I was driving past here this afternoon when I remembered there had been a find and a DNF last Saturday so stopped to have a check. Cache was indeed missing and I couldn't find it on the ground either. Have replaced with a bison this time.
we found this one in the grass so i signed it and put it where i thought it would go tftc
A plan was hatched between myself, the Seagnoid, YetiNZ and TwigNZ to convene in Nelson to attempt to get a first to find on puzzle we had solved at our recent puzzle evening. 'The boys' are flying from Wellington on Sunday, while I drove up from Christchurch on Saturday. Unfortunately I received the notification while driving through the Lewis Pass that the FTF had been claimed, but hey, a day caching in Nelson still sounds fab. Thanks for the cache.
A last minute Sunday jaunt to Nelson for the day was originally planned around a hopeful first to find of a recently published puzzle cache. Sadly, it was a gamble that did not pay off. However the four of us that made the the trip all had plenty of unfound geocaches in the area and so the day was spent driving around and collecting key geocaches for various needs and / or wants, or sometimes just because they were there and so were we. Special thanks go to That Darn Bear for being our personal shuttle service for the day, and putting up with the rest of us behaving like the backseat driving Geocaching children that we are.Yup, that's a big wooden chicken alright. We had stopped here to gather a photo of the chicken, and so it made sense to find this cache as well. All logs were signed with the team name of MYST, to represent myself (YetiNZ), the Seagnoid, That Darn Bear, and Twig NZ.---Thanks to IsisNZ for placing and maintaining this cache. I enjoy each and every cache I find, and it is only with Geocachers like this creating them and placing them out in the world that this wonderful game continues.[DGSc-Bulk] tagging to help me generate a list for GC30AD8 - DGSc Challenge.
Today I was spending my day in Nelson with YetiNZ, ThatDarnBear and the Seagnoid on a impromptu geo-trip. We had hoped to get a FTF on a solved puzzle but there were many other reasons for being here, not least of which is that it is such a wonderful part of our nation to visit and explore and I always enjoy coming here.As is usual for us in these circumstances, we attempted to come up with a team name for the day. Typically it's a play on caching initials, and occasionally we struggle due to a lack of vowels! But we had a Y, so we decided to be team MYST for the day even though we didn't have an M. I guess we just liked the name, but in any case MYST were Myself, YetiNZ, the Seagnoid and ThatDarnBear. This was one of the locations we stopped near to take photos for a particular virtual cache. But of course that meant we goot to look for this one too. A quick find at GZ. The only issue I encountered was that the log had been screwed up and jammed into the container due to someone placing a cigarette lighter in it. After signing the log, I replaced the log in a better way having removed the lighter to dispose of it. Otherwise no issues to report here, and we were soon back on our way to the next one Thanks for setting this cache up.
Found the chooks nest with no problem. Rotated the egg and left undisturbed.. Took the opportunity to raid the hen house next door for some supplies.TFTC
We thought we'd better get our A's into G and try to get Signal out of the dragon's lair. Thirteenth cache of the day. TFTC
A fun wee hide. I think I may have an old here years ago. Good to see a new one nowadays. Nice quick find while my other half was doing retail therapy nearby. TFTH
An easy driveby after hours. I recall finding the previous cache hidden right on the chook some years ago.
TFTC.

Since the CO so graciously replaced this cache very quickly, I had to make a point to zip over and find the cache this morning. Rain was predicted, but I managed to stay dry finding the cache.
I saw the erstwhile location across the parking lot. I'm guessing that it attracted too much attention to be a good location for a cache. TFTC,.

