly hidden cache this time!
Obviously a Favourite Point!

Wow. Really cool spot. Finding stuff like this is what makes geocaching awesome. Not even upset that I couldn't find the cache.
I called around to check on the cache this morning. I'm pleased to say that all is well with it.
DNF - had a really thorough look with muggles mum - no obvious rock to lock under. The general area looks like its had a big washout - perhaps the major hail, lightening storm and torrential rain that passed thru last week has effected the gz/cache.
Was joined by another GCer who was venturing out again with his family for the first time after along break from the game. He had no luck either. Will keep a watch on this one.

I came here to do the Bright Ridge Skyline Walkway - but while I was checking the track details I noticed this cache down the road a bit - and not only that, but it had an extraordinarily high proportion of FPs. I definitely had to see what all the fuss was about. Well it had me scratching my head for a while, and the hint made no sense. What could it mean? I had a look around and saw something that definitely needed checking out - even if it didn't help me find the cache. But it did. Nice. (First to sign the new logbook - I guess the previous finder mis-dated their log.)

Apologies for late log. Was with Nannie kerr on 5/11 but this has failed to log. Took us a few goes to get to it banning some to the gz from a safe distance
Not lamp post and it wasn’t able to find it even with the description and hint looked everywhere not sure if it’s still even there.
Incredible geochache and a amazing spot, but the paper is wet. Still can write on it though.
I'd given up and was just starting to explore this very interesting area when I had an aha moment. And there it was! Wonderful hiding place for this geocache and so many hints in the description when you read it in retrospect!
Got ribbed for my DNF by someone who had a watch on this cache I’d just done the pylon walk in the rain and was looking for some easy caches on the way home — and neglected to read the cache page Bit of a spontaneous return today, in my usual ‘footwear’, and found the cache quickly. Awesome challenge, thanks Mermaid.Man!
I called around to check on the cache this afternoon. I'm pleased to say that all is well with it.
Instructions seemed clear but no luck today. Grasss was high but looked all around. I’m assuming the nearby condom wrapper was not what I was looking for
At a recent (weekend long) event, as is often the way, the discussion of particular types of cache hides came up and this one was mentioned. I had not come across this one before, so listened the conversation and was suitable intrigued that on my way home from the event I stopped by here for a look.
I arrived at a quiet street on the edge of Paraparaumu (just as described). I saw the street light (just as described). I looked beneath it and found a cache (just as described). I returned the cache carefully and exactly as found (just as requested).
Cache and log were in excellent condition, safe and dry, as expected after recent CO maintenance. I really enjoy this type of hide location. Favourite point added. TFTC.

Cache #200!
We came for an attempt at this one a few months ago. Had a quick search to no avail, then checked the D/T rating! Expanded our horizons a little and realised what was required. We were on limited time, we were not really suitably attired and there had been a fair bit of rain, so we put it on hold. Came back today better prepared and under better conditions. Our favourite cache for location so far and a good one for a milestone. We tried to write in log but too soggy. We have a photo we can send if required. Don’t want to post it on here due to spoiler nature of it. Favourite point from us.
Thanks!

I called around to check up on the cache this afternoon. Unfortunately it is in a sorry state and needs freshening up.
I will disable the cache for a few days while I organise a replacement.

Despite the last maintenance being only a few months ago it needs some more attention already. Specifically to make the log signable one way or another.
I remember first looking for this cache a very long time ago and after a bit of head scratching finally realizing where it was. But I couldn't retrieve it at the time and it's taken until now to return with all the things I reckoned I would need. I was pleased to find the cache in one of the few possible places it could be very quickly but the log is not writable at all so a photolog will be attached. You might want to consider RITR paper here although while that doesn't turn to mush it's not that easy to write on if it gets properly saturated as has happened here. Thanks for the fun cache which has taken a very long time for me to get around to finding.
What a brilliant place for a cache! FP from me! Totally proof from muggles. Unfortunately, log totally sodden and unsignable, so took a photo. Tftc!
Having moved to the Kāpiti Coast a couple of months ago, I decided it was time to go and look for a few more local caches this afternoon. This was the second one we attempted. Wondered initially why it had a difficulty rating of 3.0 and I terrain rating of 3.5. Now I know! Had us baffled for a bit. However Mrs tbird thought more ‘expansively’ and had us searching further afield. Quite a challenge, but pleased to say we triumphed! Having found the cache, the first part of the hint makes sense! And, yes, worth a favourite. #4370. TFTC.
Came here the other day and figured out where to locate. Returned today with the child knowing he would enjoy the find. Very clever. Thanks!
I was in the area this morning and called around to check on the cache. I'm pleased to say that it is in great condition.
During lockdown we need to stay at home and I am disabling the cache until the situation changes

