Hi there gabs1963. While out on the road today we found this cache at 0240pm after a short search Big Grin - and the container and log are now in good condition. TN, LN, SL. Thanks to gabs1963 for this cache - our find 10919 and the 1st of 1 finds for the day.FieldNotes: Log was wet and unusable, and the bag had a hole letting water in, so both were replaced.

Day 16 of the road trip, and 2nd full day enjoying Gero. Main objective today was to make a start on the Observing Planes series - that big loop has been spoiling my map of these parts for too long, haha. Picked up a few other caches on the way there too, including this one. Completely deserted around here today so very easy to park up and make a quick find of a familiar container Smile No problems here today - TFTC

Caching in the Greater Geraldton area today. Our intention for the day was to attack some power trails and do map cleanup around town.

Quick park and grab. Able to grab without everyone at the game knowing us. Cheers gabs1963! Big Grin

We are on a wander around the wheatbelt looking for wildflowers, Not really sure where we are headed but just taking it day by day.
We spent the night in Grealdton so I grabbed a few of these on my morning run.
I have seen these before so it was a quick find once I arrived at GZ.

This was find number 1 for the day.

Today our tour - which began in Perth, WA , and led us thru Western, Northern and Southern Australia back to Perth, was from simply cruising around in Geraldton
.

On the way we came to some interesting locations. Here we searched, found and logged this Tradi-Cache.

Weather was good in the morning and it should even get better during the day.

Thanks to 'gabs1963' for showing us this location and for the fun we had with 'Strike 3, your out, next batter'. The search here and today didn't take too much time, fortunately. Lot of sports in the morning.

Greetings from Germany and we hope to see you soon in the forest.

In the early part of today we thought we would be stuck inside our caravan most of the day as the overnight wind and rain continued but after we had done some hopping and then lunch the sun finally began to do its best to shine and improve the day. The strong wind continued but we decided it was worth the effort to get out and explore.
This is the first cache we looked for and fortunately there was absolutely no one about at GZ so we were able to search freely.
We remember needing to search for quite a while when we first came across this hide, and we especially remember the hissy fit one of our friends threw when he had missed such a hide many times and then Mrs SKI walked straight up and found it.
Great to reminisce.

Our final cache find for 2017!
We have been intending to find this one for a long, long time - today we finally got around to it. We pulled up to find an empty car park, absolutely nobody around, unlike on a couple of previous occasions where we had decided against looking because of all the muggle activities. The only activity today was hundreds of white corellas feasting on the trees and dethatching the grass, they weren’t going to stop us. I jumped out and headed over to GZ and in a stroke of luck spotted it straight away! What a fantastic way to end 2017, quite often we hunt for ages and still don’t find the cache.
We took Mac for a stroll around the oval, he enjoyed chasing a ball which had been left by a previous attendee even more than chasing his own ball. Once we had tired him out we continued on our way to visit the markets.

Thanks for a great start to our day and for providing our final find for 2017.

Day 3 of the Geraldton trip for the IGD event held up there.

Again we started of a little late this time as I kept sleeping through my alarm. First for everything and a sign of the intense workload and Geocaching I have managed to fit into these last 2 weeks, over 600 caches, 450+ FTF, 2 events, 1600km to get all of this as well as working 2 50hr weeks.

Today's events had us clear a few more Urban caches as well as a great walk along the Chapman river, I really needed to wear shorts and gumboots as by the end of it the trainers and jeans I was wearing were saturated.

We then left for Perth around lunch and made a few finds on the way home.
It was a great weekend up in Geraldton with the deliberation in the car in the way home summing up the trip as we are suckers for punishment.

Each visit we get our worst DNF % on caches attempted, then clear previous DNF's from other years and end up saying by the end of it when are we coming back!

Again will see some of you at WA goes Big in Rockingham and possibly the rest of you at IGD in Gero next year!

Giving this cache a favourite point for being an urban Geraldton cache that can be actually found.

Good co ordinates, nice plain camo and not at a GZ that resembles your teenage daughters bedroom. Well done

Day three of our trip to Geraldton for international geocaching day 2017, our fourth time attending this event since it was first done in 2013.

We started early to tackle a number of hides in the chapman river series, which was a very pleasant stroll this morning despite the wet undergrowth which soaked both our boots! Some very cool geocaches around the trail which were most fun to complete, and a few DNFs too, it wouldn't be a caching day in Geraldton with some DNFs.

We finished up there and collected a few more caches around the burbs of Geraldton including some tree climbing. It was decided that we needed to start the journey back home this time
Via Brand Highway to collect all the caches that we've missed on previous travels.

We had one last Geraldton cache in Bootenal Springs which was a lovely walk through and exploring aboriginal heritage in the area.

We continued along brand Highway collecting a
Couple of caches in dongara and then continued on collecting cache after cache all the way towards regains ford before we packed up the caches and headed straight for home.

Overall a good weekends caching with around 70 finds over two pretty full on caching days. We've got some big plans to tackle the Indian Ocean drive caches in a couple of weeks that we always seem to miss on our trips to Geraldton, hopefully staying at Jurien bay or Green Head.

Was a bit of a frustrating trip with around 30 DNFs, a number of which haven't been found for some time. We had some bad co ordinates, not sure if it was us or the cache, but spent a lot of time expanding search areas to find caches. Look forward to coming back for next years IGD event to find a few more caches around these parts!

The highlight of the trip would be the caches along the Moresby Range. Highly recommended. Thanks to the local COs for their caches.