I think I see where the cache should be hiding, but it seems to have flown the coop. I also checked directly below in case it fell out of its nest. Finally, I looked at other possibilities in case it got re-hidden differently. All negative.
This is an easy park and grab so definitely needed a check. Popped by today and sure enough only the tell tale signs of where the cache had been were left so replaced.
Mooching around doing some caches once we got back from Collingwood - we indeed parked and grabbed - log signed - thanks for the cache

Obviously the caffeine levels are at critical levels as we made hard work of the find. I was spooked by the difficulty rating (as I have DNFed more 1 diff caches than I care to admit to). Luckily it was deserted at GZ so we stuck at it and SWNZ finally spotted the elusive container. Loved the giant chook, we did a drive by to have a closer look. TFTC.
#19821. We made hard work of this one. In the end it was rather higher than I expected. Either Chelsea started laying a different type of container at some point, or the current container is not the original one . Loved the nearby carving. TFTC.
Not much planned for today, so RG1972 and I went for a bit of a local drive and picked up a few caches on the way.
A simple find here. I pulled in here yesterday, but there was a bit of activity bringing the signs in as they were closing. Then I got the call to pick up RG from Rabbit Island, so I moved on. Today was quiet and leisurely, and no issues at all. Good spot for a cache, especially close to the chook. TFTC Isis.

On a 3 week geocaching trip with woolwood9.
*Very nice find for us here.*
SL **tm/ww NZ**, but may appear as a black smudge on the many wet logs or plastic log strips.
*Thanks for the reason to visit this location and for the cache!*
Another day of rain.

#8505. I flew over to Nelson for a work trip up in the Takaka region this week. So came over earlier to give me a chance to pick up a few geocaches while making my way over the hill. I am not due there until 3pm so had time to stop and grab this one. Good to see the big chook. The cache hiding spot was just far enough away to not attract attention from the locals. After checking out a couple of spots I suddenly spied where it was hidden. Signed the log and replaced the cache where found. Thanks Isis58 for the cache.
A sunday adventuring with Missnboyz. Park and grabs today dodging between the rain`. Have been here various times for supplies and never thought to look for caches. A good spot my Miss here. TFTC
A quick find on the way home after an outing. Last time I tried to find this one it was missing and I got an update that it had been replaced. I checked in on it last weekend but couldn't sign the log as I forgot my pen. All the pieces of the puzzle came together today though.
Thanks for the cache.
Thanks for the cache.
This was a very cool geocache, because it is the first time I have seen a trackable in real life and moved it around to a different geocache!TFTC A TON!
The change in the sign, which related to the name of the cache, is most likely to be the reason for the previous DNF. New cache in place today - although the intended replacement was left at home on the bench!
For some reason I have never stopped here before until today.
I took the time to have a look into the shop and was surprised. Bulk quantities for great prices! Thanks for placing a cache here and bringing me to this spot, I will definitely stop more often from now on and buy some things from here!
Cache was quickly found afterwards and returned as found.

Today we are a caching team divided by the Whangamoa. Two of us remain in Nelson beavering away at a couple of Puzzles, some Cycle-way caches and a bunch of Park’n’Grabs.
I can't explain why this cache had not drawn our attention until now since any green spot on a map is generally like a magnet to us.
Anyway, today was the day to LAY ths one to rest. See what I did there?
A quick find. GPS spot on.
Thanks Isis58!

In town on a wee family summers holiday visiting family. Grew up in Richmond - gosh the years have changed it! Out this evening to find a few caches as I've been a bit lacking.

Trying to decide where to go today to keep up our streak, so many choices, but practicalities need to be taken into account. How busy will my choice be? Will I get muggled? We had looked at this one once before but there was too much activity in the area to stop. Today wasn't so bad and I managed to snag the cache between passing vehicles. Log signed and cache returned. All good here. tftc
Arrived at GZ quick search around and it wasn’t long before I was signing the cache.
Thank you Glenda for a enjoyable day of geocaching
Thank you for the cache. Love the name

Over from Melbourne visiting Jay’s family and grabbing the occasional cache on our travels. TFTC.
I so wanted to get a photo of the chooks but I couldn't quite sort it out so I may have to get it next time I pass by and the path is clear. A quick wee find of the container also supplied a path tag which I thought was cool. Cache is in good condition and is the ideal size for it's hide. Nicely done isis58.
