Enjoying two weeks on Norfolk Island always wanted to visit, now Im here! And theres caches of course! What a beautiful spot all to ourselves! Nice little retreat for the locate and a lovely perspective of the bay!Thank youSlow Puncture (LJCC) for placing and maintaining this game piece, showcasing a lovely area and contributing to this great game for myself and others to enjoy. Happy trails!
Found with David343 on 8/9/24. Beautiful bay but a steep climb to the cache. Very picturesque. TFTC
Not so easy find. A bit of a climb for an unfit fella like me. CheersBundy
We spent a fun and productive week geocaching on Norfolk Island, as well as seeing the spectacular views. We also did several tours and other activities on offer, which highlighted different aspects of the island life and history. Thanks for this cache.
Found during a week of geocaching on Norfolk Island with GeoMates. It was a successful week and an adventurous one. Thanks go to Slow Puncture (LJCC) for placing this cache.
This afternoon we are attacking the SE corner of the island, with the possibility of completing all the caches on the island now actually in sight. We drove to the bottom and walked from the structures there. Luckily it wasn't as windy today as some previous days and the walk around the bay was pleasant. The perfect semi-circular bay here is very picturesque. As we neared GZ there was some discussion about where the cache would be. Most of us had our GPS pointing in one direction although previous finders from our SNIP24 crew had suggested it might be somewhere else. Anyway we ignored them (maybe they were trying to lead us astray) and headed uphill. Goldberry17 was first to spot the cache being the quickest up the hill. She waited until we had all 'found' it then extracted the container. We sat in the long grass (something you would never dare do at home) to SL and enjoy the view.TFTC # 6062
I must have had a brain explosion here. I reached the base of the grass hill and saw five cachers sitting at gz. I made my way to gz and once there I realised the only way I was going to get down was sliding down on my bum. Luckily there were no rocks lurking in the long grass. TFTC
Loved getting to this spot, even though it wasnt the toughest on the island, mostly because it was a good hiding spot at this location. Thanks Slow Puncture (LJCC) for placing.
A beautiful bay, a short scramble up the hill & hey presto!! Thanks for placing a cache here!
Found with oldmorty.Made our way to GZ and found four smiley faces grinning back at us.All sitting back, enjoying the sun, contemplating life, I guess. Thanks to the CO for the cache.
Found with Ris768 while travelling on Norfolk Island TFTCLog 3339Thanks for placing and maintaining this cache Slow Puncture (LJCC)
#14402 10:05The third day of Geo Adventure 2024 with a group of 30+ geocachers visiting Norfolk Island. Roaming around the island for a few days, a smaller group decided to tackle sthe East coast of the island today. It was certainly windy today. But the good thing about walking against the wind is, that when you turn around you will be walking with the wind in your back. Cache was found in good company of a few other geocachers.TFTC Slow Puncture
The last 25m were tough, but once I saw a plastic horse, I knew I was close. TFTC
#7565 NI Day 3After our breakfast event, harveyt2079 and I headed towards Kingston again to collect caches in the south eastern corner of the island. Some stunning views as we approached the parking waypoint and then a quick scramble to add our names to the log.TFTC Slow Puncture (LJCC)
Found with MummyPenny on a windy day here. We were against the wind and rain on our way back. Another interestin NI location to see. Thanks Slow Puncture (LJCC).
Relatively quick find with geomates. Interesting location and nice to see Ball Bay from another perspective. Thanks Slowpuncture and endeavour3.
Getting used to NI winds now, and being careful near cliff edges.Found and signed this one, thanks Slow Puncture (LJCC)
My buddies: bella at waggyNorfolk is gorgeous! Thank you Slow Puncture for creating & placing and to endeavour3 for maintaining this cache. I have enjoyed finding it and visiting this spot.Follow my story on Instagram @AlphaDeltaIndigo
Caching in the area with ADI this afternoon. We knew it would be dark soon so looking at the ratings of the ones so headed here next as this wa the highest remaining T rating. We drive close and then made our way up to make a find. The bay was very still compared to some of the other exposed faces. We completed the signing duties and re hid. TFTC
Wow, this is a fabulous location and a brilliant coastline full of shiny boulders. I had no trouble picking the right approach and pretty much walked right up to it, even though the vegetation is trying to reclaim the area. All good at GZ.
Day 3 of my Norfolk Island adventure. I can understand why people want to live here . Its a little bit of paradise. Wow so much history on the island, Im enjoying my wandering seeing the sites Some logs signed as N2OThis is my 12078find.Thankyou Slow Puncture (LJCC) for placing and maintaining this cache
Drove down to the oil terminal, and walked across to GZ. Some problems before finding the right level, but once done, the cache was quickly found.
Found with the Canberra group on the 4th day of our Norfolk Island geocaching adventure. Log signed as Dem CBR. Tftc
# 8952 Norfolk Day 3, team "Dem CBR" myself, iPlod65, Joolay, barb2e and contesta had another fantastic day of caching and exploration. We started down at Kingston with our host for the morning: Endevour3. It was cool and very blustery today, but not enough to discourage us. Then it was off to east coast to grab some more difficult caches. Lots of climbing today, but always stunning destinations. Finally off up to Captain Cook Pt for a couple of amazing spots.Well this was an interesting spot. Not just for the scenery but the fuel loading stuff. But for the cache. . Had a bit of trouble locating but contesta made the find. Some logs signed collectively "Dem CBR".Thanks Slow Puncture (kindly maintained by Endeavour3) for the Traditional Cache
Drove almost all the way . Wonderful views. How exciting to be at Norfolk finally. This has been the plan for so long. Lovely to be here with Contesta, barb2e, Strangetrousers and IPlod65, signing as DEM CBRThanks for getting me out and about Slow Puncture (LJCC)

