WA Big Trip Winter 2024. Day 35 - William Day. I stayed an extra night in William to have a go at the LGA trail on a day I needed plenty of caches. I did sleep in a bit and I got away at a leisurely time of the morning, but I was still on the rail at 0930. I had an enjoyable two hours doing sixty out of sixty six caches. All that I found except one or two were in great condition for their age. There have been a few replacements, and the mint tins do not serve well as containers along here. There were six DNFs, all due to farmers clearing fence lines for new fences and in some places burning of the remains. Once had done all the aches I was planning on doing I headed back into town and got to some home work, catching up on logging. The tree is completely gone here. Thanks.Albida

In the area to knock off a few more of this monumental PowerTrail that has inspired us over the years to place our own PT. Love the effort that has gone into this with great placements and great hints. Apologies for the generic logs....I know you understand! We started at 520am (the first dozen were tough in the dark) and finished at 1250pm and managed another 167 finds today with only a handful of DNFs due to land clearing and fences being replaced....a fun and enjoyable day, albeit exhausting..... we were hoping to beat our daily find record of 201 which we achieved last time we were out here but we may have set our bar too high on such a glorious sunny day and in the end the idea of a pub lunch and a beer back at Quindanning was too tempting. No problemo, still leaves another 150-ish for us to come back to. Thank you FellowshipOfTheTrail for another fun day out finding caches!

First Day (for us) On The.... *LGA!*

Another very nice find on a geocaching adventure with woolwood9.
We enjoyed the drive / walk around the area.

Our Experience:
Had a couple of farmers stop us who didn't seem very happy about this trail at all.
On day 3 we were talking to a farmer who was very friendly and happy about it!
Tons of dust, 36 degrees - energy draining heat, seeds in socks, flies and spiders.
OVERALL: great fun and fantastic numbers of finds!

**Appreciate the efforts of all involved.**

*Thank you for putting this Huge cache trail out for us to visit! *

Today the geocaching mission for TaurusSix and I is to head back to the LGA series and collect another string of geocaches . We have really enjoyed doing stretches of this trail over several months and visits now. It is always a nice drive, we love getting out into the country, for the most part it is quite deserted and muggle free. And of course we like to collect lots of caches. Today the weather is particularly pleasant, a lovely spring day with the sun shining and a light breeze. The canola in the nearby fields is looking particularly spectacular at the moment with lots of rolling yellow paddocks as far as the eye can see. All in all a perfect day for geocaching.

This is our tenth cache find of the day . Once again a little bit of back burning here but the cache itself was in touched so a nice quick and easy find was had. TFTC

Thanks to the Fellowship Of The Trail for placing and maintaining this caching series for our enjoyment.

Find 169 of 223 with 6 DNFs on our biggest ever day of caching. Back in June after hitting 9000 finds, we set a target to get to 10000 before our 10 year anniversary of starting caching which was back in September 2012. This series along with a three week trip to Europe were always going to be key to getting our quickest thousand and after today we are a lot closer.

We started out early (not as early as some) and cached from 915 till 5ish with a long break in Boddington for lunch. We soon got into the rhythm of leapfrogging with Mrs O in the car and Mr O on a mountain bike covering 55km across the day, up hill and down dale, on gravel, sand and tarmac.

This awesome series is the pre-eminent power trail in WA and we are so happy it is almost on the doorstep. Thanks to everyone involved in the organisation, placement and maintenance of these caches.

One of our targets for our current visit to Western Australia is the Local Government Area series near Boddington. We made a start about a week ago and then went to Bunbury and Busselton for a few days. Yesterday we returned to Boddington to continue the LGA series.

With overnight rain, we wondered about the state of the gravel roads but they were good. Rain fell of and on for the first hour or so, but the weather gradually improved during the remainder of the day and we had a good days caching. Today we looked for 131 of the LGA caches, finding all but seven of them. Unless stated otherwise, accurate coordinates and the hints led to quick finds. The cache containers were in good condition but, as should be expected, many of the log books are showing signs of being used by many cachers, some being badly torn. On the other hand, it was pleasing to see today that a number of containers and logbooks have been replaced.

