Townsville to grab the Palm Island LGA. Now only 2 LGAs to complete Australia.Back around Canberra and doing some side trips.TFTC. A return trip from Oberon to Goulburn with 60 caches including a CITO, 2 ECs, a multi and many interesting trads. Firstly along the highway and then through the pine forest plantation tracks. Amazing scenery with lots of deer, emus, roos and rabbits.Nice quick find.
Our day started at 7 am. We were dressed and in the car, ready to head down towards Goulburn with the specific goal in mind of completing as many of the Taralga Trek caches as possible. We arrived at our first cache just after 8 am, and completed our journey at 5 pm. We attempted 59 caches in total. Sadly, 6 turned out to be DNFs.Throughout the day, we had to battle the wind to keep our feet on the ground. Despite that, the views from most locations and the journey in between were great. We stopped in at Taralga Hotel and had a delicious lunch between the legs of our adventure. Given the sheer volume of finds today, my logs are pretty generic unless there was something interesting to add.ABOUT THIS CACHE: I had a bit of a challenge finding a good place to park on this one. The most logical place had dead wildlife blocking access. Once we had a safe place to park, it was a quick find at GZ. All in good condition. TFTC and the awesome adventure with my son!
Staying at Taralga and hunting down some caches in the rain. Last one today as the rains getting heavy. Los damp. TFTC
Reperio 18:50Today I headed down to Canberra to catch a flight to Adelaide for the upcoming mega event, and managed to pick up a few caches this afternoon along the way before finding somewhere to sleep for the night. This one was found after a short search at GZ. Gratias gazza959As a well spent day brings happy sleep, a well spent life brings happy death - LDV
Found with sebass19 on an awesome day on the Taralga Trek. We started at about 9:30am and starting heading back towards Canberra at 4pm. All up, 46 caches for the day which is great considering there were a couple of hard ones and DNFs. Very cold and windy day but the drive in this beautiful picturesque rural area was well worth it and the company made it even greater. We had beautiful BBQ pork ribs at the Taralga Hotel which made for a great chance to sit down and have a relax. Awesome effort from all the COs in this area!
Lots and lots of potholes here! A bit hairy for parking too especially with the wind but all was safe in the end. Quick find at GZ, cache is a little rusted though but that's just the nature of this container. TFTC gazza959!

Grateful thanks to the CO for placing and maintaining so many great caches to entertain me on my journey.

After visiting Mount Gray and completing an Adventure Lab in the morning, we decided to head towards Taralga to see part of the area we had not visited previously and to look for the caches placed along the roadside.
Accurate coordinates and the hint led to a quick find. The cache and contents were in good condition. Thanks gazza959 for this cache and the part of the series we visited today

#11342 - 10:01:00 AM; Set out on a cold but sunny morning with Sol de lune and Smittengranny on a caching mission north to Taralga then west to Laggan and Crookwell. Seventy three caches found and three DNFs for the day. Logs signed LL, Sdl and SG or similar. Most caches were found without incident and apart from a few soggy logs, were in good condition. A chilly wind came up just before noon, but didn't detract from an excellent day's caching. Apologies for the generic logs. TFTC gazza959
On this sunny cool Sunday morning I was out caching for the day with Sol de Lune and LuckyL10n. Our main target were the caches along the roads through Taralga, Laggan, Crookwell to Gunning and home to Canberra again. We started this series here as it had been decided to get out of town a bit as we could grab the others at a later date.
We took it in turns to jump out and grab and sign the logs, though on occasions all three of us were out searching. Thanks for this series gazza959. All logs were signed with some combination of LSS.

A day out caching with Smittengranny and LuckyL10n up to Taralga, Crookwell and Gunning before heading home to Canberra. A great day for caching, even with the wind being a tad cool...
Lots of caches found today and this was our next one. No issues at all and our names were soon in the log.
Thanks gazza959 for the history and showing us the area.

A day off today, so I have decided to do the Taralga series of caches. We finally have a weekend without miserable weather and it was a great day to be outside. A nice quick find, thanks gazza959.
Thank you we hit this from Goulburn right up - what a great way to spend the day, everything was nice and green. Thank you for the cache.
We based ourselves in quaint Binda last night and apart from a horrific storm which inncluded hail (not happy with dents in car) it proved to be a good base for many of the geocaches in the area. The countryside is looking awesome and we enjoyed the rural location, wonderful views and history. Thanks to gazza959 for hiding this cache and adding to our enjoyment of the area.
On our way home from the St Arnuad Mega, decided to complete this series. Quick find, stamped the log and replaced. Thanks to gazza959.
TFTC,
Completed the second half of this power trail in January 18 when we were washed out trying this first part.
Back today and again looking forward to morning tea at Tarago.
Good to be able to safely stop with a van.