Wanted to get this one for ages. Made a go at it this afternoon and found it to be a nice and easy find. Will give it a favourite point due to its location. Thanks for placing the cache

#8826. I had to come up to the Kapiti Coast today to do some maintenance on one of my caches. So decided to pick up a few others while up here as its a while since I last searched this region for geocaches. I had stopped here once before and searched around the most likely places without success when I noticed something rather interesting. Followed that down and then it dawned on me what I needed to do to complete this mission. Today I was back with a tool to assist and soon made my way towards GZ. The cache hiding spot was instantly spotted but had to retreat to sign the logbook. I then wandered back to replace the cache exactly as found. Thanks Mermaid.Man and Barnacle.Boy for a very fun adventure finding this cache. Well deserving of a favourite for a lateral thinking needed to uncover its nook.

This one has got us stumped. We'll have to come check another day but no luck after a huge hunt.
Unfortunately a DNF for us. Spent a good 30 minutes hunting a 10m radius. Even went on a Bush walk this one well and truly beat us.
I was in the area this afternoon and so I called around to check on the cache.
I'm pleased to say that it was exactly where it belongs and in great condition.

Sorry....my bad....will return next time I visit here.
Was caching in the rain ; and my sister was waiting in the car, so was under pressure. Obviously not looking in right place...
Glad it's there...thanks for checking.

We have now moved to alert level 2 and so I am enabling the cache again.
Cache on!

During this time of crisis we need to stay at home. Now is not the time to be putting ourselves in situations where we might be a burden on our emergency services if something were to go wrong. We also don't need to be traveling around unnecessarily.
I have disabled the cache and removed the container. Be strong, be kind.

now that I'm a premium member I am able to award favourite points, so I'm awarding some to the more memorable and enjoyable caches that I've found, added a favourite point for this one for the location
Out exploring the area with ThatWeirdGuy04 and TwigNZ. TwigNZ had previously come here with no success but had a renewed sense of where it might be. As we neared GZ we became aware of how exciting this hide and cache were. This was a great experience. Log signed as Team STT.
I was out caching today with my son, and Stardust718, walking the P2P track and then going on to try to grab a few more caches such as this one before heading home.
It was almost exactly a year ago that I first tried to find this one, and since then I tried a second time a few months ago and was here a third time last week, where I made a breakthrough in my thinking but didn't have a couple of key things I thought I might need with me at that time.
But today was a different matter. I took my fellow cachers towards where I thought the cache may be, and soon enough we were happy to have found the prize. What a great location! Definitely worthy of a FP for the adventure, and the frustration!
Thanks for placing this fun cache.

Found today while out with TwigNZ and Stardust718 performing maintenance. Thanks for the cache, this was an interesting and fun cache and you’ve got a favourite point from me. TFTC
I stopped by for a quick checkup on the cache while I was in the area this afternoon. I'm pleased to say that all is well.
I came here again this morning on my way into Wellington to meet up with friends, in the hope that it might be second time lucky for me with this cache.
Sadly, it wasn't.

Cache # 4,709 - Had determined quite a while ago the wrong turn I took the last time I was here, 19 months ago, and had been eagerly looking forward to returning and correcting the mistake. Also really wanted to do it with Astro Hunter and Violet Butterfly, so all three of us set out on this Waitangi Day to turn one of my frowns into a smilie. This did not disappoint in any way, and is definitely a favourite point worthy! All good here, nice and dry. TNLNSL. TFTC!