We really enjoy the concept of the LGA trail. Congratulations to the members of the FellowshipOfTheTrail on an excellent series which must have taken extensive planning and a large amount of time to prepare and place each of the caches.

Thank you to the fellowship of the trail crew for placing this series for us to find. Up early today to get on the road to get as many of the series as we could. With a goal in mind to qualify for certain challenge caches. Distracted by a FTF in Kirup we didn’t get up here until just before lunch. Made up time on the trail and managed to miss the rain. All containers were found in good condition on coordinates unless other wise noted

14-Jun-21
The day was all about finding as many caches as we could on the LGA series. Headed out early but went on a detour to grab a FTF available in our own LGA which had been taunting us for a week. After a bit of off-roading, and another FTF added to our stats, we headed off again. Two hours later we arrived in Quindanning ready to start the trail. The weather wasn’t the best - cold and blustery, but any day you can get out for a bit of caching is a good day. Thoroughly enjoyed the day searching for these caches with Pollythecollie finding 124 caches with only 4 DNFs recorded. Thanks FOTT for your work in creating and maintaining this series.

The LGA series has been on the list for a long time. Probsty and I stitched up a plan of heading off early, riding the MTB’s along Zilko Rd from Quindanning to Williams and crack the ton. We did with 130 finds, both our biggest day of caching. We stayed at the Ye Olde English Inne, an iconic pub of Quindanning and the start of the Captain Fawcett Track.

Thanks to the Fellowship of the Trail for such an epic series. So much fun and so many more still to find.

Hi there FellowshipOfTheTrail.

We found your cache **"LGA Dalwallinu WA"** today. (This makes our find count 23128).

Today we headed out from Williams and attempted our second loop of the LGA group of caches. We thoroughly enjoyed today's cache finds, but please excuse our boilerplate logs - we know it's not really a good excuse, but we find it difficult to craft individual logs when we attempt so many similar caches in a day. [:(!]

We found 133 caches today & DNF'd 1. Thanks for placing the cache here, without geocaching as our guide we would never have found so many interesting places on our travels. Our log or stamp is not necessarily placed in the last spot in the book or sheet. If we find a blank spot when we open the log - that is where it goes.

**Coordinate Accuracy:** We found most caches within a few metres of where our GPS said we should be looking. [:(!] (We did have to look a little further afield for some though). [:(!]
**Cache Condition:** The containers and log books were mostly in good shape.
**Took:** Nothing.
**Left:** Nothing.

Thanks for the hunt today,

Regards

Ian & Penny

After getting up nice and early (4:00) i made the journey from Albany to start The Fellowship of the Trails LGA series. It did not disappoint, starting at Carne rd and wandering through the the back roads till light became dark and i became thirsty! So i settled into the Quindanning inne for a couple of brews and a beautiful meal (thanks ladies) All up a huge day of hunting. Thanks for putting out this series, it must have taken all involved a huge effort which i'm sure all geocachers are very happy with. TFTC Smile

Tagged along with Gma Allinaday to find the FellowshipOfTheTrail series. We had a fun few days looking for all caches. I loved all the lambs in the fields but the red back spiders that were on a few of the caches not so much. Thank you for putting all the caches out there for us to find.

Finally had a spare few days to go and tackle the FellowshipOffTheTrail series with my two granddaughters. Accommodation booked in Boddington a few months earlier, which we used as our base, we set off in high spirits to find all those caches. We had some big days, and also a few shorter ones. Given that it was the middle of winter, we had near perfect caching weather. Not a drop of rain, the roads were nice and smooth with little dust. The fields were lush and green with an abundance of newly born lambs, which were a never ending source of amusement for the girls. We found most of the caches where they were meant to be. Some had been strewn a number of metres away by animals. Some fences have been realigned....one cache location was some 10metres inside a new fence. Some caches have been wiped out by the grader widening the road and pushing all the dirt up. Some trees have also succumbed to new fences. Wherever possible, we have replaced caches.....approx. 26 or so, which will keep the trail alive. Many thanks to those responsible for placing all these caches. I can only imagine how much time has gone into that.

