I am regretfully archiving this cache since there's been no response from nor action by the cache owner within the time frame requested in the last reviewer note.
Hi tombatnz
This geocache was brought to my attention as being in need of an owner maintenance visit and after my previous reviewer note, there has been no owner response. The cache owner needs to check on this cache ASAP and either replace it or archive it, after picking up any geo-litter. See the [maintenance section of the Geocache Listing Requirements/Guidelines](http://www.geocaching.com/about/guidelines.aspx#listingmaintenance).
I've added this cache to my watchlist, and I will check back in four weeks to be sure that the maintenance has been done. In the meantime, I have temporarily disabled this listing. When the maintenance is completed, the owner can enable the listing by clicking on the link below the cache name to return it to active status.
Whatever your intentions, please **post a note** here on the cache page (not email) to let us know that you are still active and maintaining the cache. If a month passes without seeing a response, then I'll assume that this listing should be archived.
Please note, that if a cache is archived due to lack of owner maintenance, the cache is unable to be unarchived.

We are on our summer holiday, we usually take a few weeks and travel around the South Island, but this year we are heading around the North Island. Heading up the West coast and back down the East coast. Finding only a select few caches along the way, we are mostly targeting some challenges we have qualified for, some large size caches, some that fill gaps in our date placed grid, a few D/T combinations, some with lots of favourite points, letterboxes and anything else that grabs our fancy.
I had a fall on day two of our holiday, while out geocaching which has resulted in a fractured bone in my leg and I am in a moon boot and with crutches and I was told to keep weight off my leg. So I am only limited use when it comes to our trip now. I tend to stay in the campervan and just hand out suggestions of when and where GK should search.
I sat in the van while gk wandered down to find the cache, it took a bit of luck to put his hand in just the right spot to find it. While he was gone I was chatting to a lovely old fella, one of the originals of Pauanui, he was sharing some of the history with me, a really interesting conversation.
Thanks for placing this cache and thank you for the smiley.

Thanks so much for this. A hot summers day, exploring the area with the family. Cheers
Nice easy find. Log was mising though, so we added a new one.
Taybeedragon and I went on a tour of the Coromandel - one of the few places of New Zealand, especially of Te ika a Maui, that I have yet to explore throughly, and from there along the coast to Opotiki to see one of my many, many sisters. From 18 December to 5 January we found over 400 caches, including 12 adventure labs (60 caches), 20 or so TMGTs and a host of virtuals and earthcaches. And I hosted an event to see the sun come up on New Year's day - surprisingly popular given that it was at 5am. We climbed a lot of hills, saw some amazing beaches that were quite popular despite (or because of) the insane access to them, walk a lot of bush, entered and explored 8 gold mines and generally had an awesome time. However I am glad to be back, but now is the hard part, and I fear it will take just as long - logging!

We came to checkout Pauanui Estuary this morning. Quick find but no log. Left a temp RITR log to help it along. Cheers.
Day 11 - Monday 28 December - Pauanui - Puketui Valley - Whangamata. Another full on day and hills to conquor!
The Seagnoid, Zara, Toby and I are off on another geocaching escape over Xmas, this time to the mighty Coromandel, then over to Opotiki and stop off at Rotorua to return home on 5 January. Had an fabulous time exploring many wonders of our country. Rounding up over 400 caches along the way, with a few LABS, 20 odd TMGTs, virtuals and lots of interesting earth caches to keep the mind busy. Watching the sun come up on New Years Day at Mt Maunganui was spectacular. Lots of walking and even more driving. But had an awesome time. Thanks to all COs who made this adventure so special.

I want to believe we found it but there was no log book or an "official " container more micro than small but overall good view and spot!!
Found it but as reported previously the lid was broken and it was full of water. No sign of the log book but have replaced the cache. I'm a local so will take responsibility of this cache until we here from the CO or when I move in November.
CO long gone, only maintenance is by others, still broken now and I reported it broken probably over 27 months ago.
First cache in Paunaui. Heard lots about this town from my flat mate who use to help train the jnr life guards.
Cache was quickly found.

Yep cache in plain sight, and not much left of the lid, needs some serious attention.

Like others have found this one was lying in plain sight with a broken lid. I placed the logbook in a small plastic container for protection (fortunately the log paper is already waterproof). However the outer larger container needs to be replaced by the owner, or a good samaritan.
It was hidden in plain sight really, the lid was broken and there were a couple of items already so we put in a my little pony eraser
Well this was a very unarranged few days.
Got a text from Squirrel Nutcase who was up the firth of Thames camping, did I want to meet the next day in Thames for a few caches. Okay, grabbed some gear and met up midday along with a couple of members of his household and the dag. Crammed into the RAV4 and off we went.
Mrs Fap happened to be in Auckland so told her my sort of plans but didn't know when I would be home.
Long walks were out of the question so it was more of a sight seeing trip. Anyway a good couple of days.
Picked up a couple of caches that were missing when in the area last time.
Thanks to cache owners for the placements and will be back another day.

Auckland Anniversary Weekend, 2020: A driving-camping weekend tour of Coromandel with the usual suspects... This was probably the best holiday weekend we've had in a long time... There's nothing more calming than the sound of the sea. Our plan for today was to head to either Tairua, or to find our family in Pauanui...
We found our family and a place to stay for the night, then headed into the neighbourhood to search for cache... This one was sitting out, completely exposed, and the lid was smashed in. Thanks tombatz and TFTC.

