Attending QOGM and collecting a few cachers around the Longreach area and beyond - really seeing a variety of landscapes. Thanks to the COs for the placement of these cachers and showing us around the region.
This is our first and last time that we will get to experience a QOGM !!!Sooo glad we made it !!!We will never be able to thank the QOGM committee and others anywhere near enough for all their hard work to make these events with all the associated caches that go along with it Its been an absolute HOOT !!!Especially enjoyed the Saturday muster as team PORTONGA with The Morris, trads, multis, wherigos, all found with great teamwork, and a win in the photograph run to boot TFTCs and an amazing QOGM !!!
Tftc, took a drive out to Muttaburra today to do the series of caches on the way, some in town , and loop back. All were in great condition. Enjoyed our day , reached 41 degrees, which we found to be quite hot.
Found on a sojourn all around during QOGM 2023. A fun jaunt with lots of dust, mud and starry skies. Thanks Liz and Bruce and clear skies from TeamAstro. ?? Cache the planet! ?? Today we are headed to Muttaburra following the caches on the map to get us there and then back into Longreach. Lunch at the pub was spot on and the fun we had on the trail kept us quite active. This is our last time that we will get to experience a QOGM adventure. We will never be able to thank the QOGM committee and others anywhere near enough for all their hard work they do to make these events with all the associated caches that go along with it so enjoyable. We have watched each year as the numbers have grown and have read the will attend logs mentioning that as they have never had the chance to make it to one of these that they have made certain to attend this one as it is the last. We have attended 4 missing out on one due to COVID.The caches, as usual, have been a joy to do and have added to the experience when planning the trip of outback Queensland. The puzzles have helped us to learn a lot more about the area we are visiting. All caches that we have found have had good co-ords and are in good condition. Today there certainly was a lot more cachers out on the road.SL TFTC

Townsvilles 2nd and 3rd finest, burgo and myself, not necessarily in that order, on a mission to get all caches while out in Longreach for QOGM 2023. Paper logs have been signed either individually or as TSV#1s or similar Day 2 and the first muster out to Muttaburra. Picking up these on the way. The organisers had set up a forks multi, as well as the first series of the Flights of Fantasy Traditionals Picking up the caches in Muttaburra while waiting for the Lunch event to start. Thanks Liz and Bruce for placing this Traditional for my find # 4569
Today is going to be another big and long day with a bunch of caches to grab on the way to the event in Muttaburra. Then grab a few around Muttaburra township, before heading back to town for more caches and then another event. Oh today also starts with a breakfast event at the showgrounds. The breakfast was good and the fruit platter was a very nice add on. While loading the info into the phone it was great to sit around and chat on peoples thoughts for the day. With the team gathered it was then off to make a mark on some log books. We signed the logs as Misfits and saw a nice variety of caches, with size and terrain not an issue. We all worked well as a team and it was a good practice run for the main event in a couple of days. Thanks for the placements and the time in putting this all together.
Its ON, its Muster Day.We teamed up with JACS Team, Gcoven and Chamad for an action packed day. With papers in hand we made a mad dash around Muttaburra and the surrounding area grabbing a variety of caches along the way. What a crazy day! Thanks for bringing us here.#4004 - TFTC

Something special or unusual goes here:Found. The Generic Bit:QOGM adventure - I was able to catch a ride with Muff1 who were heading to the QOGM event and team up for 3 weeks of caching adventures. 3 weeks in a swag - will my back hold out[?]Day 15 : Muttaburra Muster Day. Today was all about team work. dghoffy joined muff1 and myself to make up the team for the muster today. DMB didn't just roll off the tongue as a team name so we considered that we all came from different States to form the team so Team Name of Three States was adopted and just 3S inserted in the logs for brevity! We managed to find all the caches we attempted today as we had fun making our way to Muttaburra for lunch and then back again to Longreach. we then headed over to Ilfracombe to grab a few more caches waiting for the sun to set to attempt the night cache. **SAs Leap Year Event GCA1DNA - keep the date free - 29th February 2024. - BOING*****Thanks Liz and Bruce for putting out this cache and maintaining it for our enjoyment. *** Logs prepared and published through GSAK.
A quick find, largely thanks to the four groups of geocachers arriving at GZ at the same time. It was a case of handing the logbook from one to the next and pointing out the cache location. Luckily it was tethered so its not going to go walkabout. Found while visiting Longreach Shire during QOGM 2023. TFTC, Liz and Bruce. =^.^=