Cache 4817 on 10 Mar 2019.
What is not to love about a long weekend - an extra day to go caching! I have a goal to reach 5000 caches at the QBN mega, so a few extra cache trips are required. Power trails are not my favourite type of caching, but doing them with caching buddies makes them bearable! So Tankengine, dty73 and myself headed toward the Taralga series today for some numbers.
TE has most of them already so he was driving, and giving us such useful advice! We also picked up other caches along the way, well why not! All caches found in good order and according to the hint, unless otherwise indicated.
This cache: quick find

Our goal today was to cache the Taralga Trek from Goulburn to Taralga before continuing on to the Wombeyan Caves. It was a lovely drive and we enjoyed the scenery. We saw a few kangaroos and did some birding at the various stops along the way. Many thanks to the CO for having laid the trail. This one was a nice quick find once at Ground Zero. We signed the log book and then replaced as found. Thanks so much for the cache and greetings from Zimbabwe
Having a couple of hours to fill I opted to head out for a little solo caching.
Taralga Road looked interesting to this Brisbanite so off I set.
Totalled 30 finds in just over 2 hours, not too bad for an old fella! LOL …
Had to tread carefully here as there are quite a few occupied spider holes in the ground.
Big enough to stick a finger in but I wouldn't recommend it.
Took a couple of pics then a quick find for another happy face.
Made our mark & replaced as found.

The start of a 3 day drive to the Sunshine Coast, The first goal of the day was to find 50+ caches, each at least 1km apart for a [NZ challenge cache](https://coord.info/GC3QY6Q). This series helped to achieve that goal. Due to the distance limitation, I only found every 3rd or 4th cache, so will back to complete the series another time. All easily found. TFTC.

International Geocaching Day today so Joolay and I headed out to grab a bunch of caches. Goulburn parkrun first and then caching. Finished off the Taralga series and grabbed some others on our list. TFTC
Out and about with Kittykatch and decided to go back to finish the Taralga Trail. It was a very chilly, windy day to be out and about but still good to see some country views. We knew there was some rain about and for some got a bit damp but mostly beat the rain. Thanks for getting us out and about.
Old log has fallen apart and was full, so have removed the pieces and placed a new log.
Good to go.
Good to go.
Miss Stormcatcher took some photos of the sunset and the baby sheep aka lambs and Mr Stormcatcher made the find. Sad to see the dead wombat near GZ, wish people would slow down.

Bikerbuddy was very pleased with himself here, for spotting the hiding spot as we pulled up.
Thanks
This was a shadier little spot to pull over. I guessed at the likely spot from the car and gave myself a tick for getting it right, first go. Thanks
Needing a concentrated area to tick off enough smileys to make a dent in the Mythical Creatures challenge, k.e-a26 joined me for a “quick” run around Goulburn, Taralga and Crookwell. Sun shining, wind icy but enough PnGs and by nightfall we had ticked off 50 finds. When I had passed along this road a year ago, I had been more intent on tackling TRLT (south) than starting this, at the time, partially completed power trek, but after an impromptu invite recently for the Trek Too section with HappyUke, decided to return today and finally tick off the north/south run. One of the trickiest places to pull over today and not because of a corner in the road. Log full and now my boot is full of log. K.ea barking happy!
Had done a big whack of this series a fair while ago, but notice now that there are more! So decided to come out and collect some more of them today! Not sure it was a good day for it, what with the extremely fierce - super icy cold wind (and not to mention the constant horizontal drizzle). Not that I really got wet, the wind dried me as fast as the rain could wet me! The car said it was averaging 3-4 degrees outside, but with the wind chill, I recon it felt like -10! One thing I though odd was that many of the wind turbines around here were stationary! (Others were going flat chat!). I would have thought on a day like today, they would all be going flat out! Maybe I need to report a needs maintenance .
Nice quick find here, thanks G959.

A massive day was planned to clean up the area around Goulburn and do all of the Taralga trek. Started with a parkrun in Goulburn and then took the clockwise loop to Crookwell, Laggan, Taralga and back to Goulburn. Weather wasn't really on my side, cold and partly wet, but no soaking rain so I pushed through. Great caches and a good series with lots of different containers and hiding spots. I had a great day, thanks to all the cache owners for putting out the caches.