Well we had plans to be in Albany this week, but plans changed so we were heading towards Dunsborough when plans changed again! Needed somewhere to stop for 1 week and the LGA series popped up on our radar!

So day 2 today and a leisurely start at 10.00 and back at the caravan by 4.30pm with 181smilies today.

We did have some trouble today with new fences having been installed, so a fair bit of searching further afield in the hope of finding displaced containers. still a good days hunt.

My seventh visit to LGA country, and sadly not my last as unlike other cachers I have limited tolerance for power trails and so cap my caching day at 2 hours/50 finds. Looks like I'll have to make another two or three visits in order to complete the map. Sought 50 today and found all 50 - no DNFs which makes for a relatively pleasant day. All were quick finds as per the hint. TFTC Smile

The caching effort today was a record one with 154 caches found. It was cooler today, so the assault on the LGA series with goingplaces2, gave a great result. Most were easy to find. All logs had initials used. Thanks go to FellowshipOfTheTrail for this cache placement.

As it started out being a much cooler and rather overcast day, we were soon out hunting caches with ilook4geo. We were determined to make a dent in the locally availables caches and found about 154, which is a total that we were pleased with. Most of the caches in this LGA series were quite quick and easy to find today. Each log had our initials added. Thanks go to FellowshipOfTheTrail for placing this cache and for adding another smiley to our caching map.

After flying 'over West', caching in Perth for a day and a bit and then hitting the LGA trail yesterday it was time to see whether I could achieve another 'tonne' on the LGA power trail today. Despite starting a little later than yesterday I seemed to be a little more trail 'fit' and only DNF'd a couple whilst finding 105 including a regular sized ammo can! I think that deserves the FP that I generally award a power trail.
Thanks to all those involved for putting the caches out and no doubt attending to regular maintenance issues. The roads used for the trail are decently remote and no doubt a maintenance run would take a fair chunk of a day to complete even for those living reasonably close. Any other contributors would probably have to contribute a full day what with the travel to and from home. This interstate cacher appreciates the effort taken.

Suscoe was travelling between Perth And Albany today.
We had spotted these trails a while ago and so we just had to take in a few of the roads in the short time we had available
Almost all caches were found in good condition.
It was a lovely Spring day with some sunshine, some cloud and good roads including freshly graded gravel.
Thanks to the FellowshipOfTheTrail for this cache and series.

Found at 1:47:00 PM.

rudi63 and I headed out to have a go at part of the LGA series today. We made the choice to start with the southern section of the series and see how we went. We made pretty good time overall, finding a bit over 200 of them in about 7 hours or so, which included a bit of back tracking over completed areas and also stopping for lunch.

Most of the finds were made rather easily. A few were found out in the open and then replaced where the hint said the cache should be and a few are the dreaded Sad now. Overall a fun, but tiring, day and a big thank you to all that are a part of FellowshipOfTheTrail.

Thanks for the cache FellowshipOfTheTrail, it was cache number 2809 for me and was number 165 in my run of 217 finds and 9 DNFs for today's geocaching effort.

Cheers Cool

WinkBig GrinSmile[:o)]

Mr Wileyclan and I planned to attack a section of this lengthy series. An early start and a drive to the south most section.

A long day, and success in that we broke a few PBs. for me it was the most in a Day, the most in a Weekend, and the most in a month. Most of the caches were easy finds, some took a little longer to search for, but at least we kept the DNF tally to a low acceptable level.

We had a fun day, we did beleive that the Fellowship missed the opportunity to achieve some silly puns with some of the LGA names.

Fantastic power series.

Thanks for this great series Fellowship of the Trail.
Had done a couple during road trips recently so decided this is a great spot in winter for racking up quick finds for the challenge. Started at Crossman area then ventured further south and picked up all on Narrakine. Enjoyed the easy finds with good company (AD & kbnbn) and good music. Jumped the gentle winter stream flowing to retrieve some. Good to see farm country so beautiful & green with plenty of new lambs and calves. It took us a couple of hours and caches were found in great condition excepting 2 DNF (one from recent fire, one MIA) and only one wet log. Thanks again.

Granett, SVKR_WA and I had hatched a plan to head out and knock over some of the LGA series and also see how many we could get in a day. Our goal was 200 as we wanted to camp up as well so had to leave early.

