The great barrier cache has made a great disapperaring act. I'll let someone else put a cache here with this great view.
I think there may have been some maintenance work carried out in the last 10 days and the cache has been a casualty. Only 2 Chevron in place, neither has a mint tin attached.
having been on the island an hour at this point, we decided to drive down to tryphena for lunch. this was our first stop up the hill, and had everyone else getting out thier cameras to take a photo. I may have been too busy finding a pen...
Took us a couple of drive by’s to get this one due to people parking and enjoying the view. Finally made it! TFTC
Nice quick find. Stopped for a photo opp and then thought we should see if there is a cache here and there was! Day 2 of our great barrier adventure with philbirdboys TFTC
Stopped for a photo and then thought “I wonder if there’s a chance here?” And yes there was! Nice easy find and on to another day of caching. Hoping to clear up a few more today. SL TFTC
First find during our short stay on Great Barrier Island. Enjoying our drive and the scenery. Thanks for this placement funkymunkyzone, there is indeed an excellent view from here.
Found with mumandme and Madcow2. Beautiful spot for a view stop. Thanks for making us stop.
A nice quick and unexpected find while stopping at the Lookout while traveling from Tryphena to Medlands Backpackers on our Bushwalking journey.

Great Barrier adventure. After a DNF earlier today it was a great spot to get our Geocaching holiday back on track
Stopped on the hill on the way over to Tryphena and made a quick find. The local cop drove past us while we were doing the business, but we just made like we were checking out the view...nothing to see here
Once again a great view. Had to be a bit careful crossing over to get this, tho no real traffic.
Over here on the Barrrier for a wedding so was looking foward to grab a few geocaches while I was here. Now that the wedding is over and we have a few hours before we needed to catch our plane home we managed a bit of a tiki tour around the Southern half of the island. The few days we have spent here have been magical and I'm looking forward to a return visit. Thanks for placing this cache and showing me around this amazing island.
Grea View point. Hadn’t been on this part of the Barrier for about 39 years! Thanks
Visiting Great Barrier Island for a few days with some friends - what a delightful place; yesterday we drove around quite a long way & today we started by walking in to the hot pools - not to be missed !
Then we moved on to Tryphena for a late morning tea; picked this cache up on the way back to Medland Beach for a swim.
This was to be my last cache on The Barrier; we had a lovely 3 days' break and will obviously have to return!
Thanks, FMZ, for placing & maintaining this cache.

Grabbed this cache as we stopped to get some panoramic pics from here. Quick find - TNLNSL. Thanks for the placement.
Visited the Barrier for the first time ever early last year, to catch up on the family ( Claris ) history, but that was before I got hooked on this crazy lark 11 months ago.
I had thought of a return trip to look for the caches, but because there were only 8, it hardly seemed worthwhile. A little while ago though, quite a few new caches were placed and that piqued my interest somewhat. A check a couple of weeks ago indicated that most were still available for FTFs, so a plan was formulated for a two day trip to try and turn the island as yellow as possible. I just hoped the weather would co-operate and amazingly, it did.
After landing on the early flight in and picking up the rental car, I headed northwards up to Windy Canyon and the Mt Hobson track. After a 4 hour trek up and back and successfully finding all those caches, I carried on north to do the rest up there and then back down here to Medlands. Last cache for the day, was this one near the pull off area overlooking magnificent Medlands Bay. A quick find where expected and another blank log, so FTF # 15 for today and # 34 overall for me. And 21 out of 21 today as well, so the 100% target for GBI is still a possibility. TFTC

Not claiming FTF as I was present on placement.
Last day of our three day visit to Great Barrier Island. I had a blast exploring Aotea Island with the CO, mikemiss and Gorby. There is certainly no shortage of scenic outlooks on the island and the CO has found one with a perfect theme. A great barrier for sure. Cheers for the cache placement!

Not claiming FTF as was alongside the CO on placement.
An awesome weekend away to the Barrier with geocaching friends - FMZ, gorby and Lostcourse. Certainly a great barrier here as far as barriers and views are concerned. Most worthy of a placement here to mark this location - TFTC!

I have had a fantastic 3 days with the C.O, Lostcourse and Mr and Mrs mike-miss driving around gaining a few caches and placing a few, today we had wet and drizzly weather and we're over here on Great Barrier for 3 busy days of caching and eating, drinking and relaxing, a great spot for a cache, a Great Barrier as far as barriers go! Nice spot for a cache, not claiming FTF here. A fav for sure for the location and the gorgeous views!