Zoom zoom zooming around in Kermit (green not red) Logging as DEMCBR.Wild and wooly weather here today. This was a quick and easy find and here at Against The Wind today. Thanks so much for the many caches Slow Puncture (LJCC) and of course for giving me a reason and incentive to get out here, and to experience this part of the world in a different light
Over with IolantheK from Brisbane celebrating our 40th wedding anniversary [^]After arriving this avo and sorting out accommodation, car, phone SIM and some food we set off do do a few caches. Took us a few minutes to locate this one, IolantheK had the sharp eyes, although it was a bit of an up to get to it TFTC Slow Puncture (kindly maintained by Endeavour3)
T-Tech and I are visiting Norfolk Island for our 40th anniversary. We arrived from Brisbane and are staying for 2 weeks at Endeavour Lodge, and plan to get some R&R, see all of the sites, learn the history, and gather every cache here so we can claim the Se Dun Challenge This afternoon we headed out to Ball Bay to gather a few caches. It's a fun drive down to the bay, and the cove is impressive. Sure was a slog up to GZ! TFTC, Slow Puncture.
During July my wife and I took a break from Melbourne and spent a wonderful week on the Island - the first time for me (but hopefully not the last) and the second for her. Such a delightful place! I took my GPSr, with the traditionals downloaded (I don't really make the time to do puzzles or multis) and figured I would find a few as we went around the place. I never had any intention of finding all 41 of them, but somewhere around day 5 I realised it was actually feasible.
In the end it was a close call - one quite tough-to-get-to cache (Bird Island) I had to visit twice after not reading the description before my first visit and discovering it is really a multi and then stuffing up the calculations so I had an almost blind search for the cache; another (St Barnabas) was out of its hidey hole so took three visits before I found it among some fallen leaves nearby). But I got there and managed to claim them all.
In the interests of saving the limited data on my phone, I only look placeholder drafts during the week and am completing them back home, a month later. So with all due apologies, they are going to be pretty generic for the most part. But I will add comments about those that I particularly remember. No matter how detailed the final logs, I want to say a big thanks to those who have placed the caches and those who continue to maintain them. I had great fun finding them and they really helped make sure I saw as much of the Island as possible. So - a big and sincere TFTC

After only half reading the description and paying little attention to the GPS I decided to head uphill right at the main storage area. I continued to go up until I was high above GZ, with some very steep terrain in between. Somehow I had managed to turn this into at least a terrain 4.0 cache! Getting down to GZ was a little hairy at times, including at one point where I was basically free sliding through a clump of bush, not really knowing if I was about to emerge at the top of (or while falling over) one of the small cliffs! In the end it was lots of messy fun, but also quite tiring given I had managed also to make the cache on the other side much more difficult than it needed to be!

Exploring NI today via Geocaching and made the trek up the hill to make this find. Believe me the caching here is not all easy and I have the aching calf muscles as proof. A great hide as you get the best view of Ball Bay from GZ. Favourite point from us. TFTC
Last of the day. Headed down, and down some more and parked up, then walked. The cache was in a commanding spot, and really quite dry! Good views from here. Thanks for the cache.
I'm pleased to know there are no snakes on the island. There's no way that I'd be attempting that grass in thongs in Australia.
At the GZ, I was surprised by the odd thing out. How did it get so high?
Glad.we didn't attempt this on our first day when we stopped at the lookout Point and thought that was terrifying enough. No way was I going to take my rental car down that hill in those conditions. Today, on the other hand, was a breeze.
Thanks for giving me reason to come back on a calmer day.