The Rats, steeba and Hoojar once again teamed up for another fun day of caching in the highlands. With our intended target being the Taralga Trek we made our way to Goulburn late on Saturday where we grabbed a few local caches before heading out to Peejar Dam where a very chilly night was spent under the stars. Sunday had us snaking our way around the Upper Lachalan area of Crrokwell and Taragla before heading back to Wollongong to complete our 24 hour adventure.
Thanks to all the CO's for your cache placement, they added to gtreat day out with the boys.

Out and about on a 24-hour spree with The Rats and Steeba. We headed down to Goulburn on Saturday night to grab a few of the local caches that we had not yet collected, and then out to Peejar to spend a cool night under the stars. Sunday morning we went into Crookwell for breakfast, before following the Trek series into Taralga, and back to Goulburn. Finally we headed for home via a few more caches in the Highlands.
I ended up with a touch over 100 caches in the 24 hours away from home (100 was my goal, as I work towards 10,000). Some excellent caches were found. Thanks to all of the caches owners for their efforts.
Cheers

Another little caching sojourn with The Rats and Hoojar- not quite a weekend away but with a night out. We started in the darkness in Goulburn before camping at Pejar, into Croowell in the morning then across to Taralga and back to Goulburn via the Taralga Trek. Some nice countryside! Then back to Goulburn and slowly made our way back via the highlands and a few more find.

OCW Stumble'sMate for an epic geocaching trip. As usual, our day was alot longer than anticipated but that's what you get when you geocache. Sorry for the delay in logging! TFTC all.
OCW StumbleTrip today. Our aim was to do the trip between Goulburn, Taralga, Laggan, Crookwell and back Goulburn. All up we attempted 67 caches of which 4 were DNF's. Time wise we took way longer than we had calculated but then we didn't really have a time limit! Thanks to the cache owners for placing all the caches we attempted today!

Found ourselves heading toward Taralga and thought what better time to grab everything in this series. The weather was on our side and we never missed a beat. We left home mid-morning and were sitting pretty in Taralga before lunchtime. A good series. Thanks for the caches.
This year (2018) I have been trying to get more caches to boost my total finds. This weekend I decided to do all the caches from Goulburn to Taralga to Laggan to Crookwell to Wayo to Goulburn. Sadly I was going to do this trip on the Saturday but Geowife (Blueiris) was feeling unwell and I stayed home to look after her. Today 21/1/2018 she was feeling better so we headed out to complete the previous day’s plans. I wanted to try and get 69 caches in total. I left home at 0630 and headed to Goulburn for a lovely McDonalds breakfast before starting the massive caching day. The first cache of the day was GC74HCZ, a quick find and almost all the finds for the day were quick. I wanted to set a fast pace of approximately 8 minutes per cache including driving time. I am happy to let everyone know that I got a total of 72 caches for the day in 12 hours exactly. Not a bad effort at all if you ask me. The wildlife along the trip was fantastic. The animals that I spotted consisted of Wombats, Kangaroos, Wallabies, various Lizards, Spiders and so many bird species that I could not possibly name then all. The first part of the trip was also done in thick smoke from the Taralga Fire. This fire has burnt about 960 hectares (about 2372 acres). The bushfire was burning about eight Kms to the north-east of Taralga and north of Bannaby Road area. It was burning through bush and grassland in a south-westerly direction. Fire crews from Taralga were fighting the fire with additional crews from Marulan and Bungonia joining in to help. These crews consisted of 77 fire fighters supported by numerous aircraft and heavy machinery. Smoke from the fire could be seen from up to 200kms away. Anyway enough chit chat, thanks for the cache and for making my caching experience today so much more fun. Please keep up the good work by putting out more caches. Sorry for the generic logs but with so many caches found in one day it is impossible to put private logs for them all. Signed the cache DSD, Darkside or Darksidedan depending how big the logbook was and how much room there was in it.

After a big night at the Wingello camp, we gathered a group together and headed off to do this series. We were supposed to be with Nana Nel, wazza9 and Aries44, but a little rain caused that group to head for the comfort of a tea room in Taralga - not very committed are they

Today I’m driving from Goulburn to Sydney via Bathurst, and my plan was to see a bit of countryside and the local wildlife. It certainly is raining cats and dogs, so I’m covered there. I was hoping I wouldn’t be tracking so much countryside back into the car after each find!
