A nice quick find on our way past, my only one for today unfortunately but I'm happy to at least have one as today was a dot day for a challenge cache to fill in the calendar with a cache found in the South Island on every date. I don't have too many left but today was one of them. Very happy to find there was parking on both sides of the road as we were heading away from Tekapo. Thanks so much for the cache!

Day 8: In the MacKenzie High Country Todays highlights were, of course, the star attractions of the region, Aoraki/Mount Cook and the Lakes of the region. We attempted the two tracks in the Aoraki/Mount Cook area - the Hooker Track and the Tasman Lake one in fine but very blustery conditions at times. Then, it was off to Lake Tekapo for the obligatory tourist shots before heading back to Twizel for the evening. Thanks for all the caches in the region, they made the hikes today all the more exciting! (End of the cut and paste bit)Heres the specific log for this cache:What a funny little story that led to the planting of this cache. There was a workman busy at the substation nearby, which made me a tad nervous while working on this one. I had to wander around for a bit before spotting the SPOR some ways away from the fence. TFTC!

Heading over we made a quick find.

We finally managed to get away for a week’s holiday after months of lock downs and cancellations to various trips and flights. After landing in Christchurch we headed to Mount Cook to spend a few days exploring the area, doing a few walks and enjoying the dark sky star gazing, as well as exploring lakes and small towns of the Mackenzie country. We also found lots of geocaches which we enjoyed finding. Thank you to all the CO’s for taking the time to place and maintain these caches.

Quick stop on the way into Lake Tekapo. Strange place to have a cache, but we found it no problems. TFTC!

We have been caching around Tekapo and now on our way to Mt John. Stopped off here to capture two Sords. Cheers. Bummer Mt John road closed Mon-Wed so will have to take to long way up.

Day 3 - Wednesday 22 December - Lake Pukaki to Timaru, Ashburton. We cached around Tekapo this morning. Mt John road was closed so walked up from the lake. Then headed to Timaru for some TMGT and PWGT. Left aafter dinner to spend the night in Ashburton

The Seagnoid, Zara, Toby and I are of on another Geo adventure this time to Mt Cook for 5 days. Met up with Bullertrout and Bro on the way down. Lake Pukaki was fine but Mt Cook was wet and wild with the Hooker Valley being closed due to high winds, so did not stay long. We went exploring Tekapo, Timaru and a round trip to Lake Coleridge. Short trip and very tiring but awesome.

22-Dec-21
Stopped here on the way to the top of Mt John. Which was promptly cancelled as the road is closed Monday - Wednesday. So shortly after we came back again.

Yesterday Taybeedragon and I were at Mt Cook. We planned to stay there two nights but it was a howling gale up there, and it was raining. And cloud. The Hooker Valley was closed with a big gate across the bridge. Many other tracks were outright dodgy. Aorangi has been removed for cleaning and they saw it will be a couple of days before it is dried out thoughoughly enough to be returned. We can't wait that long. So at the end of one day we had done all the walking we could do and left, forfeiting both night's accommodation. We spent the night in Tekapo. So I have at last been to Mt Cook and still have yet to see Aorangi.

Today it is sunny, light winds. It's still a howling gale at the top of Roto Pukaki though. We headed into town early to get the urban caches before the muggles made things awkward.

#20423. This one was on the wrong side of the road, but the parking was good (so we crossed the centre line and parked). Took a bit of a roundabout route to GZ, but made a quick find once we got there. TFTC.

27-Nov-21
We had hoped to have a look around Tekapo, using caches as a guide, but the persistent rain changed our minds and this was the second of just two caches found in the area.
Took the less optimal route to GZ, where we were pleased to make a quick find. Signed the log book under the umbrella to keep everything dry. TFTC.

24-Nov-21
Nice, easy find with plenty of parking nearby. I was able to sign the log without being seen by muggles. TFTC.

16-Oct-21
Just one more cache along the way! TFTC!!