This was an amazing hike across the cliff face. And such a beautiful day today too. Thanks for this difficult cache.
Today is Wazza9 & my last day of geocaching on the Island. We came 7 days ago, today marks that we have found every cache on the Island. 3rd cache of 10 today, a very quick find. Stamped log and replaced. Thanks to CO . Picked up trackable to travel.
TFTC,
Day 7 on the Island and back into some walking to caches. Our aim was to finish the 10 remaining caches on the Island so that we don't have to panic tomorrow.
Let The Apps go first to find this one, added a favourite and visited trackables.

Went straight up from the track but it looks steep going down. Great view from here and interesting geography - TFTC
On 15 October 2022 a new batch of prisoners were shipped out of Brisbane to spend 7 days incarcerated on Norfolk Island. It has now been 4 nights and and countless days into their sentence at Ocean Breeze Cottages.
The prisoner had been granted solo release today and had been very busy seeking out escape routes from this wretched Island. How is it this was not the obvious first place to go. There are possibles here in the right conditions. However today any plan for escape by boat would be against the wind .

TFTC Thank you for hiding this cache. You have shown us a new place and have helped make geocaching an enjoyable activity. Great views. .
Started a gentle ascent just after the gate, then across, ending up a couple of metres above GZ. Pretty clear this way and able to see what you were putting your feet into. Quick find at GZ and TFTC
Time to head to Norfolk Island to celabrate our 70th birthdays. When we were here before we were not geocachers, this visit will be spent gathering geocaches and revisiting our favourite places. Our appologies for the generic logs it does not take away the enjoyment we have found in the fantastic places they have been placed and all the different styles of caches that we are enjoying,

After lunchtime, we've shed Mum and Oliver, and are leaner now.... and the rain is even lighter, we headed out to Ball Bay and Kingston, remembering to fire up the Adventure Lab app too this time, grabbing another 20 smilies for the afternoon, and another GA locationless.....
Which way to go? We decided on an early ascent then traverse to GZ, which seemed to pay off, as the way down from GZ was grassy/turdy! TFTC! Beautiful views from the cache.... thanks....

After we dropped my mum and brother at our cottage, we drove over here to do some of the caches around the area. After parking out at the gate, we walked in towards the cache, and decided to walk up the area that was less steep, which was a good call because if you go straight across from the cache you're walking in knee deep grass, there is no snakes but there are still holes and cow craps to dodge.

Woohoo, all the greens turned into smilies.
Some puzzles are too tricky we think, but we are happy with our efforts. Ty all for all the caches.

Went to find this cache just before the showery rain set in for the day. Parked the car and started walking towards GZ. Arrived at GZ and after a short search the cache was in my hands. TFTC Slow Puncture
Is it ever not windy on Norfolk Island? Not this visit! While the weather was just light showers we ventured down to the bay which is just below where we are staying. Thanks Slow Puncture for the hide.
How interesting to see all the round black boulders here. We followed the path till we had to go high. Donned our mountain goat legs and up we went.
Cache was soon found. All is in good condition.
Thank you for the cache and fun we had finding it.

Found eventually after reading logs I.e. 17/7/21 for to find of a view. Thanks NI and the CO.
Was a bit worried about the contours on this but was pretty easy going really and found without any problems. The walking down the grass was a lot easier than the up too!
Trip log: Norfolk Island... Not something we had been planning to do but with GreyHams noticing travel here was starting up again, a good deal on flights and that this would count as a new caching 'country' this was indeed a very tempting location to visit.
Puzzles were solved, our double vaccinations certificates ready to go. A last minute change in the entry requirements added our PCR tests... but we arrived.
We had a challenge to collect as many of the caches as we could in the 48 hours we would be on the Island... A caching trip, but one that guided us around into every hidden gem the Island had to offer. All its beauty, history, scenic and quirky... and moisture! Humidity that sucked the energy out of every pore as we sweated our way about, but it was awesome!
An event the first evening was fantastic to meet with endeavour3, a wealth of local knowledge and assistance... both caching and the local area. It was great to confirm details, amend as needed and with a few DNFs help us back on track.
An honourable mention to the cows, especially the one that licked all over the car, the feral chickens (but not the roosters that wake up far to early and noisily) and the very friendly waving people everywhere we went!
Thanks for your cache that helped guide us about, and can all the caches be found within 48 hours... I'm very pleased to say that yes we could!

