We love these types of caches. Bet this view has changed alot over the years. We also got the adventure lab up here and the kids hooted with laughter when they saw them. The owners must have wondered what was going in! There was no log so we have added one in a plastic bag but future cachers should be careful that it doesnt blow away because its quite windy here and there is nothing to clip it to in the cache. TFTC

nice attention stroll TFTC

28-Jan-24
We walked a loop in the area, picking up caches as we went. We had spied a zigzag path as a possible access route. However, we left it and headed onto other caches. We got to the point where this was the only unfound cache. So, we used a different zigzag path to walk to the GZ. Super quick find. We replaced the log and zip lock bag as there was no sign of either. Then, back down the originally sighted zigzag path to the car.

I came to New Zealand with my wife on honeymoon
It is hard to log all the caches, I found here in New Zealand, so excuse my mass log for caches around Orewa, please
At first i started with caches around Estuary Cycleway, then to Red Beach, Hatfield´s Beach, Millwater and Silverdale. Some of the caches are now disabled as i can see, and some of them were disabled, but were on place.
After consulting with owner I made maintanance on some of disabled and missing caches.
I found many really nice caches...it was awesome, but i think, that some of them (for example Bison caches) have too low D/T combos...but owners are really helpful, so I managed to find each of them. I usually borrowed bike from my brother in law and then in the early morning, or in evening went geocaching. I really liked that routine. So I´m really thankful for all the caches on/near Estuary
I need to write here, that I really like nature in NZ...its a big difference between Europe :/
So – TFTC, guys, and especially The Wonder Stuff for placing and G-2 for placing and hints...and sry for mistakes in my poor English...have a nice day(s) there and u should come to find some caches here in Slovak Republic

Decided at short notice to spend a week in Orewa as our original camping plans had been stymied by the cyclone Gabrielle. Quite a few branches and sticks lying about, but otherwise there doesn't seem to be too much damage here. Lovely weather now and a great geocaching trail around the estuary to explore. Lucky us! We are really enjoying ourselves. Cache is all good. TFTC

07-Aug-22
A nice quick find. Thanks for placing your cache.

Ms_KR and I are in Auckland Auckland for a break and we are exploring the region while we are based here. Today was damp in the morning and the rain got heavier the later in the day it got. We had a great time despite the weather.

Thanks to all CO's for publishing and maintaining their caches. Cheers.

31-May-22
Decided to give the bikes a bit if an airing and came and got this cache. The area is quite built up now but still a bit of a view. TFTC

Nice easy find here when you know what to look for.

05-Mar-22
Wandered on up the double "S" shaped path, to where I found the cache hidden in plain sight amongst an area with relatively new housing which I'm sure is quite pricey with the neat views they have over Orewa! Cache well and in good condition. TFTC G-2!

A beautiful, sunny day enticed me to head outside on a caching trip where I ended up walking around Orewa, Millwater and Silverdale for 8 hours between 11:30am and 7:30pm! In total I made 40 finds including 30 traditional's and 10 AL's... Thanks very much to all CO's who placed caches around this lovely area!

24-Nov-21
Nice little find!

07-Nov-21
Easy find for 9 year old as we've found a similar one in the past. Grass has recently been mowed so easily spotted when off. Very clever. Thank you.

Headed out to explore this area with the family and NZ Travellers. Optimistically we brought a picnic along even though the weather was not looking like it was going to play ball but in the end it was hot, sunny and quite humid so a great day for a walk and a picnic!!

Quick find here and we were on our way again.

Thanks for the cache - signed log as SEAC

After a few days rain, the weather finally cleared on Labour day for a much needed outing to stretch the legs and grab a few caches. Had a picnic in Orewa with fellow caching bubble mates Keylev, NZIceman, Laval and Cragger and enjoyed a walk in the sun to a few caches.
Easy find between muggles. TFTC!

13-Oct-21
We got soaked as it started to rain between here and the last cache but we found it no problem. TFTC

A quick dash up the path to this GZ before finding then a leisurely stroll down to the next stage of my search.

Moved the car to make the next piece nice and easy, a loop walk around Arran Point. I ended up getting all 7 on offer and that was nice. I parked near the 'flag it' cache and had a quick feed before setting off on the loop.

Another weekend day with mrs c out of town and just some modest local-ish goals to achieve. I had intended to do most of my outstanding Millwater/Orewa caches but a persistent drizzle and then a proper spell of rain meant that it was just Millwater. The afternoon was all about collected a TB that had been located amongst a swag-haul dumped in a park near Manakau City, facilitated by a UK cacher on FB. Quite the mission but I rescued the TB and declined the accompanying swag (stolen goods probably)

Nice find with woolwood9 today.
*We enjoyed the drive / walk around the area.*

26-Dec-19
Headed out for a few more caches around the estuary this evening. Headed up to this one and made a QEF as I had a very good idea what to look for. Unfortunately the log has seen better days so made my mark as best I could. TFTC!

Find number 6558. Decided to do a couple of days caching in the area. With an emphasis to try to clear the Dalmatians. After parking up in Riverhead and riding the bicycle from there. I only got a few done before the batteries on my GPS went flat and when I lost phone coverage I had to change plans. In the end I ended up with 29 caches today and spent the night at Murawai. This is now day 2. Murawai, Dalmations and then onto Orewa for the night. Another 50 caches done.
After checking in at the campground I decided to cycle this trail and collect the caches along the way. Building in the area had me worried but all quiet at GZ. And the nature of the cache made for an easy sign. Thank you for the placement.