What a great cache and really enjoyed the light show. Had a fair idea how to grab cache from a previous explore but unprepared last time. This time had some essential caching equipment and cache in hand. Deserves a well earned fav point. Thanks for the cache.
Having already found an archived cache in this area I had an idea where I would find this. TFTC and gets a fav from me
Out for a walk with bkj97 and Little Blue Hen. bkj97 obliged here and retrieved the cache which we stamped and he returned as he had found it. TFTC
Had previously searched for a cache very close to this location. That no longer exists. Have been waiting for the right moment to throw the switch on this one and receive appropriate illumination. Decided today was the day after a hot walk over brights farm track. Cache located and all's well that ends well. Tftcsl and favourite added.
Had a quick look, but the smell of a dead animal somewhere near by was too unbearable so we moved on
After a couple of DNFs I decided to stop and check on the cache while passing by. I'm pleased to say that all is well with it.
I think the cache is perhaps trickier than we first thought and so I have upped the difficulty rating by half a notch.

I'm afraid my name must be added to the list of those who didn't find this cache on their first attempt.
I found tons of great hiding places, all in accordance with the Hint, but none of them contained the cache.
No doubt I'll try again next time I'm passing through.

25/04, this is a very important date and timer in our calender. Anzac Day occurs on 25 April. It commemorates all New Zealanders killed in war and also honours returned servicemen and women. ... The date itself marks the anniversary of the landing of New Zealand and Australian soldiers – the Anzacs – on the Gallipoli Peninsula in 1915.
As the date was so important I decided that I would do a very good cache for the day to comemerate the date.
I contacted Mr-Mcgoo to see if he was free and he said that he was so after having a look at the caches that were avaliable we decided to settle on getting this cache as it was the perfect cache to do today. We decided to make sure we had all the required equipment that was required including a few of the following: 100metres of rope, caving equipment, including hard hats and suba gear. We were sure what we were going to require.
Finally once all the equipment was loaded we decided that it was time to make our way up the coast towards this cache. Arriving near GZ, we managed to find a parking spot that was not too far from GZ and then it was time to make our way to the cache. Once at GZ, Mr-Mcgoo managed to find the cache at the base of the obvious structure [xx(][xx(].
Well that was so easy , well was it.
Managed to retrieve the cache, signed and then replaced the cache back where I found it. Thanks Mermaid.Man and Barnacle.Boy for placing this cache here and for bringing me to this spot, TFTC TNLNSL (13376). I hope that more cachers attempt this cache as it isnt that hard to find.
Now it is time to make our way back home.

Came up the coast with Yeetrees to grab a cache. We decided to go for this one today. I came here some time ago but the weather gods were not with me. Today came armed with the right gear and the container was soon in hand. Please so say that everything is in order and the log was nice and dry. Worthy of a favourite point. TFTC

I am surprised so many cachers have had trouble finding this one. Maybe I was lucky to quickly figure out the secret. I found the cache and contents to be in great condition. A deserved favourite point from me. TFTC, Mermaid.Man and Barnacle.Boy.
Wow... that was cool!
Even cooler than I expected... so this definitely deserves a favourite point!
It was my first time here and after 5mins searching and from reading the logs I thought I might DNF...
But then I figured it out - yet still had to look under a lot of rocks to find the elusive cache!
Thanks for the fun MM & BB!

loved this one, it was nice and easy for us as it was where we thought it might be knowing the area, can imagine this would be even cooler for those that do not know about it, log book was nice and dry
Did a bit of a reccie on our way in to the Bright's Farm ridge walkway. Spent some time head scratching and discussing possibilities as we made an 8 out of 8 job of the caches on the walkway. Headed back here thinking we probably had it sussed.
Yep, spot on.
Clever bit of geocaching at play here. My advice: read-look-read[again]-think-then look [again]! That should do it!
All in order once we had the cache in hand. Log signed, then all safely re-hidden, just as found.
I visited this cache with team cacher zboy wonder.
TFTC - this one gets a fave point from me.

Looking for a few local caches after a big day geocaching yesterday.
This one is an example of the reason I love doing this! Beautiful position!
