No luck here for us today

21-Sep-24
Had a good look but no dice, think this one needs checking

04-Aug-24
I couldn't find this one today. The GPS was taking me more to the Centre rather than the fenceline. I had a rummage around all the posts but it depends on how small this one is as to whether or not I just missed it. I will keep an eye on it and see if I was just blind. I have to come back for the Goat Island walking cache's as I didn't have time today. Thanks anyway Smile

04-Jun-23
Beautiful view Smile

11-Nov-22
After a wander around at Goat Island reserve we headed up the hill to this great viewing spot. We admired the view then zeroed in on the cache for a quick find. Thanks.

Have been here before & loved the terrific views. Stopped here just after dawn. Howling wind so had to make it a quick stop & find. TFTC Big Grin

18-Sep-22
Nice views and good grab !

07-Sep-22
Great views across the gulf and easy to find cache

28-May-22
We got to see all the Barriers from the lookout. Such fantastic views from here

28-May-22
A plan was made with 3 other Westie ladies (Merlot, Nette and Supernannny) to head out to Goat Island as the weather was amazing - a perfect sunny and mild Autumnal day, just perfect for a road trip.
A quick detour along this unsealed road to gz where we stopped to check out the views - great views of Little Barrier, Great Barrier and Coromandel too. The cache was quickly located and returned as found. TFTC

28-May-22
A great views of both barriers.

20-Feb-22
TfTC slightly hazy views today but great spot

30-Oct-21
We made a brief detour to find this one on the way back from a walk in the Goat Island Marine reserve. It's always nice to find these spots off the beaten track that we would never have known about had it not been for geocaching.
The cache was quickly located and was a bit exposed so we made sure it was tucked away a bit better.
TFTC.

03-Aug-21
Found it safe and dry.
Thanks G 2 for helping my wife and I find a great look out on a blustery day.

01-Aug-21
Up to the tops here for a park n grab. Some photogenic bulls at the site and all good with the cache. Little Barrier was nice and clear as the afternoon went on, and Coromandel and Whangarei Heads were a smudge but barely visible today.

A trip out to the upper East Coast was our plan for Sunday, off to Tawharanui to start off and give our new camera and big lens a work out on the prolific bird life out there (the Takahe were tipped off and were a no-show). Then after a walk around we were off to the Goat Island peninsula walk for a view, stroll and a few caches. Grabbed a couple of extras when passing by too. Thanks to (both) COs for the caches.

Happy Mother’s Day geocache fun. Tftc

09-Dec-20
we spent the day Snorkeling at Goat Island and we did the walk along the coast grabbing some of the geocaches hidden along the trail so we decided to detour on our way home and grab this one as well. Some of these properties have some spectacular views. TFTC.

01-Nov-20
Out today with AliGle, exploring the Leigh/Pakiri area. Took a quick detour to find this one after walking the Coastal Trail near Goat Island. A straight forward find here. TFTC!

01-Nov-20
A quick park n grab on your way back along the road.

Nice find with woolwood9 today.
We enjoyed the drive / walk around the area.
Stamped logs as tm/ww NZ which may just look like a black smudge on plastic logs!

*Some weird, strange guy (even by geocacher standards....haha) parked up by here with engine going the whole time we were at the lookout but we were ably to find cache and return discretely.*

14-Jan-20
Nice little find on a Tuesday afternoon. We're in Leigh for a few days and will find a few catches while we're here. TFTC.

07-Oct-19
Headed up this way for some school holiday fun with the family and a camper van..... not clearing the area of caches as we want to return another day as this area is great in the summer months.

Thanks to the CO's for cache placement and maintaining them to bring us to these locations.

TFTC.

The last of an epic couple of hours of caching FTFs. You could see the Barrier islands today but only just - you can hardly pick them out in the photo I took so have attached a photo of the trig and sign that shows where places are from this lookout instead. The winds were really strong here and it was starting to rain again. Just as well it was a quick find and even had a seat to use for signing the log! Haven't been down this road since I visited the marae when my youngest was still at Playcentre, so over 12 years ago. Thanks for bringing me here again G--2!