Found on a trip with e.gregory1 traveling through western New South Wales and central Queensland to attend the QOGM at Longreach. After QOGM I made my way to Brisbane for a few days before a return drive back to Adelaide via the north coast of NSW, central NSW and the Riverlands. Day 19. A last minute plan had been hatched to make my by way to QOGM. Very little planning had been done but a very rough outline was in place and it was going to be a day by day trip. Its muster day! Time to see what this thing is all about. I teamed up with posums and The_Tritonz to form The Mexicans. A day of laughter with good friends while grabbing some caches and exploring Muttaburra. All was found safe and well at GZ. Great Northern escape 2022 Day 143. Barcaldine Day 2. Today's trip was to Muttabu5rra. It is over 150km so I headed off early. It was a nice drive and there was plenty of caching to do around town and along the nearby river. I ran into Domsky at a key point of the day, it is great to meet up with people in the wild. It was a long hot day, but I enjoyed myself and came home to Barcaldine in time to cook dinner and flop into bed before going out again tomorrow.
I continued west from town for the remaining caches along the road to the border of the shire.
Thanks for the cache Liz and Bruce

I’m off on my annual 6 week adventure and it is back to Outback Queensland to finish off what I started last time but got interrupted along the way.
It is nice and quiet on the roads this morning and I’m now in QLD and the weather can only get better to what Melbourne is at the moment.
After a couple of nice days around Anakie is was time to head to my next destination which is Lara Wetlands at Lara Station South old Barcaldine.
My trip has turned pear shaped as my knee has gone and so there is now very little walking so if you saw someone hobbling around that was me.
Hopefully a few days rest will improve the knee.
Came up from Lara station for the day to do the the sculpture art trail then headed to Muttaburra and decided to stay the night in the motel as the van was still down at Lara.
Got up nice and early to have a drive around town and locate a few caches before heading back.
After having a good look around town it was time to head back to Lara via Longreach but not before picking up a few more caches on the way out.
I pulled over here and was ready to replace the cache but I found one hanging in the tree so either I’m going crazy or it has been replaced already.
Thanks Liz and Bruce, RoddyC and Robbokerry TFTC.

Up at 7am for a short walk around town to pick up the remaining two local caches near our accommodation. Then, we headed to Muttaburra for the local outback show which was great fun. It rained heavily overnight (10mm plus) so I wasn’t expecting to get safe access to many caches along the way given that excess water and major flooding with Longreach cut off from civilisation early last month.
Found this cache heading back from Muttaburra to Longreach mid afternoon. The container is sufficiently off the ground to avoid the obvious recent flooding in this location.
The container is worst for wear with the lid broken (see photo), and the inner plastic zip lock bag badly deteriorated. I am very surprised that no one has mentioned it previously. Fortunately back in our car I found two new zip lock bags. One for the logbook and the other to insert the logbook and container within - double safety. This will do for another year but it would be great if the next finders can replace the container. TFTC Liz and Bruce.

After having a very pleasant night in the Council Camping area in Muttaburra which we thoroughly recommend for anyone passing through our main aim was to clear up the caches around here that we missed on our last visit before making our way to Longreach.
We were going to get this one on the way into town yesterday afternoon but you wouldn't believe there was a car parked right at gz doing a bit of work on his trailer. We stopped to make sure that they were alright and then came back this morning on our way out.
Today the coast was clear, although the area is still a little bit muddy the cache was found high and dry and the log book contains our name.
Many thanks Liz and Bruce for the cache,