Quick find. Container needs replacing and the flax isn't really hiding it anymore. TFTC.
Found while on my Christmas holidays in Pauanui with Tramyard. Thanks for the cache
Found during evening walk while staying in the area for Christmas holidays. Lid broken. TFTC
Greetings from Tauranga. Had a lovely day cycling around Pauanui, along with half the population out enjoying the lovely sunny weather. Of course we managed to get the odd smiley on the way round. This was an easy find as the garden foliage is hardly thick enough to hide the cache. Big split in the cache lid, but the log is well sealed in it's plastic bag and dry. TFTC
Nice and breezy around here. Found it quicker than we usually do in this sort of plant. Nice and quiet in the neighborhood today. Left TB. SL. TFTC.
There is a nasty tree guardian nearby, do not engage with it, or risk being punctured.
we didnt know the area so parked up and walked the long way around
many thanks for bringing us to this great place
We are on a road trip in our campervan to do some bike trails with geocaches along them and the plan is to head to Bowentown and on up to Whangamata then on to Pauanui. All these places have bike trails with geocaches along them so I wish to thanks the C O s who placed the geocaches along the trails as We really enjoy doing trails and getting geocaching numbers up.
Other geocaches were also sought out as we went along to help fill the day in. We were pleased most caches were well maintained and only had 3 no finds along the way
many thanks

Nach einer langen Wanderung bei allerschönstem Wetter fanden wir auch diesen Cache. Wir danken dem Owner fürs Legen und Pflegen.

22413 Traveling through New Zealand to see nice people and places. Also to find some geocaches.
Today we were went from Whakatane to Pauanui along the seaside, seeing nice places and visiting caches, along the road. on both sides. Crossing the road is not always safe. We visited the nice town Katikati to see all the drawings on the walls and to walk a part of the Katikati Haku trail with 4 caches.
At arrival we walked through the town to see the shops/streets, and cactch some caches near the motel.
Most caches were found quite quickly. A few took more time. Several were with waterproof paper, but our stamp and pen do not work that good on such paper, where when it was wet paper it logs fantastic. Like with this very wet logpaper.
tombatnz TFTC and the fun it brought us. Theo

Thank you for making this so easy. Our clothes were soaked from a downpour and my 4 year old was over it. Log saturated unfortunately.
Walked along the beach and through the estate to the shopping area. Continued passed the recreation club, interesting bowls match taking place. Good hint, easy find, very exposed to muggles. Needs a new log, dried container best we could. Moose TB dipped, photo attached. TFTC. TM from N Wales

I had some free time until barbecue (yes, we made that independent of the rain ) so I looked for some geocaches. This one was easy to find and a nice area.

A very quick find.
Was very surprised that my pen could write on the log which was very wet.

2nd find in pauanui today. Stunning view from here. The log paper was a little moist. One of those anti moisture baggies will help. I took 2 marbles. Easy find. Thanx!
Having a bit of a drive-around Pauanui now picking up the odd cache.
Found the path that lead straight to it. Argh! Flax. Thankfully it is only a small one.
Cheers for the cache.

Seems like the olden days when everyone went out for the traditional Sunday drive. This is both a sightseeing and caching expedition. Checked a couple of spots before success TFTC tombat z
Not such an easy find for us. Looked like crazy people with our torches on searching for the cache in the flax
Thought it was a small blue click clack sistema box but not the case, it’s more in keeping with surroundings than that! Thanks
Find number 3912. Last time I was at GZ a local was sitting having a coffee so I walked straight passed. No one around today so it was a quick grab. Took it over to fence for signing before returning it. Thank you for the placement.
We decided we would head up to Coromandel for a couple of days to do some Geocaching and walks, in spite of the heavy rain at home. Once we crossed the hills the weather soon improved and by the time we reached our destination it was fine and sunny. After staying at Thames overnight we decided to do the four or five unfound caches on the Tapu road and carry on to Pauanui. After overnighting down by the beach we spent this morning caching around Pauanui before heading back home. Extremely windy today, especially down here by the estuary. Mr S nearly lost his hat. However we soon made the find.
Thanks tombatnz.
Thanks tombatnz.
Second find of the day out on our new bikes. All quiet here this afternoon. We will have to come back another time to do the bike trail. TFTC
With gorby for some caching fun around Pauanui. The navigation put us close, but with no easy entrance (well we could trespass and walk down someones driveway? nah spotted a walkway, to off we went and was soon walking to the hint item. Oh goodie this might be fun, and it was
Can imagine in a few years this will be a tricky hide, but today - awesome. Thanks tombatnz for the hide.

Me and rustynz came down to Whangamata from Auckland for a very long day of caching, but mainly to try for a possible ftf on a new virtual cache that popped up a few days ago in Whangamata. If you want to read about that adventure look at GC7B898.
We are in Pauanui at the moment, we thought we found a good entry to this cache in one street then rusty spotted an even better entrance on C:geo on the cellphone that required even less walking, so I drove us to that point. (Sometimes you want to walk... sometimes you don't!) Then it was just a small downhill walk to GZ and the flax for a cache signing. Cheers tombatnz!