12-Oct-19
Up the hill we went and made a quick find of this cache. It was hard to sign as the paper/card is very damp.Another great view.A few more houses here we imagine than when this cache was first placed.

02-Oct-19
Soo cool to discover a geocache 2 doors down from our new home!
Book was too soggy to sign.

09-Aug-19
Well no view for us in the dark but the kids liked the big ball chandelier we saw through someone's window. There are a lot more houses on this street than the geocaching map shows. A quick but neat find although it was too wet to sign. TFTC Smile

31-Jul-19
Found it, but log was to wet to sign. Seen this camo before so it was a quick locate. TFTC

25-May-19
Decided to take the opportunity to collect a few caches around this part of Auckland as the weather was forecast'd to be excellent and clear, and I had not been up here for a very long time. An advantage was also that it gave me an opportunity to go for a bit of a bike ride once the sun came up.
Started out the day in the dark and still managed to make it home by mid afternoon so all in all not such a bad day to be had in the sun.
This area has changed so much since I was last out here, never thought that there would be so many houses about and still plenty of building continuing. Pretty much had the entire place to myself and made a quick find.
A big thanks to all the Co's whom have taken the time and effort to maintain the caches.
thanks for the cache, thanks for the placement.

07-Apr-19
I joined up with a muggle friend for a leisurely bike ride around the Orewa Estuary today and gave her a bit of an introduction to geocaching along the way. Another nice easy find this one, TFTC!

15-Dec-18
We had just finished a Christmas lunch with the Grandma and Grand-dad and were about to head on home when Mrs. Liver Bird mentioned something about how the day had turned out so beautiful and it would be a waste to just head on home and do nothing to take advantage of the nice weather. So, it was decided to grab a few caches while we were up this way before heading home.

We pulled up across the road from GZ and headed on over. Looking at the area around GZ there was only one place that this cache could be, it was just a matter of where on the item it was. Mrs. Liver Bird and Mr. Kiwi started looking and the second place that Mr. Kiwi looked was where the cache was. The log was signed and the cache replaced where found.

30-Nov-18
I decided to have a walk in the morning before spending the day at the conference. Apparently it takes my son 1.5h, so I though 3 hours would be plenty! I had so much fun!! Thanks for all the lovely caches around the estuary!!!

04-Aug-18
Seems like the first sunny saturday in a long time. Dusted off the bikes and thought we would re-visit the Orewa Estuary Walkway and see if we could find some caches along the way. Took a moment on this one to get the right location. Then we got the aha moment. A great cache. SL. TFTC.

14-Jul-18
There is so much building going on the area is expanding by the minute. It's hard to believe that there was only one house just over a year ago.
A builder was very close by but had his back to us the whole time and his ear muffs ensured he knew nothing about what was going on behind him.

21-Jun-18
What a view even when it's wet. tftc

17-Jun-18
Today was the day that I wanted to pick up a few new and a few old caches in the Millwater area.

Nice view at the moment.

Cheers for the cache.

17-Apr-18
Another tuesday morning with work in Silverdale, so another short side excursion to Milwater to pick up a cache. I drove past the spot where I was expecting the cache to be, but followed the GPS up the hill to an even more impressive view. Quickly spotted the cache. Thanks.

22-Feb-18
After observing the nice views, quickly located the cache. Wont be long before this area is built out. TFTC Big Grin

Looks a little different from the last time we came to these parts

07-Jan-18
Walked up from the "Wall" cache. Thanks.

03-Jan-18
I'll bet there are many more houses around now than when the cache was hidden. TFTC.

01-Nov-17
Out and about for a spot of geocaching fun today, in the fine company of Gorby. Nice weather today, which only enhanced the view from up here. No issues making the find here. Looks like the neighbouring houses are near completion. Cheers for the cache placement!

01-Nov-17
I was out caching today, Lostcourse decided to come with me to get our FTF for the month of November, and together we did various other caches that he had done and that I had done and obviously ones we both hadn’t done, all up we did about 6 hours of caching in lovely warm weather.

Quick find here by us two cavalier caching cronies. We both paused here a bit afterwards and commented how close these houses are together. 1.5m by my reckoning! Bugger that... give me space please from my neighbours. Nice one G. thanks for the cache.

02-Aug-17
Nice quick find after a round of golf at Wainui. Daily cache sorted. A few new houses being built at gz. Good views just a bit of a dull day today. TFTC

Always enjoy these caches !
Had a look down to the inlet....
Not many muggles around this afternoon on a public holiday !

Exploring the area again with Merlot58 and Jag50. Thankfully there were no builders up here on this beautiful Sunday. Merlot made the find, while the rest of us enjoyed the views from the above the earthworks that we spotted a few weeks back from across the estuary.

04-Jun-17
I can't believe how quickly this area is growing! A nice quick find here and then we stopped to admire the view

04-Jun-17
Merlot58, Aiden29 and ourselves returned to the sunny Orewa to collect some new caches that had been published since the last time we had been up here. A long walk around to get here but a quick walk back to where we had been.

28-May-17
Lots of new caches in the area, got a new bike that needed a test run before riding to work tomorrow and need some caches to continue my numbers for a challenge so this circuit was a place to head for. No issues with builder muggles on a Sunday evening. TFTC

27-May-17
Continuing the wander around the estuary led me up here. Lots of construction workers about so happy to make a quick find. Pretty sure no one else had found it but didn't turn the log book over as I was trying to be quick so signed under the gumph about what geocaching is. Beautiful and misty over the estuary today. TFTC

27-May-17
Seems like muggle central here today with all these blokes in orange jump suits, but carefully timed my approach and quickly signed below TW. Thanks for the fun cache