We ended up with around 200 of the series. Starting at 7.00ish and finishing here at 1.30pm to head of and find a nearby cache and also do some maintenance.

We had a great day with many laughs shared at the expense of ourselves and also other members of the Fellowship Big Grin

We decided to head up to Congelin to camp for the night where I am writing this log.

Am super, super happy! They're all done!! Yay!!!

Now I have to log them all. Not so super happy now am I?

Oh well, here goes - all will be pretty much generic, unless something about the cache, the location or something else at gz warrants a mention.

Numbers, numbers, numbers. Not normally my thing, but I did enjoy the two days spent out there with geobuddy marke8183. I supplied the food, drink, directions and other necessities whilst he did the driving, and all without a complaint. Sweet man that he is. And numbers aren't his thing either. He has probably visited about a half of all the caches I have logged and yet he has only logged 158 to date.

The Fellowship of the Trail have put in a lot of work in setting up this power trail. I can only imagine how many visits they had to make to get them all out, and then the maintenance will be ongoing. Power to them!! Awesome work guys. Thanks.

Another early day out with neva2old, we hit the road at 3am in aim to finish off the LGA series, which was done in a few hours and started to chip away at a few other series too. We had a great day out and we think we finished off with over 200 smileys for the day (will put the final number in the last log) we had a handful of DNF's after spending a considerable time on the hunt but are happy to say we come up trumps here today TFTC

Organised a full caching day with ssclan to find as many of the LGA series as we could. So left the Northern suburbs around 5am arriving at the first cache around 7:15am (after breaky at Armadale maccas). Found the last cache around 5:15pm, and got home around 7:30pm.

Ended up with 329 finds in about 10hrs! Managed to complete the entire Southern section and a good amount of the Western side, apart from 5 that were unreachable due to some flooded roads. Luckily all the rain hadn't effected the roads. Also picked up a few other caches in the area.

A great days geocaching, smashed my previous day record of 150, and also passed the 5,000 finds mark too!

Thanks to the Fellowship for putting all these geocaches out, a massive effort I'm sure.

A long, record-breaking day with Spatialriq collecting as many caches on the LGA series as we could. 328 in total for me and the only blemish was a section of flooded road we couldn't access.
All quick finds except where the rain had washed the leaf litter around the base of trees.
The ants were out in force but luckily there were no reptiles.
Thanks Fellowship for this great series.

30-Dec-17
Out for a day of caching with MissNerdBerger to grab a few caches to complete some goals that I had set myself for this year, to get 100 finds in a day and complete the year with a least 365 caches.

The day started a little later than expected and after being collected by MNB we started the drive down towards Williams to complete some more of the LGA series that we started just after they got published.

After stopping off for a couple of the Australian Bushrangers series on the drive down we quickly got into a groove collecting the LGA caches. Our morning was quite successful collecting 68 finds, I had a good chat to a farmer who although not a cacher himself was familiar with the activity and mentioned possibly getting into it when he finds some more spare time. With fuel getting a little low and bellies the same we headed into Williams for lunch.

A quick drive south to grab a couple of golden ammo cans and we were back in LGA country and working to the 100 caches in a day goal. Although there was still daylight available to us we made the decision to grab find 100 and start heading back home, after doing the math we still have just over 400 LGA caches to get.

All in all, it was a great day and I was able to get my 365th find for the year with our 30th find (LGA Cunderdin WA), passed 800 total caches (Thomas and John Clarke – Australian Bushranger) and hit triple figures for the day (LGA Bunbury WA)

Thanks to all the CO’s for placing the caches and MNB for joining me.

Back out to finish the LGA series, it was a nice cool day today, not hot and sticky like the last couple of times. Thanks for fixing the caches that we're missing. I really thought it was funny how the Mandurah cache was missing. That will be a mystery that will never be solved. No snakes again today, , but a couple of sand monitors and plenty of bobtail . Thanks to everyone for placing these caches for everyone to find, you guy's did amazing job, which must of taken alot of time. We found the people that live out in the area, to be really friendly and always stopping to see if your ok. Seen some really good wheat crops today, and we seen some really bad cutting of the wheat, MUST be newbies, terrible, left so much money in the padlock. Please be careful with the wheat trucks using the roads this time of the year. Tftc, sl, tnln.

