Fun hide thanks could be tricky

Another stop to find a Marlborough rail cache. I was puzzled by the spelling and I thought it was unlikely the cache owner would have made an error. All is explained in the cache description. Some well meaning finder (or finders) had placed large rocks around the cache. In attempting to conceal it, the opposite effect was the result which I am sure the cache owner had in mind when he placed the cache. I left one rock close by because I think that one did belong but I relocated the other three a few metres away.

A cool campground here, I must stay next time I'm passing this way. Lovely sunny spot today, decided to park up and have lunch beside the GZ after I'd found the cache, before continuing north, TFTC

On our way up to Picton as we were passing this spot, I looked over and said to Chocochunk: I'd like to stay there one day. On our way back to CHC, we stopped and got this cache. This allowed us a chance to walk around and check out the site. Pretty cool. Can't wait to get back here to stay a night or two.

05-Nov-23
We are away for a night in the brand new caravan. Testing out everything. We have driven over the nearby bridge so many times - looking down at the camper vans and caravans thinking what a great place to camp beside the sea. After dinner we wandered up to GZ - hoping for a muggle free find. But no -we had to play the stealth game and wait.I did know what type of cache I was looking for so that did make it a tad easier.TFTC theseagnoid

Down south from Tauranga. On a roadie and now time to head home. Parked up for a couple of nights at this awesome place and time to get a couple more smiles. Great cache, was reluctant at first. Fp from me. I am logging using the Cachly app template so please excuse generic logging along the way. Its just my way of keeping track, but I do genuinely thank each and every one of you cache owners for taking the time and energy to place these caches. Many Thanks for bringing me here. Cheers.

I love the railway series. Thank you the Seagnoid. This is another of your typical pattern and obvious if you know what to look for. Interesting to see this is now a formal camping ground and busy at midday.

No sign of it where the GPS indicated it should be. A very popular camping area.

Quick find here. Towing a big moving trailer I parked at the store and walked in. Only while walking and reading the description did I find you can drive to the cache but I think my big orange trailer would have drawn attention to me as many campers were out having breakfast. A walker did not raise a second glance.
Thanks for the cache, the Seagnoid

Arrived at this underrated camping site at the end of yesterday, sitting on 4999 found caches. I deliberately left this one to this morning. It was less than 30m from my overnight spot. Headed to it first thing today and found it quickly. Superb part of the country, a memorable place to notch up my 5000th find! TFTC.

I stopped here to claim another of the Marlborough rail caches on my way south - I have paused at The Store several times but had no idea that this camping spite was here.
Thanks for this cache, the Seagnoid. Quick find.

(# 5978). Day 2 of my South Island odyssey. Today is getting caches from Blenheim to Kaikoura. The weather was decidedly average with mainly light drizzle interrupted by heavy rain. It's the first time I have driven along the coast since the earthquake. I can now appreciate the carnage that occurred. Even how much the seabed rose around Kaikoura. A quick find. Everything in order. TFTC

28-Jul-20
We arrived in the dark for a nights stopover and in the Morning went looking for this one and found it only a few meters from our Caravan..TFTC

This one is just 30m from our caravan while parked up for the weekend. The area is being converted into a camping spot, and access will soon be restricted to walking or those staying. Cheers for the history.

.Hey Ive been here when this was installed and again when it got smashed up by a mower. Alls good today and finally get this tagged. Cheers.

Toby, The Seagnoid and I are off exploring to Kaikoura again today. Its an easy day of mostly P&Gs as TS is the walking wounded at the moment, and not walking much, but can play navigator on this trip. So lets go! A great day with many stops on the way we usually drive past to greener pastures for TS.

09-Nov-19
If you found one, you'll gonna see em from a distance. TFTC

01-Nov-19
Another quick find, there were some campers here enjoying the evening so the car became the geoshield and all good. TFTC tS.

Driving to Christchurch to catch up with family this weekend, a long one for us Malburians. A few caches on the drive down then while the traffic is light and the light is good.

04-Oct-19
Our first railway geocache-looking forward to looking for more on our travels!!

24-Sep-19
TFTC and the great history lesson.

12-Jun-19
Heading south and thought this was going to be a drive by until we saw an uncrossable fence in the way. We could see the old platform so drove on the short distance to Kekerengu Store and into the car parking area. Then a pleasant short walk to the cache. Enjoying finding this quality series of Marlborough rail caches, thanks Seagnoid. A favourite added for this one and your series. Our parking spot was a good place to have a picnic lunch too.

02-Jun-19
Another Marlborough rail find, will have to another road trip to find the ones north of here. TFTC

19-May-19
It looked like it was supposed to be there. TFTC

We are in our 2nd week of our NZ motorhoming adventure. We have loved our stays at Collingwood, Totaranui Abel Tasman NP, French Pass & Havelock. We spent today travelling and sight seeing enjoying the beautiful scenery on our way to Kaikoura and staying the night here by the beach.

Thank you for the quality cache.

23-Apr-19
I had originally planned a 2 day overnight caching road trip but some family commitments intervened which shortened my plan to a 1 (long) day road trip instead. I aimed for the east coast south of Blenheim and went for it. Although the weather on the day started out a bit grim and grey, it brightened up as the day wore on and I had a great time finding 40+ caches along the way. The road to the cache seems to be closed. This might be a seasonal thing? It was a short walk from the car park below the store to the cache. Hidden in plain sight indeed. TFTC, Biggles.

Found on 25/01/2019.

I was up at the top of the South Island competing in the South Island Orienteering Champs. This gave me some time to grab some caches on the way there and back. It was great fun to explore a new part of the coutntry.

On the final leg of my road trip on the way home! A few more fitted into the day! One fence to climb through but I could have gone around... TFTC!!

This is our last Marlborough rail cache for today. It was an ideal stop to have our morning coffee. Had to out wait a muggle who was slowly walking along the road.

Found it!!! Pit stop on the way down south. Thanks for the awesome spot

23-Apr-18
Being a relief teacher with a campervan and a supportive family, I decided it was time to make use of the school holidays. So I am off to Malborough for a few days.
After getting out of the campervan I realised where I needed to be. No trains today.

Thanks. the Seagnoid for putting in the effort to hide this geocache. This was find for me.

11-Apr-18
Last time we were here, you could drive right to the cache location, but a fence across the road now prevents that, so it was a walk in the strong wind, to a quick easy find of a nicely hidden cache. More interesting history, and a massive surf thundering in nearby. TFTC

29-Mar-18
On our way to Kaikoura for the weekend.
We decided to visit a few of the bygone railway stations on the way.
An enjoyable series, thank you.

#15334. We were on our way south, and took advantage of a rail crossing very near to GZ. This was the second damaged cache in this series we found today. Damage here was worse, as the inner container had also lost its lid. Given that, the cache contents were surprisingly dry, and in good shape. TFTC.