Aquilus1 and myself were on a mission: Go to Norfolk Island and clear the place out in 48 hours! This we achieved as we arrived well prepared, having ground out the puzzles (some with assistance) so that we had coords for nearly all hides before leaving Australia.
Brain tickler test & vaccination certificates in hand, we were shocked on arrival that our Australian mobiles had no roaming coverage....NONE! But, thankfully it seems most accommodation not only comes with a car, but comes with a phone as well.
I swear we did at least 5 laps of the island, I knew my way around very well by the end. NI is such a beautiful place, I am coming back with the family in a month and I already know exactly where I will take them.
On our first day we hosted an event and thankfully the local legend cacher, endeavour3, graced us with his presence. Some sage advice on the trickiest of NI hides was gladly received
And, it has to be said......OMG THE HUMIDITY!!! Canberra has none at all, it was a major shock to the system!
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
It looked worse on the map than it was in reality... nice hide.

I find it a lift to the soul being close to the sea, especially when the scenery is as nice as it is on this side of the island. Duncan and I climbed up the hill, one of us with the short legs found it a bit of a clamber. T4tc
This island is full of amazing viewpoints and it was nice to wander along to gz. This was the only beach we found rubbish washed up, so did mini cito to pick it all up. TFTC
Caching in the company of Team Welsh and mrandmrschosen today. We had a pleasant walk along Ball Bay until the GPS pointed directly up the hill to the cache. Nice find, thanks.
On a GeoTrip with a group from NZ. Found this today. Thank you for the cache
Last cash for the day out with Jude – E and Ingenious. It sure was a battle against the wind in some places today but this was found just going on dusk with clouds around Ball Bay just turning a nice shade for sunset thanks for scenic view placement yet again on this island
A little scramble uphill and Injeanious made the find. Nicely hidden under something that you wouldn't expect to find there. Many thanks for the hide and bringing us to this spot. No wind!

We made our way up the hill and soon found a likely spot where I saw an interesting object. Bingo! Tftc.
Found at 12.55pm. Drove to Ball Bay and then decided to walk the coast line to gain access to this one. Ball Bay is a vital supply line for the Island. Check it out while you are there. Nice little scramble to the cache. Sat a surveyed the view while I caught my breath. Thank you for the cache Slow Puncture.
My first DNF on Norfolk Island. Searched for a good 20 minutes at the obvious spot with a possible cache cover spoiler to no avail even with 0M GZ.
Oh well, next time I'm over it will be a must do.

Found it! We could see rain coming in the distance. We were all keen to have a look for it anyway. Really cool hiding spot. We got it before the rain came in. Thanks for the fun!
9th find on Norfolk. 9.20am.
It’s starting to seem that all the caches on the island are in a perfect location. Thought I was entering someone’s property as I got close to GZ because there was a beat-up car blocking the way. It seems that a shanty has been set up just up from the cache. Didn’t see the shanty dweller(s) this morning.
I took the long way down from the small car park above, zigzagging to GZ. This allowed for a good walk around the bay. The sound of the waves crashing and then receding over the rocks is nice.

Good news! Endeavour3 advises all the gravel has been moved and the road to Ball Bay (that should read: "the road to the cache" ) has be re-opened.
Bad news, he also advises Norfolk is under lockdown until June 30 and that seems likely to be extended.
Cache enabled.

Have been in contact with our resident maintainer on Norfolk, Endeavour3. He advises that access to the cache is still denied, the contractors unloading gravel to the island have taken longer than expected. Will check back in another month.
Well this turned out to be our nemesis cache??. It took 3 attempts to access this cache due to the gravel unloading exercise happening at this location. We finally got it today when there were no trucks working. We really feel that this cache should be temporarily disabled as the road is closed. We did not feel comfortable driving past the road closed signs and it is really too far to walk. It is a nice spot though. Thanks
Following the last 2 logs mentioning the road to the cache being closed, I have contacted Endeavour3, who is our maintenance contact on the island. End-3 advises that the cache should be disable for 2-3 months, as:
"The road to Ball Bay is closed. They need to resell the airport runways and they have built a ground at Ball Bay so they can import 40,000 tonnes of gravel. There are huge trucks & diggers all over the place.
There is no safe way to access the cache at present. It will most likely be another 2 or 3 months before the road reopens. "
So - disabled for the time being.

The road is still closed but as it is Sunday we were given the heads up that no one would be around. Wrong! We met a man who asked us if we had failed to see the signs. When we humbly begged to find the cache he was very amenable and off we went. Did not take too long. TFTC
The bottom part of the road is closed, so I parked in the car park and walked down the last bit. The last few days the ship was being unloaded, but today the wharf was empty and no-one was about. I suspect someone forgot to remove the signs. Just past the cache, close to the shore, it appears someone is camping. I was pleased for an extra hint, because there were many hidey holes here. The cache is hidden in a very sneaky one. TFTC Slow Puncture & Endeavour3.