Part of our clan got together and decided on an ambitious total of approx 224 for the day. We drove down from home base (Perth area) bright and early. We - muskcat83, janssej & ctvdlinden - split the kids up and continued on. We had a great day out and found 221 (4 DNF's). Thanks for the series and so happy they are back online again.

THIS IS MY 1500th find!!!!

Joined up with Geosister (janssej) and Brother and Sister in laws clan (ctvdlinden) on a preplaned trip to do the LGA series in Williams. We logged all our finds with MCJ (a play on MCG as we are all cricket lovers). TFTC and the putting the series together. All in all, we found 221 caches for the day and 4 dnf's.

This was the 55th cache for the day, the weather forecast was for warm weather, but it didn’t bother us at all. A great day out.

Currently, I haven’t found any caches in this LGA.

Headed out to make a big dent in this series. All up we had 221 finds for the day (220 in this series) and 4dnf's. All caches signed as MCJ to represent the clan Muskat83, ctvdlinden and myself, janssej, which was an easy acronym to remember seeing the cricket was on the radio.
All in all, a great day out - the heat didn't affect us too much as I think it was cooler in Boddington than it was in the metro area. Lots of competition going on, especially between all the geokids as to who would have success at each cache. Thanks for the great series and glad it's back online!

Currently I have 0 finds in this LGA

##The LGA Series is back up and running.##
Please be respectful of the local environment and road conditions. Ensure you park off the road and be aware of large vehicles that might be in the area.

We would like to thank the **Shire of Williams** for working with us to keep this power trail alive.

The local Shire has asked that we review the placement of these caches. Please do not attempt to find until they are back online. Unfortunately we will have to delete any 'Found it' logs until we get the green light. Apologies for any inconvenience but please do not attempt these caches at this time. Thanks

Day Eighteen of our holiday in Western Oz.
Bettyboo3747 and I loitered around Quindanning, and we did a few more of the LGA series.
A lovely sunny day with green fields, lots of wildflowers, and dry roads.
Our second day on the LGA series. We started near the pub and cut across to Williams for lunch (and out internet fix), then back to do the arms of that track, finishing up back at the pub for dinner.
I think we did most of the WA series and fair slug of the NSW series.
A good container to use for the series, and a nice collection of hides
Thanks, Robmc.

#13105. Day 18 of our WA holiday and our first day based at Quindanning.

A full day chasing more caches in the LGA Series. First cache signed at 8.00am and we put in a solid 3.5 hours before heading into Williams for lunch and for some internet reception.

Another glorious day with fields of gold and fields of green, blue skies and plenty of wonderful scenery in all directions. We are also enjoying the wildflower displays along the roadsides.

We were pleased to see the ammo can at LGA Boddington. At LGA Wandering we had a nasty experience with a swarm of wasps (we originally thought they were bees, but on reflection think they were wasps as they chased us all the way to the car, into the car and would not leave us alone.

After lunch we put in some more hard yards and ended up with a day's total of 202, our best day ever.

Thanks FellowshipOfTheTrails

We made a very early start today with richlink and JacobsCrew2 to endeavour to complete this series in one day. All caches were found and logs signed with our team name for the day RIJ. We had a lot of fun along the way and retired exhausted at the end of the trail.
Thank you FellowshipOfTheTrail - a sterling effort!

After conferring with previous finders and at their encouragement, together with iluvtrekking and JacobsCrew2 we decided to embark on an attempt to log all caches in this series in the one day. It took a lot of pre-planning and mapping to be confident we could do it, so Fathers Day was nominated for the quest. Arrived at the first cache before sun up on a day that proved to be very chilly with the temperature not rising above 12 deg all day. We worked systematically through the different sections and were elated to have logged (used RIJ to record our visit) all the finds due to excellent co-ords provided by the various CO's of the series. This is definitely our type of scenery for caching and although it was cold, we all enjoyed the day and will remember it for a long time to come. Thank you FellowshipOfTheTrail
